On spare parts battery usage, I see 1013 and 0 as the top network usages with almost full bars
What are they?

Wonder if anybody has a similar problem.
I use my XDA for work, guessing a lot of people do that, doh! And I work in a warehouse/ outside in UK.
Anyway here goes. By cold temperatures, I mean British weather! Which is in the positive Celcius range, so not that cold..
Last night it happened again. I was out in a field near Hull, working! I made a phone call, then the battery light goes red, 10% battery. In a field how do I charge it!! Simple, stick it in my pocket to warm it up. Within minutes the XDA has 60% again!!
Please any tips or similar experiences. I know that the summer is coming so things look up. But what happens when Autumn comes around again, well my contract is up, so a new phone I do believe!!!! And the XDA will just be a pocket PC, to keep in doors in the warmth.... Maybe a sony...

Cold and batteries
From: http://www.argreenhouse.com/papers/tony2/ECS00_Bond_Untr.pdf:
Tests of low-temperature discharge rate capability of various commercial Li-ion batteries showed that on average only ca. 30 % of battery capacity can be obtained at a C/2 rate at a temperature of -20 Celsius, and less than 10 % at 1C. Batteries described in this work exhibited higher capacity at C/2 at -20 Celsius (Fig. 10) than most of the recent commercially available Li-ion batteries tested. The discharge rate capability of these samples was a strong function of temperature; at a 2C rate, the capacity utilization decreased from ca. 90 % at 21 Celsius to 24 % at 0 Celsius and less than 2 % at -20 Celsius. In the above example, the C/2 capacity was 99, 95 and 37 % at 21, 0 and -20 Celsius, respectively.

(A discharge rate of 1C means "as many Amps as there are AmpHrs in the battery, i.e. theoretically discharging the battery in exactly one hour.)
Polar equipment often has separate battery holders: device out in the open where fingers can touch it, batteries inside insulated clothing with warm human. Tummy or inside of upper leg are warmest...
Thank you
That answers the question then.
Their developing better batteries....
Anybody else have similar experiences though...

Get yourself a battery pack - runs off 4 AA's. (Search ebay under xda). Absolutely invaluable for traveling.

I've noticed a wide difference in battery operating temperatures between different manufacturers. One battery consistently runs at 25 degrees C while another one runs at 38 to 40 degrees C. I'm worried that while using the higher temperature battery that I'm damaging my phone. Should I discontinue using the higher temperature battery?

I find anything over 35C to be uncomfortable, but is that temp what the battery rated for or actually produces? It was my understanding that that was the temp it could safely withstand.

I can tell you from experience that HTC phones will shut themselves off before they can damage the phone or the battery. The battery has a much lower temperature range of operation than just about anything else. IC are virtually untouched by heat below 90c. At that point, the mode of failure tends to be a degradation in the doped silicon that the transistors are made off, and it usually happens over time, not instantaneously.
Thank you!
Thank you for your very informative reply!
is there an accurate battery monitoring app that works on the motorola atrix for mA amounts while the battery drains? and the reason I ask if there is one that is accurate, because I have tried using currentwidget, its shows no data for mA, but displays % and the mV. I am in the process of trying battery monitor widget now, but after going on almost to the end of 2 days, I don't believe it's actually accurate. While my phone is not being used and screen off it's lowest standby reading was draining between 15-22mA, losing about 1% of battery every 30mins or so according to the history readout.
im running cm7 beta, faux .2.0 1.3 kernel, radio n_01.77.30p, it's an unlocked motorola atrix from bell that im using on rogers. tegrapart d00
Nothing will give you an "accurate" mA reading unless you can tell the actual mAh capacity of YOUR battery rather than what the battery is rated at. Any app that reports mA is going to be calculating it according to the mAh you say the battery is (again, already inaccurate) and how quickly the battery level percentage is dropping. There is no mA reading that it can just report, its just guessing from given data.
For Battery Monitor Widget though, 15-22mA on standby is weird, I've used that app for months and it has always said 5mA discharge for standby situations. Did you tell the app your battery's mAh rating or is it still whatever the default value is?
its still default i guess, i went to calibration tab, the total max and min are empty
the other fields below say
max: 4205mV min: 3164mV
stored: 1880maH total: 1880maH
measured: pro version only...(that one is obvious...lol)
Your battery should be rated 1930maH unless you are using a non stock battery.

mV != mAh
mV measurement used in the BatteryCalibration app doesn't show your battery capacity. It can only be used as a reference point to when your battery is at 100%. (for 100% it should be around 4200mV).
what is your s6 edge temperature?
my s6 edge 27 c without any open app
if im using default web browser for 30 minutes it can go up to 34
this is normal?
sorry for my english
thanks
the HTC m8 was getting sometimes 60-90 ..so I say..yes it's normal

Honestly I don't think it's normal. I have the exact same issue where my idle/sleep temp sits anywhere between 27 and 32 degrees. Doing some light tasks causes it to shoot up. Sometimes as high as 38 degrees (100 fahrenheit). At that point it just gets too hot to comfortably hold.
I've tried doing a factory reset, but that didn't solve anything for me. Not really sure what else is left to do. That's why I'm going to give my provider a call tomorrow and see if I can get it replaced.

my wife tried 4 s6 edge in 2 different store and they all idle at 27 or 28
How are you measuring the temperature? Mine gets hot as hell. According to CPU-Z the processors sometimes gets to 80 degrees Celsius ~ 176 Fahrenheit. The battery usually settle at 34 degrees Celsius while on heavy usage, but overall the phone gets really hot, sometimes uncomfortably so, but I never had any issues regardless, so I think that's normal.

no I mean Celsius...around 85 is the value HTC set throttle down the CPU to not overhead..around 30 is OK on the S6
and it's normal..and my phone not feels warm..it's really really OK..

I have used GSam in the past, it shows the same temp as CPU-Z uses for the battery. Life I said, it can easily get to 34 degrees, right now, for example, just from browsing XDA it is registering 33 degrees.
I guess this is the normal operation temperature. Unless you notice something odd happening, don't worry about it.

My phone heats up to 44 C
What is the Warning Level is it safe till 45 or 50 Celsius ?
It happens when
1) On use of Google Maps while driving
2) Charging
3) When i use Sandisk OTG, to the extent that it freezes & the Transfer stops
4) Even if i Record Videos sometimes
5) While wireless charging
This is really bad Never had such a Issue
Mine heats up under the following conditions:
Google Maps
Using WiFi analyzers
Fast charging
Weak Cell Phone Coverage
Heavy Web Browsing 5+ tabs open
Hello, I'm bothered by my battery temperature, because it's 39°C and this seems high to me.
What is your battery temperature and what is considered normal?

What is normal depends on what you are doing. What are you doing on the phone when it reaches 39 deg?
if you live in hot climate its around 35 celsius with normal use and up to 42 with heavy gaming.....thats the battery temperature not the cpu ofcourse.
