how can I access options for the stock video player?
I want to lower the brightness setting for it, but it seems to have a preset brightness setting other than my system brightness setting..
Umm, while a video is playing menu/settings/brightness.

I was guessing that's it, but nothing shows up when I press the option button...I reinstalled the tw video player app, but still no menu popping out when I press option buttpn while a video is playing
The brightness option is disabled in the video player if "auto brightness" in enabled in system settings.
good day.
Go to your home screen and then menu, setting, display
Change the brightness then go back to the video
A drop of Chuck Norris's semen was placed on Android OS. We now have CyanogenMod.

thanks for the reply. I meant 'nothing shows up' by no pop-up for settings show up on the screen when I press option button

I've bought yesterday my new galaxy s3 and even though the browser at the beginning was fine now it shows a very dark grey background, as if the brightness is decreased to reduce batter consumption.
I've disabled the power saving mode but still the same.
Any idea, please???
hehe pres the options buttons and you see a setting for clarity for the browser. videos and browser have an option to change the clarity settings apart from the main clarity settings.

Hi,
Start your browser, go to settings -> brightness and colours -> remove automatic brightness. Else go into advanced settings and reset your browser.
mine is in dutch but look for the brightness settings.

Yeah, change your "Brightness & Color" setting to Default in the Browser.

If you go into the brower and go to settings there is a setting there you can change, there is also a setting in standard settings around changing brighness based on image. You could try turning that off.
Solved... i had to set the browser brightness
Thanks everyone, I wasn't scrolling down enough in the browser menu and I couldn't see the brightness setting functionality.
Everytime I playback videos i've filmed they look very dim, yet if I hit backup it momentarily shows the video at its correct brightness level. Plus also the preview of the video is at the correct brightness level.
I've tried changing a few of the phones Display settings but nothing seems to stop this from happening. If anyone has any ideas it'd be appreciated.
Go into a video, pause it, hit menu and change the brightness from inside the player, disable auto-brightness as well while you are at it.
Ahh got it. I was doing that but initially could only see a few options, this time though I tried scrolling down and saw a load more including settings where I was able to disable auto brightness. Thanks.
How do I adjust brightness when watching videos?
Been looking everywhere.
What video player are you using?
Never used stock video player. If you want to try alternatives, both MX and Dice allow one to do this via on-screen swipe.

The one I'm using is called MoboPlayer. Simple swipe up/down on the left of the screen while playing video adjust brightness while swiping up/down on the right side adjust the volume. Plays any video formats also.
I've been using the stock videoplayer. Surely there has to be a way to adjust brightness?

Yep!
-start to play the video you want
-hit the menu button
-choose setting
-there you should have the option to adjust brightness
Just use MoboPlayer. You can adjust brightness while watching video.

What the hell, I could have sworn it wasnt there earlier. I've found it now tho'. Thanks a lot.
Try MX player. Slide your finger to change brightness and volume.
does the same thing happen to anyone else? when i go play a video i recorded the screen dims and when i exit the video the screen gets brighter. samething happens when i open the internet browser and youtube. i was comparing images and videos with my brothers phone and his looked brighter than mine and my screen brightness was all the way up. i am running redruM lean stock rom version 2 or 3( not sure what version) for the tmobile. and i also have some mods like build.prop tweaks, sony bravia engine, forced hardware acceleration, moded media-profiles.xml and some other ones i cant remember. im on adamkernel3 when i am browsing the videos the seem bright but when i play them it seems dark. hope someone has a solution to this. thanks:good:
ok so i found a solution: solution here
so basically they each have their own brightness controls. just press the menu soft key and find brightness and disable automatic brightness and set it yourself.
Adjust Video Brightness on Setting (Play video, then hit option).
Also for the browser, hit option while on internet. Unless you got 3rd party one.
I was 8 min late

I recorded a video recently and noticed when I went to watch it that the screen dims dramatically. Happens with with all the videos a recorded. I found this very odd. Is this normal?

Your gallery cam have a separate brightness setting. When you play the video, tap the menu button and then settings. You'll be able to adjust the brightness default for videos in gallery.

Thanks, but I'm not understanding what you trying to tell me.
But I figured it out.
If I scroll my finger along the left side of the screen I can adjust the brightness (right side adjust the volume). I had someone taking videos for me at an event and it seems they managed to lower the brightness in the video player.

My misspellings didn't help. Fixed them.
So (I think) when you swipe up/down on the left it just adjusts the brightness for that video while you're watching it. If you instead hit the menu/settings button (3 dots) there inside the video, you'll be able to adjust the default brightness setting for when you play any video in the gallery. So it will always be brighter, every time.
By doing it the way your doing, sliding up and down on left, I think it is just adjusting the brightness that one particular time, and then brightness will just go back to the old setting.
Thanks, I found the setting in the video menu, but it keeped the brighter setting from running my finger up the left side of the screen. So both methods seem to work.
