My gtablet is on its way to me. Where do I go in this forum to find out how to upgrade the OS (which is what I have read that I need to do to make the gtablet really enjoyable). I will probably need step by step instructions. Thanks!
I'm new, too, but I'll tell you, this was a great post to start with:

One of the tricky parts will be to pick which ROM you want to use. There's no correct answer, there. Look through the developer's forum and pick one that strikes your fancy. Vegan and TNTLite are both very popular. I'm running tjohnsonjr's Gingerbread with Honeycomb elements in it - one nice thing with that is that I've had none of the market problems I've heard others complain about. There are a lot of other options, including a test version of the popular CyanoMod 7 (the Gingerbread release) with a lot of honeycomb elements especially for tablets.
How to Install a New ROM
Is there someplace that gives you step-by-step instructions on how to install a new ROM?
Thanks

Did you even click the link that Chadness provided or are you just trying to get your post count up? If you want to flash a new ROM then you should start with that link.

These are the best darn instructions I've seen:

Your question was answered. Check the link provided.
Several suggestions.
Read up on the available ROMS before you make your choice They all have advantages and disadvantages.
Pick a ROM. Pick one that has been around for a while and is stable for your first time. Don,t pick prototype roms. Get comfortable with it before changing. If you want to try multiple ROMS. LEARN NVFLASH fisrt.
Print out the instructions and add check boxes to each step. The follow them carefully and be patient. Some of the reboots after flashing can take a while.

I did click the link and the statement about me trying to get my post count up is ridiculous and I really don't appreciate it.
I am new to this forum and looking for help. If you don't want to help me that is fine as others have responded in a kinder fashion.

Hi all,
I have rooted my device according to the following method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319653
My phone specs are as follows: Stock Rom.
PDA:KJ2/ PHONE:KI4/ CSC:KJ1 (XSG)
Now that I have rooted my device, I would like some help what to do next for optimum performance and to remove the bloatware? I am very new to android world. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
trawl the rom threads see what you like the look of, im not saying this just becausei use it, but take a look at the litenin rom thread in my sig, thats simple to flash and plenty of instructions, i have found most roms are are based on nothing much being changed unless you go for miui or a cm7 rom,
if you wanna remove bloatware i personally set my phone up n use system app remover, everyone has there own personal choice for roms so its basically take a look at the thread if u like the look of it give it a shot,
there is plenty of help and advice in the stickys and the rom threads if you get stuck.

Thanks a lot Demon_man for the reply. I have noted few things in lightening ROM which need clarification.
1) It is based on 2.3.4 while mine is 2.3.5...should I go back?
2) It doesn't support Right to left languages..They say to install older versions.
3) what is the battery life with lightening ROM?
I shall be thankful for further help.
sorry thought i had updated my sig litnin is now un supported as far as im aware the dev left but this thread has taken over the litnin rom,

I'm not new to rooting but I am new to the website. Couple of questions before I can really help. First the ROM you flashed is a cdma rom but is your phone cdma or GSM? Next question, what hboot are you on? Finally have you downloaded the adb and fastboot drivers to your PC? I'll see if I can help you out if you can get back to me
Did you fully wipe before flashing?
Also, it seems that rom is pretty much in the Alpha stage, meaning things won't work, which is normal.
Ok I think I found a solution to your problem. Go to the main post for your ROM on xda. There is a link near the top that says Check out the comprehensive FAQ by brainfire. Click that link and it will take you to a FAQs website for you ROM. It talks about your USB problem on there. Sorry I can't provide a link. I haven't posted enough yet but I would give it if I could. Hope this helps a bit.

Hi, I will be getting this phone today (i9100 unlocked) and have a couple of questions on how to proceed onwards. Any help would be greatly appreciated
1. What is the best firmware and rooted kernel for me to go on?
I want the absolute simpilest way to root my phone (total beginner) and I don't know what firmware I will have when I receive it, I also don't know if I should stay on a gingerbread firmware or go to ics? I also don't care if it is official or custom as long as I'm not sacraficing stability. If possible I would like a rom that is good for battery life. I also want to root my phone in the safest way. There are so many tutorials I didn't know where to start
2. What are some of the essential rooted apps and how do you install them? Through superuser or market?
3. What are the risks involved with a standard flashing/root because I'm getting my phone second hand I don't have warranty.
Thanks for all your help!
Edit: I just say a sticky saying not to ask what roms are the best so I'm sorry if I broke a rule. I just literally have no idea where to start, I've never even used android before. I've found so many methods of rooting and roms but most seem outdated. I would just like someone to point me in the right direction of the up to date way. Sorry if I'm really not supposed to ask!

Superuser is not used to install apps, you would either download them from the market or manually install the .apks

Rooting your phone would void the warranty anyway and bricking is probably your biggest risk.

Yes. There are dozens, if all you wanted me to do was provide a link to a more comprehensive guide, why don't you just learn how to use Google for yourself?

Believe me, I tried, but there are so many options, also, I've now decided to opt for a locked virgin i9100 bcause it was 50 bucks more for a new phone with the warranty, so what's the best way to unlock one? I think I recall a free app.

We see you are new here, it is pretty much expected that you spend some time reading the stickies and threads that apply to what it is you are trying to do before making these kind of threads. Add to that this topic has been discussed a lot so there is a tone of info on it. Lastly it is absolutely in your best interest to understand what it is your doing and all that information has been discussed ad nauseum.

I've done alot of reading the only thing I'm still unsure about is why theirs no kernels in the all in one kit anymore. In the video he made there's 2 or 3 choices but when I downloaded it the kernel files empty. I don't know if its something about the new update, but I havnt been able to find anything about it.

You are missing the point. You made 2 threads withing 2 hours and you PM'd me. Instead, you could've made one thread and placed everything there and wait for a response. Patience is a virtue.
I am a nice guy as you saw in the forums. I do not do technical support via PM. I do help around the forum, just not in my PM.
Since you are new to the forum, I'm just explaining how it works around here so you don't get flamed or anything. Some developers do not like to do tech support via PM, some don't mind. However, majority of them don't. Take that into consideration next time.

Yeah I get where your coming from, I'm sure you get tons of pms about the same stuff over and over. So sorry about that. I don't mean to fill up the forum with post that have already been covered too. Your tool, from what I've read, seems like the safest easiest way to root the amaze. It's my first time ever doing this sort of thing so I just want to be sure I don't mess anything up. Could you answer my question about no kernels being in your kit anymore? Do I just need to download one and put it in the file or what? And if so is there anything else That was taken out and needs to be downloaded that I might've missed?
Thanks.
I think I finally have all the steps down.
1) download winrar
2) download tool and extract data folder to my desktop or wherever
3) turn USB debugging on phone
4) download the rom I want and put it into the kernel section of the data folder.
5) plug in phone
6) follow steps 1-5
7) put unlock_code.bin in the data folder
8) flash recover (should I use the 4ext, TWRP 2.1.0, or find another one online?)
9) flash kernel/rom I picked
10) boot into recovery
11) boot into boot loader
12) relock boot loader (how do I get into fast boot to do this?)
Please let me know if I'm missing ANYTHING in those steps. If I'm not mistaken I should be finished after completing all these?
Thanks again for all the help guys! im just a noob that needs some help. Haha

All the steps are correct, except for 10-12. You do not need to relock the bootloader. It will only cause more problems.
ALSO, flash the ROM first, then flash the kernel.

So what should I do after flashing the rom?
Also, dont most of the roms already have kernels in them so I won't have to flash both but just the rom?
Thanks a lot!

I cant say ive tried super nexus. unfortunately i tried cyanogenmod first and i love it too much!
Here's a suggestion. Follow the guide and install cm9, mess around with it n see how you like it.
Make a nandroid backup then try cm10, see if you like jelly bean better.
make another nandroid backup and install supernexus. now you can switch to whichever rom you liked the best
Also ive updated the thread with cm10 instructions.
Good luck n happy flashing!
