Has anyone figured out a way to get quick reply or quick compose functionality with Google Voice? SMS Popup has this feature, but doesn't support GV SMS...
Or, is there a way to reply directly from the Android notification tray?
I have been endlessly searching for a solution, and I realized that you guys might know how to achieve this.
Thanks.
Anyone know a way to do this?
Maybe using an app like GO SMS?
Is it possible to do this at all?
When I emailed ChompSms they said it was on their to do list but no ETA.

I dont see that coming. As was mentioned before GO SMS has that if you were using it for your primary number. I personally don't see any dev jumping on that for GV anytime soon since I see more people using GV as their "tiger woods" number these days lol. I was happy finally after the bugs were fixed and there actually was an indication in the notification shelf that I had a GV text.
I feel like there's gotta be a way to do this with Tasker - I'm still searching around, but if anyone has any ideas...

Yeah, I was hoping for something like this that would allow GV functionality....
Would this help?

Not really, but man, is that thread a gold mine
The good news is, I got a tasker popup working for sms.. but I'm sure there's a much better way to do it. I'll post here as soon as I figure out.

That's good news. Does the popup include quick reply functionality?
If so, is the quick reply functionality available in the lockscreen?
Nah, no quick reply, and honestly, would have no idea how to do that. This basically pulls the text from the notification bar and displays it in a pop up- kinda ghetto style
But maybe there's a way to make it so, when u click on the popup, it jumps to the message in the app... I'll try that.
If someone made an app to do this using purely google voice and not traditional sms, I would pay at least $5 without a second thought. When I had an iphone, there was a jailbroken app that would let me hold a volume button and then show a quick compose pop up for regular sms.

Yeah, a GV app with quick reply would be really awesome.
I have seen the iPhone app you're referring to, and that's pretty much exactly what I think would be perfect...
just a little 3 months later bump (!) .. can't believe this is still an issue
I'll give it a bump too - would love GV popups.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Mayne if someone can take the coding from text plus because the text plus app has quick reply so maybe someome can integreate it into google voice app or make another app using it just a suggestion really want the quick rply because i use GV as my primary textong cuz i dont have and dont want texting through carrier
Does text plus work for gv notifications, even without quick reply?
. . NS4G . . CM7 . .
bump...and a callback feature would be epic
lol. I wish this wasn't still an issue. Any updates?
hey guys... hold on to your socks. I found an app that allows for Google Voice SMS popup notifications:

I noticed this too, I think it's just something you gotta deal with. I was surprised there's no checkbox or anything to display messages, i've already gotten used to it as they have little envelopes and I just recognize it now.
Don't know if this makes a difference, but I don't have them showing up on my call log anymore, even with all logs checked. Maybe because I'm using handcent and hide my messaging app with launcherpro. I am running anderdroid jk2 2.2. Try that out and see if it works for you.

sorry from the bumb but does anyone have a solution to this?

Yeah this is annoying the hell out of me too, what part of CALL log doesn't android get lol
Only thing I know is to hit menu when in call logs and then veiw by and select something like missed call it will not show text messages then

I would love to have repeating alerts for missed calls, texts, and calendar events. I found a reference to having Tasker do this but before I go this route I wanted to see what other apps people are using for this function?
Agreed. I should probably take the time to figure out how to do this with tasker, but if there is a simpler solution it would be nice.

Try "NoLed" it has lots of options and is very easy to setup.

Mangled my battery. I'm actually looking for repeating audio notifications.

Missed Call Reminder looks like it may do the trick. Going to try it out...
Anyone use this app yet?
Try Missed Message Flasher Free, in the Android Market. I been using it forever and I love it.

Easy reminder does texts and missed calls. Calendar alerts I am not sure of.

noled has the option to have audio only reminder notifications
GO SMS has settings for this.
i found an app called Flashlight Alerts (search on xda) but it flashes your camera flash when you receive a text or phone call (sadly theres no way to have it repeat a flash every few min to remind you though, yet)
I'm not even sure if it's possible, but I'd like something like that. I know GoSMS has pop-up notifications, but they're too damn intrusive.
I just want to be able to pull down the notifications tray, tap “reply,” and have a window pop-up.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I would recommend slide messaging .
I would love if we could get this. This is one of the only requests I have that would make stuff better than we already have it. I have an aosp messaging app that someone posted a while back but it is kind of buggy sometimes and it lacks some features that newer ones have.

Thanks for the suggestion. It doesn't appear to give me the quick reply options in the notification tray, though. :\

Glowfly does, though! And quite well, too! Best 99¢ ever spent.

I bought slide messaging because of this thread and I can assure you the notification quick reply is almost identical to the one in 4.2...

Meh. It didn't work for me. Plus, it's über buggy. Glowfly let's you use any messenger. It just affects the notification drawer. Plus, its popup windows are better, in my opinion.
I always have problems with these third party sms apps, the notifications are always messed up, lightflow doesn't work right, I get the same messages twice a lot, and the list can go on.
.......I just want an AOSP rom so I can be done with these stupid problems, sense is going to be the death of HTC.
For sure, dude. I need me some Paranoid Android lovin' up in heeyah. Tablet apps in 1080p? Yes, please.
If you are wondering (like I was) why you are getting quote notifications in the private messaging counts and via email read this XDA wiki post.
There are similar notifications by default when someone "mentions" you as "@username" in a post.
Both of these features can be configured from this page.

Yeah I turned that crap off!
My inbox was getting spammed left and right!
I think XDA is a bit confused.........this is not twitter so there's no need for mentions :good:
Is there a way to get notifications for PMs on the app?
Sometimes I don't realize I have one until a week later when I get bored and actually look in there.

I know in tapatalk there's notifications set by default for that kind of stuff BUT I haven't used the XDA app in a long time so I'm not really sure.
I would assume that there's an option for that some where in settings since the XDA app is just a personalized version of the tapatalk app BUT I could be wrong.....

Maybe I have to get on that weird computer thing?
I was just wondering I enjoy the functionality of a third party S-View cover that I purchase and thought if anyone has been able to make some sort of tweaking to the S-View feature. For example, the S-View missed text message notification makes you open the samsung messages app when my default is Chomp Sms. I was thinking maybe there is a way to change the sms app to whichever one a user wants or also change the default phone app for an app such as dial one. I've looked around everywhere and seeing that this is an awesome phone and this forum has awesome developers and people maybe making this suggestion will be helpful for some.

I think that would be fixed in android 4.4 since you can choose a default SMS app in KitKat.
