[Q] TNT 4.2.5 weird behavior Got me Stumped!?! - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm running TNT 4.2.5 on my GTablet and its working perfectly. My friend has a gtablet that has problems with his market not able to let him complete downloads.
SO to try and fix:
I reflashed tnt cuz i thought he did it wrong, switched to Vegan, switched back to tnt, NVflash to stock and back to tnt, and now finally I just booted a recovery of MY backup into his tablet.
Booting my recovery works. Market now downloads fine. Went in did a data wipe to reset the account. Input his account info in....NOW Market will not complete download. GAHAH.
SO to test if his account is wonky:
I data wiped my tablet, input his account info...market downloads fine.
WTF is happening?!?
why wont his tablet market work with his account info?
I read through a lot of the threads and not sure if I came across anyone having this problem. I saw a few threads that related to not having market complete the downloads, but supposedly NVFLASH to stock and New rom fixed it?
any insight is truly appreciated!!
Thanks.

Market and Gmail app fails after root and CWM install

I installed the new OTA update earlier today and then did the one click mod.
Then installed CWM Recovery using the guide on this site.
Everything went perfectly the first try. I have ROM Manager installed also.
Browsing works fine.
When trying to download an app it errors out in the info bar and says, "Download was unsuccessful." Sometimes AppBrain will say connection error after opening.
Gmail app gives me a connection error, as does Google Talk.
I've tried clearing the data and cache for all these apps including the Download Manager and rebooting. I'm treading in unfamiliar waters and I'm not sure what to try next. I'd love some help please!
Was so excited that everything went flawlessly and now this...
I waited for the OTA update before rooting just so I'd be as legit as possible. I'm not sure if the root caused the problems or if flashing CWM caused the problems, so I've been trying to find a way to go in reverse and get rid of CWM, but I haven't found anything that's made sense yet. From what I gather I'd have to put the stock Recovery back, and I don't know how to do that. All I have is a ROM Manager backup that I performed after the CWM install.
I'm confused and I hope someone can point me in a safe direction.
Fixed itself. Glad I was patient enough not to try something stupid.
See, I was out of cell service while rooting. Once I got into 3g service this morning everything started working. Even turned airplane mode on and everything works via wireless now.
Haven't a clue why, but I'm thankful nonetheless. : )

[Q] System UIDs Inconsistent... Please Help

I get this message when I boot up.
I cannot access settings so I cannot perform a factory reset.
Is there any way to factory reset when you cannot access "Settings" because of constant force closes.
I am running stock but with lots of side-loaded apps.
I can access the file explorer. That is the only thing I can open that will remain open even though I get constant force close popups like "android.process.acore has stopped... android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly...
Is my gtab toast? Can it be saved or should I return it?
I get this all the time, with all the mods I do. Don't worry, your system is fixable.
For me, I use clockworkmod recovery .08. There's a "fix permissions" option and this always fixes the problem for me. It also allows a data wipe within recovery.
If you are 100% stock, you could try one of the stock ROM's here as well - that might get you working. You have a few options, here. Check out the FAQ in my signature. I'm actually posting up the new stock update that I pulled from TnT, today.
EDIT: Direct link the the stock ROM updates -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842000. You'd need to understand how to actually run these, which I mention in the FAQ section.
thx Roebeet, I was able to update to the new stock rom.
But I still have the same problem. Is there any other way to wipe my data. Can it be done while connected by usb or do i have to root it?
Is there any hardware button method to do a factory reset?
I still cannot open settings... it gets canceled by the force closes.
I am ready to give upon my G-Tab which I was enjoying so much.
Does anyone know how to wipe the date if you cannot open settings???
Try clockworkmod - it really is a great tool. You can find it in the Tnt Lite dev section as I have a link for .08.
For UID issues, "fix permissions" will correct it. And you can wipe data via clockworkmod as well. You can even remove it by flashing back to stock -- the latest stock firmware works as I've done it myself, the other day.
Btw, there are so many threads here that I sometimes miss replying. I dont ignore, I just might miss a post. Always feel free to PM me if you have a question.
I had a similar issue where something got corrupted in my user data and I was completely unable to start the settings or open the keyboard. I had to flash back to the full vanilla ROM because it contained clockworkmod, which was the only option available to accomplish a factory reset. That wasn't a fun day.
Think I figured out a key reason for sudden UID issues
People including me are getting UID errors even after having a stable rom and several reboots with no issues. Based on guinea piggin' my G, I can confirm the issues happen on apparently stable installs anytime you update a Google app.
Case in point, I updated Google Voice and Gmail and soon after I rebooted the G- UID city. I have started with a clean rom and installed many different apps to test. The only apps that hose the device at reboot are the GAPPS and it is not just if you update with the package. Simply updating from market will work fine, until you reboot and then it is a few minutes for trying to shut the device down and then perhaps two reboot attempts using fixed permissions.
TnT 2.20 (at least) does NOT like GAPP updates. How could VS bork this up so bad that fundamental apps for Android bork the device?
Again, the Tap UI team and who hired them and approved it on the Gtablet should be fired, rehired for a minute and then fired for good. Word.
This sounds kind of "preachy," but don't give up.
There is a learning curve to the G-Tablet, and it takes a good bit of reading on this site and assimilating the info.
I will testify that I had a hugely bad malfunction and and even worse fix on my tablet.
Using suggestions from helpful folk -- and carefully researching what I needed to do -- I was able to get my tablet back working just fine. To be sure, it's not stock any more!!! But I actually believe that with all I learned about flashing, mods, etc., I now could go back and make it stock again if I wanted to.
Don't give up. Just keep reading and researching the learning.

Not true for me, I installed the new Gmail from the Market with no problems. I am on TNTLite 2.2.1.
Google Voice has always been a hack for a tablet, since it is not actually phone. You might want to pull it out and see if your issues are solved.
I am back up and running thanks to clockwordmod. Thanks again!

Good to hear and thanks for the update!
I am currently having this problem. I am hoping to sell my 10" Android 2.2 Tablet PC on Craigslist... I need to fix this Error... I've only used it 10 times to play Angry Birds. The forum with the links I am confused as to what one to use... I am younger I must say. I am not a 21 year old "computer whiz"/.NET/OS maker... I do make websites. Besides that... I do not know how to "Wipe my system partition" as my Error message says to. Especially due to the fact I cannot open Settings. PLEASE HELP. I may have repeated things said above in his problems but I would like a "NOOB" walk through... (Because I am one). Please help. Thanks in advance. -Sophomoric
Hey, I had a same after my phone battery was empty and it turned off. I kept it off and recharged it, then I had the feeling "I'm feeling Lucky" -.-' so nice from google. xD
Had to wipe everything then full reinstall... such a pain.
Probably the cleanest solution HERE

[Q] should i just go back to stock and replace my TB

I have no way of getting my phone to successfully download apps from the android marketplace. I went from bamf 1.6.3 to the unsigned mr1 stock rom, back to bamf and back to mr1 and nothing works for my phone.
I was thinking of reverting to stock and using my insurance to get a new thunderbolt to start new. Every time i tried to fix the problem i am having i would do a full wipe on my phone through cwr and install my rom then at startup i would link my google and or htcsense account but my phone will not allow me to download anything from the market.
Would verizon be able to tell that i rooted my phone if reverted back to stock, unrooted and claimed insurance?
Don't know if this will help, but have you gone to Applications->Manage->All and find Market & MarketUpdater, Force close them and delete data?
Did you also try using Market Doctor in Titanium Backup to see if that helps?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
when you are installing your rom do you Wipe Data/ Wipe Cache/ wipe Dalvik (under advance tab)? To me it does not sound like a hardware issue. Also try airplane mode and use wifi to get to market and see if it would let you download something.

To answer this question: if you revert back to non-root, S-ON using a signed ROM and Radio, then no, they will never know.
Ok i did try the tips from nero, didn't work. Don't know what is causing this but monday i am going to stock and s-on and trade it in.
Ok to anyone that has ever had the problem where you couldn't download android market apps, i fixed my problem. I have no idea how i exactly fixed it but i will tell you everything i did before it worked right again. I formatted my sd card, system, data, cache in clockworkmod recovery. I then i installed my rom (bamf remix 1.6.3). I used titanium backups market doctor (it told me no links were found). I synced my google account, htc account and in my privacy settings i checked backup and restore. I synced my phone and let it finish before doings anything. I used my application settings to force close market app and updater then cleared data. Lastly i used super one click and re rooted my phone and then enabled non market apps.
What ever i did i fixed my problem, will link this to bamf remix thread and thank everyone that put up with and helped me
I had this same problem, and thought that I was screwed, but what solved it for me was a battery pull. I got so pissed trying everything that I could, I just pulled the battery and went to sleep.
When I got up, it was syncing just fine.
There are quite a few threads on this subject since I have lurked these forums. Wonder where the problem is.

I had a similar problem a while back and it drove me nuts and I finally figured out why. It was because I have changed some settings in my google account that required a credit card and I never supplied the info. For me it was google adsense for my blog, which I ended up getting rid of, but once I finished the setup of that section of my account I was downloading from the market again.

Flash to Stock Bell and lost Google Apps

ok, so I flashed back to stock bell ROM via the instructions from NFHimself.
Everything worked fine, my phone is now back running fine, and i was able to run the Bell OTA update.
Only problem is now somehow i've lost all of the Google apps (ie. Maps, Gmail, Market).
Without the market I haven't been able to restore any of my apps. I've seen a lot of Market.apks out there, but theres dozens of versions, and i don't know if any of those are legit anyways.
Help?
factory reset, will come back.
I had the exact same problem, and the factory data reset fixed it.
thanks mates.
seemed like a pretty easy fix. i guess i didn't think of it since i figured it was already a clean flash.
cheers

[Q] Vegan Gingerbread running Vegan 5.1.1 Desktop (Stuck)???

Hey All,
Here's the rundown. Got the tab new with version 1.2. NVFlashed to 1.1 via directions from 'Gtab for dummies' website and installed installed CWMod just fine (thanks to the Gtab for dummies web page, great work). Partitioned fine. I decided to try Vegan 5.0 and 5.1.1 Supplimental first (though, it never loaded Gingerbread Keyboard for me). Then I went back into CWMod, cleared the 3 caches, then installed the stable version of Vegan Gingerbread 7.0. Booted in ok, waited, restarted, waited. All was ok. Shut down and into CWMod and ran backup then restarted, but it looped to the dev screen and back out into CWMod. I tried reloading the backup but it seems to have failed. So I cleared out all the caches again, then reinstalled. I got it working again, backed up and was able to restart this time, but this is where it gets weird. It's running Gingerbread, but is displaying the Vegan 5.1.1 desktop. I restarted and it started back into Gbread desktop but I shut it down for the night and in the morning it was back to 5.1.1. Kind of a bummer at the moment. Everything else seems fine but I really liked the Gbread desktop with the sidebars, etc (as an aside, when it is on the 5.1.1 desktop I can't add certain widgets like the google search bar and it gives an error that "no space on this homescreen" or on any other for that matter. Any ideas? I have backed up via titanium apps+data to external sdcard, and correct me if I'm wrong, but if I had to reinstall again, would that save me the hastle of reloading all the apps? I can live with it as is though I'm a stickler for the details.
Thanks for the advice/ideas.
TB will restore all apps and data so your good there. When you reflash you just need to side load TB and then batch restore all user apps and data.
At this point I would nvflash back to stock using the stock image with cwm installed and pop in vegan7 again.
I was fearing that. I got this for the wife. She's been hastling me for an ipad for months so I got her this (or maybe for me, who's to say really?). Anyhow, she's like a hawk and I've had to sneak away to try and get it working and had to ask her to reload her apps etc. Then I had to suffer the "what do you mean it's hacked? why didn't you just get the ipad?" etc, etc, etc. I'll try your advice next time she's out and leaves it behind. Fingers crossed she doesn't find out or it will be all kinds of Wrath of Khan up in here...
