The ES explorer sees it and I can see JPG files and play music but if I want to open files from my network even giving the application the path, it says the folder doesn't exists. To be more specific, what I'm trying to do is open CBR files in Perfect Viewer that reside in my home network.

I used CIFS Mount, which mounts a shared drive as if it were a folder on your SD card. You can then navigate to it via most apps.
Is it cifsmanager? After installed I get the error: "This app is not installed in your phone"

Native/Stock Download app doesn't seem to recognize any files put in the /sdcard/Download folder.
I moved a bunch of files from my previous phone into the /sdcard/Download folder but none of the files seem to be recognized at all by
the native/stock download app (they simply do not appear on the screen).
And I am sure it is the correct folder because I have downloaded more files since I got this phone and the files are saved in the same location
(/sdcard/Download) and being recognized by the stock download app.
I have also ES Explorer installed but just thought I like the look of native download app plus it is linked from the notification bar.
Anyway I could fix this?
Thanks!

The Download app does not "recognize" files, it has a history of files you downloaded through it.
To access the data on the storage, use apps such as "File manager" (Stock), "OI File Manager" (free) or "ES File manager" (also free)
Hi,
I would like to open a *.html file from my SD card with Chrome.
With Opera it is : "file://localhost/mnt/extSdcard/Myfolder/myfile.html"
With the native browser it is "file://mnt/extSdcard/Myfolder/myfile.html"
I have tried with Chrome many possibilities but it doesn't work.
Any idea please.
Thanks.

I don't know. Try open it when you browse your files with a file manager.

Try : "file:///localhost/mnt/extSdcard/Myfolder/myfile.html" with three "/" after "file:".
On my laptop (running Archlinux and Chromium), to open file I have try "file:///localhost/home/*myuseraccount*/*myfilename*.txt" and it works.

Here's a link which worked for me on my Nexus 4:
file://localhost//storage/emulated/0/MyFolder/MyFile.ex
\___________________________________/\___________________/
..............................↓................................................↓...............
................Path of the sd-card.........................Your path........
For example:
file://localhost//storage/emulated/0/Download/picture.jpg
I tried to open the sd-card and it denied the access, but I could open the downloads folder. I don't know exactly why but it doesn't matter. The main thing is that the link is workin

Using ES File Explorer on my XPERIA Z1, choosing Open As > Other > Chrome Beta, I get the following URL:
"file:///sdcard/Download/file.html"
As long as the file is on the internal storage, and not on an SD card, the page will open.
Otherwise i get a page stating "Access to the file was denied. ERR_ACCESS_DENIED

Having the file on the internal storage (i.e. the phone / device) and not an external storage (SD card) worked for me also.
FOR OTHERS WITH SIMILAR ISSUES:
Generally Android browsers do not allow viewing of files on the external media card (SD card) for security reasons (e.g.. a malicious website could read/write to your SD card). Directory browsing is also prohibited. So if you try to load a page it may give the option to open the file using its HTML viewer - which isn't as fully functional as a browser (and no good for simple web page design testing).
Placing the file on the device's internal storage (e.g. in Download folder) and opening the URL link in the browser (e.g. file:///sdcard/Download/file.html †) will open the HTML file in the browser normally.
†Despite "sdcard" being in the name, "file:///sdcard/Download/file.html" is actually a path to the internal device storage. (The device's internal storage is an emulated SD card for technical reasons). An external SD card path is usually "extSDcard" or similar - but the browser will not load it due to the security restrictions mentioned.

I find Dropbox or Google Drive to be the easiest solutions for this. It sets up a folder on your PC and whatever you put in it will sync online and be accessed through the respective apps on the phone.
With a little more investigation, Samba File Sharing located here does the trick. Astro and Ez File explorer allow you to view files on your network, but not the other way around. Samba adds your phones internal storage as a network folder. If your phone has an external sd card, then you can add to show it as well. Though, I would like the option to only allow certain folders to be shared, but this works just fine!
I have used ES File Explorer pro on all my devices before getting the MediaPad M5, and I have been able to open files on network shares just by tapping them. This has been good for reading comics and magazines, playing music, sideloading apk's etc. But on the M5, any time I try to open a file, I get an error message "failed to copy file". So I have to physically copy files to the M5 and then open them from there. This isn't an issue with apk's but I have to locally store all the comics, mags and music.
Can anyone suggest a fix for this?
Just downloaded a file to from a website, used ES File Explorer Pro to copy it from the downloads folder on my device and paste it into a networked Windows shared folder. Everything went as expected.
Tried to copy the same file back to another folder on my device and I get the 'failed to copy the file' message. Which is annoying.
I can't rename files in a network folder either.
Rooted Nexus 6, running the final stock ROM, and TWRP recovery, no problems here.
I have Android File Transfer up and running and it sees my device and I can see the SD/storage folders that AFT allows. No problems here.
I want to transfer a hidden file that you need a root file explorer to find, to my Mac. I have a root file explorer and found the file I want to transfer. I used TWRPs file manager to put it in the "downloads" folder of SDCARD, so I can see it in Android File Transfer. So far so good. No problems here either.
Problem: When I try to drag that file to my desktop, it blocks me and I get an error window saying: "couldn't not replace file" in the top line of and "could not copy file blah blah blah.epub However, when I try to drag other files to from that folder to my desktop, I have no problems. Just these particular ones.
It is a Barnes and Noble Nook e-book file that I dug out of the hidden folders of the app using a root explorer. But something is blocking me from copying it from my phone's SD, downloads folder to my desktop.
Any ideas?
