WOW!!!..I got this just now..OhhhhJEEZUZ!!..Best launcher (PERIOD)
Runs ly smooth. Looks amazing (Much better than the MotoBlur look). Widgets work great too. at $15.95 i must say worth it!!..Besides compared to the WinMo $30 not too bad. So what are your thoughts of this launcher??

Looks cool, but for $15, no thanx I'll stick with launcher pro plus!
have u tried it?
Really??..Force Closes?..Error Messages?..Not Downloading?..Mine downloaded, installed and running flawlessly. Not really sure what effect this launcher has on the battery just yet..will find out though.

Never thought I would be siding with a Launcher-Pro-ist... but agreed, $15? I'll stick to ADWLauncher Ex XD

A liiiiiiiitle bit =) but not enough to condone spending $15
~_~ Atrix
I just cant see it spending 15 for a laucher maybe if it completely removed all traces of blur nah still cant see it the devs of that need to be beatdown
Definitely an awesome looking launcher, but I'm not sure I'll be convinced it's worth the price tag. I could see spending $10 as an upper limit. It would probably help out a lot if they had a trial version or something so that people can get a feel for the experience.
The only problem I see with it is that the the screens dont seem as friendly to customization. I feel like a lot of the commonly used things like minimalistic text might end up feeling out of place. I'm sure it works like most other launchers in that regard, but the design seems to encourage organization... not sure if that's clear, but it seems like the best way to describe the feeling I get from it.

Hi!
Please describe the problem (crash or just black screen) and specify your device model.
very long time to load. So this is the biggest problem that I will not use it.
Just picked this up and wow. I must say I'm impressed. Runs great on cm7 on my evolution. Definitely a breath of fresh air from the other launchers I've tried. I think I'm officially switching from launcher pro.
Bug found, after change language in settings, SPB gives black screen, you can only reboot to get it work again
Anyway, I don't think this app worth $15
Launcher pro and ADW EX are like seagram's vodka ($3) you get what you paid for.
SPB shell is like Grey Goose. Worth the money and I don't wanna go back to the cheap stuff;-)
Meh... I had SPB Mobile Shell 3 on my old HTC Touch Pro and it was definitely worth the $30 that I paid for it then... because the WinMo 6.5 homescreen and HTC TouchFlo 3D sucked. These days, we have flashy launchers like ADB and LauncherPro and even the stock Android launcher that would blow away the UI of any WM 6.5 homescreen.
I'll wait til they fix the bugs and drop the price a bit. $15 might sound great, but knowing SPB, they'll come out with SBP Shell 3D v2.0 next year and charge an additional $15 for the upgrade.
I had that, I uninstalled it. It looked overly fancy and just annoyed the heck out of me.
so it's confirmed that this thing works on the atrix?
I had the leaked beta on my n1 so I thought I'd peep the full release. I dl it on my rooted atrix everything goes fine... the first thing that throws me off is when I hit home and it doesn't prompt me for default options. So I overlook that and manually uninstall adw ex so that spb is my only launcher (big mistake) so after that I get prompted with a msg saying that spb mobile couldn't be linked to the market and that I should uninstall and download again from the market... so I home key and open market just to see everything fine, and a update from cache cleaner ng .. so I click install and the market freezes and then fcs bringing me back to spb mobile where I swipe around and check out its ui. Open a few widgets later and my phone turns off... no restart just off. So I power it back on and it gets stuck at the loading screen. I could touch everything, i could feel ui vibrations... volume rocker made sound. After three battery pulls i was stuck in a half brick. Anyways how i fixed it was i had double tap home to phone enabled and i double tapped that and it just popped up the call screen and i somehow back buttoned and home buttoned my way back to to market where i promptly uninstalled and got my adw ex back on. I even made it in the 15 minute window!! Winning

That really puzzles me why MS and or HTC already have made a GUI based on flash or similar? It's a good standard.
This could actually be really promising.

but fiddy bucks when it will be eventually made for free by someone else?
patience is a virtue
Spb has to step its game up! Don't get me wrong it (mobile shell) is a good app. But, you got touchflo (buttonflo in my case), all of the iPhone clones and this app. The winmob launcher market is getting crowded and that is good for us.
The only thing that's nice on the iPhone is the size of it's screen and it's multi-touch screen. IMO the interface is stupid. It's more for the average simple minded person where everything is in big and handicap accessible which in turn is contrasted by the annoying slide to unlock which is a pain in the ass to use.

This was a great article.
I liked your analogies used in the article. I think towards the end you focused less on grammar and more on finishing the article though. The beginning seemed much more paced and detailed.
Great article though.. thanks.
now this looks very very interestin!
Well color me interested. Yep, signed up for the beta like everyone else. This is exactly what the WM platform needs I think to get some broader adoption. As with any good development this looks to make use of what's already out there that works well along with things that people feel are bad or missing from current offerings. Can't wait to see it in action.
This is going to improve and completely change our beloved phoneys..
How about making themes for the cooked roms.. A crazy black and moving flash theme..or how about an Elfie Theme with little elfs running around.
Now - GUI guys, you are getting challenged by this new feature of our world.
This is nice, but I don't get it...
Why reduce the today screen to a single button list? I really enjoy being able to precisely customise what is on my today screen, and being able to have any infos I need/want at a glance.
Something more hybrid could in my opinion be better.

I agree, all this iphone style hype and all you end up with is a less usable phone. Apple have everyone fooled, people really need to slow down and have a look at what is really happening.
I would love to see apple similar interface WITH the tabs at the bottom, as "primary apps" each linked to a full screen (one of them could be the "today" tab that would display the today screen if tapped) where you could add or delete and even modify the icons for any programs you wanted on any screen grouping all the applications requiring internet on one screen for example.... seems like a simple idea but haven't seen anything like it... or am I wrong?
this looks quite promising.. if only there were some video shots of it working..
I can only imagine this will be slow.. if its flash its sure to be..
Also.. why have another app running all the time.. the only way for this to really really be useful is for someone to totally modify a ROM to have this as the default shell (which I imagine would be a lot of work) which would then be quite useful.
The other thing is that the Today screen is one of windows mobiles best features over symbian or the iphone as far as im concerned.. its a brilliant interface for presenting a lot of info neatly..
This does look nice.. but like all the other app launchers i bet i'd give up after a few days and go back to the tried and tested today screen.
It looks like it might be good.
PLEASE DONT ASK ME TO POST .APK....IT WILL BE CONSIDERED WAREZ
so ive been waiting for a while to get my hands on this and i finally did. just wanted to share with everyone that it does work on our device. first installation is really buggy, but upon reboot, it seems to be much smoother. does slow down other home replacements while its running though.
the interface is nice, as to be expected. ive only been using it for about ten minutes. it lacks a lot of features that the popular launchers do. my biggest complaint is that there is no way to delete a screen as is, the screen will only dlete once youve manually removed all shortcuts/widgets from it. this proves really annoying because when you first load the app it loads alllllll your apps onto screens. so mine loaded 13+ screens full of icons the first time. BUT THERES NO LAUNCHER DRAWER!!! so i have to figure how to have quick access to all my apps without having 20 damn screens
ill update this OP as i experiment more, and more screenshots when i find cool things. possibly a video (shootme videos come out really laggy)

sorry big guy, but no other homereplacement ive used has ever lagged. period. my phone is always butter.
if you are referring to the number of screens that it creates. well obviously its because of how many apps i have. but it shouldnt be that way. it should be like any other launcher, with an app drawer. this isnt the iphone.

I have the beta as well, had to sign a contract not to share the .apk, screens, or even details of the app. These guy's are serious about this shell, I'm in another beta of theirs that I didn't even sign up for, and there wasn't nearly as much effort to keep that one as confidential. Just don't want your buddy gettin in trouble. I have yet to submit a review with suggestions, but I plan on doing that soon. This launcher has a lot of potential, but like you said it's very lacking in a lot of areas. It's especially a pain if you have a lot of apps. Just keep in mind, it is an early beta. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I'd be happy to include them in my review.

this is because of sense 3.0 and its carousel feature. The new update to my beach hd says that it has a new setting that scrolls back and forth while sitting on the home screen, im guessing they did this for sense 3.0 users!

Once you put a bunch of app icons and widgets on the screen, this 3D business makes the scrolling even choppier than 2.2 roms on evo 4g (with the same number of home screen items).

Try something like launcher pro. Maybe you are just used to choppy scrolling.
how do you change live wallpaper settings? i know some have color options and stuff
Canopy Live Wallpaper is by far my favorite. It's very simple, vector-style with lots of customization for performance and density. Very classy, and doesn't feel so "busy" that it distracts my eye from the content on the screen. Love it!

Since it IS 17 bucks, and i don't want my money going to waste like it did with SPB shell which was a bunch of bs... I'm going to pirate it, test it, if its buggy uninstalled, if its as how the video shows it to be, then hell yeah buying it however i can. now... time to find a pirating website haha
Alright, just pirated the app ( i will not share where I got it) I'll test it out for a day or two and let you guys know how its doing.
and for people who are having trouble with the compatibility,
try setting your LCD density to 220 im at that and its compatible on the market for me.
OR
PM the dev saying its not working, and possibly you can directly pay him and he can give you the apk? or even fix the problem if so many people are havin git.
First impressions: It's smooth, i won't lie there, it does what its been saying so far.
I've also noticed that all the app icons are LOW RES.
Changing the LCD density to 220 didn't work for me, still not compatible on the Market.

PM the dev saying its not working, and possibly you can directly pay him and he can give you the apk? or even fix the problem if so many people are havin git.
First impressions: It's smooth, i won't lie there, it does what its been saying so far.
I've also noticed that all the app icons are LOW RES.

I'm calling bull**** lol because the first thing I did was buy the app, back it up with titanium back up, then refund it only to find out it has a license check. So I said **** it and bought it.
Use lucky patched. Its fast but feels like there's 90 steps to make a phone call. Its really fast and visually appealing but I can use launcher pro with my eyes closed so ill stick with that...and its free hehe

Did anybody else make the switch to it? For 15 dollars, it's not a bad idea.

I switched. I can dig it.

Yeah. I've been playing with it. So far, so good. I'm gonna reinstall it when I get a touch screen. It feels like it's more geared towards it.

Pirates are bad! But I don't know which one you're referring too.

I'm just glad most of the run commands are still there.

Runnin the pro with media center. Its ok. Nothin special. It was cool for 10 minutes after i installed it.
You either love it or hate it.
I'm using it now, and at first when the developer preview came out, I absolutely hated it.
The more and more that I use it, I started liking it.
I've been using it since it came out officially, and it's pretty good.
As long as your laptop/computer manufacturer puts out the proper drivers for Windows 8, it's great.
Acer released the trackpad driver for W8 for my laptop and I love the quick shortcuts. (Swipe from left to change Apps, Swipe from top to show quick options, swipe from right to get sidebar.)
It's pretty nice, although, I wish I had a touchscreen.
Sorry for the really long post, but if you have questions about it, I'm willing to answer them. Been using it for a long time..
I tried it, hated it. Microsoft needs to stop trying to shove a touchscreen OS onto my desktop.
It's a great tablet interface but very very terrible for a mouse and keyboard.
If Microsoft would have just added an option to disable metro they would have avoided a lot of the negative press and I would be all over it.

It could be worse.

I paid the money for it. It's just Windows 7 with a better task manager and file transfer dialogs. No complaints here.
I still prefer linux. I just have to have a Windows box for work related stuff. I don't understand everyone's complaints about the new start menu. I hardly use it.
I use it at work. Gets annoying at times where some things are hidden a little more than before, otherwise it is smooth and looks very nice even on an old Dell tower.

I switched. Took a lil getting used to, and I'm still running into glitches, but I love the interface.
Having issues with Kaspersky Pure, keeps force closing.
One thing I've been wondering... WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO UPDATE THE STOCK SCREENSAVERS? Lol.

Who uses screensavers anymore? Monitors turn off now and save more power that way.
But you're right. They are looking tired. Flying Windows ftw.
I go from my Pad to my laptop and keep hitting the screen, lol
New touchscreen would be nice.
But I'm tired of buying new expensive software every time a new OS came out. Like MS Office Pro 2010(mainly now only for Word and Outlook) and Quick Books Pro 2010, MS Expressions, Photoshop CS, etc. Almost two large not $15.
I'm not comfortable with backwards compatibility issues. And the potential of any learning curve into a new OS.
I've been using it for a while on ma laptop, since it was available on MSDN. The biggest flood is lack of Start menu. Start8 from startdock was pretty handy. One irritating thing, Iron browser could be set as default browser, at least not in 100%, but maybe that's problem of browser it self. Didn't try with other browsers. I found it more irritating than helpful.
Eventually I've rollback to Windows 7, I had some software comparability issues that couldn't be workaround.

Yep I'm actually thinking of going back... you would think that when they release the newest version they should have most of the kinks ironed out, but that's just not so. I have a lot of programs force closing left & right, and repeatedly do so at completely random times. Also got a couple BSODs the other day. But I really like the new interface so is a tough decision. I use a 120 gig SSD as my boot drive, so running 2 operating systems side by side is out of the question...

Everyone is pissed off about the lack of start menu but in my opinion if you are using W8 on a desktop and you don't have a tochscreen monitor you will not enjoy the W8...just saying
I purchased a Acer tablet W500 on Walmart.com for $350 came with Windows 7 I upgraded to Windows 8 for $14.99 I could not be happier. Windows 8 is amazing. Definitely built for touch screen it's like having an iPad and a full PC all in one for a lot cheaper in price! I recommend installing Windows 8 clean install with a USB flash drive installs in less than 10 minutes
