The carbon fiber part and the Andy part are two different pieces. Carbon fiber is one piece and the green Andy is another. Andy you peel the back off, apply it then peel the front clear layer. Like car stickers.
The carbon fiber piece is almost exactly the size of the back of the gTablet. I trimed the backing with scissors then lined it up to check before applying. I'm surprised I did it good the first time.
The glue on the carbon fiber is really really strong. Instructions say to start in the middle and push out. I don't think that's a good idea because of how strong the glue is.
I applied mine from the left to the right. Going real slow and pushing out the air bubbles as I went.
Anyhow, I love it. Feels great while holing the gTablet, gives it a texture feel to grip.
Guess no one likes it
I think it looks pretty cool...the wife agrees. Wondering if using a water and very little soap mixture sprayed on the sticky side of the vinyl would help the application? Obviously that would allow you to peel and stick a few times before finalizing its final spot and squeegeeing out the water. I've done that for applying clear headlight covers (Lamin-x) with success.
So these are the same skins, but one comes with Andy? BTW, Ithink it looks cool.

I like it.. although not sure if it's worth the $25.. is it in your opinion?... Especially since I am considering getting a case that it will most likely be carried in anyways..
Thats the same one I got so you know I like it....
I bought a similar one from Amazon. It came with a little spray bottle and soap solution and it made the installation very easy. Very much the same as applying decals or skins on automobiles. Just spray the soap water on the adhesive of the skin before applying. The soap water acts as a lubricant so you can move the skin around until you get it where you want it. Once position, carefully start working the water and air out from the center. Works great! Does a great job protecting my G-Tab. The screen protector that came with it is awesome too. Would highly recommend.
Waving Andy 2.0
I was one of the early adopters of this version of the carbon fiber rear skin. But pretty soon after installed it I noticed the waving Andy sticker was having problems. First, the antennas on Andy came loose and would get bent this way and that until finally falling off entirely. Secone, I noticed that there was a dark thinning line that was along the bottom of Andy's body where the gTab's case curves which only got darker and more noticible with time. Lastly, the sharper edges of Andy's upper body and lower part of his head on the sticker had begun to come loose. Eventually I pulled it off since it starting to look tacky.
Then, I contacted Aaron about it since he is the godfather of these skins and told him my issue. He came back with a solution which I liked a lot (but some may not). He made his own waving Andy sticker which was much thicker than the stock one that is shown in the first thread. It also had a white border all around the Andy so that there were no small pieces (like the antennas).
Anyway, I think this version will last much longer than the original version and because of the white border around this Andy I think it stands out even more.
Here's a pic of it in case you were wondering what I was talking about.
I ordered mine last week and I'm still waiting for its arrival.

I'm new here and registered to show how good this thing looks (in my opinion) with a carbon skin. I did the same for my iPad before I sold it. I uploaded the pictures to my User account photo album so I assume I just link them now.

Looks good. Can share with others here where you got the skin from? And is it really carbon fiber or just the design?

I purchased it from Skinomi. I like how the skin gave the white "bumpers" a darker look.

I got the same thing from Skinomi and I like it. I only added the one back panel.
That does look nice.
HTC Flyer / Tapatalk
Nice! Had a similar one from PhantomSkinz when I had my Captivate. Love the carbon look.
I have the same skin. I'm afraid the corners may start to peel back... Not faulting Skinomi, since it would be a problem with any cut to fit skin.
Just trying to think of ways to prevent it. Maybe a bead of nail-polish or super glue on the edges to smooth and reduce from catching... also prevent particles from getting under the edges.
I used a heat shrink gun for the edges and it pretty much gave it a very clean, secure adhesion to the tablet. I would think a hair blow dryer would do the same.
Did the same with a heat gun while wrapped in packing stretch wrap... But still feel as though it may get caught... Oh well, they sent me two by mistake or it may be there policy.

Yes, you really have to use a heat gun or blow dryer for best results ...I used a blow dryer.
I really want to get this skin combo but I wish they would cut out a section around the htc lettering like they do for the ipad skins.
I might just get it and do the cutting myself but I would prefer not to.
OP, thanks for bringing this to my attention.
Yes. I would have liked to see the HTC logo cut-out also. Overall its a nice cut.
Just installed yesterday. The pics are a bit lousy because the lighting here at work is crap and I can't just leave right now. I thought it would be nice to see the htc logo but after installing it I think it looks good as is.
It has a great textured feel to it and it adds a bit of grip to the view. I didn't install the sides because they just didn't line up right; I had to cut the skin for the top bumper because it would have prevented me from removing the cover if I need to get to my micro sdcard.
The screen protector that came with it is nice and doesn't have that rubbery feel that zagg's have. It doesn't affect the display at all unless you install it and leave many microbubbles and streaks behind.
Overall I give it 3.5 out of 5. The reason I rated it like this is because the original design prevents access to the micro sdcard without having to destroy the skin. Another reason is that the cutouts don't line up that great on the view. The edges that stick to the curves of the view seem to have been cut short and leave a bit of a gap between the skin edge and the edge it is supposed to wrap around.
Other than that, it's still not a bad price (29.95 I think I paid) for a full body-skin and screen protector. A heat gun or blow-dryer is a must use item when installing this skin. It makes the skin soft enough to be able to stretch it just bit if you need it to which is what I did in some areas to get the edges to line up correctly.
Nice skin but I agree it's a pain to cut the skin to be able to remove the sd card cover. And the corners we difficult to stay in place without putting a lot of heat to it. 3 stars for me.

I agree about the cutting of the cover portion. A razor did it fairly easily. The back portion of the skin is great. The rest is just meh. I must say though, that this company does stand behind their product. I wrote them after my install about the cover portion that came off when I tried to change out my micro sd card. He shipped me a whole new skin, screen protector and all. It was in my mailbox two days later. This is very rare these days. For that I give it four stars. I had a problem with a full body suit from body guards and still have not received my exchang from them, and that was weeks ago. The screen protector on this setup is one of the clearest I've used but it is a little grippy and feels unresponsive at times. Although, the finger prints are way less than when I had nothing at all.
I just wanted to let everyone know that the Skinomi carbon fiber skin and the Armor Suit carbon skin are the exact same thing. I just received my Armor suit today and was surprised when it was the exact thing. So if you're shopping for one you can get the cheaper of the two. Service wise the shipping was about the same, but Skinomi was on the ball with a replacement that same day. My Armor skin was originally for my Sammy 10.1 and I exchanged it for the flyer which took a month and me calling a few times to get it. I will say that they were very nice people and very understanding.
Here is mine
I just got this in today and snapped a few pictures for your guys

Mine was supposed to come yesterday, a package came and I opened the package and inside was someone else's order.
Skinomi swiftly sent me another one and it should be with me by Saturday. Ill share my pics as well once i get mine on.
do you like it?
the one thing i noticed from your pictures though that disturbs me, does it cover up the 2 speakerphone mics on the back????

There was a small cut-out I missed! Thanks to your post I got it
I could be wrong but I don't think those are speaker phone mics. When I took the training for this phone (i work for sprint) it advised those where mics for noise canceling.
Very nice!
I just placed an order for more of the 3M material yesterday. If you're feeling adventurous and want to DIY, follow my tutorial below like I did with my Evo last year:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-tips-tricks/86984-carbon-fiber-back-mod-tutorial.html
Got my carbon fiber skinomi, i applied the carbin fiber part fine, it looks great and ill be sure to share pictures later. it feels a bit funny to hold but overall it no big deal i can get used to it and feel like it offers the protection i need without some big bulky case.
unfortunately putting a new skinomi screen protector didnt go so well. i used a brand new cloth but still i managed to get even more lint under the skin, ill keep it on for now but im just going to get a traditional screen protector later on, i hate these liquid install ones.
I am using an Otterbox Defender, which is absolutely perfect for me - protects the entire phone, including screen, from bumps, scratches and drops.
Just curious why you folks opted for something (a carbon fiber skin) that apparently only protect the phone from scratches. I might be wrong but regardless it being carbon fiber overall looks really thin and compared to the $30 I paid for the Otterbox, how much protection does this carbon fiber skin provide?

It's really just for aesthetics. And it's not true Carbon Fiber... but a 3M adhesive material that is styled that way.
http://www.carbonfiberfilm.com/
all i need to do is protect the phone from scratches, the phone itself without a case is pretty sturdy compared to the EVO4G. I am not saying go ahead and drop the phone but i have much more faith in this phone. i love the carbon fiber look too.
btw i ripped off the skinomi screen protection, i just hate these damn liquid-install screen protectors, ill just use a traditional one.
i put my carbon fiber skin on today and was not happy with it. the side skins do not pull down enough to meet and join together at the top and bottom. I covered my evo with the 3M with just an hours time and steady hand. i feel i could do a better job then this carbon skin kit for the photon. so im peeling mine off and got some 3M carbon fiber adhesive ill use. :/ kinda upset they did not get the cut outs well enough to wrap all the way around. and the liquid screen thing drives me up the wall. i took it off. rather put the gorilla glass to use then not have a clear screen.
sinomi is sending me another kit bc i complained. ill see if its any different. i doubt
I had a Transformers Autobots logo decal on my netbook for the longest time... I thought it was sorta cute, at 'least until the new Transformer movies came out.
Anyway, the ASUS Transforer's textured back is too rough for for any larger decal like that (such a shame, wouldve been perfect on it given the name and form factor!), same with the dock; but I had this smaller Android decal laying around and after some measuring I realized it was perfect for the dock's edge/hinge, and voila...
I bought it over a year ago when I got a full sized Andy for my car's rear window, but if anyone else wants the exact same decal for their TF I can dig into my email and figure out where I ordered it from.
You can get skins made that fit on the textured back fine and you can submit any picture you like for uploading on the decal. In theory they are meant to non-copyright images but I am sure that is to cover their as#'s and they don't really check - trust me ;o). Google Zagg - zaggskins. I put on some really cool artwork on my tab's skin and now it looks awesome. Just a shame that they don't have one for the dock. Not cheap but to protect and customise a $500 tab it's worth it.
Had a spare sticker, so chucked this on.
Not been into a StarBucks with it to get funny looks yet, hopefully no-one from Gizmodo is on the prowl.
The glow effect is just the camera flash. Sticks on fairly well, but if it peels off? meh, I'll not be fussed.
Nice, now youre a kool kat. I wanna add a turtle head and limbs to match the texture
I'm not sure Zagg skins would work on the ASUS tablet, the back isn't just textured, it's downright full of dents... It's hard to explain, but you could easily puncture or poke into anything stuck on the back as the grooves (more like shell marks) are fairly significant. I kinda like the unique look tho, feels alright on the hand and doesn't get dirty or scoff easily.
Any skins or decals will work fine. The texture of the dock is the same as the tablet. I have used 3M Dinoc on mine and it sticks just fine. I did both the tablet and dock.
Here is the tablet, dock is the same but without the bee and android name.

Zagg skins work fine on the back (or anywhere else). I put mine on my transformer a week ago no probs at all - the dents are not a problem (like a golf ball) it won't peirce or tear they are strong and designed for it. Don't worry go for it looks awesome.

If directed to me, then no not at all. I even slide it in to my case fine and nothing has peeled up. There is a little slither of the back that isn't covered, but it isn't noticeable. I only know about it because I'm the one that put it on

If directed at me the Zagg skin is fine and not peeling around the edges at all - my girlfriend has had one on her phone for a year + and no probs at all. Regarding the invisible shield on the screen - a little harder to apply and all comes down to your initial application (have done shed loads of them so I am all good with mine) - but it has a lifetime warranty anyway - so if it went crap or starts to peel pull it off send it back and get a replacement - you " had to get your device serviced "

Easy!!! here is an old tutorial back when I did my Old EVO
Is done with a sheet of Carbon fiber wrap used on cars
If you dont have the Cardon sheet PM and we can work something out !I have plenty!!
Firts. I detach the backcase
Second, peel off the carbon fiber wrap and stick it to the clean surface of the back of your phone.
Third, Grab your wifes / girlfriend or mother blowdryer and just mold the edges. ( Common sense, when you appy the heat the wraper will mold to any shape or corner. No need to over over heat )
Then trim to shape, with blade / exacto knife.
Then your ready!!
Dinoc ftw!

I was wondering what is left behind on the plastic cover should you choose to remove the carbon wrap? Does it leave a sticky residue which I guess Goo Gone could remove easily?
I was wondering same about 'undoing'. As for goo gone, hopefully you don't mean something like goof off, which is lacquer based and would essentially melt the plastic cover.
Edit: yeah, that bushed aluminum looks sweet! I, personally, think a lot of them look too shiny/glossy.
Now, if only Wallet worked, I'd order it lol

Goo Gone not Goof Off
Never used Goof Off, but the product Goo Gone is good at removing any sticky residue left from price tags or stickers on products. I don't think it would harm the plastic, and it probably isn't lacquer based.
Is the carbon fiber very smooth or does it have some texture / grip feel to it?

No, if you remove it it will not leave any glue or sticky stuff.
Actually, where do you get your carbon fiber from? I'm sure I could use plenty of that on phones, automotive, audio, and everything else I own.
A lot of companies will you send you a free sample of Di-Noc. That's where I got mine (to do my OG 4G).
If this is actually removable (so I don't need another top cover for returns), I'm so doing this, just gonna make sure to carve out the camera hole so I can see the red.
Just did the same thing, the back hole including the red ring is approx. 1.2mm in diameter, and I just found something around that size and cut a hole around it, then stabbed the xacto into the cutting pad and slid the piece around it like a jigsaw to finish off the circle. The total job took around an hour for perfect cuts of all the circles aside from the camera due to me being a bit of a newbie and a bit blind.
Someone said that they make a 15 dollar thing that does the same, but looking at the skinomi carbon reviews, it looks like around the corners they use relief cuts in order to make it around the corners. Using di-noc or a similiar thin vinyl wrap, you can heat it up around the corners and get it to stretch slightly and actually wrap instead of just leaving some parts slightly uncovered to make it work. In my experience also with other products that do this to corners, those sections peel off after awhile because they get caught on your pockets while you slide the device in and out.
Second time working with Di-noc, my vision is a little blurry right now from all the focusing up close, so i'm going to take a break from the monitor, but before I go, one VERY important tip to anyone that is going to try this: use a new blade on the xacto, the sharper and pointier it is the easier time you will have with all the details, i ended up using just the very tip to cut out most of the details.
So I also own a Note 3 and dig the leather back but don't dig that it is fake as hell. I picked up the ZU when it went on sale about a month or so ago and though I do like the glass material I felt I was worrying too much about it. I couldn't find a case that I liked that fit in the dock and just kept worrying about scratching the back up. So... I just bought some leather sample and some el cheapo screen protectors and went to work.
I quite like the result though cutting out the camera hole was the worst part. Another good thing is that this is easily removed and reused if so desired.

Thanks dude. Nah, I used some 3m double stick tape. It's the stuff I believe they use to put spoilers on cars. That leather isn't going anywhere. You can see how I laid it down in the second pic. I double stuck it onto an illumishield back screen protector so I can easily peel it off and put it back on at will with no loss of stickiness in case I want to switch back to my incipio case.

Thanks, it looks really great. I have to find out how to do it by myself without rear sample protector.
I would suggest just buying a cheap rear protector because it would serve as the template for the cutout and also allow you to remove it easily otherwise you'd have to stick it on directly on the glass which would be a more semi permanent solution. But if you really want to do it without the back protector then just take a piece of paper and etch around with a pencil and you should have a good template to cut around.
I'm thinking of cutting out an opening for the Sony logo but I'm afraid if it might look like cheap. I may try to hunt down some red leather if I can find it on the cheap. Maybe I can find an old school Michael Jackson jacket at the thrift store and chop it up. Also I plan to buy a Muvit Bimat case and removing the clear portion and fit the leather around the bumper area of the case. I think that might be pretty sweet.

Well here is a better idea... Just get some wide clear tape, I'd use some clear shelf liner like for cabinets and stick it to the back of the phone then draw your pattern. Peel that off the phone and lay it on some wax paper then glue the leather onto the non stick side of it and cut out the pattern. It is really just a square cutout, the hardest part would be the camera hole. Thank God this thing doesn't have a flash because cutting out that hole was a PITA. That way you will have sticky on one side and leather on the other.
The shelf liner is like 5 bucks at any grocery store.
Thanks a million man! I will try to win this battle on weekend.
Great job you should start charging people to have this done your make a killing dude.
