damn thanks man
you beat me to this, i thought i would be the first to share it but i didn't end up getting it as hoped yesterday.
Mine was supposed to come yesterday, a package came and I opened the package and inside was someone else's order.
Skinomi swiftly sent me another one and it should be with me by Saturday. Ill share my pics as well once i get mine on.
do you like it?
the one thing i noticed from your pictures though that disturbs me, does it cover up the 2 speakerphone mics on the back????

There was a small cut-out I missed! Thanks to your post I got it
I could be wrong but I don't think those are speaker phone mics. When I took the training for this phone (i work for sprint) it advised those where mics for noise canceling.
Very nice!
I just placed an order for more of the 3M material yesterday. If you're feeling adventurous and want to DIY, follow my tutorial below like I did with my Evo last year:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-tips-tricks/86984-carbon-fiber-back-mod-tutorial.html
Got my carbon fiber skinomi, i applied the carbin fiber part fine, it looks great and ill be sure to share pictures later. it feels a bit funny to hold but overall it no big deal i can get used to it and feel like it offers the protection i need without some big bulky case.
unfortunately putting a new skinomi screen protector didnt go so well. i used a brand new cloth but still i managed to get even more lint under the skin, ill keep it on for now but im just going to get a traditional screen protector later on, i hate these liquid install ones.
I am using an Otterbox Defender, which is absolutely perfect for me - protects the entire phone, including screen, from bumps, scratches and drops.
Just curious why you folks opted for something (a carbon fiber skin) that apparently only protect the phone from scratches. I might be wrong but regardless it being carbon fiber overall looks really thin and compared to the $30 I paid for the Otterbox, how much protection does this carbon fiber skin provide?

I don't drop my phone so a case isn't necessary for me.

It's really just for aesthetics. And it's not true Carbon Fiber... but a 3M adhesive material that is styled that way.
http://www.carbonfiberfilm.com/
all i need to do is protect the phone from scratches, the phone itself without a case is pretty sturdy compared to the EVO4G. I am not saying go ahead and drop the phone but i have much more faith in this phone. i love the carbon fiber look too.
btw i ripped off the skinomi screen protection, i just hate these damn liquid-install screen protectors, ill just use a traditional one.
i put my carbon fiber skin on today and was not happy with it. the side skins do not pull down enough to meet and join together at the top and bottom. I covered my evo with the 3M with just an hours time and steady hand. i feel i could do a better job then this carbon skin kit for the photon. so im peeling mine off and got some 3M carbon fiber adhesive ill use. :/ kinda upset they did not get the cut outs well enough to wrap all the way around. and the liquid screen thing drives me up the wall. i took it off. rather put the gorilla glass to use then not have a clear screen.
sinomi is sending me another kit bc i complained. ill see if its any different. i doubt

The carbon fiber part and the Andy part are two different pieces. Carbon fiber is one piece and the green Andy is another. Andy you peel the back off, apply it then peel the front clear layer. Like car stickers.
The carbon fiber piece is almost exactly the size of the back of the gTablet. I trimed the backing with scissors then lined it up to check before applying. I'm surprised I did it good the first time.
The glue on the carbon fiber is really really strong. Instructions say to start in the middle and push out. I don't think that's a good idea because of how strong the glue is.
I applied mine from the left to the right. Going real slow and pushing out the air bubbles as I went.
Anyhow, I love it. Feels great while holing the gTablet, gives it a texture feel to grip.
Guess no one likes it
I think it looks pretty cool...the wife agrees. Wondering if using a water and very little soap mixture sprayed on the sticky side of the vinyl would help the application? Obviously that would allow you to peel and stick a few times before finalizing its final spot and squeegeeing out the water. I've done that for applying clear headlight covers (Lamin-x) with success.
So these are the same skins, but one comes with Andy? BTW, Ithink it looks cool.

I like it.. although not sure if it's worth the $25.. is it in your opinion?... Especially since I am considering getting a case that it will most likely be carried in anyways..
Thats the same one I got so you know I like it....
I bought a similar one from Amazon. It came with a little spray bottle and soap solution and it made the installation very easy. Very much the same as applying decals or skins on automobiles. Just spray the soap water on the adhesive of the skin before applying. The soap water acts as a lubricant so you can move the skin around until you get it where you want it. Once position, carefully start working the water and air out from the center. Works great! Does a great job protecting my G-Tab. The screen protector that came with it is awesome too. Would highly recommend.
Waving Andy 2.0
I was one of the early adopters of this version of the carbon fiber rear skin. But pretty soon after installed it I noticed the waving Andy sticker was having problems. First, the antennas on Andy came loose and would get bent this way and that until finally falling off entirely. Secone, I noticed that there was a dark thinning line that was along the bottom of Andy's body where the gTab's case curves which only got darker and more noticible with time. Lastly, the sharper edges of Andy's upper body and lower part of his head on the sticker had begun to come loose. Eventually I pulled it off since it starting to look tacky.
Then, I contacted Aaron about it since he is the godfather of these skins and told him my issue. He came back with a solution which I liked a lot (but some may not). He made his own waving Andy sticker which was much thicker than the stock one that is shown in the first thread. It also had a white border all around the Andy so that there were no small pieces (like the antennas).
Anyway, I think this version will last much longer than the original version and because of the white border around this Andy I think it stands out even more.
Here's a pic of it in case you were wondering what I was talking about.
I ordered mine last week and I'm still waiting for its arrival.

I too have the Carbon Fiber Skinomi back cover and a similar Android STICKER, I think it looks Great and makes it really unique! I thank you for the idea!!
I'm new here and registered to show how good this thing looks (in my opinion) with a carbon skin. I did the same for my iPad before I sold it. I uploaded the pictures to my User account photo album so I assume I just link them now.

Looks good. Can share with others here where you got the skin from? And is it really carbon fiber or just the design?

I purchased it from Skinomi. I like how the skin gave the white "bumpers" a darker look.
Really wish the pictures linked

I got the same thing from Skinomi and I like it. I only added the one back panel.
That does look nice.
HTC Flyer / Tapatalk
Nice! Had a similar one from PhantomSkinz when I had my Captivate. Love the carbon look.
I have the same skin. I'm afraid the corners may start to peel back... Not faulting Skinomi, since it would be a problem with any cut to fit skin.
Just trying to think of ways to prevent it. Maybe a bead of nail-polish or super glue on the edges to smooth and reduce from catching... also prevent particles from getting under the edges.
I used a heat shrink gun for the edges and it pretty much gave it a very clean, secure adhesion to the tablet. I would think a hair blow dryer would do the same.
Did the same with a heat gun while wrapped in packing stretch wrap... But still feel as though it may get caught... Oh well, they sent me two by mistake or it may be there policy.

Yes, you really have to use a heat gun or blow dryer for best results ...I used a blow dryer.
I really want to get this skin combo but I wish they would cut out a section around the htc lettering like they do for the ipad skins.
I might just get it and do the cutting myself but I would prefer not to.
OP, thanks for bringing this to my attention.
Yes. I would have liked to see the HTC logo cut-out also. Overall its a nice cut.
Just installed yesterday. The pics are a bit lousy because the lighting here at work is crap and I can't just leave right now. I thought it would be nice to see the htc logo but after installing it I think it looks good as is.
It has a great textured feel to it and it adds a bit of grip to the view. I didn't install the sides because they just didn't line up right; I had to cut the skin for the top bumper because it would have prevented me from removing the cover if I need to get to my micro sdcard.
The screen protector that came with it is nice and doesn't have that rubbery feel that zagg's have. It doesn't affect the display at all unless you install it and leave many microbubbles and streaks behind.
Overall I give it 3.5 out of 5. The reason I rated it like this is because the original design prevents access to the micro sdcard without having to destroy the skin. Another reason is that the cutouts don't line up that great on the view. The edges that stick to the curves of the view seem to have been cut short and leave a bit of a gap between the skin edge and the edge it is supposed to wrap around.
Other than that, it's still not a bad price (29.95 I think I paid) for a full body-skin and screen protector. A heat gun or blow-dryer is a must use item when installing this skin. It makes the skin soft enough to be able to stretch it just bit if you need it to which is what I did in some areas to get the edges to line up correctly.
Nice skin but I agree it's a pain to cut the skin to be able to remove the sd card cover. And the corners we difficult to stay in place without putting a lot of heat to it. 3 stars for me.

I agree about the cutting of the cover portion. A razor did it fairly easily. The back portion of the skin is great. The rest is just meh. I must say though, that this company does stand behind their product. I wrote them after my install about the cover portion that came off when I tried to change out my micro sd card. He shipped me a whole new skin, screen protector and all. It was in my mailbox two days later. This is very rare these days. For that I give it four stars. I had a problem with a full body suit from body guards and still have not received my exchang from them, and that was weeks ago. The screen protector on this setup is one of the clearest I've used but it is a little grippy and feels unresponsive at times. Although, the finger prints are way less than when I had nothing at all.
I just wanted to let everyone know that the Skinomi carbon fiber skin and the Armor Suit carbon skin are the exact same thing. I just received my Armor suit today and was surprised when it was the exact thing. So if you're shopping for one you can get the cheaper of the two. Service wise the shipping was about the same, but Skinomi was on the ball with a replacement that same day. My Armor skin was originally for my Sammy 10.1 and I exchanged it for the flyer which took a month and me calling a few times to get it. I will say that they were very nice people and very understanding.
Here is mine
Okay this is my first review so bare with me on this one. I purchased the HTC case specifically designed for the Rezound. Overall makes the Rezound a bit beefier feeling, but still forms the Rezound curvature. I would guess it expands the width about 1/8" and same with bottom. But none added to the height, this is where the case starts failing. The case was very easy to install by just simply snap it on. Fits very snug and hugs the contours of the phone around the headphone jack and buttons. It is composed plastic and a synthetic fiber material. The plastic case on the exterior has a smooth rubbery texture around the perimeter of the device. Inside on the rear of the cover is a stitched applied "grip" from said fiber. I'm not good with material but seems to be like some form of a polyester. Overall, a fair case until we start talking about protection. Included is pictures with brief description. Now for the bad, it is definitely not an Otterbox. With the case attached, all four corners are unprotected and susceptible to damage. The case itself stops short right at the top and bottom giving you minor protection on these two sides. The other two sides (left and right) are covered, but still have issues. The case does not come up even or higher than the elevation of the screen. The screen/bezel sticks up just a tad, but still not good. If the phone were to be dropped perfectly parallel with the ground screen side down, this phone wouldn't have a fighting chance with this case on. If no screen protector was applied, just sliding it around face down could cause unnecessary scratches. Now back to the back part of the case. The stitched "grip" has a couple flaws in itself. I barely took my fingernail over this material, and I could see the material ripping apart. Think about his sliding in and out of your pocket. Also, the stitched part is held down with some epoxy that doesn't seem to hold very well. Around the camera cover, the material was coming up just rubbing my finger over it. Not even trying to dig into it, just merely rubbing my finger over it. Overall this phone fails in a great portion of protection, and construction. The good is it still maintains the original feel of the Rezound.

This is the full rear shot the back. Just shows kinda the make up and construction of the case.
Just a quick picture of the HTC logo on the back of the case in closer detail.
Rear showing of the case around the speaker.
The camera area where I found the "grip" to seem loose from attachment.
This is the bottom side of the device, as show the whole bottom is exposed to potential damage.
A shot of the device and case from side. Kind of hard to tell, but the screen bezel sticks up higher than the actual case.
And this is a shot of the corner, and the exposure it has.

figured a skin with the sleeve may be perfect for me.
i can't stand these bulky leather cases.
Very strange here... I got my wife the pink one back on 12/22. I got my black one last week.
My wife's is a piece of crap. Fell apart within 2 days of starting to use it. I use mine a lot more that she does, and I've had no problems with mine...
Very happy so far with mine, and hate her's.
I loved the concept of slim & minimal & uses the keyboard slots but the reviews & laughable price scared me off.

hmm strange.. thanks for the feedback.
AS long as you protect the back from being scratched and don't care there is no closure clasp/magnet I am sure it's fine...a little spendy though.
I just got mine today. So far, I like it. My idea is that I'd either use this or the keyboard dock (which requires I find one and buy it, which has not yet happened).
I did put a small piece of clear tape on the outsides of the holes the cover clips into for a bit of protection. Honestly, I can hardly tell the tape is there.
I wish someone would make a product exactly like the transleeve, however with a thin & clear TPU back that the cover would hinge onto, and that would add the magnets necessary to keep the cover in place.
I guess it can't hurt to dream
I got mine today and absolutely love it. Very thin and light. Exactly what i wanted. Why would i cover the back of this beautiful device.

FWIW i got mine yesterday and i too love it. it does what it says it does. it adds no bulk, protects the screen and acts as a useful stand.
sure its pricey but w/e. its better for me than a bulky 3rd party case that makes the device look terrible.
i have a skinomi skin coming today, that along with the sleeve i think will be perfect for me. no bulk and protected.
I have mine since December and I have had zero issues. I love it.
My black cover is arriving today. I purchased the clear Skinomi back protector and screen protector to help eliminate scratches. From the feedback, it seems like as long as it doesn't fall apart on me I will be pleased.
I have a neoprene case that I carry it in and wanted to have a cover/stand to prop it up and this is PERFECT. I'm very eager to test it out tonight when I get home, it should be a good addition.
Where have you guys been buying the transleeve? Any cheaper than $40?

I searched amazon and it showed they had a used/like new one so I bought it for $30. I can return it if I don't like it so I figured I would save a few bucks. It's probably someone who freaked out and returned theirs when they heard about scratching.
i got my used off amazon as well for $30.00 free shipping. was perfect shape.. like it so much i might get the actual color i wanted (green) as well.
I was liking mine until my Prime slipped off my desk and hit right on one corner. The transleeve just popped off and there's now a nice little dent. Still works, but fair warning--it doesn't provide much protection in a fall.
I actually really like it. If you're generally careful with your tablet and your main concern is protecting the screen from scratches, I think it's perfect. I'm very happy with the combination of the transleeve and a neoprene case/sleeve for traveling.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk
Here's what mine looks like. I'm very pleased with the sleeve. I have the Carbon fiber full body screen protector to compliment the black sleeve. It's not ment to be impact resistant so be careful where you set your tablet down. I also added some tape around the corners so that the connectors don't scratch the edges.

I do like the Amethyst Gray. Especially now with the carbon fiber skin. I think it compliments it better vs the Champagne. The lighter color of the Champagne will show all the little pieces to the carbon fiber skin which will look tacky and cheap imo. The darker tones of Amethyst Gray hides all the seperations better.
I bought one before I even had the tablet. I love it, as it's light and slim and protects the screen without bulk. I also have the keyboard dock, but since my need for that is less routine, the Transleeve is the go-to cover for me and has served me quite well so far.

I mean, it might if it is done correctly. I have never seen how thick/thin the OEM back cover is by itself, so I wouldn't know what to say about how far it would be sticking out.
The wood cover comes with the standard 3M adhesive you would find on something like the Dbrand/Slickwraps, but it actually has a cutout, on the adhesive side, that keeps the adhesive off of the 'NEXUS' lettering. I think the adhesive on this is a bit stronger, so it seems.
I think if you could figure out a way to adhere it evenly across the service, it could work. It's definitely rigid enough, albeit flexible. I am not sure that flexibility would stand up to the gaps underneath the OEM back cover.
You'd also probably want to have TOAST make a solid one with the dimple filled in, if they would even do that, so you have nothing exposed underneath.
Very nice! I just got my TOAST in today too. Walnut with a front cover on a MB!

Your phone looks AMAZING!! Which brand front skin did you use? I tried the dbrand mahogany front skin over a Jelly Comb tempered glass protector, which sort-of worked... until I tried to put my Spigen slim case on the phone and it tore the front skin AND glass protector right off the front of the phone lol. Thinking I might go with the toast back cover and leave the case off, but definitely interested in what you used for the front (skin and protector) because it came out fantastic!
These are such handsome-looking phones. I would feel too exposed without a more shock-absorbing bumper around all sides, but these have the feel of something personally crafted, which is remarkable for something as ubiquitous as a cellphone.

It's actually Toast brand, so it's a little bit raised unlike a dbrand but more durable. I currently don't have a screen protector on it as I never use them if I have something elevating the screen. It's maybe about half as thick as a credit card so not annoying at all.
I just ordered my Toast skin last night. How does the skin feel? I've seen a cpl guys over at G+ complaining that the phone felt to slippery.

It's pretty grippy but smooth, like one of those wooden puzzles you play with. Definitely does a lot for the slipperiness of this massive phone! It only gets better with time as the wood does age slightly.
From my experience, the ebony wood is slightly more slippery on account of the varnish used to make the wood (it's not real ebony!) darker.
It's definitely less slippery then the default backing. The wood feels very very nice!
How does the ridge/edge feel?
I'm thinking of getting this for my incoming Nexus 6 - I do wonder about how the raised lip feels considering it sticks up higher than the back plate? Can you feel the edge of the wood cover? It's such a great smooth phone, I would be a little bummed if there was a rough edge feel in hand.

They edges are sanded down to make them smooth.
The wood texture looks great but it clearly isn't flush with the edge of the phone. Since it's just stuck onto the existing back this is inevitable.
If we could use this instead of the existing back I'd seriously think about it but it looks too much of a bodge just stuck on top of the stock back.
I have been given multiple compliments regarding this cover. The edges are not as noticeable as you'd think (I thought it was going to bother me more than it did), the sanding seems like a good work around. I will try it. :good:
Can't post links yet. Just pry of your old back and it fits pretty damn good.
