Did you follow the instructions as if you were going to install CM7 like you were told to? Sounds like the EXT4 system partition may be missing.

Yes I followed them word for word... I have done it several times with the same issue... how would I fix ext4?

There is an option in the App. It is called "Restore Boot Animation" I believe. Not positive though. Just click it and it will fix your problem and you can proceed to install the lag fix.

TWRP Question

Has anyone had this error when trying to wipe everything using TWRP:
e: Format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk1p2
I dont remember if I got that error in the short time I was using CWM after getting s-off
I would have posted in Q&A but for some reason when I log onto xda from my phone that section doesnt show up as an option so I am assuming I wouldn't be able to read any responses
Thanks guys!
Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
Sent from my s-off'd 3VO
Yeah, I got it. As in, I still get it. But everything seems to be fine, so I'm not worrying about it, lol. I think it has something to do with the sd-ext, or android_secure. Also I think TWRP is working on it. When flashing roms with TWRP, all you need to worry about working is wiping data, cache, dalvik, and factory reset, and all of those are working to my knowledge.

I think its talking about ext4 on the sd, but its throwing an error because it dosent exist.

[Q] [closed] Apps from a2sd ext partition won't entirely remove themselves

Hi,
I recently flashed a new ROM (fla.sh's fla.sh X2, it's excellent, btw) and successfully set up ext4 partitions for a2sd.
The problem is that I sorta "pushed" my phone a little bit too hard whilst downloading 3 apps simultaneously from the Market (I have a weak connection and was furiously multitasking at that time). In the end, those 3 apps wouldn't start at all; it'll load, then pop up a force close dialog.
First I thought it was a problem with the Market data or cache, so I cleared both. Still got errors. Now I believe that the apps are messed up from the ext4 partition.
How can I fix this? I browsed the partition through Terminal Emulator and Ubuntu, but I can't seem to find anything that'll help.
Should I format the partition (or SD card)? I'm picking that as a last resort, since I have other apps in a2sd.
Thanks in advance, let me know if I'm being ambiguous or you need more info.
actually u can browse a2sd partition directly using ur phone, no need ubuntu or teminal whatsoever. in this case, im using rootexplorer. its /system/sd
I can't believe I just realized that. Thanks for mentioning!
But still isn't helping me with my problems.
I took a look over at the fla.sh X2 post, and fla.sh said that it's caused by the V6 Supercharger script.
I'm downloading the de-supercharger script now, hoping it'll fix it.
Have you tried unninstalling them and then installing them again? :S
No, just do a factory reset before flashing. It will format your .asec and sd-ext folders and clean out the apps.

Actually, it's solved now. In the end, I had to format the SD Card.
Btw, how do I mark a thread as solved using the XDA app on Android? :\
But thanks for everybody's help!

[Q] Anyone try PDroid?

I am trying to find a way to block permissions to certain apps after installation. I came across this app called PDroid but requires a patched ROM using a linux script. App can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1357056.
Has anyone tried this app?

I haven't. I use App Shield, and it works well
I forgot to mention there is also LBE privacy guard but I wanted to see all my options
You can try permissions denied.

If you have a ROM in mind, if be happy to compile for you. I've been using it on icscrewd personally the last few versions. It is a really easy install, just flash a zip in cwm and install pdroid from the market

Mount /system in CWM before flashing.
Clear cache and dalvik for good luck
Install PDroid app from market to access features.

Thanks I will try it out this week.
UPDATE: Bad news bears. I flashed the patch as described (mounted system, wiped cache) but the system went into a boot loop. The boot animation kept cycling over and over again.
Did the restore zip work at least? That's the first I've heard of a bout loop caused by it.
It only edits 3 files, none of which could possibly cause more than a boot loop in any case.
EDIT: May have been a corrupted download, I'll be sure to post MD5, hashes next time. Sorry about that!

I don't think it was a corrupt download. I just created a patch myself using the Windows program and it also produced a boot loop. I restored from a nandroid the first time, trying out the restore file right now.
Alright sounds good. That's still really is though, and I have no idea why it happens. Did you flash any addons on top of the stock ROM?

Nope. Just the patch. Although the second time I didn't mount the system. Is this a necessary step? I didn't see anything in the OP of the PDroid thread.
Possible reasons for failure:
* Corrupt download first time
* Second time, didn't mount system
What is this "If you "integrated sys Dalvik into ROM" with Titanium Backup, you will have to undo it"? I am using TB but I'm not sure if this applies to my situation.
I noticed the ROM must be deodexed and I didn't see any odex filetypes in the system/framework directory. That should be the only place they appear right?
On a better note, the restore file works =) Thanks for the help
Yes, you should mount /system in CWM, as I didn't manually edit the patch to add in auto-mounting.
I just tried on Unnamed 2.2.1 and experienced the boot loop as well (created the patch using the Windows patcher). Restore zip works fine, and tried with and without mounting /system in CWM. There apparently is something in Unnamed that the code doesn't like
Too bad, sounds like a good program (I also use LBE and wanted to use it along side).

It's a great app. I am running it on a Hellraised ROM. None of the AT&T base ones work. I sent the dev an error log from UnNamed 1.3.1 and he knows what the problem is and will try to address it in a future patcher release. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22111242&postcount=757)
Check back on that thread whenever he updates it. It's worth it!

Thanks! I guess I didn't go far enough back in the dev's thread (DUH!) so hopefully he's got the info he needs to fix it. I'd really like to try it sometime.
The developer of PDroid has released an update to his patcher that fixes the bootloop issue for AT&T roms. I just installed using UnNamed v1.32 and it works great.
Feels good to block all of those permissions.

Force Delete a file

I have a file in my /data/data folder that is causing a ton of problems and will not delete through root explorer. There is something inside the folder keeping if from deleting. When I restart the phone, the renamed file goes back to the original file name. How can I force delete this file?
its /data/data/com.android.browser
TIA.

Ok,
Giving that a try right now. I never even thought to use TWRP for that. Brilliant. so I get to that spot...and as I type its been on a deleting dialog for a couple of moments, but this is what came up when I selected delete:
"Updating partition details...
E:error opening '/data/data/com.android.browser.
E: Error: Too many open files
Recovery rebooted after about 5 minutes and the file is still there. This file is stubborn. But it has to be the one causing the issues.
BTW, I appreciate your help in this.

And I've started getting the too many files open error when I went to run a Nandroid backup last night. UGGG!!!
Either:
I'm doing something wrong,
I've got an app that is doing bad things to my phone,
or my phone is giving out.
I wonder if I've just flashed too much.
