Big Problem. please help! - Folio 100 General

Hi, so today i upgraded my folio to cm7 and was pleased but wanted to go back to foliomod 1.4. and so i did. But here is the problem, i managed to upgrade back to foliomod 1.4, everything worked great until i rebooted. The android which usually shows up(boot animation) didnt, and all i see is a black screen. THIS MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH ME ACCIDENTALLY DELETING THE PHONE APPLICATION USING ROOT UNINSTALLER.
The problem is not there when i use CM7 but with any other rom it seems i have the same problem.
please please please help me.

Try flashing clockwork recovery and format system, data, cache and dalvik cache then flash rom if that dont work you have to use fastboot to erase userdata, system, cache

Dont use the clockwork recovery that comes with CM7 build. You need to flash the one found in this forum. That will work. It seems that they built a special one for Cm7 , guess it has to do with 2.3 android version, just put the zip and flash update and you will have clockwork rec. 3.0.0.5 That will work

it worked!

[Q] Bricked my Galaxy mini. What do i do?

So, what do i do? I have access to the Recovery mode and Download mode and that, but i can't start the phone. it shows a simple white Android text on a black background. This happened when i flashed it and installed Cyanogen. I installed 2.3 before that, and 2.3 worked like a charm. I really need help ASAP, i need the phone tomorrow, i have an important meeting!
I tried to install the 2.3 ROM again, but after it's finished the white text is still there.
It would be nice to get a reply here.

Well, guessing that you use ODIN to flash (install the rom of your device) the rom, then there (also done in CWM Recovery). But I am saying, did you format the device before doing this?

If you're talking about formatting the sd card before flashing... no.
If you're talking about formatting the device data in Recovery before flashing... no
Do you think i should try formatting it first, and then flashing? I'm going to have a go at flashing through Odin and then through Recovery, as i originally did. This time with a format first
someone please help

Yes, I meant formatting the device data while in recovery, before flashing.

stuck boot screen

Hello my friends.
I unlocked the BL and install the CWM. So i try to install a new ROM at my Atrix.
I made the installation of the Neutrino V1.4 GT, but after made the installation of the .zip , my atrix got stuck at the boot screen.
So i made the restore of the backup that I already made, and the smartphone starts ok.
After that i tried install other ROM , CM7-ICS-FINAL and I got the same stuck boot screen.
I found other Thread about that same problem, and the user found a solution but he forgot to post that solution, just wrote ''problem solve''.
Anyone know what can i make to install the ROM ? Thanks for your attention

You are most likely using an outdated CWM (my guess would be Tenfar's). If it doesn't support ext4 then any ROM based on CM7 will not boot. Either use the one that comes with ROM Manager, romracer's, or TWRP.

That would be my guess, the recovery.

Hello my friends..
I made the install of the romracers recovery.. and i installed the ROM ( Neutrino ROM ).
But Now it gets to the boot up screen that says "Neutrino ROM ... system loading" the screen will black out for a couple seconds and then come right back to that screen in a loop. its been happening for about 15 minutes.
obs : I forgot to make the backup
Thanks for the help!
Did you use the recovery for the factory data reset and wipe cache/dalvik cache? You might want to try fastboot wipe as well.

thanks for all the support! I made the again the process with the factory reset and now the ROM is installed correctly.
Let me ask a question. I want to install a new kernel to try the overclock 1.3GHZ. That new kernel can be installed with the romracers ?

Yes, romracer is recommended. It is the only recovery that is specifically developed for the Atrix 4G. You could also try the TRWP Recovery but romracer's recovery is proven to work well and recommended by most.
Glad everything worked out.

If you have it rooted with TWRP or CWM recovery on HBoot 1.4 or below:
1. Go into the Bootloader by holding down the Power Button + Volume Down Keys simultaneously
2. Go to your recovery and wipe your Cache, Dalvlich cache, Data, and System (feel free to explore your recovery if you can't find the wipe for System, I mean you already f'k up if your on TWRP its under wipe on 2.0 or advanced under the regular I believe)
3. Download a ROM on your computer
4. In the recovery, mount your SDCard to your computer / Mount Storage / Mount USB Storage
5. Put the ROM on the SD Card
6. Flash and clear Data and Caches
7. Reboot System / Reboot phone

No problem!
Once in awhile you should clear out your caches because they can get packed up and cause things to get "buggy".
Next time, download the ROM on your computer and use the Recovery to transfer it on to your device.
Downloading ROMs on your phone can make them corrupt.
Oh and if you like having a smooth experience and don't install very many apps, Wipe all of those partitions again whenever you flash a new ROM.
P.S. Always clear Caches when updating or flashing new ROMs!
I flipping love all you guys who helped truly i cant even express my thanks

For flashing without needing a PC flash image gui is the bees knees, used it on my 3D faithfully since don't own a PC, all you need to do is extract the boot.img (most roms and kernels have them posted since this is now a common issue) flash it through the GUI.apk, go to recovery, wipe, flash & proceed

can you give a quick explanation how you flash the kernel separately and how you go about wiping the partition before installing cm10
Extract the boot image from the rom zip, drop in in your adb folder and restart phone in boot loader. Open the terminal and navigate to the folder and type fastboot flash boot boot.img, then open twrp recovery. Go to wipe and wipe Dalvik, Cache, Factory reset, and wipe system. Install cm10 and again clear dalvik and cache then reboot

Boot partition is locked in recovery which is why you have to fastboot kernel, besides that you aren't wiping the boot, you are wiping system

Flashed TWRP and Rooted....

Hi Guys,
I've been flashing for a few years (Desire HD, Sensation XE, One X) and now I have a One X+
I've been treading water carefully and I've managed unlock the bootloader, flash TWRP and rooted the device (via TWRP)
I did all this the manual way as I'm skeptical of the all in one (I'm old fashioned like that)
However I have some questions:good:
1. Does having TWRP, the bootloader unlocked affect my ability to receive OWA updates? (I'm still running stock ROM)
2. All that's left now is to do a backup, get a ROM , copy the ROM over, go into recovery, flash the boot.img, wipe the phone then flash the new ROM?
Cheers guys
If you are old fashioned, then why do you go for TWRP not the CWM?
1. This should not affect the ability for the OTA, but I'm not 100% sure.
2. Yes, you do a backup, flash the boot.img, wipe the phone and flash the new rom. Or first you can wipe and install ROM, then reboot in to bootloader and flash boot.img. You can do both ways in TWRP, does not matter. But to not reboot in to rom before you flash both.

Why should he go for an untested, unreliable, unsupported and outdated recovery?
TWRP was again updated couple days ago, I strongly suggest to stick with the TWRP recovery.
I don't know... if he is as he call himself "old fashioned" - CMW if far older recovery, that TWRP. I don't know about the updates, may be there is nothing to update, so they stopped? And TWRP still has some bugs, so everyone waiting for updates. I don't know... all about old fashioned, that was my point.

I went with TWRP because it seems it's the more popular choice, I didn't vouch for the all in one tool kit because I like to do this the manual way.
Currently got a stock ROM, with ROOT + TWRP. I haven't flahsed yet due to the number of issues I see appearing on this forum with so called 'bricked' devices, there was never this many for the desire hd/sensation/One x.
I'm pretty sure the way to flash from this point would be
1. Download ROM and place it on the phone
2. Take a backup via recovery
3. Flash boot.img
4. Wipe phone
5. Install ROM
6 Reboot
Does this sound correct?
just remember NEVER wipe "internal storage" or "format data" within recovery

This is assuredly in direct relation with the majority of those cases.
People want to root and customize with a Swiss knife tool and I can assure you that something is wrong to do it with this tool. If you read all the so called "bricked my..." threads, they all were using this all in one tool, then something wen't wrong and they can't figure out what could be the cause simply because they haven't read, they don't know the basics of those procedures or they don't have any king of prerequisite installed in their computer. The tool is supposedly "doing all for them". Except debugging the procedure when everything goes bad.
It is so simple and rewarding to do all this -the old fashioned way- also if something suddenly goes bonk, it's so easy to know exactly where the procedure is failing.
----
As for your procedure it is all good, in Recovery when you have a backup of your actual ROM, in the Wipe menu select Factory Reset, then after select System. You're all good to flash your new ROM after that.
Don't forget to : fastboot erase cache after your boot.img flashing.
Have fun!

I've got to the point now where I've got CM10 on the phone (not installed) and I've got the boot.img in the same folder as the fastboot.
If memory servers me correctly:
I should boot into recovery
hit fastboot
flash the boot.img via command line
go into recovery
factory reset/wipe cache
install ROM
reboot
Apologies if I'm being very tentative, I'm just making sure. I have done a backup while in TWRP (If the flash goes wrong can I simply restore from recovery using that backup?)
I'm into two minds to do this, I miss installing custom ROM's but I don't want to ruin the phone. If only there was a video tutorial !!!!!
You should have all you need in this tutorial watch the last section of it.
