FC with Superclean 2.9.2 and PBJ Time Kernel - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Question I'm wondering why when I flash over my Superclean 2.9.2 with PBJ Time Voodoo, when it's running it's perfect then after I restart or something I get a framework error next time I turn it on and a bunch of my other apps force close right away. I wiped the Dalvik Cache. So what could the culprit be?

I havent tried it, but im trying to figure out if that kernel is for that rom. IDT it is.

I'm using SC2.9.2 and the imnuts 0330 50uv voodoo kernel just fine. No problems at all.

[Q] EB01/EB16 - how do you know?

Hey, a question...
I flashed the 2.8v, which I thought included the EB16 kernal, but the phone still says EB01 on the "About phone" thingie in Settings. Now, I just flashed the EB16 voodoo zip file on the first page of Adrynl's thread...it still says EB01.
I'm running fine, GREAT, really, but justr wondering where to look so I know I have the EB16 running, and if I am still on EB01, then....why?
Thanks guys, and thanks Adrynl for the fantastic work.
Jeff
You are on EB16 unless you flashed the EB01 kernal after installing SC2.8v.
The only way to check which kernel you are on is by running a command.
Check out post 2178 in the superclean thread (page 218).

not having any problem so i am not complaining, just curious.

Jan 2... that would be closer to DL30. Did you come from a DL30 version of Super Clean?
Just to make it confusing for you all:
There are currently 6 kernels floating around. EB01 voodoo and non-voodoo, EB16 voodoo and non-voodoo (included with SC2.8), and another set of EB16 voodoo and non-voodoo kernels that were an attempt to fix all the conversion problems (but at the same time introduced a BT bug).
Depending on which kernel you have, you might be getting a different result for the date. It depends on which files they used for that kernel.
If you find that you aren't on the kernel you thought you were, but you are happy with its performance, you might want to think about just sticking with the kernel you have since there isn't a huge difference between them. Everything will get sorted out soon enough.

[Q] Apps keep forceclosing on superclean 2.8v

For some reason my apps keep forceclosing on superclean 2.8 and also which launcher does this come with it-is it the launcher 2.1 cuz there's a patch for stock launcher 2.2 I think?
EDIT: Also when I click on the vzw 3g mobile hotspot it gives me a warning that I have to enable it by Verizon bit than it hives me options of enabling it... can we enable it mow cuz of the dummy tether module??? :/ Quote confusing...
What were you running before 2.8? Voodoo or nv?
Did you wipe cache or data or davlick cache?
If we don't know where you were, can't help you get to where you want to go.

Yeah sorry. I was running stock 2.1 ea8 update than odined to Dl01 back to stock-flashed superclean 2.6v and converted to voodoo trying to than flash 2.7 which was unsuccessful. Than 2.8 came out so odined back to dl01 and flashed superclean 2.8 which didn't work so had to re-odin and flash everything about 5 times but it never converted to voodoo. So started fresh by odining back to stock Dl0-wiping data, factory reset, cache, and dalvik cache-than flashed superclean 2.6v-making sure to wipe everything again before flashing, converted to voodoo successfully so than flashed superclean 2.8 wiping everything again. Everything worked just some apps would forceclose, like words with friends, sometimes browser and wells Fargo app.
And is it just me or does the vibrate feature seem different... like it vibrates differently? :/.
Stock than voodoo 2.6 and than voodoo 2.8.
And yes I wiped everything-i even at one point tried wiping dbdata, boot, system, ddata, ext data... than mounted everything-system, dbdata, data, and one other thing. which made me get stuck at aamsung logo when trying to boot.
Start with a Superclean version that doesnt have the EB16 kernel, think 2.4 was the last to use the EB01 kernel. Flash it, boot up and then flash 2.8

Oh is the forceclosing not normal? And you saying to revert back to Odin stock-wipe everything again-than flash superclean 2.4 then 2.8?
Btw you know anything bout the vzw 3g mobile app? Cam we use it or do we still have to pay and sign up from Verizon? Cuz tjats the first time that option popped up.. :-/
The conversion process in teh EB16 kernels are borked I believe. So yes, Odin then flash 2.4 then 2.8. The dummy module just doesnt report tethering, its not a hack for the stock app. You have to use wifi tether in the market or the like.

Ah so apps forceclosing are not normal... damn. I've already odined so many times... oh well. Really? That's weird than cuz before on 2.1 when it gave you the warning it just gave you the warning but this time on 2.2 after the warning it asks if you want to turn it on, turn it off, or close the app... so if I put turn it on would it automatically sign me up for the tethering option in vzw or would it just give me an error message since I'm not signed up for it on vzw? :/. And what quadrant scores are considered normal for voodoo cuz I've heard of scores ranging from 1400-1800 but I only got 1350 or something like that-ranked underneath nexus one with 2.2.
Thanks by the way.
EDIT: Btw do I have to disable voodoo first before odining back to Dl01 or just Odin it back since Dl01 Odin deletes everything including voodoo? :/

You dont need to disable voodoo when you odin full package.
Ok thanks. But about the vzw 3g app what would happen if I click to turn it on?

[Q] Issues with SC2.9.2 and Ultimate Honeycomb v3.1.1

Hi,
I was trying to flash a Ultimate Honeycomb v3.1.1 theme on my VZN Fascinate using CWM, but after flashing and rebooting, it just sits there on the booting screen (flashing honeycomb) while the phone vibrates occasionally. Can someone tell me how to fix this or why it's happening? I didn't have problem flashing gingerbread theme by nitsuj17.
I have SC2.9.2 voodoo/EB01
many thanks,

Download might have been corrupted or you flashed SC and then flashed the theme without rebooting in between.
Thanks jonesya13!
I'm pretty sure I rebooted in between, but I will try to re-download the file and then flash the theme again as you suggested.
This happened to me on both the 3.1 & 3.1.2 with superclean 2.9.2. I booted fully into superclean as well before flashing the theme after a cache/dalvik wipe. Battery pull worked both times. Rebooted normally after that.
Thanks garywojdan81!
I tried to flash with a newer ultimate honeycomb (3.1.2), it flashed without a hitch but I found out that menu & home button didn't work. So I went back to SC2.9.2... I will try battery pull & wiping cache/dalvik then reflash the 3.1.2 theme.

I had the menu and home button problem as well, ended up flashing, I think the EC10 kernal, and it fixed that problem for me.
Thanks jonesya13 and garywojdan81!
I tried reflashing the theme after wiping cache/dalvik - that did the trick!
I have not tried the EC10 kernel yet. So far, I'm satisfied with EB01, so I'll try sticking with it until it causes problems.

Just wipe cache/dalvik

xHoLyx,
What might be some advantages of jt's EC10 over regular EB01, in your opinion? I'm not too familiar with kernel replacement, so reading relevant posts might take some time. thx!
I tried 2.2 out a few weeks ago and decided I couldn't live without Voodoo Sound and BLN so I decided to wait it out. Obviously we have these enhancements available for Froyo now, so I made the jump to JT's initial EC10 release.
Everything worked fine, I just didn't feel that "snappiness" I had before. I thought maybe it had something to do with being undervolted (even though only slightly.) I saw that there were some problems with imnuts initial kernals he posted and waited to flash the updated (fixed) link for 0328_imnuts_sv_voodoo.zip. I flashed last night, booted up, and played around for a little bit and everything was working great. I had it plugged in to charge overnight. That brings me to my issue...
I woke up this morning, reached over to turn my phone on and I got NOTHING. No boot, samsung, lights, nada...I thought "****, I really bricked my phone now." I tried booting into recovery using the 3-button combo, plugging it in my computer to try download mode, plugging my charger in different outlets,etc...The phone seemed like there was no sign of life. I was ready to head to Verizon before work then decided to plug in my car charger for ****s and giggles and sure enough...IT WORKED! It started charging and I turned the phone on. Now I am at work and the phone seems to be working just fine...I even have the usb plugged in my computer and it is charging now (The same one that didn't work this morning.) This has never happened to me before and it was pretty scary. I have had to ODIN before, but I was worried that wasn't even an option. Thanks god everything SEEMS to be working fine right now, though that made me a little concerned.
Do anyone have ANY idea what might have happened!? Thanks in advance.
EDIT: After a couple hours, I saw my battery start to wig out. It went from being at like 34% to flashing the "low battery" warning. It then turned off and did the exact same thing. I had to go out to use my car charger to get into recovery. I wiped cache/dalvik cach, and re-installed SC. Not sure if it's kernal/ROM/Theme with 3rd party battery supprt...

Issues with EC10

I'm currently running EB01 with stoc EC10 with no problems. I want to either run EC10 undervolt or the new standard volt over clocKed. This issue is the only way i can flash them is with SGS Kernel flasher. CWM (Red) will not let me flash the new Kernels. After I install any new Kernel with SGS it runns fine and then freezes the device.
How do i relsolve?
I would suggest stepping back and figuring out why cwm isn't working. Do you have the new CWM that JT released(works with all kernels and voodoo)- linked here I think is the newest one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948722 ?
If not that may be your issue. If you do then that's odd because I have it and don't have the problem with flashing EC10 kernels.
Your not the first. I was fine on adrynlynns kernal then I went to JTs kernal and thats what happened. Went back to adrynlynns kernal and im fine again.
Stock EC10 = adryn's or jt's from source?
Also, do you have voodoo enabled? Are you flashing voodoo or nonvoodoo kernels?
BUt yeah, I think the first step would be to figure out why your CWM is messed up.
If all fails maybe follow one of the tutorials and Odin/Heimdall back to the basics. And go step by step from there.
From EB01 with SC 2.9.2 to EC10
I've checked around and can't seem to find why I'm not able to flash the EC10 kernel. As stated in the title, I'm currently running EB10 with Superclean 2.9.2.
When I boot into recovery, install from SD Card, and select the EC10 ROM from my SD Card (this one from JT - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010102), it appears to install, says complete, but after rebooting I still show EB10.
Any help greatly appreciated!
You might actually be running the kernel
go into terminal (or download one from market)
type:
su
{Press enter}
cat /proc/version
{press Enter}
You will see:
Linux Version 2.6.32.9 (kernel author@virtualbox) (gcc version 4.4.1 (yada yada yada) COMPILE DATE
If that compile date is the date the the author released the kernel you are running it. If not....sorry but someone else is going to have to help because I'm sleepy and going to bed =)

You are correct Sir! Thanks for your help! I guess I'll ignore the reading then.
What's getting me lately is battery life. I've been through the fully drain, fully charge stuff and still seem to lose about 40-50% overnight while the phone sits idle for 7-8 hours. Yes, it's a little off topic, but it seems like 10 or 15% loss overnight would be normal, correct?

Gps Problems?

Ok so im running Sc 2.9.1 with Jt's 4/11 TW voodoo kernel and Ive used the EC01 radio and Now im back on DL09 and my gps is just not locking at all. Anyone know what could be causing this?
It also didnt lock on EC01 either
