you can get to recovery also by going into the bootloader, and then hitting recovery. you don't need to be plugged into a charger.

hey guys, my volume-down button is busted. is there any other way i can get into bootloader?
btw, im trying to do this from within winmo 6.5. is there any app tht would let me reboot into bootloader?

You could do it from adb like in the TeamAndIRC root method.

Winmo 6.5? I think you might be in the wrong forum.

[Q] Communications with phone unexpectedly interrupted [Resolved]

After trying to use Revolutionary to root my phone, it rebooted to fastboot twice and gave me the error "Communications with phone unexpectedly interrupted" and said "Press (almost) any key to exit..." so I just pressed enter and rebooted the phone from the fastboot menu. The reboot was successful.
Should I try running revolutionary again or am I doing something wrong?
I didn't do temp root + factory reset if that matters but the guide said it wasn't required.
EDIT: Although I got those errors, it gave me S-OFF and allowed me to flash the files needed to root. Looks the issue was resolved. Thanks for your help!
is the phone set as charge only?

I tried it again and it got the same issue. It rebooted into fastboot once, rebooted into fastboot again and gave me the same error. This time, I booted it up and it did the hands-free activation on my phone. Did it successfully S-OFF?
I also read that I have to disable any antiviruses I have. I don't know how to disable McAfee, but could that potentially be interfering with the process?
it may have! you can check if its s-off by rebooting into the bootloader and looking at the top of the screen.

oh yeah, make sure fastboot is unchecked first.

Alright, I just unchecked it from the power settings. I don't think it should matter since it still boots into fastboot. Is that an official part of the guide?
I'm running it and hoping for the best.
EDIT: It still gave me the error, but I have S-OFF and it says -revolutionary- at the top. Does this mean I can continue to flash TWRP?
EDIT: I flashed the PG86IMG-TWRP zip. It worked.
EDIT: I flashed the Super User zip and I have super user now. I guess the rooting was successful. Thanks shaanwarrior! I can piss now...
well if you uncheck it you can get into the bootloader easy. just press and hold the volume down button for about 3 secs and then press and hold the power button. keep holding on to both then u'll see the bootloader!

The thing about rebooting into bootloader is that I can't turn on my phone after turning it off with fastboot off until I take out the battery and put it back in. I will just download the fastboot app to boot into bootloader, recovery, etc.

I also remember reading a thread about somebody saying their friend had a problem that was this. (or similar? can't remember.)
I have this same issue, I have tried multiple computers, with and without the SD card in the phone, with and without the fastboot box checked, I have 2 EVO 3Ds, both with 1.40.000 and this method worked for one but not the other, any ideas?
Thanks for this post! I had an issue with my root on a different device... but it turned out what you did wrong is the same exact thing I did wrong.
lol

Try removing the battery completely, then hold down the down volume key and plug the USB cord in and don't let go until it's in download mode. Then replace the battery into the phone. This method has always worked for me. Hopefully it does for you too

Usually takes 10 seconds lol yeah make sure the computer has Samsung drivers installed and try the OEM USB cord. Although I have used non OEM cords before and worked just fine... I'm very very surprised that taking the battery out, then holding the down key and plugging in simultaneous didn't work.

Booting into recovery?

My buddy screwed up in flashing his Rezound. Flashed something in recovery rather than bootlader. He is going to bring me his phone to try to fix so I was wondering what is the hard key press combination to get the phone to boot straight into recovery?

To get into the bootloader (which will then allow you to select recovery) do a battery pull, put it back in, then hold down the down volume button while pressing the power button until it boots up.
Oh, and Wreck 'Em!
You can't flash a bootloader file in recovery?
Maybe you should ask your friend to be more clear

From I gathered he flashed the volume wake mod into a ICS rom. Don't know if they are not compatible or what but he is a noob so I will try to help him out. We made sure he did a nand backup so if recovery is still there we should be in good shape.

Class of '05. txkorm is in this forum also and is also an Alum.
EDIT: Also, flashing a wake on volume should work in recovery for ICS. Not sure what happened with his.
There's no reason the recovery should be gone, just give him the steps to do a restore and he should be fine.
Got to fix his problem. He had a phgm type file on the root of his SD card that was keeping him from booting into recovery. Haha. He was freaked out.
Btw class of '93 here.

[Q] RSD not detecting Photon.

So I'm trying to flash back to stock so I can give the phone to my younger brother as I've recently gotten a new phone, the only problem is that RSD Lite is not detecting my phone at all. I have all the drivers installed so I'm not sure what's going on. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, I did look back to see if anyone has had the same problem as me, but nothing in those threads has helped me so here I am.

[Q] Phone stuck at HTC logo

Basically wiped everything, including the ROM I was about to flash without backing up first. I'm using a computer that runs only Ubuntu so I don't think I can use RUU. The device won't go anything past the loading screen and I've no idea what to do.
