No it wont mess anything up.
Why not just freeze it with titanium backup?
At the very least, make a copy and move it to your sd card... just in case.
oh yeah! I forgot all about titanium backup lol thanks

Now that the GPS fix has come into play, I have been thinking of going into 2.3land again. My question is: I do not want to lose my saved game data [esp black pegasus] by upgrading to ginger. Other than TB, how can I backup and restore apps and data without screwing up the rom?

that's the problem. You can still install them on a 2.3 rom but the data saved from 2.2 isnt compatable and bugs it up...........
I think?

I've never experienced this with any of my apps. For example Angrybirds. For most /data/app it should be fine. Just becareful of anything that is system related (ie dialer, settings, etc).
yah listen to binary
All gameloft games save your data to the internal sd card, that way if you upgrade all you need to do is install the game again. However, it will tell you to download data, it is only 3 mb. But all your data will stay the same.
So dont restore as a batch, take the time to pick em off my sd individually and I wont have the same problems?

Use filter.
I went to 2.3.4 and restored batch app+data,no problem. I only use it to restore my games though. Black pegasus and a few others. What I always do is download the newest titanium off the market before any restores/backups. I have never had any problems with apps+data doing it this way

Before i install a new ROM, if I factory data reset or wipe data and cache n everything from the recovery screen, will I still have Titanium Backup so i can restore my apps?
Sent from my SGH-I997 using XDA App
Nope, but if you bought it from the market you can redownload it without having to pay again. Just keep in mind doing a full wipe can wipe your backup folder too. Best to sync it to dropbox through titanium backup or back it up to a pc or external sdcard.

Is that the right thing to do if your going from 1 rom to another? I just don't want old files and data taking up memory/space
Sent from my SGH-I997 using XDA App
Yes its the right thing to do its what everyone that uses it does

cool thanks, I moved the backup folder to my external sd, that fixes that right? Now i can just wipe everything rite? Btw after I'm done and restoring in TiBu can i goto batch, restore all apps + system data? Or will the system data mess with the custom rom?

As long as you don't wipe external card you'll be ok. I'd remove it from the card just to be sure. Don't want to risk losing everything.
Usually you won't restore system data. The only time you'd do that is if you're reflashing the exact same rom. You'll only want to batch restore all apps and data.
Should be all good to go.

Ya I know but all the good stuff is in the pro Version though. Frost time that am planning to use one have gotten addicted to flashing an trying new roms just hate reinstalling all my important apps. Such a pain.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
The important stuff is free in titanium, but the pro version adds enough goodies to be worth it.

Go backup is quite the beast. I would still use tibu for uninstalling system apps but go backup does everything tjbu does in a cleaner way
