[stupidQ] rebooting into recovery - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How do I manually boot into recovery? I'm trying to boot to hboot to install the kernel for das bamf but I can't figure out what combination of buttons when powered off boots into recovery.

Hold volume down and press power

Of course.. I was pressing up haha. Thanks!

Boot in to CWM

Sorry if this has been discussed.
I've recently rooted and installed the BAMF rom. But I was wondering how I can boot in to CWM from a powered off state. I can through ROM Manager.
Thanks!
Hold vol-down as it boots (make sure there's no P10whatever.zip). Then select "recovery" and you'll be in recovery mode.
Hold the volume down button while holding the power button. That will take you into HBOOT and from there you can choose to boot into recovery. Just hit the down arrow once you get into HBOOT and you can choose - Recovery (hit power button to accept).
Perfect! Thanks!! My problem was I still had "P10whatever.zip" and it kept trying to update.

[Q] hboot from recovery

I was wondering if there is any way to reboot to hboot from recovery without adb-pc, i need this when i switch from froyo to gingerbread and install the rom and then flash the new radio image and i need to go into hboot from recovery(cwm), and i don't have a pc
thanks
Is that the VOLUME DOWN + POWER thing?
**EDIT - Ya, I just tried it. It takes you to the HBOOT thing.
Couple of ways.
You could shutdown your phone after installing the rom, then hold down the power and volume down buttons to load into hboot or you could just pull the battery out after you finish the rom install and then hold down the power and volume down buttons
I'm sure there are other ways, but both work for me.

How do you shut it without pulling the battery?

How to get into Recovery- Please help

I just flashed this 2.01.605.0- Basic Debloat ROM. There's an error when I click the phone and an error when I try to get on to markplace. How do I get back to recovery? I don't have ROM manager and I cant get to marketplace to download. Realized the hold power and vol down only works on bamf. Please help.
try holding vol up and powering up at the same time.
Also, does your rom have the reboot into recovery when you try to power down and select restart?
Hold power+volume down is how you get to hboot. It is not rom specific. So boot your phone holding Power and Volume Down then select Recovery in the list you are presented with and hit Power.
Also make sure you don't have fast boot enabled, if you do pull the battery then power+volume down. If all else fails "adb reboot recovery" will get you there from adb.

Booting to Recovery

I have an odd problem. I can re-boot into recovery just fine if I select Reboot into Recovery from within my ROM. However, if I have my phone off and just want to go straight into Recovery I'm having a problem.
Pushing Vol- and the Power button at the same time just gets me a regular startup of the phone instead of booting into Recovery. Am I doing it right?
Had the same problem when stock. Only way I could get my phone to boot into recovery then was to use the commands from the Rezound All-In-One Toolkit 2.0.
I currently have Amon-Ra 3.15 installed & am S-Off with CONROM V4.
Thanks,
CxP

The Vol- and Power button has to be done in a certain way.
I think you press Vol- first, then power, and make sure you hold both of them for around 5 seconds.
Make sure you have fastboot in the settings unchecked. Power off. Press vol - , hold, and press power and hold until you get hboot.

Am i doing somthing wrong, when i press Volum Down + Power?
Its just boot normaly, but in homescreen say is "Safe Mode"
What to do?
pull battery, reinsert battery, hold vol. down, while holding vol. down, hold the power button down til u see your h-boot screen, when your there choose recovery. or u can download a app from playstore called quickboot, it'll give u all kinds of powering down options. including boot into recovery...

Cannot get HTC Evo 4g to recovery

When I try and boot it into recovery I can get to the FASTBOOT screen. In the FASTBOOT screen I do as I always do and select BOOTLOADER. In the BOOTLOADER I select RECOVERY and it takes me back to the FASTBOOT menu everytime!!
What Recovery are you using ? What ROM are you running ? You should be able to get into Recovery by powering down the device all the way. The hold the volume down button, and at the same time press the power button. That will take you to the HBoot menu. You can select Recovery from there. Use the volume keys to go toggle up or down in the menu. The power key to select.
