Currently I have setcpu ondemand and a profile to get the cpu at 256mhz when the screen is off.
What else can I do.

yeah It works just fine for that profile.
Download and buy Titanium Backup Pro and use the app to freeze all the bloatware you don't want running. Stuff like Peep, Blockbuster, Bitbop, CityID, etc. I haven't rooted this one yet, but my old Dinc and DPro showed significant battery life gains when I froze these bloat apps that just seem to always be running. Backup Assistant is another culprit if you aren't using it.
I actually renamed the files using Root Explorer and moved to SD and backed up on my pc, so Titanium wasn't having to intervene all the time to keep them frozen.
I would suggest running Das BAMF Rom v 1.1. Since installing it I've noticed a nice increase in battery performance as well as a snappier phone.

I would recommend droidwall, its helped my phone out immensely. You can stop your phone from sending out data constantly. That is what I found helped me out the most.

You can shell out the fifty bucks for the unsightly extended battery . Bout the only thing that really helps right now, lol.

Install a ROM that doesn't have all that bloat on it.
I renamed all of the bloatware apps to .bak and rebooted.

No, it won't let me go higher than 993 mhz

Well, I just leave it set to "ondemand", so that way it will automatically adjust the speed as needed (Max: 998MHz, Min: 245MHz). My max is 998MHz.
what firmware we can use? which is highly recommended? R2BA026?

I don't speak French so I can't comment on that but I've been using SetCPU since the 020 root and it SEEMS to work alright. Sometimes when I open it, it says something about failing but then it works OK.
I'm currently on R2BA026 rooted and it works for me. I also use JuiceDefender but to be honest I'm getting more and more convinced that's not helping any more. JuicePlotter in particular is struggling and keeps stalling, with gaps in the graph frequently, not sure why but that's not relevant to this thread so I'll leave that.
But I do NOT use it to overclock and would not recommend that! For a start, it would cane the battery. Rather, I use it to "throttle" the CPU speed. I think that's what most of us use it for. E.g. when the screen is off, it stops the CPU working too hard (and thus saves battery). Also when power is running low, CPU is throttled to save it. By throttled I mean "restricted to 245Mhz".

we cant overclock anyway until there is a custom kernel. and you get bet your arse that when there is one, ill be overclocking to the max zoooom
I've used SetCPU for a few weeks and now I've been using my X10 without SetCPU for a few weeks and I've noticed zero difference in power consumption.
I'm guessing Android does a fine job itself at downclocking the CPU when it doesn't have to do heavy tasks.

Same here. i just uninstalled it and my phone is also more stable.

I update to the latest version and right now im on the KANGED version thats not OFFICIAL release but it is made by the dev.
Anyways...
Every day i wake up in the morning, from 100% my battery goes to about 90- 85% from using it then i go to school, phone in my pocket for about 7-8 hours.
It usually goes to 70% or 75% when i check soon as school is over.... but today.. it was at 32%!!?
My battery has been draining FAST this past week. IDK what's causing it, but i think its a app, but watchdog lite doesn't show anything at all.
Any tips at all guys?

I suspected it was SetCPU doing this, so i uninstalled that.
the signal is... okay? When in my pocket it sometimes goes to NO Signal, but is usually at 2-3 bars.

I maybe check the time once in the while, but besides that its always idle.
I just slept for a hour. I lost 10% in that hour. WTF is this lol
try recalibrating the batter by using either root explorer or the terminal to delete /data/system/battstats.bin as sometimes CWM on cm7 for galaxy s doesn't delete it.
i have the same issues and tried everything..i dnt even have data plan to use internet and i keep my 2g on and my battery still drains like pipes in the sewers

I use battery calibrator app and used it alot and battery left app shows, my readings are accurate but not from 0% because I never reach 0%.
Time to go to 0.

try not using the battery claibrator app, and removing it from your phone and manually deleting the batterystats.bin file from /data/system and see if that helps your phone at all.
I also suggest getting CPUSpy from the market, and track what states your phone is in and for how long it is in certain states. if it's not going into the sleep state, then something is keeping the cpu active (possibly a governor setting).

That aint normal my friend, you should jump into another modem, regardless of what you're on. Maybe that helps and by all means, what kernel are you on?
I'm on the stock kernel... Should I visage and can you link me to more cm7 modems or atleast a good one that works good?

The stock one should be battery efficient but I honestly haven't really tried it out. Give r12 or r25 a shot from here. They've been great in every aspect to me. Just make sure you're not on kang 7.1 when flashing, it doesn't support that.
As for modems I'd suggest either KB5 or KB1. If you're on either one switch to the other, may help.
don't run phone on "performance" -- it's silly to run the cpu at top speed when the phone is just sitting doing nothing. Run it at "on demand" or "conservative" especially if it is OCed. Also set screen timeout at a minute or less. If you got the phone used, it's possible the battery is old. If you reboot it a lot and install roms and stuff you'll run the battery down fast.

Yesterday I did a cleaning of apps i never use and some i installed recently.
I guess that did the trick? I have no more problems came back from school and my battery's at 76%

don't use setcpu if you don't have to. the built int scaler for the kernel is actually much better than letting setcpu run in the background polling the cpu and system for changes.
if you're running a custom kernel, get voltage control, and with it you can UV, OC, under clock, and change scheduler.
And in Settings -> CM Settings -> Performance -> CPU Settings, you can control min frequency, max frequency, and governors.

I went there, and its already on "ondemand" so.. nothing should be touched?

The only time i use internet is at home with WIFI
On my EVO 4G I used Juice Defender, it seemed to help battery life a bit. Does the EVO-3D even need it ? Sometimes that app could cause more conflicts too.

Put the beta version on first and it will work fine.
Try using "Automateit" in the Market, it is a free app but gives you numerous battery saving options that you can set up to your liking. A lot easier to use than Juice imho, and it is very similar to Tasker.
It really helps when you lower the screen brightness just a little. That send to be the biggest drain on the battery that i hassle noticed with this Phone.

My Experience
I spent the first 24 hours with my 3D without Juice Defender and the battery life was just alright, 3D images and video drain it quick though. I installed it this morning and my battery is still going strong, I shot a ton more photos and videos today than I did yesterday, too. I'd say use it and customize the settings to your liking once you know the program. I'm running similar setting to my Hero (CDMA) and it seems to have improved the battery life substantially.

In my neverending attempt to extend my battery life, I installed SetCPU. The underclocking with profiles has extended my battery some, but Id like more.
I know very little about undervolting, its a new concept to me. Could someone elaborate on it, and may've suggest voltages for each speed setting? I hear it can do wonders for battery life.

just experiment, start with small increments (don't save your settings!!!) see if it reboots, if its stable for a day or two, increase it, when it starts crashing dial it back a notch.
Just like overclocking except in reverse and with voltage basically.
note I'm not sure re: kernel requirements, I haven't tried it yet with my atrix, and my current ROM runs stock kernel I think.
its hit and miss, for example on my SGTab I can't undervolt at all or else it crashes all the time, others get away with -100mAh across the board (bastards), but mine is happy on 1.1OC.

Yes, start conservative.
Another way to use setcpu to improve your battery life is to set a screen off profile to restrict the CPU speed to minimum when the screen is off.
I tried that one, but it kept stalling my phone when turning the screen back on when it was at the bare minimum.
EDIT: For anyone wondering, -75 seems to cause frequent freezes.

Any overclocking or underclocking is always trial and error. Rule of thumb is to only ever change one thing at a time in small increments, then test before adjusting again. Your approach should be methodical and not haphazard, i.e. in a PC change cpu clock speed in small increments until you fail to boot or BSOD, then change voltage in small increments until you boot and are stable again. Monitor temperatures all the time, and add cooling if necessary. If you take a methodical approach, and don't rush things, you can achieve surprising results with hardware/software tweaking.

So, I had checked off set at boot on the voltage screen. Unfortunately, this has rendered my phone to continually reboot and freeze, as one voltage is too low.
I do have a nandroid backup from right before installing SetCPU, and backups of working voltages, but I can't get the working ones restored before SetCPU starts and freezes my phone.
Is there a way I can default or disable the SetCPU settings without having to reflash the ROM or a backup of it?

Do something CPU intensive also to see if it crashes, like play a game. You want to stretch the phone to the limits to test it at the most extreme condition you will use it under.

re: setcpu, sorry I think you have to reflash... thats why you don't save the settings until you're sure
there is no shortcut way.... you may be fine for a day but next day it keeps crashing. Happened to me on my SG tab when I went to 1.2 for example, I thought it was hunky dory then a few days later crashing galore.
the longer you leave it for the better you are, its really your call to make. Some people prefer the extra speed and will live with a crash or two a week (not me, its my phone not gaming pc lol).
not sure how much stress testing you can/should do. Back when I was OCing PCs I would leave stress tests running overnight, but probably not a good idea to 100% CPU a phone overnight lol

I installed ViperRez 1.0.3 and I found this rom perfect for me, but the battery life was bad.
So I wanted to test another ROM. When I tested Nil's Business 2.3, I found the battery life was better.
Then I got an idea: Install ViperRom and flash the Nil's Business PH98IMG.zip.
Now, my battery life is doubled and I have no problems

Try cpu monitor widget by coconuts from the market and see how your cpu is working compared to what set cpu says...even using different governors.
check "enable profiles' within setcpu (don't need to set one up, just check the box) and your phone will get faster. For me it enables the 2nd core to be used more frequently, or all the time.
Just sayin...and there's been a ton of stuff written about setcpu, perflock...etc already so no need to rehash.

i did the same thing when i read this thread im running the viperRez rom 1.0.3 with the nils business PH98IMG with s-on and the latest ice cream sandwich firmware leak.. i originilly started this process with my rezound to try and save battery life the way i did with my incredible.. not getting as good of results. i noticed he never replied with a screen shot thought id add mine.. (note: this is my extended 3.7v battery and i removed my it at one point so theres actually three more hours added to the time on battery before it died adn this is light to med use all day) this really is honestly the best combination ive seen for battery life on the rezound.i cant say its doubled..at least personally. if anyone has any other suggestions im open to hear them..

i dont seem to see any kernel in rom manager for down load:/ a couple screen shots on where would be awesome if you have the time..
One major improvement for battery life is customizing Juice Defender. They way I set mine up is as follows:
Enable data for anything that requires data (i.e. browser, market, etc...)
Disable data for anything that doesn't require data (i.e. Launcher, Music, Messages, etc...)
Enable/Screen Off for anything you stream or tether (i.e. TuneIn, Grooveshark, DI, etc...)
What this does is only enable data for anything you actually need data for rather than right after unlocking the screen. Sure you may have to wait a second or two after launching the market before data is enabled, but by the time you're done typing in your search it should be ready to go anyways. Just a couple pennies for anyone trying to max out battery life...

So I wanted to test another ROM. When I tested Nil's Business 2.3, I found the battery life was better.
Then I got an idea: Install ViperRom and flash the Nil's Business PH98IMG.zip.
Now, my battery life is doubled and I have no problems

This kernel is the exact same kernel in Viper 1.0.3. If you're getting better battery life it's probably from using the ROM for a few days and not from flashing.
Yea I was going to say but you beat me to it, they are the same kernels.
Let the ROM settle, and your battery life should increase over time, then hold steady.
