I finally got my Ram-Mount Tab-Tite and thought I'd share some photos.

Note that in the last shot, the 'stand' is not included with the Tab-Tite. You have to buy whatever type of mounting hardware fits your needs.
Once I get this mounted in my truck, I'll share a few more pics.
very cool. makes me consider figuring out how to do the gps teathering.
OK. Go it mounted in the truck:
I have a small Bluetooth GPS (velco'd to the dash right above the tablet. The USB cable to the GPS is just for charging/power.
Of course you can see my phone & Zune setup too. I use the Zune for media rather than the tablet.
So, you have a Hitchikers Guide, a vogon poetry playback device, and a babelfish Droid X model, but where is all important towel? Or did you need it after you were done with this, being so pleased with yourself? Just kidding. It looks really good.
Cool!
Thanks for the lead,
This is what I was looking for for my [email protected]
Pictures coming soon!
and a ZUNE! how awesome!
Which mount system did you use to set this up?
second, now that you've used the tab-Tite, how do you feel it performs in holding the tablet? It looks like in the pictures you have it situated in the middle of the end holders. Did you place something at edges to keep it there, or is it holding by itself? The one thing I worry about is how the spring loaded arms do their job. Are they held secure? and how easily does your tab come in and out of the holder? Thanks...

I have the post mount (see my pictures at the beginning of the thread) screwed to the base of the center console. This is a pretty stable & secure setup. I get some minor vibrations/bouncing when I hit bumps (this is a truck, btw .. not a cadillac ) But all in all it's very stable.
The tablet is pretty easy to insert & remove into the holder. The holder does an admirable job of holding onto the tablet. Just out of habit, when I put the tablet in, I then to semi-center it in the holder (so that there is 'open' space above and below the tablet). After riding a bit, some of bounces/vibrations will let the tablet slide down a bit in the holder, but not much. Again, this has proven to be a pretty stable platform.
I try to leave the mount tight enough so that it won't move, but I can still grab the mount with both hands and tilt/adjust if I need to.
The reason I wanted this type of mount rather than a custom/fixed mount is for screen glare. When the sun comes in at various angles, the screen is unusable. This setup allows me to move/tilt the tablet just enough in any direction to avoid sunlight.
After having used this for a while now, I'm finding that the console area is a little cluttered. With my phone holder, a drink, etc all vying for space. Makes entering addresses into the tablet a little tough.
I'm now thinking about moving the mount up to the area where the ZUNE is now, and just letting it 'stick out'. If I decide to move it, I'll post some more pictures.
I was looking at that one, but was worried that it stated a .56" depth max, and gtab having a .7" depth. I think I will be picking this one up. As far as a pole mount and where to mount it, I had two thoughts. Mount through furthest cupholder from driver to base of floor. With cupholders in the door of my Blazers, didn't think this would be an issue. If that's too close, I might investigate mounting base to pass. side of center hub if ball mounts would allow proper angles to use. O some other way...whatever comes up.

Spend a little time looking through Ram-Mounts parts lists. These things are almost like Lego's ... you can match them together to make just about any combination.
Before going to this setup with the tablet, I used to use their tough-mount laptop solution along with a vehicle specific base mount. Might look to see if they make seat-bolt pattern mount for your vehicle. Then you can put a pole mount, or any other setup straight to that base without drilling/screwing up your vehicle.
I decided to move the mount up on the dash a little bit. Gives me a much better viewing angle and easier to enter addresses, etc.
I get a little bit of 'bounce', but very manageable.
Pics:
Looks great. absolutely perfect. good job.
They sell a Xoom version aswell, and the dimensions look like the gtab could fit perfectly.
What u reckon??

HOLY DASH MOUNT!! You are going to have to use street view instead of the windshield to see where you are. LOL I'm sure there will be better options soon
Hi,
I'm using one similar to that but mine's a vent mount and its pretty awesome i think. The reason I got one of these friction beasts is so that i can use it with my gps and phone. Yours seems to be better than the vent mount because it swivels. Mine doesn't swivel. But overall it works and its a very good multi tasker. I usually have it on landscape and don't use the little prongs. The foam pads are good enough to hold both my phone and gps.
I bought a cheap one from Frys for $15, it has a very similar clamping design but uses a flexible gooseneck and a suction mount. It works well, the friction mount part holds the phone well. I am not a huge fan of the gooseneck though. I cant wait to get back home and start modding on it, I think I can make it much better!
G1 Windshield Mount
I purchased a windshield car mount from pocket solutions. Works great and built well.

This type of mount actually blocks the charge port so you can't charge it while in the car. Kinda a deal killer because GPS uses so much power. Phone will be dead when I get to my destination.
I ordered one of those that said it had 3 clips instead of the 4 but they sent me one with 4. Then the ebay seller, lovelypriceelement, emailed me back saying that the 3 clips one doesn't exist EVEN THOUGH IT SAYS ON THE PAGE THAT THE USB PORT ISN'T BLOCKED!
Don't buy this if you want to charge in the car.

I wish I remember where i got mine. It took me 3 different ones before i found one i liked, bought them retail....just kept returning them until the 4th was the best (around $25). It has 2 clips that clip onto the vent, and a support arm between the clips that rests again the vent, doesnt move at all and the charge port is completely accessible.

If you could find out where you got that one, that would be great. Looking for a more elegant solution to mount my G1 in my car.
I've seen the vent mount one at Staples but I don't know if it would work in my car. How long are the arms that clip onto the vent. I have a Mazda 6 and my vents are like the one in the middle of this picture:

For those who have used the vent clip mount, do you think that it would mount to the vents just above the radio in that picture? When open they have a curved front and they are a bit deeper than the average vent.
wrong thread.

So far so good... it's has this dumb photo holder (the clear plastic thing) and it came with a pic of an asian chick posed over a car! LOL!
But it's hefty, solid and not a goose neck.
I have read the numerous threads on mounting a G-Tab into a car.
I have not gotten a good enough idea or gauge as to what people were using or their success rate or satisafaction.
So I'd like to ask all who have mounted a G-Tab into their car how they did, are they satisifed with it, where they got it, and if they could post some pics of the mount.
I've been looking at some of the mounts from Ram Mounts, and Mount Guys and I just hate throwing away money on a product that doesn't work right or ends up being junk.
If anybody has came up with a good home made sloution post that up as well.
Thanks....

I have had a few Ram-Mount setups for laptops in the past and I think their mounts are excellent.
I actually have the Tab-Tite mount you listed on order. Once I get it, I'll post some pics.
Last word I got from the shipping dept was that it should be released at the end of Feb. Hoping to get it soon.
looks good..

Here's what the center of my car looks like. If anybody has any good ideas to mount this to be used as a 10" GPS I would love to here your ideas.

Just an update on the Tab-Tite. I heard back from Ram-Mount yesterday. They had to make a small design change and it's pushed back release date until next week.
Will post pics when(if?) I get mine
I built a cupholder mount out of some PVC pipe, a gooseneck lamp, some oak 1x2s and a couple of T-brackets. I designed it so I could swap the tab mount for my phone mount, and it works well enough, but having to swap out the mounting hardware isn't the most ideal situation, so I'm looking at either a flexible redesign that can switch (Transformers-style) between tab mount and phone mount or a more semi-permanent, hinged mount that would put my tablet over my stereo, giving me the convenience of having my media and navigation solution in the place I would normally look for it, but the flexibility to flip it up and out of the way if I needed to look at the stock system for one reason or another. Then I could leave the cellphone hardware attached to the cupholder mount, allowing me to raise my phone above dash level. Admittedly, I don't know why I would want to do this yet, but it seems like a good idea...

EDIT: Actually a car mount with a rigid arm is better so it doesn't hang down.
I'd like some feedback on the Mount Guys Gooseneck floor mount or from anyone using a gooseneck floor mount from another company. I did a search and couldn't find anyone talking about this mounting solution.

The Mount Guys customer support says it will adequately support up to about 3 lbs.
I know that other companies make these types of gooseneck mounts. Is anyone using this one or one from another company and how happy are you with it. How stable are these mounts? Is there a lot of movement and shaking of the tablet when driving with the gooseneck mount?
I purchased the Mount Guys cupholder mount for the G-Tablet and it just isn't cutting it.
It's not stable enough to hold the G-tablet. The tablet moves back and forth with just the slightest touch. I think if you hit a big pothole the tablet could potentially be damaged. Also one of the plastic pieces that was glued came off. The glue just isn't strong enough for a tablet that weighs 1.8 lbs.
I just picked one up myself. I have a Camry and really saw it as my only mount option. I do like it. But it does move a lot as driving. I plan on going to ace hardware and picking up something like this and mount it to the console. It should keep it in place a bit more.
I gave up trying to mount this thing. The last one I put my tablet on flew backward on first acceleration.

Yeah, that's why I am not even going to bother with this for my daily driver.
It is a convertible roadster and I drive at 9/10 most of the time so the tablet would be on the floor a lot.
I have yet to have it fall out. but when I first put it together I put the head of the mount on upside down and it fell right off. I turned it around and it went in fine and I have had no issues with it.
I recieved this mount yesterday and installed it this morning for my drive to work. I installed the holder to be in the portrait mode. Of note I have a very stiff suspension, what would be considered uncomfortable to the majority of normal people.
The actual head held the tablet very well. I made sure it was tight, and am a little concerned becusae as tight as I made it there is a bit of flex in the plastic. Really cranking down on it though kept it secure in the vertical, except for one very large bump o nmy drive that caused the tablet to slide down about two inches in the holder. Once moved back up had no problems for the rest of the drive.
As mentioned above, with the length of the gooseneck this thing moves around a ton. So much that it is almost unusable right now. Again, very stiff suspension here, but I feel because of the length it wouldn't be stable in any car. I knew this going in since it was a single point mount, but was willing to give it a shot for the money.
I have to play with it a bit, but I think that I will be able to greatly improve the performance by doing something to tie it into the center console of my vehicle. Even just a piece of string from the mount to a solid point on the dash would help out a lot I think. The key is maintaining the functionality without making it look like a mess. Once I come up with something I will attach some pictures with results as well.
Of note, it worked great for navigation (Pre-loaded Google Maps via the cache for now) and my bluetooth OBD-II scanner as well.
Well, quick update, just moving the mount around a bit so that one corner was resting on the center console did wonders. It puts the tablet a bit low due to the stick shift, but it's a compromise for right now. I personally think it's the right price, I am not going to he working on this thing while driving, but the large display for navigation is excellent and with the current positioning it is right next to my hand and makes simple quick navigation easy while in the car.
Using this when I want to have G-Tab act as large GPS unit (or watch movies while driving):
It is a tad wobbly but seems secure enough with the bean bag holder.
Where did you get it. I have been looking for something similar.
And it is kept cool being in front of the A/C vents.

No, I just got this mount in after two weeks in shipping and it does not fit properly. My G-Tab is just a bit wider than the maximum distance the mounts arms can be extended. A G-Tab can BARELY fit if you force the arms apart a bit wider but it is stressing the plastic a good bit. Plus, with the mount joining the mounting bracket being off center it stresses the stability of the assembly once mounted and the G-Tab bobbles noticeably on rough roads. I have mine mounted with the tab up as the suction cup is mounted to the console of my truck. My advice is to avoid this and spend your money elsewhere. I most likely will be getting a different mount simply because the tab is in the mount so tightly that it is inconvenient to get in and out of the mount. Also, the brackets interfere with the on-off switch of the Tab, as well as some of the buttons on the front of the Tab.

Are you sure we are talking about the same product ?
I have the mount and I can get my gtab in/out (even without removing it from its leather) without a problem.
The mount is advertised for the ipad (7.31" width) and can't see how it should not fit the gtab (10.5" wide).
Also the brackets (as can be seen in the OP) attaches to the gtab from bottom and top (midway) there shouldn't be any interference with the (left/right) sides (where the power button is location) or with the bezel edge (where the buttons are located).
The holder works for both gtab and much wider ipad, I highly suggest you contact buyincoins.com and make sure they send you the correct product.

Looking for options for mounting the galaxy view on a wall for home calendar and kitchen use. Considering right now simply hanging it on the handle portion of the kickstand and having it tilted downward because of that. Would love if they made a flat rear panel replacement.
Any other mounting solutions that could permanently mount it to a wall?

Unfortunately all wall mounts I've used for TVs have been Vesa mounts which definitely won't work for the galaxy view. Hoping for some other off the shelf solution though... Don't really want to home brew unless it's my only choice.
Thanks for the idea though!

Maybe there are models that work on monitors without VESA holes? I think I remember seeing some that use clamps.

Any other mounting solutions that could permanently mount it to a wall?

Search Amazon for: "Padholdr Fit View 18.4 Tablet Holder Gloss Black Designed Specifically for the Samsung View 18.4 Tablet"
Not cheap but people seem happy with it.

I did some searching around and the Padholdr Fit View 18.4 was the only consumer option I found for mounting the Galaxy View. They certainly aren't cheap, but I plan to use my Galaxy View tablets in public for customers to browse on. So the Padholdr really did fulfill a lot of my needs... even though the price was a gut punch, haha... and I needed to buy 4 of them. But if I just needed a way to mount the tablet at home, I am pretty sure I would have custom made my own way to mount it and not spent the $145usd on each Padholdr. (The flat black face plate option is $5 more... suckered me in a few more dollars, haha). I have only just started using them, but so far no complaints. They are sturdy units, provide good security, and can be attached to many styles of Vesa mounts. They shipped out my order quick, everything with the order went well.

My 2 cents, I just bought one of these for the kitchen, planning to remove the kickstand to mount it on the wall, but I found the tablet quite versatile and now I want to use it in other rooms so a fixed mounting option having the kickstand removed wouldn't work for me.
I have some ikea rails in the kitchen so I just tried to hang it, doesn't play nice because the kickstand wants to open so it would end titled down, but it's something that can be sorted out. I'm sticking to this hack, in fact I'm buying a couple more rails to have more placement options.
Hope somebody else find this inspiring, here's how it looks:
