Hi all!
I recently flashed Trigger + Overstock. The problem is related to battery drain. I am trying to re-condition the battery/wipe battery stats...However, My battery will not charge to 100%. It stays at 99%. I assume this isn't normal. Wondering if anyone else has come across this before?
Any ideas? Or can someone point me in the correct direction to fixing this?

My devices usually stay at 97% no matter how long I charge it.. Sidekick 2008, iPod Touch, Vibrant, even my computer.
I'm not sure why.
Yeah...it's just weird. I mean it used to charge all the way up to 100% and even notify me that it was completely charged before I flashed it.
By no means am I complaining about it. I just was wondering if that was normal after a flash. Also, more importantly will re-conditioning of the battery still have the same effect even though it's not at 100%? That's my real concern to get good battery life without going back to stock.

I had the same issue for awhile and honestly it seemed to more or less resolve itself after a few charges. I don't know if that was just my experience of the ROM updating the battery stats.
Have you fully charged the battery and wiped the battery stats? Even after doing so, it may take a few charges for the ROM to fully recognize the proper battery levels.

Yeah, I fully charged it...well to 99%. Then wiped battery stats. Hopefully like you said it will correct itself after a few charges.
In regards to wiping the battery stats, did you use root explorer and delete the batterystats.bin file in the system folder or did you try to wipe the via the CW Recovery menu? I personally never had much luck doing it through the menu.

Has anyone else experienced any problems with their battery stats resetting themselves? Mine used to be accurate (at least in terms of running time since unplugged) -- but ever since I flashed to 1.5.7 (and got tremendously better battery life) -- when I check later on in the day I notice the stats seem to have reset at some point in the day.
This morning I unplugged at 8am exactly, and now checked at 7pm and my battery stats claimed 8hrs unplugged ....
Anyone else have this problem?
i am thinking that my battery life has gone down since applying the update, so i deleted the batterystats file last night and charged it over night.
i did not notice that the stats you mentioned were an issue on my phone, though. one of the few things i have been looking at is the uptime, and it seems to be accurate.
does anyone know for sure if the batterystats.bin file should be deleted just before the battery dies, or after a full charge on this phone?
I'm not sure if it's the same with the Atrix, but on my Samsung Galaxy-S we used to delete batterystats.bin right after full charge, then it would create a new one automatically and begin tracking.
where is it located on the Atrix?

Personally I would drain it until the end --- you're trying to gauge a full battery's worth right? Charging it mid-way wouldn't tell you much
thats what i thought too, but i havent done that in many months (since i had my nexus 1 and was flash happy). i did a search in this forum last night and the only thing i found suggested wipping the stats when the phone was almost dead, then charging with the phone off until full. in my head i thought delete the stats from full and then let it die, so i was unsure as to which way was right
Ok so I just tested and realized the battery stats RESET after a REBOOT ... doh~

I switched back to my stock battery after my extended died. I wiped battery stats, wiping stats when flashing new roms is recommended.
Wiping battery stats is never really considered an essential thing to do no matter what. It is nice though to do. I suggest it when you start realizing crap battery life on one ROM/kernel compared to the last one. The suggested way is to wipe it after installing a new kernel and as well as when you swap batteries. Other than that, really no need to in my eyes.
I wipe after every new ROM install, period.

This is when I do it also.
Digging up a thread here, didn't want to waste a new one.. But I have the OEM Extended Battery and I tried wiping my battery stats.. Charge full, reboot into recovery, wipe stats, unplug.. After this I noticed that my battery said 93% even tho the charge light was green.. I drained it until it turned off and charged again overnight.. In the AM, light was green, i turned phone on and its still showing 93% even though it was green. Any ideas? Did I lose that 7% forever?
Sometimes wiping the stats causes a bad battery read. A few reboots should get you back on track. If that doesn't work, try a full battery drain then a full charge. Let us know.
Will try that, even tho I kinda did already. I'm hoping with a few battery cycles the problem goes away.. What Im hoping is I don't need to bump charge now every time like I did when I had my inc

I doubt you lost anything. It would be like Spinal Tap having an amp which only went to 9.
I only had to wipe when my battery wasn't decreasing in percentage. After I wiped, it started decreasing like it should. I would think any fast reduction in percentage would be a bad battery.
Are there any proven facts out there that it is really ever necessary to wipe them? It's not like it actually improves battery life am I correct?
as far as wiping battery stats goes.
i have only used it when reconditioning a battery.
ie if you start noticing bad (read: worse that you have been getting) battery life after flashing a new rom or kernel. or just after a time using a standard rom.
what i do is
1 turn the phone off.
2 charge it on AC until it goes green and for an hour afterward.
3 unplug it and wait 30 seconds.
4 plug it back in and repeat step 3 until the light goes from red to green within 20 or so seconds. (this is called bump charging)
5 boot into CWR and wipe battery stats. and let it burn all the way down until it wont even turn on (flashing orange led)
6 charge to full and enjoy your maybe improved battery life.
when wiping battery stats, do i have to do it a few times or no? i wiped battery stats at full and drained battery until it turned off twice.. once wiping the stats with CWR and once, and after a cycle, with the 'battery calibrate' app (made by someone here on xda i believe)..
seems to be working okay i guess, but lets say i have 94%, i reset my phone and it comes back with only 84%.. it appears it's still reading my battery wrong by around 10%. is this normal?
It doesn't happen at every reset, looks like just the first one of the day. I guess I can charge to full, reboot, and charge to full again as a workaround.

Firstly, I apologize if this is a total annoyingly noobish post, but I've not encountered this issue before.
Currently when charging, my phone hangs at 99% for over an hour before hitting 100% charge. Additionally, when not charging, the phone will hang at 9% charge for longer than expected and rapidly deplete below 9%.
Info that may be pertain to the problem:
When I got my Rezound and the extended battery, the first thing I did was root the phone and flash Amon Ra.
I waited for the battery to fully charge, then I flashed CleanROM Kang Tapped Edition. I finished my general phone setup and app install stuff and had about 15% battery left (it was now about 8am, pulled an all-nighter.)
An hour later, I get a phone call and what amounted to literally 9 straight hours of phone talk time with only that small amount of battery left. I had to be plugged in pretty much the whole time and I think when I had under 10% battery when I finally got off the phone.
I have tried wiping battery stats after hitting full charge in Amon Ra as well as using the battery calibrator app. After I fully charged and cleared stats, I waited for the phone to deplete the battery before fully charging (I try to let it charge uninterrupted).
The issue still seems to behave exactly the same. Is it possible that I messed up the battery some by talking with low charge and plugged in for 9 hours?

Try reflashing your ROM. I had the same issue with my phone. Assuming your rooted, try zep's battery calibrater script.

I am rooted. Looking inside the Die Hard Battery Calibrator script seems to just clear battery stats, which, I believe, happens when the phone is fully charged anyways.
I have been trying the app "Battery Calibration", which also clears battery stats.
There is also the option to wipe battery stats from Scott's tweaks, as well as Amon Ra.
I guess after all the conflicting viewpoints I've heard regarding battery stats, I'm about as confused as ever. I thought that battery stats merely stores data about the power usage, and doesn't actually affect how the OS reads the battery percentage. It boggles me that the OS wouldn't just know the battery voltage, and therefore the remaining charge. Unless batteries have varying voltage (like the Rez 3.7V battery vs the 3.8V battery), this should be more accurate than whatever the hell it is doing.
I'll give the script a shot, I'm just perplexed.
Anybody know of a widget that shows just the mV? Then I can forget about these darn percentages.
*EDIT* Battery Monitor Widget can do mV, among other things.

I tried searching this in a number of places. I couldn't find what I was looking for, although it didn't help I had trouble using the right words to search for it with, but here goes.
I'm running CleanROM Reborn 1.1, I love it! Other info is also in my signature. Once I turned on the percentage number for my battery level, I really started to notice this.
The number will stay at a number for awhile sometimes, even when I use it, then other times it will jump several points within a minute. It doesn't drain consistently. Anyone have any insight or suggestions? It's more annoying than anything else. My battery life is alright.
I would've tried wiping battery stats, but I hear that doesn't really do anything.

download Battery Calibration from the Google Play Store, then charge your phone to %100. open the Battery Calibration app and calibrate it. There is also instructions inside the App if my instructions are unclear
Im going to try this but for some reason mine only go to about 96%. Never 100% lately so I am not sure if I should do it then or just leave it charged until it is 100% and hope it gets there.

Not to hijack the thread, but the phone is designed to fully charge and then discharge to 95% and then charge to 100% again, rinse, and repeat. This is to keep the battery from becoming destroyed by overcharging. Maybe that's what you are seeing, Bambino.

I've noticed this too on Ics leak roms. It sips power with screen off, then drains quickly when on sometimes and hardly at all other times. Mine just sat at 82% for the past 20 minutes, then dropped to 76% over the past five. I've heard battery calibration is bunk, but I'll try the previously mentioned app and see.
Some roms do not use a percentage because they are so inaccurate and cause the user to obsess

A little info on batteries
The important thing to remember about Lithium Ion batteries is that when you do charge them, bring them up to full charge before taking them off the charger.
They all have a circuit board in them that remembers a full charge. (If you've every taken one apart you'd see this) When you charge them this chip will restore the amount of power that has drained.
Partially charging them will screw up this function. And screw up the battery.
Deep Cycling is good for them but not all the time. Once a month is good for them.
A good rule of thumb, but not absolutely necessary is to discharge them 50% and then bring them up to a full charge. Obviously this is not always possible when playing video games or watching movies. I always try to leave it on the charger when watching movies in the cradle.
There is an app on the Market called Battery Repair. It makes an attempt to reset this chip on the battery by meticulous monitoring the charge and capacity left in the battery. Running diagnostics and setting the battery to its best state. Its the only one out there that does this.
Battery Calibration app is good if you change roms or batteries alot.
Here is what it does:
Calibration needs to be done after flashing a new ROM, but you can calibrate any time you think your battery is miscalibrated. This program does it by removing the batterystats.bin system file. The OS generates a new clean batterystats file soon, thus any fake information from the previous ROM is removed.
It's suggested, but not necessary, to let the phone fully discharge after calibration, then charged to 100% without break.
The app shows your actual battery status, and only allows you to start the calibration (i.e. removes the file) when it's fully charged, unless you force earlier calibration.
The voltage meter can be useful too. Full charge is around 4200mV.

Basically i plug phone in to charge and it charges completely normally and quickly as it used to but only charges up to about 68/70% then it basically stops charging any higher, LED still red, charging display over battery still there. Turning phone off, rebooting, unplugging and plugging charger back in all makes no difference!
Any ideas what could be the cause of this? how to resolve?
I'm on stock JB, using the official wall charger and USB cable and i made sure the battery was full when i updated to JB as well.
Try a different battery, these are getting to the point where some will start to fail, six month warranties on batteries for a reason.
Well i have a £1.99 spare battery in atm as i run the original battery completely flat today. Seriously though be surprised if battery fail after 3/4 mths - never had battery dying issues on previous phones i've had until they were a good 2/3 years old.. Always a first though LOL
Its like the battery is saying its fully charged at 70%, now its completely flat i will charge it overnight with the phone off to full (if it gets there) and see if is resets the battery callibration or something.
Try to wipe battery stats via cwm recovery/advanced.

if you are rooted than download batterycalibration and untick 100% charge and click recalibrite and leave the phone on charge and it should charge up nto 100%

This app just wipes battery stays, so you can do same by going to cwm/advanced/wipe battery stats.

It has nothing to do with wiping battery stats. I think Kangburra is right...
UPDATE.
Shamed to say that i am not rooted yet... I have been there and done all that on my old phone ZTE Blade, but i really like the added functions that TW brings and don't suffer much in the way of anoying redraws or lag etc (although i do feel that TW could be optomised alot better along with better RAM Management)
I was going to at least root to sim unlock but got a sim free unlocked phone so had no need, then other stuff i wanted to do like freeze samsung apps etc is all possible without root and i've not come across that "I" need root at the moment.. was going to for APPS2ROM but i got no need to free up space yet.
Cheers for the suggustions though - I have that battery callibration app already (from old phone days) obviously don't work though.
Anyway - I am monitoring battery atm but it seems that running the battery completely flat until it turned itself off and charging overnight with battery off has resolved this issue - maybe this reset the battery stats and recalibrated it.
Its back to normal now, charges upto 100% as normal!! Fingers crossed this was just a blip
