Best Battery Life - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Out of all the roms out now, which is getting you the best battery performance?
Aside from being smooth - long life is most important to me - so wanted to know if people are getting 2 days or more? .

I find wolfbreaks cm6.1 very good on battery life. I can squeeze out 1.5 days without a charge.
But it also depends upon how frequently you use the phone and what apps you use. If you are a power wifi user then battery will drain pretty quickly.

With the rom of rendeiro2005 I also do 1,5 day .

+1 for rendeiro2005's ROM. same thing with me too.
Sent from XDA Premium from my X10a rooted running 2.2.1 CM Rom from Rendeiro2005

I'm using stock 2.1 -rooted + JIT + removed timescape.. I'm getting 1.5 -2 days too.. but only when I'm at home and permanently connected to Wifi.. when I'm travelling with WCDMA switched on I get a day.. 3G/GPRS is a really battery killer for me.

I see ^^ Thanks
I'm mainly concerned with the battery that drains when it's supposed to be asleep. I installed achotjan's and left it as it was without any extra apps installed and over 8 hours it only went down about 4%. I'm currently on nearly 24 hours and still at 69% gradually installing various apps that I use daily to find the one that is zombieing on me ^^;.
So far I like that rom though^^ I'll check out the other ones you're recommending as well once I find the zombie app.

Using stock 2.1 for now 2.1.1.A.0.16 x10i, Rooted + JIT v2 enabled, Timescape/Mediascape replaced by Music and Gallery 3D, Wi-fi always ON and constantly monitoring Quadrant score. I'm currently 34hours with 41% left. Not really bad

I'd like 2.1 and all if it wasn't for google's better gmail app being for 2.2 and up .

I am running Wolfbreaks CM 6.1.3 [V05] 2.2.1 froyo rom with update 053 and my battery life has increased noticeably over the SE Generic 2.1.1 rom. It's been 2 days and i still have 20% battery left and i have been using it a lot. so far I am pretty happy with this rom.

Using wolf's CM 6.1.3 V053 right now.2 days without a charge.3G always on.It's a quite stable rom for daily use.Like it~

Wolf's 6.1, juice defender and set CPU with minimum speed when screen's off. I'm constantly downloading/streaming but with this I still get a full days usage. With 2.1 I needed to plug it in after 6 hours...

Mine using stock SE 2.1 Rom, 2.1.54 Baseband rooted.
I was using it for atleast an average of 1 hour daily browsing(full website)
30min facebook update interval(3g always on)
rotate sensor always on
brightness set to auto(using widgetsoid)
Zeam as default launcher
installed dogwatch but doesnt really use it
I use automemory optimizer.
remove stuff such as timescape and other se apps that I am not using(I don't necessarily called them crap just because I dont find use for them).
I haven't tried any custom rom, since this works for me without a hitch. (IMO).

MIUI lasts for 1.5 days with heavy usage, and 2 / 2.5 days with medium / light usage...

Hey, You should use CM7.2 A6 with goldenleaf 6DEC LG for the best battery life ... I usually get 28-32 hrs battery backup with light-moderate usage,, which includes-
-1 hr 2G data
-2hr texting
-1/2hr fruit ninja
-2.5hr Wifi
EDIT:you need to flash old baseband from your PC before you can use other custom ROMs
HIT THANKS IF IT HELPED YOU
Go for Openoptimus build 2.202.1+paolo v6 kernel. ..
definitely the best combo. ..
offers more than 2 days of battery with moderate use to me. ..
stunning gb rom. ..
follow the proper instructions of flashing as mentioned by bytecode. ..
and everything shud be just fine. ..
I LOVE THAT ROM. ..
I'm a heavy 3g user ..(all d time when my screen is on for downloads n browsing) ,2g when screen off for fb chat!must say no rom offers a solution! I felt new baseband roms gave slightly better battery with 3g !but Im on cyanogen based rom since I can't sacrifice customizations!
Oxygen v1.1 has good battery, also adfads A6 is really nice!get urself goldenleaf lg kernel! Also Google on how to improve battery!I prefer setting minimum frequency at 122(many say it not correct) but I get some extra juice when my phone is on standby!!

how do you have your phone switch from 3g to 2g when screen is off....? do you manually go into the settings and change it to 2g or is there an app that automatically does it?
also how would i go about switching from a .35 rom to a .32? is it just a simple flash of the rom from my recovery?
Bump...?
would anyone like to share more battery saving tips/roms?
Don't use your phone as much

[VOTE][01/2012]Best Battery Comparison

Hi friends,
I would like to know your thoughts about what Official or Custom ROM has the best battery life, as this is, at least for me, one of the most important points when you want to update your phone.
This is a simple thread, just post:
- Complete name of the Custom or Official ROM, and its baseband ROM. (and link to it so we can thank the developer)
- Time you expend using different apps, wifi, 3G, etc... (for example 3 hours of Whatsapp, 2 hours on games, 1h voice calls...)
- Aprox. time your battery lasts.
- Optional: you can add a screenshot of your 'Battery Use' screen.
Let's see which one is the best!
As for me:
- Custom Rom: TheMyth ICS beta 2, baseband 2.3.6 KPP
- About 5 hours using Whatsapp, Wifi activated all time, 5 hours 3G, 1 hour surfing the internet, no gaming, a few short calls.
- It lasts around 11-13 hours.
Official 2.3.6, Baseband s5830xwkt3, so called Nordic Version.
About 17-19 hours in total.
6 hours display on, browsing web with Opera Mini and using Nimbuzz messenger. GPRS/EDGE. Yesterday even 7 hours display on, which is very good in my opinion. Display runs on lowest brightness.
ICS final. Lagfree v1 and the new scrolling battery fix and I've used 4% battery in 3 hours of constant use. Screens on lowest setting as well. Pretty amazed with the difference actually.

How the hell do you manage that? I'm running the same rom with the same script. Is the scrolling and the battery fix in the script or you edited the build.prop? What have you been doing with the constant use? Do you use 3G or edge or what?
Lol I'm really amazed.
um, I reckon the battery you get when you buy your phone is real ****, so I'm gonna buy a brand new battery and hopefully it lasts longer

I think here is referring to this - Precise Volume Control, Smooth Scrolling and Battery Drain Fix
My battery drained 14% in an hour running whatsapp, ymail, email, ymessenger, and make a 15 minutes of call. Using CM7.2 RC0 Kang ROM, lagfree v1 script, turboboost 8.5, Precise Volume Control, Smooth Scrolling and Battery Drain Fix, and touchscreen fix

[q] cm9/ics... Why?

apart from fulfilling the need to flash new roms... what are the advantages over a stable CM7 and CM9 as it now stands?
and!! apart from it being (just?) another new rom... what will the advantages of CM9 (stable) over CM7?
Well, there are several important advantages of running CM7 instead of stock. Most notable are huge improvements in speed and battery life. I use my Atrix fairly often, including an hour or so of GBA emulation as part of my daily routine (gba games at the gym = fun cardio workout).
On CM7, my battery generally lasts at least 24 hours despite games and other moderate usage. And when I use it lightly, I've actually gone a day, a night and another day on multiple occasions without charging. Note that this is while 3G is turned on and push notifications/update intervals are at default values.
And as I mentioned, speed. The speed improvement is huge.
CM9 (which I'm using now, Beta 0.1.0) improves speed even more, has about the same battery life and a hugely improved interface. The new gmail app is fantastic, and the stock browser is much better. There are really big updates all around the board. If you get CM9, make sure you get Joker's build with the 2D fix.
I've been on the Ba2TF build for quite some time now is the joker build as stable?
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
I've been running jokers build daily for quite some time. It is still a tad glitchy, but all main components including the camera work. Most issues lay with the 2d, but he us doing an amazing job at popping out fixes quickly. Battery life, for me at least, blows any GB rom out of the water, which is why I'm not going back.

As I mentioned above the battery life seems night and day from CM7, under light use my battery will last 2 days on jokers build, 17 hrs was my best on CM7.
I also find it to be quite snappy for being in a very early beta stage, my cfbench score is beating my friends Amaze 4g overclocked to 1.7
Give it a try, its in my opinion the best rom our atrix has going for it.

I'll be going over to CM9 as soon as the next version is released. I'm trying to wait as much as possible so I can get a stable version.
Jokersax CM9, Faux 1.0GHz 025 CM9 kernel with mild UV, ADW-EX, and 37P radio. Running smooth as a snail trail with great battery life!
Daily driver now.
ICS by Jokersax runs very smooth, I have Faux123 1gHZ cm9 running as well as nova launcher beta. I recommend Nova launcher over Stock launcher by Trebuchet. Battery lasts way longer than Gingerbread'blur roms.

[Q] [Active] Battery drain in ICS

Should the battery drain in ICS version be so bigger than in gingerbread stock version?
I use MiniCMSandwich Lite AOSP but even with gouvernor and io scheduler set, the battery is gone in less than a day...
Do you have any ideas? I disable all unnecessary functions when not used.. :/
Likely yes because ICS is more demanding.

So in general, with the same usage behaviour, ICS will have greater power consumption than Gingerbread? I also have Huawei U8800 with Aurora ICS installed and didn't see such a difference compared to stock 2.3 firmware :/

ICS is bigger, more powerful, which means it will require more power from the phone and also more juice.
i used active n lww. both are using ics. but, the active the battery drain is so much more than lww. even when i try to use stock rom n kernel (my lww bootloader can't be unlocked) my lww stil can survive 1d 14h (even more) , but my active can survive max only 1 day..
i use both with the same usage of call , internet , messaging
My active lasts almost two days with data/wifi always on and normal usage, a few days ago, without any gaming i had 56hrs running before i had to recharge...I use JD plus and performance boosting scripts (and anonmous' excellent kernel) and also i use miui (but i think any rom can use it) which has lbe guard which allows to prevent any app from autostarting
yup, I've noticed this too. ICS drains battery way too fast. I'm using Active and have tried both stock rom/kernel and custom rom/kernel based on ICS. Now I'm back to GB, Spartan ROM / Rage kernel, battery lasts a little bit longer, half a day more I think. What's the practical advantage of ICS anyway? I really didn't notice any, hehe.

something wrong. i have active and i tried many roms and kernels and always battery keeps 1d 12h - 2d 6h my favorite set smartasv2 and noop, cpu max805 min134 ,2g,hasa miui rom + rage kernel. if i listen all day music and playing games then battery keeps 1 day

What's the best stable Rom with good battery.

I ve tried jesters, bamf and almost all the ICS leaks. Currently on nusense everything is stable Gps, tethering, just the battery life is really bad on all. as good as when I had SHIFTSENSE.GB. I am willing to go back to gingerbread.

Just recently flashed thundershed 1.6 with IMO kernel and have easily been getting 16+ hours with moderate use.

From what I understand ICS builds are all the new drivers for the CPU/GPU. What this means is that the gingerbread ROMs would only allow the CPU to work during normal browsing and it would enable the GPU for games this is why we can undervolt the phone so much in gingerbread because it does not use the GPU and the CPU simultaneously. As you can imagine if you enable the CPU/GPU to work simultaneously it will then drain the battery much faster than before. All in all it is based on your usage however there is a big difference between gingerbread and ICS. I would only suggest using ICS if your phone is not your current phone. When I upgrade I plan to keep my phone for browsing only and I will be upgrading to an ICS build given everything works. Also if you want better battery life and you have not upgraded to the resound battery go get one online or at a Verizon store it fits perfectly in our phone and gives much more battery life
