I have one problem ... i like these ROMs but I use quite a lot video messages with MMS and I have only few solution.
I am surprised that many of the devs go on put ALL their attention on HD for video rather than compression
2.1 could be the safe solution but it is slow compared to froyo .... and cyan is nice
At the moment I use wolfbreak wonderful ROM but I pulled the Camera from Zizou because that version gives the 3GP video options ... does not matter to me a missing audio sinchro... better not shyncro than nothing
I am very sorry to say that the most beautiful ROM (MIUI from trip) does not support video messages .... as soon I try to insert MMS settings the camera crashes. I asked two times on that topic but apparently I was transparent or the subject was not of interest ... or there was no interest in raising the subject....
Finally
1) Please Please please... someone has alternative solutions ?
2) to devs..... please take in accontunt that the quality of a software is measured also by its flexibiliy not only by the best performance that can achieve

Right, but which version of their respective rom have the video call capability?
Which is why it would be real handy if the chef could indicate which of their ROM have video call capability.
My carrier just roll out 3G (after years of wrestling for license with government for 3G rollout license) and thus only i realized that so far i never even bother to test out the video call. and when i did, only to discover that the *latest* rom doesnt have this function. Kinda weird, lolz

I just installed the 7/2009 English version of Monx's ROMeOS2 Windows Mobile 6.5 for the HTC Touch Pro on my HTC Fuze. The phone screens for it have the option to make video calls on AT&T Mobility's 3G network, though I haven't used it to date.

Monx firmware had been labelled as "payware", and thus i dont see it's existance here in xda-developer forums.

Im also still looking. Still stuck on a July version of energyrom which is extremely stable (EnergyROM RAPHAEL 20090714 Standard_RD) would be great to have a new ROM with video call and stability, and the menu layout of an energyrom..

Hmmm Sense 2.5 maybe not yet the best choice for people who are looking for some "stable" rom. Every rom with Sense 2.5 has complaints about various trouble. Chiefs are doing there best but it's not totally the stablest one
I am using Tael 6.5 v 23420.5.3.00
Its v2.23420 [WWE][MANILA]. It has video call. I tested and it works. I was like you, needing video calls as i converse with clients overseas, video conferencing.
It would really be helpful for chefs to have an inclusion of whether their ROMs are video call supported. Energy roms AFAIK are not supported. Thats why i switched to Tael.
I wish more cooks would just add the feature! 3G is all over europe but not so big in the states from what I understand...
Thus the reason, so few cooks emplimenting video call into their roms... Maybe if there were more Euro-Cooks!!
I would cook if I had the brain capacity. lol

Mods? surely they could indicate to all the chefs. They do it for Microsoft Voice Command so not sure why they can't for Video calls..
I might try TAEL tonight and try and remove the green backgrounds and make the menu lay out like energyroms (the only 2 reasons why I haven't switched.)

God, so many questions! I'll answer fast:
1. No.
2. I think you mean Play instead of Record. There are a lot of video apps in the market, one must be able to do that at least.
3. What the hell is a video DJ app??? I think you are looking for a video edition app, go to the MARKET!
4. You need to do a ext3 partition, and then apps2sd will work. ext3 and 4 can't be read normally, so can't really see the apps in your sd, but you can find them all in /data/app.
5. Yes, but only based on the official rom.
6. Not that much, but you need experience in android, all kinds of it.
7. skyfire is ****, and flash doesn't really work for our phones... just loads some random videos.
8. You can't. Skyfire is laggy, that's how it works. youtube should work fine.
9. Download Launcher Pro.
10. No idea.

currently working on criskelo's latest rom and was wondering...
is this something we all have or is it due to the rom ?
whenever i send a picture as an mms... (directly from the cam app after the pic is taken or from the gallery)... the mms size is hardly 20-30kb's (i know there's a provider limit of 300-400kb per mms/ well atleast with Etisalat here in the U.A.E)
on original roms... does compression in mms work the pic down the same way ( to very small sizes ) ?
sending mms when looking at details is a bad idea >_< but when u have 100 free mms a month that doesn't count in the data package u simply have to use it...
i know i could email the picture to maintain full clarity but on a tight data plan, thats a lot of mb's >_<
so could ya'll help me out and tell me if the original roms compress as much as other custom roms? or maybe even make a list to compare how the compression differs... thanx in advance ^_^

Stock ROM is the same. I use handcent now which leaves the image far less compressed (typically 200-400kbyte), but it doesn't use the orientation info in the photo and so you can get photos sent sideways (portrait orientation photos). So now portrait I use standard messaging, landscape I use handcent.

I just moved to ICS and have experienced this issue. Before on GB it was just fine (arround 300kb)... but now it's sadness(15kb)...

It's called : PAPER CAMERA,
but the native android application doesn't work, and others too...
Still why does this work with paper camera and, (it's silly because if they didn't add filter i could recorder some video through the apps.
If someone can look into it, or ask to PAPER CAMERA developers would be great
it would be great for getting an apps working with ICS or

Yeah, my english isn't perfect, and I don't see the connection with my post that is there to provide information that could solve a problem on ICS video recording, but hey next time, I could do without the desire to give information / advice. Besides the fact that deletes a post because I made a duplicate unintentionally, and remove the one with full title
I do not ask the developer changed the application of CAMERA PAPER, only to see why it works and making the change in the native android application.
In short, I would have done better to have no consideration, and you want to help you be bored !

as far i understand you video cam doesnt work... am i right? update the ROM or reflash it. its been a while since SGS2 camera works just fine. even on AOSP.

Hello all, just updated my to ATT/ICS last week and thought this feature was to be included in the 4.0? After searching here for a bit I can't find any info. Wondering is there a way to do this with out rooting the phone or running a different launcher. TIA

that feature is available on Google's version of ICS, which is AOSP, but also in AOKP/CM9, I have AoCP from The Collective Team and I have full screen caller id, if you're running stock , well that's AT&T/Samsung's fault for not adding it to their dialer, you can try this app out and see if you like it, I don't think you need root for it or anything else. good luck

Looked through all the options I can find in CM9 (h0tw1r3, not the official CM9) and can't find anything about it.
I don't have contact pictures for 75% of my contacts, and the ones I do have are seemingly tiny images that look terrible on the Note full screen.

the moment someone woudl sync with google .. there server saves the pics very samll so it woudl look bad for everyoneanyway.. thatfeature has been present on htc devices for a long time and i had a mod on my previous samsung phone rom to allow big pictures full res ,but you woudl have to NOT sync google contacts automaticallly and save them to vcard on your phone so you can reload the full res pictures , this issue has been on going since the first android device go look at google 's error reports youll see tht threads is thousands of pages ppl com:laugh::laugh::laughlaining .
