Hi All,
Hope this is the right location - now I have accidently moved the framework-res.apk out of the system/framework folder, totally by accident after trying to copy it to a different destination.
Now my Archos 70 won't turn on, it gets to the bootanimation and just sits there, lagging away like hell and not loading.
I've tried a disk check and a reset of android from the recovery menu but no luck, this is on UrukDroid 7.0 by the way.
Any ideas on how I go about getting it working without yet another reformat?
Kind regards.

Install the stock firmware via recovery then fix your urukdroid install. Then oyu should be able to boot into urukdroid.
Hi mate,
Thanks for the response - how'd you go about fixing UrukDroid?
Regards.
Just installed the stock firmware again via the Recovery Meny and no change with the Developer Edition or UrukDroid, still stuck on the Bootanimation. . . .
Poo - thats yet another re-format I'll have to do, god knows how many times in the past blooming weeks.

Hi mate,
I can't boot into UrukDroid to copy the file in, so how do I get past that one?
What happens is it passes the Uruk boot screens then onto the bootanimation, which is so laggy is almost stops, from there it fails to load, previously I have left it for hours and It's never loaded.
I can boot into stock android OK.
Thanks.

And when booted in stock can't you copy the framework-res to the uruk installed location?
I didn't think it was possible to access the SDE files through stock?

It all depends where your urukdroid was installed but from what i gather the installation is done on the internal flash under /mnt/storage or if you have used the external install it's on your sd card.
Nout there for me I'm afraid - I'll just do anohter re-format, not an issue.
Thanks for your help

You will have to push the new boot animation to the phone via ADB. Search the forums if you need help getting/using ADB.
The location of the default boot animation for CM6 is /system/media/bootanimation.zip
Thanks for your reply. I'm going to try and PM you a link to a screenshot of the files that show when I hook my phone to my computer. I don't have the /system/media files. Thanks again ~Q

You would have to do this with the phone in recovery, and through ADB.
The reason you're not seeing the directory is because your phone is on, and you have it set to transfer files through USB; so it is pulling the directories/etc from your sdcard and not from the phones rom.
Hi there.
Not sure if I'm retarded or what, but I'm following these instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192988
xRecovery can't find the .zip file. I've renamed it 'wolf.zip' even, and nothing. Not sure how to progress.. I've searched to no avail.
which directory you put in?

/sdcard/
I've also tried renaming it to update.zip, and putting it in other folders that are visible on xRecovery. Still can't find the actual .zip
Have u tried finding the file on ur comp? Connect ur phone, enable usb storage and browse the card for the file. What I did was made a folder called Gingerbread in the root directory of the sdcard and placed all necessary wolf rom files in there, that way I know exactly where they are everytime. Just a suggestion.

Yes, that's how I got the file on the SD card to start with. Phone is semi-bricked imo, that might be causing xRecovery to not work properly or something..

Do you have the GB update for xrecover?
Without unlocked bootloader, almost impossible to brick the X10.
Yeah, I ended up using PC companion to bring it up to default ROM, and started again. Mission successful. This time xRecovery worked fine.
As for the -GB update - the link on this forum doesn't work.
Man, I was late, but I think you should try remounting /sdcard. Also, at that time, are you already on SE 2.3.3 GB? If so, what version of xRecovery are you using? You need xRecovery-GB-Ready for it to work properly on 2.3.
Anyway, here's the link to Generic 2.3.3.

Yeah, I had stock 2.3.3 GB, rooted. And xRecovery v0.3.
As I said, the one link I found on XDA (and whole internet for that), doesn't work for me. Mediafire link times out or something, can't remember.
Still werid it worked 2nd time..

For your sake I hope you are not retarded .
Are you trying the option install custom.zip or are you selecting the custom zip
?
You must select the file unless the name of the file is actually update.zip, also if the directory of the file has any DOT "." before the name it won't show in there at all.
Any idea why I can't copy CMR backups to my PC? Weird..
I CAN copy, via MTP, everything else. The Clockwork BUs just gag MTP...permissions seem ok...good thing. Can't change them on SD card. Or so says the error...
Edit: It is the "system image" and "cache" files that are the maggot gaggers...I guess CMR won't let go of them. Doesn't matter which BU date I try. hmmm..
You connect to your PC without USB Debug on, and cant copy and paste to your desktop?\
Edit: What are you trying to do? Save a copy on your computer so you can make a fresh backup without taking up more space? Or trying to load the backup on another device?
Tivo7 said:

I can copy/paste everything except Clockwork Recovery backups. When I try to copy the CMR BUs, I get kicked out of MTP with an error to the effect of "a device attached to the system is not functioning"....then have to do the unplug/replug USB dance. USB debugging is off.

Freeing up space and making secondary backups to PC. Wireless transfers won't work either for CMR backups. Everything else WILL copy. Very odd.
..
I copied my CMR backups to an external SD card via the adapter without any problems.
Interesting...

I have the same problem,it is probably because one of the file is very big causing transfer fail. Do you have a cusom rom?

Most interesting. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
I've concluded that there must be something in my clockwork recovery that is not letting go of the file. When I get back to my pc I will connect again to try a new clockwork recovery.

Done..
Looks like the the modded CMR that I had flashed when installing Overcomes's ROM was the culprit. At least I think it had something to do with it. Was able to copy/paste/move correctly when I installed the "stock" CMR...all is well.
Now, to get this tab back to Sammy "stock" and get it back to Amazon (Newton's Rings")...gotta luv Amazon...shipped a replacement next-day...In the meantime, I'm going to do some stock vs. rooted experiments of my own...
thanks, gang!

I may have edited something wrong in build.prop and now my phone won't load after the SONY logo. I would push a stock build.prop if I had CWM but apparently I lost that after following steps to root JB with locked bootloader. All I have now is fastboot and flash mode.
Is there any way to push a file and set permissions using one of these modes? I can reflash ICS and do everything all over again but if I could just push a stock build.prop I think I can avoid the long way.
PS. Can I also get help putting CWM on this phone? I wanna keep bootlock 'coz I'm a purist like that. Lol! :silly:
do any of these modes support mounting \system and \data ??

No, but fastboot can flash an update.zip according to a wiki. I don't think that's the same as a regular flashable zip is it?
Bump 'coz it's really getting tiring to reflash from zero when just one file needs editing.

I ended up with reflashing only SYSTEM partition via Flashtool (don't forget to uncheck "Wipe DATA"). You are going to loose any modification of "/system" (e.g. root) but at least you won't loose your settings, apps and data.
Hey!
A friend of mine has this new tablet - Coby Kyros Mid1060 - and ask me to install Gapps and what was missing...
The thing is... I accidentally renamed the 'boot proper' file original without copying the new one...
So, as you can imagine, i can't boot the tablet, it stucks on 'android' logo...
I've been searching for different ways to reach the file but i can't...
Before doing that renaming operation i managed to root the device and i can get to the recovery menu...
Is there a way to fix this problem?
I appreciate all your advices.
Thank you.
Same Problem
I'm having a very similar problem with that device.
I've deleted the build.prop file while trying to rename it.
Could anyone send me a copy of that file? I'm trying to replace it with an update.zip

Hello.
I'm having the same problem ... Already have some solution?
This worked for me
I made the update.zip file that you could find in attach.
It replaces a build.prop file that will allow a factory reset.
The device will reboot again.
1. copy the file to an microSD
2. plug the microSD in the tablet
3. turn the device on in recovery mode ("volume down" and "on" )
4. select "apply update from sdcard"
5. select the "update-signed.zip" file
6. reboot you device
hope this helps
If you are stuck on the bootlogo, you can always edit/add/replace files in your device. No need for flashable zips.

I don't know... Don't have it..., but I can tell you that the USB debugging was disabled.
android commander is not an app its a windows program. Try connectingyour device to your PC and check android commander. If you have an insecure kernel , you can access the root of your device and make any changes you want.

nevertheless what I did worked for me and is a practical way for people with less skills or knowledge to solve their problem.
With that in mind I posted it.
I tried lots of thins, including connecting the computer to the tablet... nothing worked, but this did. My tablet is working now.
Original rom?
Hi there, is this the original rom file for the MID1060? My tablet is having some problems with the positioning sensor and i need to send it back to warranty, but i've modified it so it can have googleappz on it and i can't restore. Do you think that wth this i can solve it?
