I'm in an area where my optimus v wont work. Only towers that do are Verizon. Can I go to Verizon and hook it up or hack it to work on Verizon's towers? Thanks

Virgin Mobile does not allow roaming so even if you can get your phone to connect to the Verizon towers you won't get any service off a verizon tower.
Verizon also won't activate it on their network since it's not their phone. There's really no legal way to get you ov onto Verizon's network.

I wouldn't exactly know how to this but I just wanted to let you know be careful with roaming on verizons network. Obviously in sprints eyes that's grounds for dismissal without an eta. It's only so much roaming you can do before you get the boot so be careful.

Your not roaming at true 3g btw. Roaming sticks it in 1xrtt. I tried changing my epst settings to HDR and CDMA HDR only, which it stills says 1xrtt 99.99% of the time

Look up change prl in of EVO board ..... It will give u instructions to install a Verizon or any other prl and will let u roam on 3g ...

Not always true. If you live in a former Alltel area, you can roam on Verizon 3G. I get about 700 kbps-1.2 mbps when roaming on Verizon where I live.
This is because Verizon is required to uphold the Sprint/Alltel roaming agreement terms until the agreement ends, and part of the agreement is EVDO roaming in Alltel coverage areas.
I also think that when roaming on US Cellular its EVDO but I'm not sure and I don't know from experience as Verizon (formerly Alltel) is Sprint primary roaming partner where I live.

That's what I did. Prl 00001. Though its not as fast as sprints 3g for me where I'm at. It does work though.

Went to Yellowstone this week and couldn't figure out why my rooted 3vo would say 1x while my lady's stock 3vo would say 3g. Seems like this cleared up some confusion. Tnx

All it says are you are on a custom ROM that is modified to show 1x and all stock roms will just show 3g , but will still be on 1x . I hate the way they do it I like to know what system I am on .

I use roam control and it barely makes a difference. It roams on US Cellular, I barely have any signal and the data is s-l-o-w.
Roam control does not do the same thing as what he is doing .... When using Verizon prl the network sees your phone as a alltell phone and allows you full access to their network ... Full speed roaming

I just moved to Huntsville AL and my phone will not work in my house or at work. I am looking at switching to T-Mobile but I want to keep this phone.
How do I get T-Mobile to use this phone?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
you can't have your cdma 3d on tmobile.. if u want tmobile get the comparable sensation.. or if u want to keep sprint and just need service in your home call them and get a free airrave its like a mini cell tower inside your home.
If you have the Sprint Evo 3D, then it won't work with T-Mobile as T-Mobile is a GSM network, unlike Sprint, which is a CDMA network.
You would need a GSM Evo 3D, like this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-HTC-EVO...0713039770?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item35b7919b9a
My Evo 3D (model number PG86300) would work with T-Mobile, as well as with T-Mobile 3G and T-Mobile 4G, but does not work with Sprint.
Can't use the airwave since I do not have internet. I use my phone for internet. I might have to sell it. I have the 3D and a EVO shift to sell. I have to wait for sprint to cancel me for roaming 100% of the time.

I am looking at switching to T-Mobile. My sprint service sucks in Alabama. Before I switch I wanted to test T-Mobile's prl for coverage.
So does anyone have the .prl file for T-Mobile?

Don't believe CDMA devices can operate on GSM networks unless you're possibly on a world phone. Sorry.
Via My HTC Evo 3D On The Now Network From Sprint.
Yea EVO won't work on there network unless u have gsm version witch u don't cause u said ur with Sprint

I no longer have Sprint service so I was considering flashing it to Metro PCS as I had their service before and was satisfied with it and they have 4G service in my area even though Sprint doesn't alas wimax and LTE are not compatible so that doesn't matter, so I was considering Boost Mobile since it's Sprint and I'm assuming it'd probably be the simplest and best bet for possible 4G then I noticed it seemed like a lot of people on this forum were using Cricket and I've been hearing a commercial on the radio about them being in my area. They all seem to have similar coverage for my area and I know Metro and Boost have 3G where as Cricket didn't specify but I'm assuming they'd have to at least if they expect to compete. So I'm asking which service you all think I should go with, to get the most out of my phone. Thanks
I would go for metro

boost
I was thinking of flashing to boost, but I have the infected rom and not sure if that will be affected.
I have mine on cricket just make sure you do the changes after you flash a ROM or you'll have to do it again..
Ps what one is the best depends on where you live in the city here cricket way better then Verizon in the sticks not as much
Also smooth I'm on infected to it works fine...at least with cricket

OK so I have to pick a custom rom first if I want to use one that's very good to know.
Any recommendations for the best rom to run with Metro PCS?
Do boost!!! Do not to metro.....unless you're in the perfect area...you wont get 3g on metros garbage network. Its the been the hardest thing to achieve....do cricket or boost....roms don't matter as long as you have the provisioning right

Sprint is LS970.
E971 is Rogers.
Confirm they proper model #.
LG Optimus G E971/3/5
AT&T using the GSM/UMTS Network, Sprint & Verizon are CDMA, Rogers, Telus & Bell are also GSM/UMTS so you need to stick with the carrier technology for the phone to work.
The issue with using a sprint ls970 is it lacks a sim card slot. There is a sim card mod for it but unless you are comfortable with a soldering iron then I wouldn't do it. Also you'll have to build a custom ROM to support it. So its possible but will take a fair bit of work.
