On my EVO 4G I used Juice Defender, it seemed to help battery life a bit. Does the EVO-3D even need it ? Sometimes that app could cause more conflicts too.
Opinion ?

Put the beta version on first and it will work fine.
Try using "Automateit" in the Market, it is a free app but gives you numerous battery saving options that you can set up to your liking. A lot easier to use than Juice imho, and it is very similar to Tasker.
It really helps when you lower the screen brightness just a little. That send to be the biggest drain on the battery that i hassle noticed with this Phone.

My Experience
I spent the first 24 hours with my 3D without Juice Defender and the battery life was just alright, 3D images and video drain it quick though. I installed it this morning and my battery is still going strong, I shot a ton more photos and videos today than I did yesterday, too. I'd say use it and customize the settings to your liking once you know the program. I'm running similar setting to my Hero (CDMA) and it seems to have improved the battery life substantially.

Hey I rooted my TBolt and I wanted to keep my batt life boosted as much as possible.
Currently I have setcpu ondemand and a profile to get the cpu at 256mhz when the screen is off.
What else can I do.
Thanks

yeah It works just fine for that profile.
Download and buy Titanium Backup Pro and use the app to freeze all the bloatware you don't want running. Stuff like Peep, Blockbuster, Bitbop, CityID, etc. I haven't rooted this one yet, but my old Dinc and DPro showed significant battery life gains when I froze these bloat apps that just seem to always be running. Backup Assistant is another culprit if you aren't using it.
I actually renamed the files using Root Explorer and moved to SD and backed up on my pc, so Titanium wasn't having to intervene all the time to keep them frozen.
I would suggest running Das BAMF Rom v 1.1. Since installing it I've noticed a nice increase in battery performance as well as a snappier phone.

does turning off 4G really save that much battery. The first day using my ThunderBolt I thought the battery drained pretty fast. Came home after 8 hours, minimal use at work, talked a bit and battery got down to 25%. I did a factory reset (my reasons) and removed Advanced Task Killer and today my battery was 50% after work (talked for a hour) and minimal use at work (no games, no internet). Honestly I thought it actually behaved like my Evo (rooted). Will most likely get the extended battery still, but really didnt notice the battery issues today.
Hopefully will root soon. Remove the bloatware.

I agree but they might of wanted to stay away from the 4g switch temporarily because of all the trouble the EVO had in the beginning from the switch draining the battery, just a theory I believe.
i dont know if it has something to do with the fact i keep getting popups to update my phone to the new software... but right now i have the CWM recovery and alien rom and its all unlocked. however i used to get amazing stand by time till something changed it and now standby died in 9 hours. any idea what to do. i did reset battery stats several times, and nothing. is there a rom that i can download to update this motorola software so it stops bugging me
Had same issue ..went from outstanding to soso on battery life....im sure in something i did

I had the same issue as well. Turned out it was Facebook using GPS literally 100% of the time - my phone would die in just a few hours of idle. Force-killed the FB app, turned off GPS, all good now.

Had the same problem in the change log it gives it self permission to keep the phone awake and out does also keeps the GPS on too. Uninstalled and tripled back to the old version, I also killed the receivers for Facebook and I get my 16+ hours out of my battery back.

If the battery is that bad it must be because of an application running constantly or something that drains the battery has been left on.

Mine seemed to kinda go down the toilet after I flashed this ROM. I think I need to go back to the 1.5 with the EXT3 though, so I have working WIFI again, til we get the 3.2 and 3.3 updates back up and bootable.

ok so i am on ginger 2.3.3 with a day one x10a baceband 71 rooted with Custom boot loader so i can literally do anything except gain more battery life. i have tried ATK in the past and ditched it for Battery doctor cause i found when you charge with battery doctor i get about 6 more hours out of my phone. ad that to my 1800mAh battery from mugen power and i'm getting about 12 more hours then i did when i got the dang thing. killing tasks all the time deferentially helps. all in all i get about 24 hours...
what i'd really like is a custom rom that is Ginger that's whole point is battery life... i'd really like to forget to plug my phone in and not panic in the morning cause i'm at 10%
i have looked though allot of roms but can't seem to find anything with all the battery eating junk ripped out it seems most of them are putting more junk in
Are there any good LITE roms out there?

Sound to me more like it your habit rather than ROM/Hardware .
I wound't begin the debate here about ATK, but since your post doesn't provide any technical info. Let's try this..
> Seriously, stop using ATK.. it would just HIDE the real problems.
> Remove all unnecessary widget... clock, time, weather, photo, blah blah
> Wait for a few hour, is it significantly better?
> Remove some background-apps; viber, whatsapp, skype, trillion, imo, msg, brb, blah, blah, blah
> Wait for a few hour, is it better?
Well, it should... (definately )
Some geeks down here... skip it if you're lazy.
Actually, you will need to understand something that it's not really about ROM.
Most custom ROM provide you some 'minfree' tweak. Let's make it simple.
Case 1, minfree is 60MB (most custom ROMs)
> droid will just fill the memory with lots of apps till RAM is 60MB.
> droid will start killing the task aggressively when RAM is below 60MB.
Case 2, same thing with 30MB (Stock ROM)
> droid will just fill the memory with lots of apps till RAM is 30MB.
> droid will start killing the task aggressively when RAM is below 30MB.
So, using ATK means....you shot everything to pieces, and droid just recovers it back..
or.............................you and droid trying to shot everything down.....
doesn't sound useful.. does it?
ATK is then.. useless.. unless there are some legacy no brainer app eating CPU and tell droid that 'I'm busy doing my (stupid) job, go away and don't kill me'.
Alright, that's NOT the point about ATK.
My point is, if you having too much apps, beyond 'minfree' level, there is no way you can save the battery whether using ATK or droid itself.... ATK just hide it, and make it worse.
This is why most people get a decent battery life with stock, since it provides lowest minfree level (around simple 30MB), with a cost of system performance, which is one of the reason that stock one is the slowest one.
So, what you need to do is to adjust number of your running apps, close to the minfree level.
Or adjust the minfree level (autokiller memory optimizer?) to match your current usage.
So, all in all, if you're using custom ROMs, stop using ATK, uninstall any stupid apps till free memory is running around 60-80MB. This will give you 'optimal' (not best) battery life.
384MB is not decent enough for X10 to become a multitasking speedy beauty with decent battery life.

Try installing JuceDefender from the market. If after trying it for awhile you find an extreme difference in battery life then your problem is probably with one of your apps accessing Wifi / Wireless data all the time.
Another thing that could be causing it is if you're in a very low signal area. Where I used to work, I was lucky to get 12 hours out of my phone. Right now, it's been off the charger for 11.5 hrs and I'm down to 82%. In this case shutting of wifi and wireless data will help.
Sorry I can't offer any more suggestions. Good luck man.
I use battery Dr. for killing tasks as it helps by doing calibration charges when you charge your phone from under 20%. So I get more battery life than I did with juice defender
Also I get full bars on an hsps network at both home and work

I agree, I use JiuceDefender and if you take the time to set all the profiles it will help alot. Service area signal is also a key to battery life. Also try Battery Calibration App from the market, it will reset your battery stats. Make sure and leave the app open untill battery charges to 100%. Then let battery go till phone shuts down and charge again to 100%, That has been the best fix for me, plus Wolfberak's 2.3 rom's.
Ya using wolf note and I'm liking it.it's giving me my 3 days so I'm good.... I'd like to point out that juice defender as a few cool features but battery doctor seems to work better it has full cycle charging built in as well

Try cpu monitor widget by coconuts from the market and see how your cpu is working compared to what set cpu says...even using different governors.
check "enable profiles' within setcpu (don't need to set one up, just check the box) and your phone will get faster. For me it enables the 2nd core to be used more frequently, or all the time.
Just sayin...and there's been a ton of stuff written about setcpu, perflock...etc already so no need to rehash.

i dont seem to see any kernel in rom manager for down load:/ a couple screen shots on where would be awesome if you have the time..
One major improvement for battery life is customizing Juice Defender. They way I set mine up is as follows:
Enable data for anything that requires data (i.e. browser, market, etc...)
Disable data for anything that doesn't require data (i.e. Launcher, Music, Messages, etc...)
Enable/Screen Off for anything you stream or tether (i.e. TuneIn, Grooveshark, DI, etc...)
What this does is only enable data for anything you actually need data for rather than right after unlocking the screen. Sure you may have to wait a second or two after launching the market before data is enabled, but by the time you're done typing in your search it should be ready to go anyways. Just a couple pennies for anyone trying to max out battery life...
Here is my screenshot.

This kernel is the exact same kernel in Viper 1.0.3. If you're getting better battery life it's probably from using the ROM for a few days and not from flashing.
Yea I was going to say but you beat me to it, they are the same kernels.
Let the ROM settle, and your battery life should increase over time, then hold steady.
