So, my gf's white fascinate running superclean 2.9.2 has booted into safe mode randomly each of the last 3 days. Has anyone else had this problem? And are there any solutions? I've flashed the rom more than once and sometimes it reboots at 30% battery.
Mine boots into that safe mode thing after I run the script to wipe battery stats in terminal. Another reboot and it boots into the normal mode. I have no idea why it does that.
Same problem, she reboots and its fine for a day. My phone has the same setup and no problems. Hoping someone can help me out.
i used to have that problem on 2.9.1 all the time, but since 2.9.2 i havent had any problems

I did. Tomorrow I think ill do an Odin back to stock, then flash 2.9.2 again and see if it works.
Ok. My girlfriend's Fascinate has been doing this while mine hasn't and we're both running 2.9.2. It may be time to wipe her phone to get everything working properly again. I tried running fix permissions on Thursday, so I'm gonna wait to see if that fixes the problem. If it doesn't, it's wipe city.
Yeah, the whole "deep clean" where you manually wipe all the partitions from Clockwork (twice, if you're paranoid) *before* you do a full Odin may be good, just to be safe.

Okay so my phone decided to do a force close on everything that i tried to do so I turned it off and tried to turn it back on again but all i was getting was the galaxy screen flash up and then it would turn black.
I flashed with Odin 3 times now and it says that it was successfull but when i go to turn the phone on it reboots and says that the data wipe has failed and then continues to flash the galaxy screen and then black. Can someone please help. I am a noob and haven't done anything but flash my phone.
The answers you are going to get are to odin back to stock, however ive had this problem and to get past it I had to do a factory wipe all data in the recovery menu then it booted. You lose all data. Before you do that try cycling the phone through restarts with battery pulls, I had another issue where doing this kicked me into normal boot after about 18 tries. I'm no expert but this is how I got fixed. Mine was a busy box issue it was never installed right

yeah, i agree w/ kcp about the battery pull... I would try this to see if you can get your system up and running, so that way you can dl Titatium Backup and Rom Manager. I had a problem on mine that would not let me reinstall packages and then it would never leave recovery, but after i pulled the battery, rebooted, and downloaded rom manager, i found that it was the same issue as kcp (busy box had to be updated). I don't understand why, after you re-flashed the Rom w/ odin it is not working.... did you flash 2.1 or 2.2? Remember, after you flash with odin you need to wipe data and chached memory, then reboot (maybe a battery pull). Try to give more info about exactly how you flashed w/ odin.
Also my titanium says it downloads busy box but doesn't had to go get it from the market and put it in the x bin you might want to do the same when it boots to be safe.

How do i know if i flashed with 2.1 or 2.2? How do you wipe data and cached memory? I turned it back on after i flashed and it showed that it was rebooting and wiped the cached memory but the data wipe failed.
also, my phone is not unlocked
Update: I flashed with 2.2 but I did not know that it was for tmobile. I am with bell. Now i can't get it to go into download mode so that I can flash with the right rom. It also won't charge when plugged in. Am i going to have to just get a new phone?
anything on this yet? mine is cycling aswell and cant get it into DL mode ;(
I used to have over 100 hrs of battery life with stock DI01 Fascinate.
I was using DJ05 SuperDark ROM and StupidFast kernel (non-voodoo) about 2 weeks ago. It was running fine but started to have worse and worse battery life.
(approximately 48 hrs -> 24 hrs)
So, Decided to flash recently released EB01 SuperClean2.4 with voodoo.
I've been using SC 2.4 about 12days.
Right now, My phone dies after 8 hrs.....
Never flashed many themes or Roms..
only Stock -> DJ05 SuperDark&StupidFast -> EB01 SC 2.4 with voodoo
is it caused by a virus or something? I'm confusing..
I think I must restore my phone to DI01 unrooted to save my phone..
Since I flashed SC 2.4 voodoo Rom, I read that I have to remove voodoo before use DI01 Odin Fix-All.
Can I do it on red CWM and then restore to DI01 with odin?
Or some other way to restore?
I love my phone but it's killing me now with short lived battery..
I appreciate you guys' opinions and comments about my situation.
EDIT: I Just want to make sure if DI01 odin package will fix my problems now.
Thank you guys for all the comments so far.
Will I have my awesome battery life back if I do DI01 odin package?!
If you're doing the full Odin restore it will overwrite the voodoo kernel.
Sent from my Super Clean 2.6 Froyo - Voodoo - Fascinate!
If you use the DI01 odin all in one package, you don't have to remove Voodoo, just flash and be done with it.
Thank you all for comments.
Reason why I asked how to remove voodoo before flash DI01 odin all in one is adrenalyne is saying so in his post on androidforums.
Please note:
While this should remove Voodoo 4/5 (and anything else), you should take all other paths to remove it first.
You can just flash the all in one package without disabling voodoo. But if you feel better doing so, boot into red CWM, disable the lag fix, reboot to let the file system convert, and then you are good.
How the hell does a battery last 100 hours?
Rocking dj05, themed superdark w/o swype mod, voodoo 5, with custom boot and shutdown..

I doubt that so much, unless you had the phone off for half the time, the phone WILL die at around 30.

I wish I know how to post screenshot but can't figure out how to..
because it says enter the URL of image and I don't have URL.
but, the point is I'm having horrible battery now.. not a memory of 100 hrs..
I am so sad that I can't even enjoy a day with this great phone.
Will DI01 Odin all in one package fix my battery to the state of new phone?!
First, grab adrynalyne's battery stats wipe script fix (if you don't already have it). Try charging your phone to full. Then, turn it off (while still plugged in) and let that go to full. Now, go into CWM and wipe the battery stats. Now turn on and let the phone charge again, then power off and let that charge all the way. Just for extra effect, you could now try clearing it again.
If you flash a rom when your battery is <100%, your phone won't automatically recharge all the way.

Thanks, but I tried adrynalyne's battery wipe scripts already, but mine is just getting worse and worse
I installed bstats.zip 2 or 3 times in red CWM to make sure.
and then, ran the script in terminal emulator by typing these:
$ appears
type su and enter (At first time, it asks for superuser permission, so pressed Yes)
# appears
type bstats and enter
the phone rebooted and hopefully wipe the battery stats.
I thought it worked at first time, but no luck for me..
Just want to make sure if DI01 odin package will fix my problems now.
Something tells me you just need a new battery.
A little background first:
I came from a stock vibrant with JI6, rooted it, and installed Trigger 2.6.4 along with Overstock 1.1 and then 1.2.1. Everything was working fine.
So Trigger 2.7 came out and I ODIN back to stock, flash Trigger, and let it sit for at least 10 minutes. I then reboot, reboot again into recovery, and proceed to install Overstock 1.3. It is then that I'm stuck on the Overstock boot screen and end up having to go back to download mode to stock to get things working again.
Here are the steps I've been taking: (tried this a few times and redownloaded/checked file hashes just to make sure)
1. I go from stock to root to rom manager to CWM
2. I wipe to factory default and wipe cache partition
3. I install Trigger 2.7 from zip
4. I wipe Dalvik and fix permissions
5. Reboot and let it sit for 10-15 min after phone finishes booting
6. Reboot again and let it sit for about 5 min
7. Reboot to CWM recovery and flash Overstock 1.3
8. Wipe Dalvik and fix permissions
9. Reboot and stuck at Overstock bootscreen (waited about 10 min)
Am I missing any steps? If not, I cannot seem to get this combination. I loved the Trigger + Overstock combo when I had it but I cannot seem to get it to work. Any help would be appreciated!
You said you checked the md5, right?
Why wipe/fp after flashing the kernel? I just reboot.
How long is it stuck at the Vibrant screen?
No md5 present for the kernel but I did check the md5 of the rom. I also redownloaded the kernel a few times and each time the md5 was the same.
I just tried your method of not wiping or fixing permissions. I get the same problem of it freezing at the Overstock boot screen. It sits at this screen indefinitely. It only shows the Vibrant screen for a few seconds before it gets stuck at the Overstock screen.
Hmm... consider me stumped. I will continue to research.
BT confirmed that OS works with 2.7. That said, looking over the last posts in the thread, it sounds like some people are having issues.
Maybe try s0niqu3s kernel man? I used it and loved it. Basically the same thing but without the RAM hack. Very close to stock and you may have a more stable kernel.... or atleast one that will flash for you.

I'm using 2.7 with Overstock 1.3 right now. I've never had that issue.
When you tried it without wiping cache or fixing permissions was it after a fresh flash? Or did you flash over OverStock (lol).

Yes it (Overstock) was over a fresh flash of Trigger 2.7. Per the suggestion above, I also tried the CWK and that one works just fine. Overstock just does not play nice on my phone for some reason? I just tried flashing CWK and then Overstock to see if that stepping stone method worked and I'm stuck at the Overstock screen again...
I'm pretty stumped at this point.
Back to ODIN...
Edit: Is there any way I can combine Overstock and Trigger together in one flash? I'm wondering if that would solve my issue.
After poking around the zip file for the Overstock kernel and comparing it to the CWK that worked, I noticed that there is an extra file called NOTICE in the Overstock one. What is that file used for? Would it be safe to remove it? Does anyone think that might be the issue? Another possible theory of mine would be to just transfer the two kernel files from Overstock to the CWK zip and replace those 2 files there. What do you think?
I'm running Trigger final and os and never happens to me. I do not wipe anything before or after flashing overstock. Once done with a fresh trigger, simply flash os.

Is it possibly the RAM hack in Overstock that might be an issue?
Are you running anything else: per say set CPU?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
Nope just a fresh flash of Trigger.
I'm having the same exact problem as Androidium. Only difference is Ive tried flashing Overstock on multiple roms with no luck. I've noticed the problems after using Deadhorse. Could that be the source of the problem?

How about Odin back to stock with repartition checked and starting over?

Hey guys... I am not new to using odin, flashing roms, pushing stuff to sd, etc, but I have ran into a problem recently that I can't seem to fix. It doesn't matter what rom I flash and use, I keep getting random shutdowns on my phone, especially after it gets below 20%. Other people using the same roms do not have this trouble.
That being said, most of the time, I odin back to Froyo before flashing a new rom (and yes, I wait about 15 minutes without touching the phone after each flash, do factory reset/wipe, wipe dalvic cache, fix permissions, etc). The Froyo files I use are Eugene's 512.pit file and the JK2.tar file. I finally got to wondering if there was more of a problem with the base files I'm using, so then flashed the listed files using odin (which is what I use to "start fresh" before each new rom) and found out that I am still getting random shutdowns!
I really am not sure what to do... do I need to completely blow everything away (as in doing something that will erase everything - music, photos, etc. which normally doesn't happen), unroot, re-root, and take it from there? Am I using old files that are known not to work so well anymore? Any suggestions?
Try fixing permissions in CWM the wipe dalvac and cache. If that doesn't work try factory reset
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
i have done all that you listed... do it every time after i flash a new rom but it still shuts down...
When is the last time you calibrated the battery?
I remember someone else having g this issue and its related to the battery percentage. As if the phone thinks its at dead battery when its not.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
well, i don't do the full calibration i don't think... what i do is: after i flash a new rom, i charge it all the way up, plug and unplug it a few times to make sure it stays at 100%, then (while it is still plugged in) i reboot into recovery and wipe the battery stats. most of the time that's it, i don't let it charge all the way to 0% and then charge all the way back up again.
but i don't think that's the problem because even when the battery says it is still at 50-75% i still have the problem... albeit not as often.
i'm thinking of usin odin to go back to the un-rooted stock and see if that fixes it... from there i can re-root and flash the rom i want.
Let me know if that works, im interested to see if it works! Good luck.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
don't if it will help, but try odening back to jfd. I never odin back to froyo always jfd when I want a fresh start. Try running jfd and see if it still reboots. If so then your phone is defective. Also a while back I remember this happening on simply honey and other gb roms. I forgot what the fix was though.
thanks guys... am in the process of going back to jfd now, sure hope that works! i followed sn15's guide on this and actually reformatted both internal and external card as well to wipe everything. i will keep you all posted if it works...
Could it be a hardware issue? How 'bout on stock, does it still do it? Do you have a case on the phone that it might be pushing the power button down that its causing a forced shutdown? Is the power button getting stuck somehow? Have you tried cleaning the hell out of the contacts (battery & phone) and made sure that the contacts are in fact making a good contact? Luck homie.
Yeah definitely give JFD a shot. Root and reflash. I only really ever use Eugene's JK2 if my partitions get mess up or something. If it's still doing it after that then it could be a hardware issue like someone else said.
just wanted to give an update...
after i flashed JFD my phone was still randomly shutting down some, so i decided to give the battery a shot (as was mentioned above) just to see if that was indeed the issue. i switched batteries from the extended battery i was using back to the stock battery. i reconditioned it in JFD following s15n's advise. i have not had any more issues after this! i believe this worked... thanks for all the advise and help.
Current issue
Odin recognizes phone. I can get to download mode. it turns off. Ive let it set for 24 plus hours prior to this and there is no change. It will stay on for 10 to 15 seconds then turn off.
I have repartitioned, put in a new pit and kernel. it will not stay on long enough to install a new ROM.
leading up to this i had a sleep of death issue. that progressively got worse. It would turn on and be fine tell it went to sleep i could use all the apps if i stopped and it went to sleep i would have to reboot. I had during this point cleared all the cache devlik etc. to no avail. i then decided to flash to stock. I got about 10 seconds into the ROM flash and it turned off. now I'm at the point described above.
This has been w/ and w/o sim and external flash memmory
Thank you for any suggestions and help.
How old is your battery, and what kernels have you experienced this with?
What is a quick recap of what you were running/tried while this SOD problem started occurring, seems related to the DL mode shutting off.
Battery is the orginal, but i have 2 batterys 2 vibes. i switch batteries every month or so due to im more battery heavy then my wife, i have used them both fully charged.
Icy Glitch or subzero, though i think it was Icy. i was running slim ics. this is the only kernel i have ever had a sod problem.
Only extra apps i have installed or had issue with, 1 kindle stopped working on me well b4 any of this happend around 3 weeks or so. i installed adilko. Also installed calorie counter and myfitness pal these are the only 2 that really can be related. I had started using myfp more then the other for cutting.
only run music for during work, eh and for books, no games. i use advanced task killer to kill extra apps, a couple times a day to save on battery,
otherwise phone calls and txting.
Can you boot to recovery mode? If you can, try a factory data reset. You could use adb to push a kernel zip to your internal sd and flash through cwm but only if you can actually boot into recovery mode. If that doesn't work you could try flashing a different kernel through odin. Kernels usually flash in less than 10 seconds in my experience.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk 2
I have already flashed a new kernel and pit.
i cannot get into recovery.
i can get on odin long enough to put a pit and kernal and repartition.
this made no change to my problem.
Have you tried flashing a custom kernel like Semaphore with CWM included and then try booting into CWM?

flashed semaphore. was able toget into cwm for 10 seconds before it shut down on me. now at least for a few seconds i have cwm. wait a sec it kept rebooting into it i cleared dev init.d cache fixed permissions, i was able to mount my usb, still mounted for a few min i think it might be good. ill update, im thinking init.d was the culprit. ill update in 10 min or so to see if i can ge back on my phone.

I was meaning to flash a stock kernel only, then flash back to stock JFD. I'm pretty sure you don't load a pit file when flashing just a kernel but I could be wrong, it has been awhile since I flashed a kernel through odin.

So i have been able to finaly get back to stock yay. its staying on long enough to get there. im flashing it now. and its up. SO If anyone has a Download sod error,
1 turn odin set pit and semaphore.
2 download mode , check for sync
3 install from odin.
4 it will reboot into cwm clear everything.
5 i cleared davlik, cache, init.d, then wiped/factory reset/ then cleared nstools, init.d davlik cache and fixed permisions.
6 odin back to stock.
7 look at the stockness get sick puke in local trash receptor. find some amazing devs goodness of your choice. thank them and all the helpfull people on the xda forums.
thank you all for your help im back to stock no SOD im golden.
