ok I just read about the release about the SPB Shell UI and its on the market but I don't see it on the market on my Eris. Its says that it works on 2.1 but I don't understand why its not reading on my market.
Maybe its not ment to be run on the Eris is this correct?

I think it requires more hardware. Based on the SPB web site, it requires "OpenGL ES 2.0 compatible GPU" - and I think that leaves the Eris out.

I did a search and found no thread on this.
I am looking for a Hermes portable Firefox browser. I miss the tab function when browsing with the standard IE. Any ideas.
Hi there!
As far as I know, there is no mobile Firefox browser. However, for tabbed browsing you could try SPB Pocket Plus with IE. There is also a mobile version of Opera, which I enjoy very much: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=401643

Mini Mozilla
Yes there is a mobile firefox for WM devices
It is Here: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/minimo/
I used it a few times, and I am going to install it again tonight as it has google maps built in as well

That project is old and discontinued. Check out Mozilla's latest efforts here:

regarding MiniMo - agreed... you'll hate it... I also tried BlueFish from Micro$oft - even suckier. Looking forward to trying skyfire... Unfortunately, for the moment, Opera is your best option...
I hated it.
I didn't see you post, so I went ahead and installed it.
Its slooooow, hangs, bad graphics (splashed all over).
I will remove it today.

This seems like a work in progress, maybe by August there will be something usable.
Thanks
I have both Opera Mini and Mobile versions currently installed on my Hermes. I personally find Mini to be significantly quicker (loading/page rendering, etc).
Sorry...
Yeah, I installed it again... Yeah it sucks. Well, there is always something else on the horizon for us to try.
This minimo guy refuses to be removed any heads up on that.

Yet it works if you click OK ignore all of those errors. It is just incredibly annoying to do when typing Twitter or Brightkite updates. Alternatively, install ANY of the pre-official beta releases of Opera and you will be worlds ahead of any other browser on windows mobile, including Opera Mini.
I'm sure you can find threads on this forum.
I've been meaning to go digging on all the sites to find the latest and greatest opera version without the memory errors. I've been running both on my phone. The actual beta version allows you to throw the page in the direction you want to scroll a bit easier then the pre-release that I am running. I wish you could just turn off that error. The browser works seemlessly other than having to click OK, as far as I can tell. Someone needs to go in and change the je to a jg or something in the binary to disable that dialog.
Hey there guys,
Just looking for some information.
Currently im attempting to play a game from the market "Pocket Legends".
Open GL ES 1.1 is a requirement for this game, which is not covered by the stock Three UK android 2.1 ROM. Does anyone know if any HTC Hero ROMs include Open GL ES 1.1, or if the Hero just doesnt support Open GL ES 1.1?
Im currently running FroydVillain 1.7.2
Cronos gingerbread supports 1.1 OpenGL.
I don't know if any other rom do this...
Here you go, a zip update to 1.1! Although pulser has said that it will also be included in the next patch to 1.7.2.
http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/s...g-OpenGL-ES-1.1!&p=36943&viewfull=1#post36943
But Pocket Legends still doesn't work after installing OpenGL ES 1.1, for no one
I can confirm that after installing Open GL ES 1.1 Pocket Legends doesn't work.
Anyone else got an other ideas?
Regards.
Well we are not sure that Open GL ES 1.1 really works as it should. Some people experienced change, but i myself have not.
The reason I started the OpenGL thread at villainrom (Gerben) was because I have been searching for ways to launch pocket legends. Spacetimestudios considers making the game available for OpenGL ES 1.0, so then it should work.
But for the time being, I don't know anyone (And yes I have searched far and wide) who has the game working on their Hero

no, there is one way to make it works:
open file /system/lib/egl/egl.cfg and edit last 2 strings:
0 1 android
0 0 fimg
then you must write it with the same rights.
Don't reboot phone - it would not been started.
After playing you must return all back.

cool....
ok so we need a prefs toggle for this purpose I think. if I get time I'll develop one (maybe similar to my" media volume toggle" app) but any app devs could put one together for rooted phones I'd think.
Cheers,
Don
Thanks for the advice guys. Hopefully we can get something sorted. If not I guess Ike just get an upgrade on my contract haha

What's it run like on hero??? Playable at all?

If you set egl.cfg so it reads
0 0 qcom
0 1 android
then pocket legends runs and you can leave it as there is no problem rebooting handset.
Haven't noticed any loss in performance doing this. Pocket legends runs fine although there are some graphical glitches, similar to the old version of Angry Birds.

alternative? as it one with a purple tie-died icon?
;-)
there's only one version of 1.1 I think. either flash it or copy the lib over manually. but there's more to it - you need to edit build.prop and the jury's out as to whether we're doing that correctly yet for this graphics library. Also there's a rumor that the library needs special permissions and related settings to run correctly in all situations.

quoting myself here because I think it's funny that I may actually be the one starting the rumor LoL
So by alternative to flashables, I did mean manual install. I've subsequently installed manually, it noe seems to try, but fall over. I've submitted my crash logs too the devs

Hello,
My friend is going to T in the Park (a music festival) I found an app on the market for the event, line up, schedules and the like by searching "titp".
I got him to search for it on his HTC Hero (which is still running 2.1 as he is a wuss and refuses to root it) and the app is not there. I tried changing security settings and allowing unknown sources but still nada.
Is it not showing up because it is incompatible with his Android version or am I forgetting something?

Yes, it's incompatible either with his Android version or his screen resolution.
Try sending him the apk!
Thanks.
I will do that. He probably wont install that way, as I said he is a total wuss.

(Kidding, no offence! )
Formbee,
I developed the app using Corona SDK and it'll therefore only work on ARMv7 phones running 2.2 or higher. An annoying limitation that I wasn't aware of until I was halfway through developing it. Android Market only displays apps that meet the conditions in the manifest for the app...so in this case 2.2 and up, and ARMv7.

First: Welcome on this Forum!
This would be hard, it requires Android >3.0 so normally we cant get t..
But it would be possible to hack into the app and disable the Android Version check or set the check down to FroYo
But this is very hard... I couldnt do it
PS Wrong Forum. ("Apps and Themes")

This is not entirely true..
You see, just disabling the version check won't do it.
Since a lot of parts the app will be made specifically for 3.0, there might be used API's Froyo doesn't have.
I mean, setting the version check down to Froyo is quite simple, all you have to do is change one or two lines in the android manifest file (where it says minimal SDK if I'm right).
But that alone just wouldn't do it, it will only (if you're lucky) get you to install the app.
Maybe I'll look into it later, sounds interesting.
Dympy.
