Yea..man it will be up sometime within the hour...just do not wipe data as CWR doesn't do that correctly and it sticks you in a boot loop...it is ok to wipe cache though

i wiped data before flashing debloat. Everyone is saying not to but i think clockwork fixed some of its problems with the phone. like the fact that it boots into recovery when you have it turned off and plugged in. mine hasnt done that and this is the first day ive been rooted

When you flash the rom, it will not automatically wipe data. I have set it to not do that since it put me in a boot loop with that set. Do not flash the rom you posted. That will completely revert you back to stock. My rom is that exact rom just deodexed and rooted with busybox installed. No other modifications made at all.

Are you rooted already? If not, root your phone first and get s-off...but assuming you have that done and already have a custom recovery (from rom manager), you just flash it via clock work recovery.
I think I'll keep your rom on my SD card as a backup after what I went through on Das BAMF
As a quick update, my internet is poking along right now... but this is taking twice as long as I thought it would since that dumb verizon golf game in itself is 139 MB...that app by itself almost doubled the size of the rom.
OK that method of flashing is what I though I'd have to do... So there is NOTHING removed from this ROM, right?

Are there any clear benefits of one recovery over the other? I'm a fan of TeamWin but I'm comfortable with CWM... Is either recovery clearly superior?
Preference is the deciding factor.
Appreciate my help? Thank me
Not sure which one is better, but i've been using ClockworkMod 4.0.1.4 that came with Revolutionary S-OFF tool and it's worked flawlessly so far.

I'm a big fan of Rom Manager. I use it to organize my backups. I've used since day one of the OG Evo and never had a problem with it. If anyone is having any bugs, go into the market and download rom manager and update clockwork mod recovery. Mines working flawlessly!
I remember a long time ago, people claimed that clockwork recovery had a problem with wiping cache and dalvik cache. Is that still an issue? Thats the only reason I stopped using rom manager back in the day.

there shouldnt be any issues when flashing the newest clockwork right? say, making a backup in the CWM that came with REVO and then trying to restore it with the newest clockwork? i feel like that is an issue simply because i made a backup of my stock rom with the newest recovery and i got the MD5 error, and i cant restore it. im doing a full backup and restore test right now, ill report back.
EDIT:alright so i was able to do a full restore with the newest clockwork. i guess i just got a bad NAND on my stock rom. and the funny thing is the same thing happend with a stock rom on my G2. what causes this damn MD5 error?
That would be appreciated by many here... Don't want to get stuck with no way to restore

You need a custom recovery to flash roms such as cm7. It is also used to make a backup of your phone and wipe the data on your phone. How is it that you've flash cm7 (which means that you've also used your recovery before) yet you don't know the purpose of having a recovery? I think you're going way to ahead of yourself.
Sent from my LG-P509 using xda premium
I'm guessing it's more of a case of he's flashed cm7, using the recovery to do so, but doesn't understand the behind-the-scenes procedures that go into the actual flashing.
you need to read the sticky thread if you dont know basics
Think of custom recovery as the basic setup/installer tool for anything and everything related to custom ROMs, kernels, etc. .
kdz and lgdrm are only for stock(OEM)/official releases.
The reason you need it, because it's the only way to do it and carrier's don't give you access to change your ROM. Does Microsoft put mod chips/software in xbox 360? No, hell no, they only give you limited access and regulate what content can be yours.
Custom recoveries come with features that you normally can't do, like nand(full phone backup) backup.
It's this way because that's how it has to be done.

Just because your phone is "rooted" dosent mean you can install a rom like a app, you need to use clockwork mod, why do you need it? you need it because it allows you to perform actions that you couldn't do on a stock phone. With clockwork mod you can back up your system files, restore system files, install new roms for use or testing. If your phone is just "rooted" all it means is you can now access system files, use certain "root required" apps, being rooted is step #1 to installing clockwork mod, its like your phone is unlocked, if you just want your phone rooted to delete some system apps thats fine, but it is wise to flash clockwork mod because it can prevent your phone from being bricked and now you can install roms. so the answer is pretty simple, how else would you install a rom without clockwordmod? you couldnt so its just one of those things you need, hope this helps man
reply
apart from all this custom roms come packed as zip files n kdz updater or lgdrm doesnt recognize these files so u need to hace custom recoveries like cmw or twrp or amonra

I don't think that you could do that... since the phone doesn't even come with CM7 in the first place. Doing a factory reset / restore wouldnt bring the phone to stock CM7. Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't it bring the phone back to FroYo since that's what it came with?
CM7 is already a custom ROM so there is nothing stock about it... Stock means whatever the phone came with from the box (FroYo) CM7 is Gingerbread.

If your running cm7 or any rom you can do a factory/reset through the rom your using, it will just erase all info but wont delete the rom and it will delete apps so when you reboot you will have to set up Google account like a new phone, cm7 will still be installed and your current rom it will just be like new, to do a factory reset go to settings, security then hit factory reset, reboot and then back to a clean start on cm7 there will be a option to erase everything on the SD card, hit no if you want to keep all files on your SD or hit yes if you want it all gone, goodluck p.s the only way you can go back to stock is to flash a stock rom and if you made a backup of your stock rom before you flashed cm7

Yes i tried factory reset in recovery. i wanted android 4.4 kitkat on my phone and i googled and searched how to do it.
So i followed these steps from this website:galaxys2root.com (srry but i can't place any links cause im new)
First i needed to root my phone so i did that following these steps: galaxys2root.com and when it was done i got CWM Recovery v6.0.2.7 and it was good so far but i also wanted to clear my usb storage and after all that i formatted my usb storage. So now i was ready to put android 4.4 on my phone but they recommended to have a higher version of the CWM recovery by installing cm11: galaxys2root.com
I tried to install CM11 on my phone in recovery mode and it said: 'installation aborted' so i thought, ok maybe it just doesn't work and i rebooted and i was in CWM again. I rebooted a couple of times but it was stuck in CWM. I tried factory reset after i was stuck in CWM but it didn't help.
just flash phill or siyah kernel with odin and then flash pound rom or other 4.4 rom you prpbably have ome with bad recovery

So did you try and install on that recovery or did you update before the flash? You need to update to latest cwm recovery before you flash cm11 unofficial.

Don't know but i've had this problem before when my phone worked fine.
After half a day i tried to charge it and when i put the micro-usb in it i saw the battery logo for 1 sec and it disappeared.
after a day i tried to charge it again and it worked.
so i tried to charge it an hour ago and i saw the battery logo for a sec so it will maybe boot again.
I think something is wrong with my battery i also wanted to replace the battery cause it runs out fast.
Oh and what do i do after it boots? Go in download mode and flash something with odin?

Could well be a bad battery. Best bet is take it to a shop and test a battery but saying that if it runs out of charge quickly then battery will be on its way out. Yes flash stock with Odin then reroot ect ect. When you test the battery don't buy it right away just incase you end up wasting money on a dead phone. Check and make sure it works first then buy it.

For stock kernel with root and cwm you can't really beat Philz. Get the zip and put it on ext SD and flash it as the update in stock recovery 3e.

You can use Odin to flash this. You can get either zip or tar file of this kernel.
I am new on i9100 but I think that phillz and siyah kernel is designed for 4.1 not 4.4 android.
My best advice is to flash a stock rom and after you have the certitude that all are ok you can make an efs backup and then follow an XDA instructions to flash a 4.4 ROM. Read all posts from the thread of the rom that you what to install.
My think is that you need a full battery to flash. A new battery is not relevant in your case because the new battery can be empty and it will not charge during the kernel problem.

Okay guys, my phone is not booting up at all.
- I flashed hyperdrive, didn't like it and went to safestrap.
- I factory reseted, and tried to restore my old backup of the stock rom.
- I rebooted the phone, now it won't boot up anymore.
Was the backup corrupted? Now I only have stock recovery since safestrap didn't stick, and no rom, so I can't do anything.
Any way to install safestrap using adb or some sort? Please help me out, I'm in need of a phone

there is a reason why hashcode set up safestrap to keep stock rom safe and why he offers no support to those who wish (at their peril) to flash a custom rom over the stock rom.
I have my rom stock rom intact and have 2 rom slots loaded each with there own custom rom and with a 32gb extsd card, have no issues with memory space.
