Is there a way to stop the notification bar from getting covered by the full screen browser?
This annoys me as well. Any fixes other than using an alternate browser?

Nothing I'm aware of, short of using an alternate browser. You can always just press "Menu" whenever you feel like checking the Notifications bar though. Its a simple enough workaround.
i just tried overriding the default browser with the default android browser and i failed. this annoys me also.
If youre familiar with about:debug, run that and see if there is an option to change that. I only used it to change the ua string

I used root explorer and replaced the HTC browser with the android stock one. Works okay for me, but breaks long-pressing. Can still select text via the menu.

Hopefully the devs will figure out how to get around this in their Sense roms

after you did this did you have to fix permissions?

I'm using the standard Facebook app and so far its great. The new update makes it better but there is still an annoying issue that hasn't changed. When I go in to check my notifications I select one and it takes me to the mobile version instead of staying in the app. I've looked through the Derrick gs and haven't been able to find a way to change that. I emailed the devs but haven't heard back yet. Is there a way to change it so it doesn't open notifications in the browser?

i think that is what it is meant to do unfortunately
So I'm trying to figure out the point to the blacklist feature in Handcent. I know it hides all the texts that are on the list, but they are still accessible via the stock messaging app no problem. Is there a way to stop the stock app from showing particular messages, or disable the stock app all together? Just seems like a pointless feature to have if it is bypassed so easily.
remove the stock app from your phone, with root explorer

I wouldn't advise that. Isn't the stock MMS app tied into the framework? I believe this would kill your ability to send and receive messages.
I think the blacklist is to block who ever u want from texting you.

This is pretty much what it does .. I have done it.

I always wondered if that was possible without breaking something....
With launcher pro you can hide it in the hidden apps list..or on adw just put it on your homescreen then.hold it then edit then change the name and change the icon then take off notifications

Launcher Pro allows you to hide applications and in the stock messaging app go to settings and disable navigation notifications. Problem solved.
Edit: I missed the post above mine.

if u are looking just to hide dome text so your partner wont find out....you need to download sms guard on the market ,install and go to settings and put a password do no one wont getting......that works perfectly....now the only problem is if the sent u a multimedia message it wont block ....hope it hepls
I've tried the blacklist from handcent myself but really didn't like it nor worked for me that well. Now I'm using blaclkist app from the market. Much better than the blacklist that comes in handcent.

OK this is a new one on me. All I did was flash a deodexed rom and now for some reason I have lost my Browser icon/shortcut. Now it gets even weirder, it is only missing from TouchWiz. I have installed GoLauncher and it shows up there. Now I know that I could just continue to use GoLauncher but the fact that I can't get the Browser launch shortcut to show up in TouchWiz bugs me. Would anyone be kind enough to explain where I screwed up?
What replaced it? If it's still in the apps drawer, you can put it back in. Apps drawer-menu-view type-customizable grid-menu-edit.
Nope, not in the app drawer or in the dock. Nothing replaced it. The browser.apk is still located in the system/app folder however it just does not show up anywhere when running TouchWiz.

Check for app called "Web" instead of Browser
There is no app in the dock or drawer called web or internet or browser or anything with a globe as an icon. It is for some reason just not visible in TW.

Have you tried reflashing, or even restarting?
In the stock browser, I hit menu then more and select text. It lets me select text, then what? How do I copy? I go to the same spot in the menu as "select text" after selecting and there are no new options. Long pressing on selected text also gives me nothing.
sent straight from my brain....
You highlight the text and then hit the highlighted stuff and it gives you option.

once it is selected long press on the highlighted text for the options menu
Or just switch to dolphin browser HD it has better copy/text functions and tabbed browsing.
I couldn't get down with the Dolphin Browser myself. I just use stock. Couldn't really find one I was happy with.
Agreed on the browser... I use stock, but I do have Skyfire installed for sites that the stock browser hoses up.

I don't like skyfire much myself but any browser is better than stock. I love the tabs and gestures in dolphin. It's pretty much Firefox but it actually pwns the android Firefox browser lol.
Android Firefox was absolutely horrible.

Yeah. Pretty much.
One of the first things I did when I got my Droid DNA was to install Apex Launcher, mainly because I wanted the gesture support for opening the notification drawer and the app drawer. I have swipe down set to open the notifications, so I don't have to reach all the way to the top. Problem is, sometimes I have to swipe several times or change the angle at which I am swiping in order for it to register. I have been in contact with HTC but we aren't getting anywhere.
I don't know if the issue is limited to Apex, or if other launchers have the same issue. I tried Nova, but apparently you need the premium version to unlock gestures.
My question is this: Does anybody else have issues with gestures using Apex or Nova (premium) Launchers?
Its something with apex. I just installed nova to test it our and it works flawlessly.

Well it could just be my phone, or it could be you haven't seen it YET. As I said, the issue was intermittent. Anyway, if you do keep one of those configurations, I would much appreciate it you would post back here again. Thanks for the help though meanwhile.
I did some more experimenting and I realized it may be limited to just after switching screens. If I swipe to the side to a different screen, then quickly swipe down or up before it has completely settled, then it won't go. If I keep swiping, it stays in "transition mode" and won't recognize the command of swiping down or up. The only way to stop it then, is to be a little slower to swipe, or to speed up the transition animation. Not sure why this never happened on my Thunderbolt though.
