Is it possible? I have a friend who has a U5i and I don't know what got into SE's mind but they put S60 on there. It sucks. Is there anyway to put Android onto it? It's in the same series as the mini pro right? it's all U-something.

yes its vivaz, well its possible, but its very hard to do, you have to understand symbian system
Wrong branch =\ it's x8 topics

Isn't there a way to like format the system and throw a whole new one on? I suppose there's something like recovery on Symbian too right?

Like people have said its not that easy, as vivaz is not android platform its not just as simple as flashing an android Rom, drivers would have to be made, the boot sequence in vivaz would have to be heavily modified, its impractical to do this. The only other way would be to make an emulator for symbian like they did for windows mobile, even then unless the device is high specs the lag is crazy.

no, its not that simple. well, i already see a Linux phone such as Motorola A1200, it can be upgraded to Android, but its because that phone is using linux, and basically, Android is linux modification. Even though its like that, also its not simple to put Android to linux phone, as you have to make the driver for that device to work on android, then changing the boot sequence. Its the same to vivaz, the modification is very hard, cause you have to change the boot sequence, not as easy as installing linux after you install a windows on a PC.
Did anything change till day ? =)
I would like to have android on my u5i =)

Yes it works! But sometimes you might get an error saying installation failure, all you need to do in unmount your SD card from android settings, install the application, and mount SD card again, as easy as that!
thanx for allanswers
u convinced me so im gonna try
Hey, I am n00b and a owner of Tmobile USA HD2. I would like to install android too, let me know what exact steps u will take . there are so many roms out there, i might as well follow some one.
Is it possible to make a cyanogen mod rom look like the sony ericsson original rom???
Yes, it's possible. But it is the hard work. Would you do it?
i'm not a developer so i can't do it!
it's a good idea though!
why should someone want to do that? if they like SE then they should stick to SE
I like that beacause i want froyo with sony ericsson original style!!!
+1 for the idea. I also wanna use a newer ROM with the same SE style.
Hmmm... satya164, I agree with you

I tried to replace the framework-res.apk, but my phone stuck on the boot animation!
The filenames are not all the same in framework, but with some renaming the original SE files according to cyanogen ones should work.
I have returned to original SE ROM because the cyonagen is soo ugly, stock android is bad for our small screens. The most visible is at top bar where on SE everithing is big and clear (hour, batery stat, wi-fi and other simbols) and on cyonagen bareley you could see something.
Until now I replaced the small and blurry font with Sony fonts. Maybe when 2.3.3 finaly will be bugfree and fully functional I will work on this.
My experience is with cyonagen 7 (2.3.3)

Guys stop speculating or giving out wrong info...
Try swapping images in the framework-res.apk and not the framework-res.apk
Well it is possible to change framework-res.apk but you willcertainly need to swap a ****load of stuff.
Pushing framwork.jarm android-testrunner alot of libs.
In the end the question is will you lose the changes from the newer version an in the end endup with the same old crap again

if so, can you point me to a download link for the fonts?

is there any ready profile for flashtool for xperia mini(ST15i)?
or a guide how to create one?
You mean ripped firmwares for your phone? You'll probably find one in the developers section, in one of the 'root' threads.
Also I think you can make one yourself, the SEUS stores the firmware on your computer temporarily so you could pull it from there. But I am not sure if you need to do anything special to it before it works with the flasher.
i dont mean ripped firmwares. i allready have!! i mean profile so the flashtool recognize the phone!
why do u need the profile for xperia mini? i also have xperia mini, didn't we can flash it with the phone profile?
To get it to recognize the phone all you need to do is install the drivers. I think it's called gorden's gate or something.

Hello dear members of XDA-developers!
This is my first post, so please don't kill me. I've tried to find the answer to my question, but I guess it's too simple, since I believe nobody ever asked this.
So, I've just finished the first tutorial about developing on the android website (can't post outside links yet, but I'm pretty sure you all know it haha) and I would like to get it working on my Galaxy Nexus, but sadly I don't know how . (I honestly have no idea what version, but I'm in the Netherlands and that's where i bought it. It's running 4.1.1)
Could you guys help me out?
I know this question must've been answered before, but I can't find it.
Yes I am aware of the fact that I am a complete and utter noob and should be killed for my lack of knowledge or pro-ness in android developing.
Anyways if you read this you've made it through all of my question, so thanks for reading ^^

Assuming you are using eclipse connect your phone to your computer via usb cable. Now click the run program button and it should be sent to your device. If you have an emulator running at the same time eclipse should ask you what what device to send it to.

Thanks for the quick response man, didn't think anyone way going to asnwer this lol.
That's right, I am using eclipse and i already tried what you suggested, but the problem is that eclipse can't find my nexus..
you think it might have anything to do with the fact that im programming for 4.1.2 and my Nexus currently runs 4.1.1?
That would be weird though, since i should have compatability all the way back to 2.3.3.
Otherwise I'd need to try and get my Nexus to run 4.1.2, but I don't think it supports it, right?
once again thanks for the response.

When I started building my first app, I built the "Hello Android" example using eclipse, to run on the emulator on my Windows PC.
When that worked, I found the built .apk file on my PC, and copied it to my DroidX, and sideloaded it, and it ran fine on the DroidX.

EDIT:
Yeah, getting it installed on my phone was easy now, but when I start the app, it only says: "Unfortunately, MyFirstApp has stopped", but that's probably a problem within the app itself I think.
Thanks again for helping me out (well sortof anyways )

To fix it run
Code:
adb logcat
You can see what went wrong
Enviado desde mi XT912
Correct me if I'm wrong. But I don't think simply copying the apk into phone and installing work, because I guess the apk needs to be signed. But when you launch from Eclipse it need not have to, and will install straight away into your phone.
First you should make sure ADB detects your device.
Run this command in cmd -> C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools\adb devices
Assuming you've installed android-sdk in C drive, turned on Android Debugging in phone. If it displays your device, then you are good to go and run your project from Eclipse.

You can't get true vanilla without a bootloader unlock, but you can use titanium backup to delete the Sony bloat. That's what I did on my Tablet S, and it also happens to be muuuuuch less laggy. As for the rest of the UI, I know there is an app to change the soft keys (I have never tried it), but for the settings app and the rest of the system there isn't much you can do

I can't confirm that all of it is safe to remove, i just left all the small app stuff, appinstaller.apk, dtcpctrl.apk, all the playstation games (xtab doesn't have these I don't think), mediaplayers.apk, SENinstaller.apk, SENmediator.apk, the ir remote stuff, and the media remote app (You can get rid of this, I just left it because I have a Sony blu-ray player). You can remove any socialife plugins, anything related to socialife, registration app, etc. I also run Nova Launcher to give it that AOSP look, but I haven't checked to see if any of this hampers the stock launcher. Remember to install the recovery backdoor so you can reinstall 4.1.1 if something goes wrong. I did have an issue where titanium backup didn't remove some of the apps, so I had to use a file explorer to delete that crap in /datapp/vendor/vendor0/app/ and /datapp/vendor/vendor1/app/. You might have a slightly different file system because you have a XTS on 4.1.1 and I have an STS on 4.0.3, so be careful

Make sure you use All In One tool and install rescue back-door and then disable update notifications. This will lower the incremental so if you **** your tablet then you can easily install JB again.

No worries. All updates for Sony Tablet S and Xperia Tablet S are done through the Tablet itself. Rescue Back-Door simply changes vendor.prop located in the /vendor folder. It changes the line. ro.update.incremental (or something like that) to before HoneyComb and that is why we refer to it as lowered incremental. If you look at the file name after -ota etc the number is as follows 130516001.zip 13(year) 05(month) 16(day) 001(version), that is the incremental. This is what Sony's recovery looks at when trying to install a zip. So if you have JB installed and do not use back door you CAN NOT flash anything. Whereas you have back door installed you CAN install any zip for your region. i.e R3 > R6, R6A, R6B, JB for Xperia S
