Hi i dont own an espresso but trying to port it to hero i think ive made you a rom.

I dont think it hurts to have more than one person building the same rom?I'm not asking for donations or anything either, I just like to share...Annoyingly i can build roms for a device i dont have and cant for my hero :'(

Never said it hurt - just making a comment in regards to this ROM in the event that people wonder what makes mine so non-official (answer: not much).
Ah cool i was worried i was stepping on peoples toes lol, i only really did this to make it a little easier to try and port to hero.Glad it actually works! may have to look into purchasing a mytough 3g unless anyone has one thats been reported lost (i.e no signal) that i can just use to dev XD are they GSM or only CDMA?
They're GSM only. Since it's exclusive to T-Mo. Also the guts are apparently identical to the Legend minus the keyboard.

the rom boots fine and works but once i flash the kernal the rom no longer boots

This is unnecessary, just go to CR_Mod or NB_Mod, delete the bloatware and flash. Flash app2sd as well and you got amazing ROM. I am moving back to official froyo and surprisingly, it's great. Not flashy but stable.

What bloatware can be safely deleted? I was under the impression that touching any of the sense stuff could render the whole device unstable.
I want to try this cuz its on .15 not .13 like NB (NBMod its awesome ROM,Dayly driver! )

Just simply delete any soft that you can install from market, other than that, mytouch music, T-Mobile stuffs...You can save like 20MB. However, if you already partitioned your sdcard and flash app2sd, then you can leave them there. Everything is on SDcard and you have 120Mb on internal storage.

Yeah haha sorry for the confusion..
The camera and Bluetooth audio are screwed but since I didn't use them I created EnergyExpressoXDA, its a couple pages back. Tazz& Tenzo deserve most of the credit I just added my preferred tweak and espresso look and shared it.
I doubt those issues will be resolved by us. Those 2 have their hands full, now there is GB and I'm using an incredible for daily use although I haven't left the community so if it gets done I'll happily redo the user experience mods.

It's worth a shot, but in my experience the camera will most likely never work. Froyolicious was a myTouch 2.2 port, so you can look at that thread and get an idea of how to start. Maybe someone other than me can figure it out.

I tried porting it but i kept getting some update script errors. personally i wouldnt care if the camera worked or not, but it doesnt appear that i know how to even port it

Nah guys its some symlink su error. I would tell you the exact error but my eris broke and i had to order a new one :/
I loved ZenEXP-Eris but couldn't live with it's shortcomings. I would love an android 2.2 rom with htc espresso that just works. Looks like I'll have to make it myself. Any advice is appreciated. Like where to start. I need a kitchen?

Looks like you flash a D2 ROM, and then flash it with another "patcher" that makes it work on your D2G. Sensors do not appear to be working properly, so those do NOT work.

This is great! Now our d2g's have more roms to choose from, and it should make it a lot easier for devs to port their roms over

Get R DONE team said : I flashed a rom that would not let me boot back into Clockwork recovery (gummyjar). As of now, I don't know how/why that would happen so be careful, and do not do this unless you are comfortable using the SBF released by TBH.
As far as I know, Liberty was based in gummayjar. Could you check if your phone can boot back to Clockwork recovery?
I did, I only flashed it to see if it would work and after that I booted in recovery mode and restored a backup I had made. Just make sure you have droid 2 bootstrap

As far as I know, the themes should work.
Liberty toolbox, however, is smart enough to know that you aren't really a D2 and wont let you download the themes, you have to manually download and flash them.
Liberty toolbox let me download themes and flash them just fine...

You know what... if the light senors worked perfectly, this would be the best rom I ever ran. (Liberty.) It loaded on with NO issues. Only problem is no auto brightness (means no backlight in hard buttons) and some ignoring of screen orientation, but I can live with that. I suppose it wouldn't be nearly as tolerant of being on a D2G without the sensor zip, with the sleep/wake issues. But yeah, not bad for patching. Not bad at all.

But they say only D2 and DX. Did you flash D2 ROM on your D2G? Also, how does Liberty perform as compared to FIssion?
liberty is flippin awesome! they have an updated version of their tool so the keyboard lights work. the proximity sensor doesn't though. so when you're talking on the phone, the screen doesn't shut off. other than that, its great.
Yeah see, now with v7, I put Liberty back and use it, because I can see what I'm doing at night. If they'd either find a sensor fix, or Liberty releases 2.0 for D2G (Hint: 3 digit donation if they do) we're golden.

Here's my attempt of porting Sense 3.5 from Pico. I used Pico Hero rom from HeroGSM as a reference for porting... This is a basic port, as I really don't have time due to numerous exams and a uncooperative slide (the trackpad now refuses to work at all :|).
Without further ado, here's a list of what (doesn't) work:

very laggy.
If there's anything else, tell me.

Anyways. Tell me how this goes, and if anyone has suggestions on how to improve this rom, PM/post on this thread. This rom needs ALOT of work.

found out why it didnt boot... my cache space was filling up way to fast... so i lowered my system space to 175 and increased cache to 120

Try it out. I overclocked daniels release and it ran pretty smooth. Apart from the major bug of no audio during calls I would have kept it as my daily.

well,you can be sure that in closed future you'll be able to unlock your bootloader but till that promotion you can simply root your device,install rom manager,flash clockworkmod recovery.

That sux man, I got my mopho off cowboom last week and it came with 2.3.4. If its ang consolation I tried cm9 but it wasnt polished to my liking as of yet (no chrome or opera browser and multitouch games sucked)
Pretty much only thing an unlocked bootloader will allow you is custom kernels and I personally love the stock 2.3.5 kernel

still i would like it that my phone is capable of doing that stuff although if i dont use it...just makes me happy
you might want to look into using PROMS to get your modding fix until we find a way around the fuse issue. i believe proms are themed roms that run over stock.

As I am newbie here, I cannot post to dev section, so I am posting this thread to let people know the latest cm10 (jorker rom) is working great, aroma instillation integrated into one step now, so much faster, easier to install.

All the CM10 level ROMs are making the photon an oven.
Stock and CM7s are really cool.
They'll stay cool if you set the cpu to 1Ghz
Ok so I am new here and to the whole rooting your phone scene. I want to be able to put this cm10 on my phone but it is stock and I have never rooted before. Is there a step by step guide to show me how to root and then get cm10 installed so I can have 4.1 on my phone? Again any help and direction would be greatful.
Yeah, I found that my phone started having jittery issues when it heated up. I changed my CPU back to 1.0Ghz and haven't had any problems since. The rom had it defaulted to 1.3Ghz
Mine stays at 1ghz. Funky at anything above that.

Ok so everything I have been trying isn't working. My phone is on Android 2.3.5 and from what I am seeing that is pretty much a giant **** me in the face it can't be done. Is this true? I have tried rooting and it doesn't work. I have tried setting the phone back to 2.3.4 and nothing works. Is there a way to do this?
No. 2.3.5 is our sticking point for now. No-one has figured out how to properly unlock 2.3.5 yet.

CM10's newest build works beautifully. Really, I have a hard time justifying anyone (still on 2.3.4) staying with stock...

cam corder and video playback is not up to par on any cm 10 rom!
yes thebills cm 10 rom runs smooth.but you must be willing to sacrafice your video/cam.

yes thebills cm 10 rom runs smooth.but you must be willing to sacrafice your video/cam.

Totally agree with you.
Even if you set the CPU to 1G, battery still drains fast on CM10.
And to use video chat programs like skype, you have to use stock or CM7 rom.

peetr vs.20 has everything working ...skype,gtalk,qik,and webtop.
its one of the most rock solid! in the photon forum.

I was in your position a few months ago. I was able to get my MoPho rooted by following some step-by-step instructions by QBKing77 (you can Google him). He has a "How to root and clockworkmod Motorola Photon 4G" video that you can follow which worked for me
Keep in mind that you need to:
download and save the rom that you want onto your phone (you mentioned a CM10 rom)
(backups are always recommended by the devs... I didn't but thankfully everything worked out)
root it
install a recovery
boot into recovery
flash (install) the rom
(sometimes the devs have additional options to flash after the rom, probably a good idea)
follow the steps during flashing (ie agree to EULA, selecting launcher(s), etc)
enjoy the new rom...
Once you're able to get into recovery flashing new roms is not that bad. I've been using Paranoid Android 2.99 which is 4.1.2 based from user Th3Bill (big thanks) for about a day and a half now and I'm really impressed with it.
