Hello
I have AT&T version of Atrix (ordered unlocked from ebay) and I don't have AT&T sim card. Phone is rooted and running 4.1.57.
My operator uses internet.saunalahti as an APN and nothing else works.
I see that AT&T has done some checks that one cannot create mobile hotspot without tether plan. But my operator has no restrictions on tethering, mobile hotspot does not start and complains that I need the plan from AT&T.
Is there any way to modify that mobile hotspot so it does not check anything when started? Can I adb pull hotspot files, edit and push back?
Is there any other application, that provides this? I tried android-wifi-tether from code.google.com but it crashes when I try to use it.
Another thing is 3G/EDGE/GPRS. I have played a little with ZTE Blade with android 2.1, it was possible to adjust wether to use 3G or sometimes only EDGE/GPRS, but I cannot find any settings regarding that from the Atrix. Is this some kind of AT&T thing, that user is not able to select lower than 3G or Android 2.2 feature?
Otherwise nice phone, these operator customizations are not nice when using with other SIM.
Edit: With older firmware 4.1.26 this worked, if I remember correctly it did check but it passed.
I tried to add APN Type : default, tether, internet, supl, mms
but this 3G to stop working, I have to find out what are needed for my operator.
I was told if you add "tether" to the APN type field so it would look like:
APN Type : default,tether,internet,supl,mms
Of course yours might not have so many options
I have kind of a similar problem here too…I got my Motorola Atrix 4G (unlocked) from a dealer. I rooted my phone by using the “Super One Click v1.7” and has setup everything as according to my operator requirements as well as set the “APN Type: default, tether, internet, supl, mms”…
However, it just won’t work after selected the WiFi hotspot check-box. I just notice a message shows “Setting up data link” and it never goes off there! (P/S: I have to switch-off/on my phone in order to disable this “Setting up data link”). I then Google and managed to find the “Android-WiFi-Tether” APK which required a “root” device BUT after received the “systems updates”…everything gone…I lost my “rooting” capability…
I just read from a source that this latest update will patch the exploit “psneuter”…Is there any others alternative solution to “root” it again? Herewith my phone details: - (after system updates)
(i) System version: 4.1.57.MB860.ATT.en.US
(ii) Android version: 2.2.1
(iii) Baseband version: N_01.77.07P
(iv) Motorola webtop version: OSHWT_U1_4.257.19
(v) Kernal version: [email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT Tue Mar 1 09:17:07 PST 2011
(vi) Build number: OLYFR_U4_1.5.7
Hope to hear some good news…Thanks.

I recently installed AOSP 2.3.5 on my vibrant and well APN settings are setup fine automatically. However when I look at the carrier name it only shows numbers like 302320 I know that is Mobilicity network but it doesn't show the name.
I was reading somewhere to create a spn-conf.xml file and push it to system/etc/ however when I do that and reboot it still says the same numbers. I am in Canada and would like to have them display properly how would I go about this as all the networks I search for seem to be numbers except for Rogers Wireless,
Thanks for any help. I have adb setup in a linux environment and know how to use it so thanks again.
custom rom or stock? i think there was problem with rom.

CyanogenMod 7.1 is doing this for me too. Did you find a fix that works?
I too have this happen when I have tried MiUI and Cyanogenmod. I would be interested in a fix as well.
I don't suppouse there has been a resolution this yet?
I have a Samsung Galaxy 2 running CM 7.1.
I have this problem too. Edit spn-conf.xml, apns-conf.xml, optable.db but still no luck.
Anyone pls help.

Carrier name on CM9 June 15th nightly on GT-i9100
I noticed initially that I saw only the carrier number on my GT-i9100 running the June 15th, 2012 nightly of CM9. However, after a period of time, the carrier Name (Bell here in Canada) did show up, so perhaps for those on CM7, maybe this is fixed in the latest CM9 builds?
Hi,
I am new to this forum, I am having a problem in my mobile Bluetooth receiving mechanism for which I need your expert opinions.
The problem is that when someone (either through PC / mobile) send multiple files through Bluetooth to my mobile I have to accept each number of files separately by going again and again in the notification area and after clicking the file and click 'accept'. In short if someone send me 5 files I have to go to the notifications 5 times and have to click accept 5 times as well.
I want to know is this the standard feature or I have some problem in my set? I am not using any apps for this purpose just using the standard feature of the set.
Kindly help me in this regards.
Following are the details of my Android Set:
Set Name : Star A5000 Android 2.2 Dual Sim
Model Number: e1000_pxht2 2010/11/16 11:8:23
Android Version: 2.2.1
Baseband Version: MAUI.10A.W10.48. 2010/11/29 22.57
KERNEL VERSION: 2.6.32.9

Build Number: ALPS.10Y.W10.48 p27.MP.VO
thats just how Bluetooth file transfer works bro. You could zip up the files and just unzip it when you receive them.
I have checked the same feature on another Samsung android phone and the phone receive continuously all the files without separately accepting the files in notification area.
yeah well Samsung is crap anyway so don't be mad you don't have a Samsung its just the Bluetooth that ya got and the company that made your os hasn't enabled all the bells and whistles its probably a dated most general version available. Nothing you can do other than check out the different apps if there are any availble. Or archive the files and unzip them so you only have to do it once. I don't know much about the device you have but not everything is capable of doing 100 things at once. Patience my friend patience.
If anyone know please answer the question.....
Question: are those sending devices already paired with your phones ?
Try 1: Mark the sending device as "trusted" after you pair (might depend on your device how to do it in the bluetooth settings), this way no further notice will appear in accepting the files that you are getting from the other phone or pc.
Try 2: Use a 'folder browsing' (not 'object push') profile for transfering files.
Take a look at this neat program to handle bluetooth connection from your PC, I find it really useful (free & lightweight & works)

I wanted to start this post to see if anyone was familiar with the Alps E120L specifically, or at least has any knowledge of rom making for any china phone with MT65xx processor.
I would like to be able to fix a few quirks with the phone I have and see if I can develop a rom.
The help I need, which I feel is encountered the most often and not always answered on the forum are:
1. My china phone is rooted, but the bootloader is locked. How do I unlock it?
2. I can pull the framework-res.apk off my phone, decompile and edit it using any of the apk tools, but I get errors recompiling it every single time. what is the problem here? By the way, I was able to successfully pull the same framework file off of my samsung galaxy tab, edit it, and recompile it with no problems so it is not a problem with me!
3. How do I get the gps on my phone to work without A-GPS? What files are responsible for the GPS to function?
The reason I need to know this is because my GPS doesnt work and I dont know if its because I dont have A-GPS enabled because I dont have a data service. Personally I think either GPS files are missing or they are not programmed correctly. I have edited the gps.config file and no success.
4. How do I get mms settings setup for t-mobile without data plan? I could send picture messages via edge with an old phone but now my new android ics phone does not allow it to be sent. I have tried pulling settings from t-mobile, but to no avail. Again, i dont nor did I ever have a data plan. I dont know if my phone just doesnt support edge or requires an internet connection or t-mobile is blocking the service? My APN settings do not allow for me to select edge as an option, either LTE or eHRPD as a Bearer?
If anyone is willing to help I thank you in advance. Im sure other people have similar questions. I will keep searching the forums for more information as well.
Hi, I'm having troubles with rooting my GooApple V5+.
I've tried multiple ways like "SuperOneClick v2.3.3.0", "AnexonelChineseRootRec(3gand2g)" and "MTKdroidTools 2.3" but it never succeeds on rooting. And I also installed Android SDK and did the 2.3.3 update. At the bottom of the post I typed all the info I can get of my phone.

Process:
1. Install Android-SDK , Update to 2.3.3.
2. Copy the files in SuperOneClick v2.3.3 to the android-sdk folder.
3. Check USB debugging, Stay awake, Allow mock locations and Unknown sources
4. Unmount SD Card
5. Connect the phone to my PC with USB
6. Start SuperOneClick v2.3.3.0 as Administrator and click on Root.
5. When it freezes at step 7, I unplugged the USB cable and plugged it back in and it says END.

By the way, does anyone has a ROM for this phone or the original files on the SD card? I accidently removed them by finding out how to root this...
Thanks !
Just tried z4root and doesn't work either. It says
Sorry!
The application z4root (process com.z4mod. z4 root ) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Getting desperate here !

At least I'm not alone with this
Hi!
I'm waiting for the V5+. It will arrive in about 20 days and have been investigating the rooting problem.
It's quite frustrating to read that everything I had in my list have already been tried by you unsuccessfully
I will continue reading in forums, but my question is if no matter I do with it I can restore factory settings pressing inside the 3.5mm audio jack?
Thanks a lot for your comments, I hope this issue will be fixed soon.
Hey Q, the ROOTING of this phone finally works, but I should improve my tutorial a bit as some didn't understand it and that day I was pretty euphoric.
You can also improve internal storage but I think the phone boots a bit slow then & works a bit slow too + lot's of apps just close out of nothing.
Another thing I'm trying to figure out is getting GPS to work. Maybe I should wait about 10-20 min untill I have a GPS signal I don't know but I'll see into that.
I'm just waiting now untill I recieve a second GooApple V5+ so I can backup that phone and restore it on mine as I want to have it stock and start all over again.
Thanks for replying,
That's great that you found a way to root V5+.
Your tutorial will be very interesting indeed.
About GPS I planned to install iGO Nav&Go for Android.
I have no idea about the GPS chip of the phone, but if it is SIRF maybe can change protocol from NMEA to SIRF improving dramatically speed.
I did it in my ASUS P535 Wmobile and perhaps can find for Android
for instance SirfTech+2.22
But I'm beginner in Android, V5+ will be my first ...
No problem man.
I've got Sygic atm but I just can't get a GPS signal, even for 20 minutes :/
Now I'm hoping someone else finds out why this is happening as I would like to use Sygic Offline in my car (if its possible).
& Yeah this is my first Android too & liking it !
Regarding GPS malfunction, I found in some chineese web, information pointing an interference problem concerning Gooapple V5 GPS receiver and Wi-Fi (BT perhaps too).
Maybe you can see satellite signals with all systems disconnected (phone, WiFi and BT)

WiFi works ok but you have to get pretty close to the router to get internet.
BT works fine for me
But GPS is a pain, I've tried copying a new gps.conf to /system/etc but no help
I tried GPS Status & Toolbox to reset & download AGPS, no help either...
I also tried a new ROM but no help either :/
Just want to give back the favor, Because of XDA developers i was able to UNLOCK & ROOT my AT&T HOX+
I'm Posting here how i was able to ENABLE MOBILE TETHERING using AT&T stock ROM ( did not change anything, still using original rom)
My HOX+ software info:
Android Version: 4.1.1
HTC Sense Version: 4+
Software Number : 1.19.502.1 710RD
HTC SDK API LEVEL: 4.63
Kernel Version: 3.1.10
Your AT&T HOX+ should be:
1. Unlock ( network unlock)
2. Rooted
3. Apps : SQLITE EDITOR ( this is paid apps)
Here' how i was able to MOBILE Tether using T-MOBILE Network ( able to save money by switching from at&t, no contract)
1. I setup the TMOBILE APN {settings/ Mobile Data/ Access Point Names}
2. Then open SQ LITE EDITOR
3. Go to APPS Tab
4. Look for DIALER STORAGE \ carriers
5. Now look for your TMOBILE APN ( normally its on the bottom of the list)
6. Make sure to copy the NUMERIC & MCC & MNC
7. Then scroll up look for line " ENTITLEMENT" ( PICK ONE)
8. Edit the NUMERIC & MCC & MNC to match T-MOBILE APN ( dont touch the rest of the column)
9. Hit exit or BACK, it will save what you did.
10. See screen shot #1 how it looks like
11. Turn on Mobile Tether ( should have a good network signal, i notice if there are none it stop to tether) I'm using HTC BUILD IN mobile tether no other 3rd party apps needed to do this.
12. See picture # 2 , showing you proof it tether using T-Mobile network
Optional Procedure ( you dont have to do this): To force TETHER your phone by altering HOTSPOT ON from value 0 to 1 (SQ lite editor: Setting Storage\system\ ). Then restart the phone, it will automatically activate MOBILE Tether. See picture #3
DISCLAIMER: I did everything above, and it mobile tether my phone without any hardware effect. I'm still using AT&T STOCK without flashing any ROM. The only thing i did was to modify the ENTITLEMENT area of the phone. I wont be responsible if you do anything and your phone got brick, you know thats always the risk in modifying any phone.
It Works!!!
Hi,
Thank you for the info. I've tried it and tested it, and I can confirm that it works.
It needed 2 tries for me though, had to restart. Probably due to the value stored in cache.
It's works for Brazilian Carrier Vivo!
Hi all,
Thank you for the info. I've tried it and tested it, and I can confirm that it works.
In from Brazil and changed the T-Mobile data for Vivo (BR Carrier) and it's is working, I was trying to solve this issue and now I'm very happy.
My HONX+ is an AT&T rooted.
