X10 sq - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Are you guys satisfied with the sound quality of X10 through earphones. To me,it lacks bass. What is the best earphone for this phone.I am currently on ep630 from creative.

I agree, the sound quality is slightly tinny.
I use Klipsch S4.

I am using Skullcandys (the big, golden one) and they are awesome :3
Our speakers (both) are a shame for x10 ... no bass, low volume and so on...

I dissagree. Buy good sennheisser in ears
Sent from my X10i TripNMiUI using XDA Premium App

Well for me X10 has great sound quality, and bass. I can even say there's too much bass (and I like bass ). Just get good music player like PowerAMP, set the right equalizer, and You can get very decent results
I'm using Phillips SHE-9550.

Im using cm 6.1.2 xtremes. It came with a DSPmanager. It boosts volume, you can add eq effects, compression, bass boost. The rom has a great music player too. With lock screen buttons ( play ,forward, back). Kinda off topic but i use my phone as a music player more then a phone.
Im a producer and its the closest i can get to my studio sound.
My headphones are sennheiser cx 200.(got them for free..long story)
Oh and next time you want new headphones, check out your local music equipment store. Look in the studio section. Better headphones then your big box store has. Better prices too. If you feel the need to buy beats by dre. Slap yourself and go buy studio monitors from the music store. Sealed monitoring headphones if you want bass that makes your eyes vibrate. Word.

Beats Audio...worth it?

Hey all, just wondering if the beats audio make any difference. I currently use PowerAmp...usually with no EQ. My music files are mostly .flac with some .ogg and a few mp3's. I'm using Bowers & Wilkins C5 headphones on the go and Shure SRH 840 at home. Is it worth it to look for a ROM with Beats or is Beats all hype?
I tried a pair of Beats. They sound similar to my $50 earbuds. To me its just a marketing gimmick. The bass for me seems too overpowered as well, and I love boosting my bass so don't get me wrong. If you're looking for sound quality, you could get earbuds/headphones with equal or better for cheaper. Sony earbuds/headphones have excellent sound quality with a cheap price tag. Best bang per buck IMO.

the beats EQ on the sensation makes even my ipod headphones sound beast, id like it on here.
with the headphones i havent tried the in ear beats, ive tried the over the ear ones at staples and they sounded great
I got a pair of the solo hd headphones, they are over ear headphones, and music sounds amazing, id recommend them, though they are pricey.
For ROMs I noticed that bass boosting doesn't kill the other sounds and sounds cleaner.

Yes you are right. I even said in my OP which headphones I'm using. One thing I've found is that the stock HTC player with beats audio does not play .flac files.
I was really wondering about beats audio vs something like powerAmp. I have powerAmp now but I find none of the preset eq settings are satisfying. I know you can set custom eq but that's really a pain in the ass and time consuming.
Someone in another thread suggested PlayerPro, but it doesnt seem to recognize .flac files either (at leas the free version).
So I guess the question now is, should I convert my songs to mp3 to take advantage of beats audio, or PlayerPro.

i used to love poweramp, i just think its ugly as crap. beats eq sounds perfect for alot of music i listen to. metal, rock, techno, etc. its also annoying having 3rd partys apps, just makes your phone run slower

More bass up in this piece!!!

Love this phone, but I need more bass pumping from it!. God Smack, Se7endust, Rush, and yes fu**kers, ADELE!, sound like $h¿t without good bass. Deep punchy bass makes me happy. I've been using the paid version of Volume+ but that's as useful as a screen door on a submarine. If anhbidy knows of something better, please share. No pirated apps please. Only legit. I have no problem going to.market an paying for it.
Please, let's not turn this thread into a N©©B salad. Thanks

If youre really serious about your bass, I recommend a portable amplifier. I picked up the Fiio E11 and it blows my mind every time.

Poweramp is going to be a wise choice.
What are you settings on the other equipment you are using? Might adjust some crossovers

What headphones are you using?
I also agree with VinceG. If you really want some good sound, you should consider a portable Amp/DAC and some good headphones.
Are you sure it the bass that's making that music sound awful? But yea, power amp is really good. Also a good pair of over the ear headphones will help a lot.

If this APP would work..
I purchased these headphones when my old in ears died that I had used for over 2 years, and they came with a app that let you control the sound to your liking.
[link to headphones: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...adphones+and+Accessories-_-Klipsch-_-26779026 ]
[link to app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.outsidesource.klipschcontrol&hl=en ]
You might try the app with your current buds. It might be what your looking for. I would uninstall any apps that affect sound you have installed.

Actually, yes.
I have a pair of Sennheiser HD600's which are over the ear 'studio' headphones, when I bought them, they were priced at $600 and were the second best set sold by Sennheiser (the best set went for $2500). Currently, the HD600 set is now the third best set, beat out by the HD610's.
All of that to say, I have a pair of Sennheiser earbuds that perform nearly as well as the HD600's (again, priced currently in the mid $550 range), but the earbuds are priced at I believe $450 retail (the ie80s).
If you have a tendency to loose earbuds however, the $450 set is a bad choice. Buy a cheap set and learn to keep control of them before you make that kind of investment.
You get what you pay for. Buy cheap, you get cheap. Sennheiser headphones (the higher end ones in particular) not only have the capability of putting out the bass, they are well balanced, not overly bass'y' just to be 'cool'. You get a very accurate sound reproduction out of them and I recommend them highly.
Earbuds do not put out the bass by them self, they use your ear canal as a bass reflex hole. You need to be careful when using earbuds for this very reason, they seal your ear canal and use the pressure created by the sealing to create some pretty impressive bass.
IE-80s ($450)
http://www.sennheiserusa.com/in-ear-earbuds-headphones-ie-80_504771
IE-60s ($250)
http://www.sennheiserusa.com/earbud-headphones-ie-60-in-ear-sound-fashion_504769
adidas CX 310 Originals ($100)
http://www.sennheiserusa.com/earbuds-headphones-stereo-noise-cancelling_504688
The IE-80s can have the amount of bass adjusted in each earpiece by using a small screwdriver and the headphone wire is replaceable. One last thing, you need to allow around 15-30 hours of usage time with these before you make a final decision to keep them. This means, use them for 15-30 hours because they begin to sound even better than when you first take them out of the box.
I recommend getting higher quality earbuds or headphones and use Poweramp.
I currently use Poweramp coupled with either the Astro A*stars (earbuds w/control), Beats Tour (earbuds w/controltalk) and Beats Solo (overear w/controltalk).
Best all around sound with the A*stars though, boomier eye cavity vibrating resonance with the Beats (both).
And yes if that's not enough and as someone else mentioned early... might wanna get an external amp DAC.

[Q] Best earphones for the Wolfson chip?

Hi guys,
Any ideas what would be the best music player (MP3) app and earphones to go with the S3?
I'm currently on the stock earphones, and it sounds kind of flat, even with live 7.1 switched on.
Any good recommendations?
Sony EX510
Sound magic e10
monster turbine gold (these are quite expensive but they sound amazing and have a lifetime warranty)
http://www.head-fi.org/f/103/portable-headphones-earphones-and-in-ear-monitors
The best will cost you more than the phone itself. It all depends on your budget, but that link above will guide you. Probably the best forum on earphones out there.
Best app?
If you're an audiophile and want the best sound quality then it has to be neutron player but that has a horrible ui.
Poweramp would be my second choice where the ui is more friendly and mainstream and the sound quality is still noticeably better than the maintstream music apps out there.
P.S every single person in that earphone forum will slam you if you even so much as hint that beats headphones sound good.
Monster Beats Solo HD + Play Music (v4.3.605.392829 (jellyBean)
very nice
I prefer earphones such as the AKG K324(P)
to fat headphones.
However the best earphones only bring so much if the Samsung-software has limitations.
You should get the Siyahkernel which ports the old Voodoo from S1 to the S3 and bring an awesome quality boost. Enabling Dynamic Range and setting Bassboost to "small speaker" further increments the experience.

This thread here is a review of 200+ earphones grouped into different price brackets for easy viewing:
http://www.head-fi.org/t/478568/mul...00-monster-miles-davis-trumpet-added-06-19-12
Pick your price bracket and read through the reviews of the earphones that fall in that range. The people in that forum are way more experienced in this area than the majority of posters here who will end up recommending you the wrong thing.
It's like going on a car forum and then asking them whats the best rom to use on your phone. The majority of posters would be of no actual help to you and you're better off asking people who are more knowledgeable on the topic.
Switch off 7.1. Majority of music for consumers is stereo so just 2.0. 7.1 would modify it further from the way it was meant to be heard. Also if you haven't done so already make sure your mp3's have a bit rate of 320kbps or are in a lossless format.
1. Ultimate Ears Triple fi 10 Earphones
2. PowerAmp[1] Pro[2]
3. Your music in .flac
My combination exactly.
We have dif ears and taste in music... no one can tell you what's best except your ears... Source (S3) is already good sounding, what you need is a good medium (no lower than 256kbps mp3/aac or even loseless FLAC) and a good player app (Poweramp)... Headphones? its for you to decide... Music to my ears might be noise for you (example: most of people likes bass, a lot of lows... not for me, i hate artificial bass thats why i hate the Hiphop Genres and alike... im more of classical/jazz guy, so i have to choose what headphone that suits to my prefered genres) .. Hope this help

Important beats question

so... one of the main reasons i got this phone is for the beats... while it is shiipping i would love to know if there is any chance a few questions could be answered.
does beats only work on/get full richness from beats head/earphones?
how do you know if it is working?
does beats also affect speaker quality?
and if the first question is correct, is this because of the beats audio engine is already installed, or is there another reason?
any helpful answers will be met with a thanks i guess
Only on headphones and a beats symbol will show in note bar

I can't speak for the full richness of beats head/earphones, because I have only ever used my cheap $9 ones or the AUX jack in my car.
I asked myself the same question "How do i know it's working," when you plug in an AUX Jack, A small red b (circled) will show up in the notifications bar. What i did was plugged my headphones/car stereo system into my phone, and played some music and turned beats audio on, then off again and i did notice a nice difference in the sound. (See attached Picture)
You can tell if it is working my turning that option in the notification bar on/off and noticing the difference.
Speaker quality is not effected by Beats unfortunately, but the speaker itself is loud and great

If you really want some good SQ, and have high bitrate (320kbps+) or flac/other lossless formats, download neutron music player...by far the best SQ I've heard out of a cellphone when paired with the dedicated headphone amp. I turn the beats dsp off and set this up and its great. Currently using westone 4's and etymotic er4p. Never tried over the ears, I prefer in ear. I do use the beats dsp when playing slacker radio. It does muddy up the mids a slight bit, but seems to me to pick up both ends of the spectrum and bring the soundstage just a bit more forward.

Not sure, I've never tried them. I also have a pair of Shure SE215's, which are single driver. Obviously not going to be as good as the turbines driver, but I seem to prefer multiple armature in-ears versus single. I feel like the details are a bit better seperated, yet still blended well.

Best headset for Xperia Z2

Hey guys
Last week I had lost my xb90
So now I am looking around for a new headset i found these three
1- Sony MDR-NC31
2- Sony MDR-NC750

I had never try the Digital Noise Canceling headset so i am just confused about them..
Can anyone tell me that there is any difference in terms of sound quality between Sony NC31 and NC750..
Specially after updating to (MM 6.0) because Sony clams that NC750 will support Hi-Res audio..

I'll recommend MDR-XB70AP (INR 2500/-) ebay offer price.
@ present i'm using SONY XBA-A1AP (INR 6500/-) bought from ebay.
I got the SOUNDMAGIC E50 which are amazing looking and it`s an amazing feeling with that memory foam technology for a better feeling and more clearance and a better bass. a must have is the BASSULTIMATE v10 +beta33 SOUNDMOD for the Z2 MM! MUCH BETTER HEADPHONE EXPERIENCE WITHOUT ANY CRACKLING
I have used
SoundMagic ES18
Sennheiser cx180
and now Sony MDR-XB50AP.
I've used:
-Sennheiser Cx300-II Precision.
-Sony MDR NC31EM.
-Sennheiser MM30g.
-JBL T100A.
-HTC Black In-Ear.
-HTC Max 300.
-Sony MDR NC750.
-JBL T280A.
If you want good bass; I'd recommend Cx300-II;
if you want good mids; I'd recommend T280A;
if you want good upper tones; I'd recomment T280A;
However, if you want to listen your music the better, louder, richer, clearer way; then you need an HTC One M8 or another upper HTC device with the black In-Ear HTC earphones. Sony is really bad at audio quality.
As for the NC31EM and NC750M, the so called "noise cancelling" cancels the noice by making some "hiss" sound at a very low decibel so your ears think it doesn't hear anything from the outer world.
However, any of the JBL or Sennheiser in-ear phones have better noice cancelling than these headsets. Their microphones are on the ear sides, so the call quality is terrible.
As for the music, they don't give anything promising in their price-range, they're just "SONY" .
The mids are very loud, I mean VERY loud, compared to upper and lower tones, they just eat your ear on high volumes, even without modding volume levels.
So you'll be wasting your money if you buy one of these.

However, if you want to listen your music the better, louder, richer, clearer way; then you need an HTC One M8 or another upper HTC device with the black In-Ear HTC earphones. Sony is really bad at audio quality.

Wait, what? The Sony's are amazing at audio quality, I should know, I have an Xperia Z2. HTC's skewer the audio towards more bass, heck too much bass, they ruin the mids and highs completely. It was worse when they had the Beats Audio tech, but it was improved with the M9, I can only speak on audio of the M9 because that's what I had experience with.
I played 'With Love' album, some Above & Beyond, a couple of songs from Monstercat, and some Frank Ocean, and the HTC's boosted the bass way too much on all of them and squashed the Mids and Highs. The Xperia by comparison was more accurate, it did put less bass than the HTC, but didn't squash the highs and mids to get there. Granted, the HTC did sound louder and the Xperia was quieter in comparison, (used with Sol Republic Tracks V8, LG Tonepro HBS 760 and Samsung Level Active Bluetooth In-earphones. Heck, I even used a Logitech G230 Gaming Headset.) but in terms of how the songs project I'd prefer the Xperia because they sound more real and not artificial. Also, the Xperias have SIGNIFICANTLY more granular tweaking with the audio quality.
My friend swears by her NC31EM used with Xperia Z3 Compact, they do block out almost all noise (except when screaming directly next to her) and the sound is well balanced and there's a good kick of bass...
I'm using xiaomi hybrid, good sound quality per price but when I turn on fm radio all I hear is headset's microphone sound... ?
