[Q] Is there any PC Companion for MAC OSX? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just wondering is there any PC Companion or Suite for MAC OSX works with X10?

I don't think there is one, although you can always Bootcamp it - or look at other solutions like Parallels or just run good old windows in a VM maybe.

Yep, that method works, but the problem is the RUU itself. Allthough you have the right drivers after this procedure, only a modified G3 RUU will be able to flash on Vista.
The traditional way of flashing using os.nb with the Upgrade.bat works though.
Works
The on above does work, but I tend to use ShellTool more often.

Can you explain about ShellTool?
edit: I found some info. If I understand correctly, ShellTool is the "traditional" way of flashing, integrated in the Upgrade.bat?
vmware
A virtual machine loaded with XP is the best option for flashing comfortably, if you (unfortunatelly poor you) have vista on your pc.
VMware makes it simple and fully functional.
ciao!
I'm happy to say , the vmware does work !
I tried VM+WIN2K on Vista . It works perfectly !
i agree with vmware, have not had a problem running vista home premium running vmware/xp pro & all flashing is A-OK!!

Of course they have a trial version, but I am not interested. I want that simplified version, coz 189 dollar is way too much only for upgrading. I better keep my old xp machine.
Are you guys sure you have tried all the methods ? I have a G4 prophet and the one from this link

does work on my laptop with vista! No problems at all !
Try this one at your own risk , lol ,

When i use vmware+xp under vista:
Do i have to install activesync under vmware for flashing?
Do i have to deactivate something in Mobile Device Center in Vista

In Vmware menus , there's a 'removable device' option to allow you plug in usb devices . After you activate the function from the menu , your phone will be disconnected from Vista and recognized by the OS you installed in Vmware . Then , you can operate in the VM updating , synchronizing , everything as usual .
In addition to the previous advice, you must install ActiveSync under your VM-XP. You must look at it as a seperate computer, it needs to have all the software and drivers to perform.

[Q] Can I Use Android SDK and ADB on a Vista System?

I was getting prepped to get my unlock code and was finding out how to install Android sdk and adb on this site:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing.html
Went to System Requirements and for Windows it only lists XP And 7.
Would that be only if you're going to actually write something for Android? Atm the only windows computer I have up and running is my Vista laptop. I suppose I could try pulling out my old XP desktop system but I don't think it can even use my new monitors. I do have a nice Mac desktop running Snow Leopard but I prefer to do my hobby stuff on Windows as I'm much more comfortable with tinkering on that. I'm much more mystified by OS X than Windows.
I'm running 64-bit Vista and had no problem with ADB. The .zip I got was "android-sdk_r16-windows" and had a flawless unlock/ root process.
That said, I did have to do some more advanced settings within Windows. If you have any troubles let me know and I'll hunt down the ADB tutorial that I followed.
I've been using it on a 32 bit vista. Works fine

[Q] Flashing on Windows VBOX from a Mac :D

Hi again. I am just curious, has anybody tried and got the drivers installed properly on a Mac host Windows guest Virtual machine? I've also tried this on a windows laptop, but it has problems with the update tool. While Windows on VBOX doesn't have these problems, though it can't properly install S/W upgrade mode drivers. Any ideas? DD

I just installed "Parallels Desktop" (instead of VirtualBox) and it worked like a charm, in case someone has the same problem I had

KitKat Update Mac

Just ordered my G2 on T-Mobile. I would like to update to KitKat once it comes. I know you need to download the LG Mobile Support tool. My question is, is that available for Macs? If not how do I go about getting the update?
why don't you root, install a custom recovery, and then flash a kitkat rom.
that way you would keep root privileges
Get yourself a virtual machine?
I've got a mac myself but never thought about it, a virtual machine is good to have for stuff like this

Is the program called "LG PC Suite"? Because that's available for OSX

Yes. But unless it's working today, It has can't communicate with server errors. The easiest way, besides waiting for the OTA, is to use the LG Flash Tool on Windows.
I never got LG PC Suite to work in OsX it always throws a communication error on me. So better use a virtual Windows machine or Bootcamp

Second the Virtual Machine
I also have a Mac. A real good, fast MacBook Pro. I keep a PC desktop installed just to deal with some of these issues. Synching is not an issue, lots of solutions for that. But when it comes to rooting or restoring - to my knowledge - only solution seems to be installing a small Windows virtual desktop.

Amlogic S905x x96 bricked: red light, no windows box, no reset button

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply.
I have a macbook and a raspberry, tried to run virtualbox with linux on the mac but it couldn't see the attached usb device (don't know if it's related to having everything connected through an usb c hub and my lack of knowledge).
The raspie detected the tv box but not in burn mode and I cannot put it in that mode.
Should I try again with a virtualbox windows image? should I throw the box?

You are 100% right. I'll make a windows vm and see if can make some magic
These boxes are generally quite resistant, what about bootcamp on your mac?, used to have a small partition on my imac that had windows dual boot, it has official apple drivers for windows and is available to download via apple
https://support.apple.com/en-gb/boot-camp
Would have best chance of working as things will be native like USB rather than emulated

Didn't have any luck with virtualbox vm, didn't detect anything, but my mac also can see the device... but when I try to run the linux amlogic utilities, they say that there is no amlogic device connected (I guess is something related to different device paths between mac and linux).
Resuming: The board is detected, but I can't put it in burn mode... maybe I should give up this time for a while... after covid, maybe I can get someones windows pc...
Hopefully get it sorted
