I'm in an area where my optimus v wont work. Only towers that do are Verizon. Can I go to Verizon and hook it up or hack it to work on Verizon's towers? Thanks

Virgin Mobile does not allow roaming so even if you can get your phone to connect to the Verizon towers you won't get any service off a verizon tower.
Verizon also won't activate it on their network since it's not their phone. There's really no legal way to get you ov onto Verizon's network.

AFAIK the only difference between S and V is the carrier.
Optimus V is Virgin Mobile (Which is actually a daughter company of Sprint)
and Optimus S is Sprint.
They are both CDMA so they can both use the same ROMs.
Correct me if I'm wrong, anybody?

I think there are small differences, such as button mapping. IHO has a special Optimus S CM7 ROM, so don't worry, your friend can have some Cyanogen on his phone too

Sprint is LS970.
E971 is Rogers.
Confirm they proper model #.
LG Optimus G E971/3/5
AT&T using the GSM/UMTS Network, Sprint & Verizon are CDMA, Rogers, Telus & Bell are also GSM/UMTS so you need to stick with the carrier technology for the phone to work.
The issue with using a sprint ls970 is it lacks a sim card slot. There is a sim card mod for it but unless you are comfortable with a soldering iron then I wouldn't do it. Also you'll have to build a custom ROM to support it. So its possible but will take a fair bit of work.

my LG Motion is on the fritz so in the market for a new phone. I'm on a budget, but i found a used LG OPTIMUS G E970 for a reasonable price & also a Pantech Discover P9090 for $40 cheaper. If i'm correct both would work with Metro, but which would be the better choice? Naturally it would be rooted
Doesn't metro use cdma? If it is a gsm network that metro uses them go for it bro

yea, they were bought out by t-mobile? so we're on their network now. i'm liking the Optimus, but if i grab it i'll have to spring for a new sim card. The discover has same sim slot as my motion though.

So your T-Mobile phone was locked to T-Mobile and worked without having to be carrier unlocked?
Why would it need to be unlock when MetroPCS GSM network is riding on TMO?

Lmfaooo... Not even gonna say anything
I am with Metro PCS, had a HTC ONE M7 Verizon and HTC ONE M7 T-Mobile(which I'm currently using). Both times I unlocked the phones to make it work. Just sharing experience.
Best Regards!
