Stock rooted/deodexed rom? - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone have a ROM for this phone that is COMPLETELY stock but rooted/deodexed? I want a rom that has NOTHING removed so I can choose what to remove.... That would be lovely

Yea..man it will be up sometime within the hour...just do not wipe data as CWR doesn't do that correctly and it sticks you in a boot loop...it is ok to wipe cache though

How would I not clear the data? If I install that ROM I just posted its going to get rid of root.

i wiped data before flashing debloat. Everyone is saying not to but i think clockwork fixed some of its problems with the phone. like the fact that it boots into recovery when you have it turned off and plugged in. mine hasnt done that and this is the first day ive been rooted

Mine is all jacked up...I have tried reflashing it, erasing, clearing cache, then reflashing recovery...it will not wipe my data at all. I can press wipe data and the only thing reset is my wifi password.

When you flash the rom, it will not automatically wipe data. I have set it to not do that since it put me in a boot loop with that set. Do not flash the rom you posted. That will completely revert you back to stock. My rom is that exact rom just deodexed and rooted with busybox installed. No other modifications made at all.

What exactly should I do to load this ROM though?

Are you rooted already? If not, root your phone first and get s-off...but assuming you have that done and already have a custom recovery (from rom manager), you just flash it via clock work recovery.

I think I'll keep your rom on my SD card as a backup after what I went through on Das BAMF

As a quick update, my internet is poking along right now... but this is taking twice as long as I thought it would since that dumb verizon golf game in itself is 139 MB...that app by itself almost doubled the size of the rom.

OK that method of flashing is what I though I'd have to do... So there is NOTHING removed from this ROM, right?

I've never had to. It is built into the rom until a new update is released. i know with these phones that *228 does nothing...

Peeps with issues with latest CWR

This is all done in ROM Manager: clear your download cache, check erase recovery before flashing in the settings, re-flash latest CWM, be happy
Hit menu and you will see the button to clear the download cache, hit menu and then settings and you will see the check box to erase recovery.
Thank Slayher guys, not me, he's the one who fixed it
You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar. This worked perfectly!
It worked pretty good, thanks a lot.

CW?
Is this for CW 3.0.2.4? And where is the download cache? Sorry for stupid question, I haven't upgraded to latest recovery because of said problems.
I just installed V3.0.2.4. Would that be the right version?
confirmed working mostly, havent tested on a restore yet, made a backup and installed a zip fine. no format in this zip though. in RM press menu and you you will see clear cache. and yes this is for 3.0.2.4
make sure under menu you also click erase recovery. this will erase recovery partition before flashing new recovery.
Nice find!
Just for reference sake....why do we want to erase a recovery partition prior to installing a new recovery

Just to make sure that it's wiped clean before a new flash, the same reason you should do a complete wipe before bouncing to a different ROM.

Do you have to keep erase recovery checked once you reflash the recovery? Or is this a one time deal then revert back to unchecked in settings?

I dont see how it would hurt to leave it checked... deleting every time until we establish a stable recovery is probably your best bet for now...
thanks for this tip

Does this new version handle kernel flashing now?

This was not the case for me. I did a restore using 3.0.2.2 and everything works great except for the market. I get a fc after downloading an app, right as it's trying to install. Does any have any suggestions?

Need Help Please!

Hey All,
Ok so I have a problem and please excuse the dumb questions as I am new to Motorola (I came from the EVO).My device is rooted and bootstrap recovery installed and I created a backup of my normal setup. I tried to install the Alien ROM (I am not unlocked) and I did a wipe ect. the ROM will boot but I can't get past the touch here Android icon and I get a bunch of force closes.
I turned the phone off, put the wall charger in and I can not get back into recovery by holding the power and volume down to install my nandroid. My phone is stuck.....I can see fastboot but I don't know how to get back into my recovery.
Please help!!!!
Now that I think of it, my backup was on internal and the wipe might have erased the backup and bootstrap.....what the heck do I do now?

It probably didn't erase your backup. You can always use rsdlite and flash cm5.

Thats probably where I ran into an issue....as I see it says flash zip then reboot. Then flash theme after.... I am going to try and use RSD lite and CM5. Then go from there.

Thanks MAX, I am so used to the EVO and flashing a rom and theme in the same recovery I didnt think twice about it....Lesson learned.
So I need to use RSD Lite and flash CM5. Then root again, install bootstrap, backup current rom. Then flash Alien, reboot, then flash theme and I should be ok?
Thanks for all of the help everyone, I got it resolved and fixed

one more question

if i backed up my system before flashing my rom, and i want to install a new rom, do i back up the current rom then wipe everything then load the new rom?
If you want to, you don't have to, just make sure you have at least one system back up just in case you get a bootloop or something to restore.
whats a bootloop? and remember how you told me to back up my system the first time, thats the only one i need? like i can just put rom on sd card wipe then install?

That's correct, a bootloop is when you install a rom and it keeps reboot or gets stuck on the bootanimation without actually going into android.

[Q] hyperdrive toggles not showing up

I installed hyperdrive on my Verizon s4 and the first time I did it, the Wi-Fi and air gesture toggles were there, but I made a mistake so I had to reflash and when I did that everything worked great except now I'm back to just the stock toggles. Anyone know where to edit this?

Ijust installed a few games I had backed up and ran v6... didn't do anything special, just basically did what it told me to do. your post got me thinking if I actually did wipe everything correctly though, so I'm doing a backup right now and I'll reflash again. thanks

Seeing as this is the first time I've heard of that, I would have to assume that I am not!
When I restored this time, I just installed all my apps, no settings. I had to redo all of my settings but that was no big deal

[Q] Viper redline rom reboots

So I found another thread like this but couldn't seem to find an answer. I am new to rooting and wanted to put the viper rom on my phone. But after I install it the phone just keeps rebooting, it will get to viper and then flash my lockscreen and go straight to a reboot. So steps I did to get the rom.
First I went to fast boot and fastboot flash boot boot.img. Then I went into recovery (I have 4ext) activated smart flash and factory restored/wiped my phone. Lastly I installed the zip file from recovery window. I have s-on but that shouldn't matter the way I did it right? I am not sure I did everything right but I have done smooth criminal on my phone and that worked fine, just that my wifi radio stopped working which is weird. Any help would be appreciated I am a noob =]

In ROM thread it says if you have problems flashing, go to recovery and flash ROM again. So try that, don't wipe anything, just flash zip and see if that helps

Try some other ROM. If the phone boots fine, try Viper again, but don't flash boot.img before, just wipe and flash from recovery. And make sure smartflash is turned on
