[REQUESTED APP/MOD] AOSP messaging with “Quick Reply” notification option. - HTC Droid DNA

I'm not even sure if it's possible, but I'd like something like that. I know GoSMS has pop-up notifications, but they're too damn intrusive.
I just want to be able to pull down the notifications tray, tap “reply,” and have a window pop-up.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I would recommend slide messaging .

I would love if we could get this. This is one of the only requests I have that would make stuff better than we already have it. I have an aosp messaging app that someone posted a while back but it is kind of buggy sometimes and it lacks some features that newer ones have.

Thanks for the suggestion. It doesn't appear to give me the quick reply options in the notification tray, though. :\

Glowfly does, though! And quite well, too! Best 99¢ ever spent.

Meh. It didn't work for me. Plus, it's über buggy. Glowfly let's you use any messenger. It just affects the notification drawer. Plus, its popup windows are better, in my opinion.

I always have problems with these third party sms apps, the notifications are always messed up, lightflow doesn't work right, I get the same messages twice a lot, and the list can go on.
.......I just want an AOSP rom so I can be done with these stupid problems, sense is going to be the death of HTC.

For sure, dude. I need me some Paranoid Android lovin' up in heeyah. Tablet apps in 1080p? Yes, please.

[Q] Google Voice - SMS Popup/Quick Reply?

Has anyone figured out a way to get quick reply or quick compose functionality with Google Voice? SMS Popup has this feature, but doesn't support GV SMS...
Or, is there a way to reply directly from the Android notification tray?
I have been endlessly searching for a solution, and I realized that you guys might know how to achieve this.
Thanks.
Anyone know a way to do this?
Maybe using an app like GO SMS?
Is it possible to do this at all?
When I emailed ChompSms they said it was on their to do list but no ETA.
Sent from my HTC Aria using XDA Premium
I dont see that coming. As was mentioned before GO SMS has that if you were using it for your primary number. I personally don't see any dev jumping on that for GV anytime soon since I see more people using GV as their "tiger woods" number these days lol. I was happy finally after the bugs were fixed and there actually was an indication in the notification shelf that I had a GV text.
I feel like there's gotta be a way to do this with Tasker - I'm still searching around, but if anyone has any ideas...

Not really, but man, is that thread a gold mine
The good news is, I got a tasker popup working for sms.. but I'm sure there's a much better way to do it. I'll post here as soon as I figure out.

That's good news. Does the popup include quick reply functionality?
If so, is the quick reply functionality available in the lockscreen?
Nah, no quick reply, and honestly, would have no idea how to do that. This basically pulls the text from the notification bar and displays it in a pop up- kinda ghetto style
But maybe there's a way to make it so, when u click on the popup, it jumps to the message in the app... I'll try that.
If someone made an app to do this using purely google voice and not traditional sms, I would pay at least $5 without a second thought. When I had an iphone, there was a jailbroken app that would let me hold a volume button and then show a quick compose pop up for regular sms.

Yeah, a GV app with quick reply would be really awesome.
I have seen the iPhone app you're referring to, and that's pretty much exactly what I think would be perfect...
just a little 3 months later bump (!) .. can't believe this is still an issue
I'll give it a bump too - would love GV popups.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Mayne if someone can take the coding from text plus because the text plus app has quick reply so maybe someome can integreate it into google voice app or make another app using it just a suggestion really want the quick rply because i use GV as my primary textong cuz i dont have and dont want texting through carrier
Does text plus work for gv notifications, even without quick reply?
. . NS4G . . CM7 . .
bump...and a callback feature would be epic
lol. I wish this wasn't still an issue. Any updates?
hey guys... hold on to your socks. I found an app that allows for Google Voice SMS popup notifications:
did a little post here:

Is there a way to get call controls in notification area on CM9?

I'm using CM9 and during a call, there are no options to mute, hang up, hold, or anything else in notification tray. This is the one thing I loved about the Samsung variant of Android. Do I simply need to install a dialer app from Google Play to get this functionality, or is there a feature in CM9 to enable this?
Can anyone help me get this functionality? Thanks in advance.
What would be the point all those buttons are on the in call screen in ICS?

If you are multitasking outside of the phone app while in speaker phone, isn't it pretty quick to pull down the notification tray and click the phone so the phone app opens (which has all the options), then just switch back to what you were doing? Doesn't even take 5 seconds to go from browser to phone, back to browser...
Although it would be a nice feature, it is not a necessary one.

Screen Wakes for Texts

Anyway to make my phone not wake up when I receive a text? I can't find it in the settings or anything. Im also on Jelly Beans.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
this was the same way on the s3, as well as the note, not sure about other samsung devices. but the answer is no. they made it like an iphone, it will wake up no matter what unless you custom rom it with CM or something pure google like.
Ah, really? Well that sucks lol. Oh well, it's not a guge deal or anything.

There has to be a setting somewhere in the code that wakes the screen up for these texts. Has to be. It doesn't just do it because it does it.
Someone will find it, and make it bend to their will. Just give it time.

I decompiled it earlier to look at.
There is no bools.xml so its going to be in a method.
I'll know more once I locate it.
The method that ive been using is this:
Disable sms notification on the native app
Install sms popup
Uncheck the popup when recieved option on sms popup
Configure the rest of the settings
(500ms for light, 5000ms for off time)
???
Profit.

The solution I found that worked for me was to disable all the notifications in the stock messaging app and have light flow control the sound and led notification. I've had light flow on my other Samsung phones and it's proved to be a great investment. Now whenever I get a text i get my sound and my led lights up red and stays on. much better on battery.

A big reason I want it to not pop up, cause I feel that's why my light flow isn't working cause I have it set so screen on makes the notification go away. I don't always want to have to open the app, but want the light gone.

New Feature for the Forums: Mention and Quote-Tracking!

If you are wondering (like I was) why you are getting quote notifications in the private messaging counts and via email read this XDA wiki post.
There are similar notifications by default when someone "mentions" you as "@username" in a post.
Both of these features can be configured from this page.

I think XDA is a bit confused.........this is not twitter so there's no need for mentions :good:

I know in tapatalk there's notifications set by default for that kind of stuff BUT I haven't used the XDA app in a long time so I'm not really sure.
I would assume that there's an option for that some where in settings since the XDA app is just a personalized version of the tapatalk app BUT I could be wrong.....

Does anyone know if the One has the option to see a preview of an email message in the notification pull down menu? I just bought this phone today and have not been able to find this setting? I thought it was a standard Jelly Bean option, but I could be mistaken.

I think you could just the 4.2.2 gmail apk and should work
Do you mean like this? I just sent myself a message. and that's how it looks in my notification bar. I do know that if it's a single line like WiFi TetherMod is, you drag it down using 2 fingers. So You'd drag WiFi Tether Mod down using 2 fingers and it would expand. (If the notification is capable)
EDIT: BTW, I'm using the stock Gmail app that comes out the market.

Does it look like this normally? If so, try dragging it with 2 fingers. I'm on Renovate. I don't think a ROM can add this feature. This feature is a JellyBean feature. I've had this feature on my Epic 4G Touch (GS2), as well.
The notification itself, if you drag it down with 2 fingers, it should expand. And you'd have more options and viewability. Like in my previous post.
I've also upload 2 more screenshots showing you a before and after of Google Music. It's a single bar, but if you drag it with 2 fingers it expands.
EDIT: Also it is not an option your turn on and off. By dragging, I mean the actual notification itself.

Any link for that? I'm not sure it would work over a stock rom, non rooted, but it is worth a try...
I'm interested. Do you have expandable notifications? I mean can you expand other notifications? I've always thought this was just a JellyBean feature and not something that could be taken out and added, or something of the sort.
I discovered that I won't get notifications unless auto sync is turned on. However, even with that on, I can't preview the notification.
I turned it back off because it also lights off the LED, which uses battery, and there is no way to turn that off separately.
I'd really rather save the battery than have constant notification of gmail messages.
The reason its not working for most of you is the battery saver notification. It is listed as a high priority/ongoing notification and essentially kills the auto expand. Expandable notifications have been in Android since 4.1 not 4.2

I'm still bone stock, no root, no mods, and I can expand my notifications (if they're expandable.) I have the notification for Power Saver, and this works whether it's toggled on or off.
You have to press and drag with TWO FINGERS to expand them. Not just one.

Sorry, you didn't say anything about "top notification" for "auto expand," what you said (or how it read) was that having the power saver notification in the notifications area was what was stopping folks from being able to expand notifications (with a two-finger swipe wasn't said, but seemed to be implied.) And I didn't think we were talking about "auto expand," but about being able to make them expand if they could...
I just did it on my stock ROM using the two finger method on the notification. I still have my Power saver notification showing also. I wish it would allow me to delete instead of archive.
