Step one: You need to root your phone
Step two: buy Root Explorer and install it on your phone.
Step three: Install Xrecovery
Step four: Download a custom rom of you choice, copy it to your SD card,
Step five: Reboot phone and go to Xrecovery. Choose the file and flash it.
Just a fast explanation. Check the faq posted above my post.

Can you help me!!!please i want to hack my xperia x8...but i don't know how to do!
Can you give me a video guide or a simple guide please?
Thanks in advance!
You find all information on Development area.
Just choose one ROM and follow the instructions there.
Good luck!
I think you need to root your phone and install xrecovery before you can install ROMs
yaa..go to development forum then choose 1 rom..
First root your phone with SuperOneClick or other app
install xrecovery
choose rom
use xrecovery to install it
1. Root yr phone using superoneclick(usb) or universal androot (apk).
2. Install root explorer(in phone) or adb shell (on pc).
3. Follow the instructions for xrecovery installation from development thread.
4. Flash latest(015) baseband and build (2.1.1.0.6)
5. Flash roms of ur choice.....
For modules like overclock, pinch zoom etc once root explorer is installed all modules can be loaded by just extracting and copying them to system/lib/modules and editing hw_config.sh .... instuctions are available at development threads.

All you need is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=921652
I've downloaded it. But how to install? The file that I extracted did not have .ftf file
Maaan, every single custom rom has to be installed trough a recovery. Use xrec or FreeXperia rec.
Edit: And make sure you are runing baseband 49 or 52 before flashing. (52 is recomended)
You need to use xrec, to flash ROMs
As above, us xRecovery. Go to install custom zips, and find the ROM zip, and install it. It will take a while. But make sure you have the right BB version. Use Flashtool to install different BaseBands.
hoho..thanks..it worked.
Please read the threads when you download anything. All questions can be answered by simply reading and guides to install anything on these forums are readily available.

Help for you...
Here, try this...

^^ this is the flash tool you must use if you don't have the proper baseband. MIUI is at its best with .49 or .52 baseband
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=960527
^^Go here if you don't have proper baseband. They have both .49 and .52
The link (which obviously leads to another webpage) also has a tutorial link at the bottom of the post. It will guide you thru the flashing process if your not sure how to do it.
But as the others have said above, you simply use xRecovery to flash the ROM. Just like you would with any other ROM, follow these steps...
1. Boot into xRecovery
2. Go to install custom.zip
3. Go to downloads folder (or whatever folder you put the ROM in)
4. Find the .zip file that is your ROM
5. Then simply install it!
Also, when you put the .zip file of the ROM on your SD Card, its preferable to create a folder called "downloads" (no quotes) and then put the .zip file of the ROM in that folder. For some reason whenever you put the .zip file in any other folder, it wont find it. (Just from personal experience)
If you have any more questions just PM me or whatever. Good Luck

If you have installed CWM (which you really should as this is your pathway to all the modding and custom roms).
Then you can flash via CWM this tiny root package.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1159572
would you please help me installing CWM?
All you gotta do is download it off the market and let it install.

Do not install the one off the market, it can't wipe data properly, doesn't support external SD card and might have other bugs.
Use the lastest CWM from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138541
Which would be : latest: recovery-en-goapk-0625-2034.zip
Use instructions from here, they are very straightforward:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154600
The instructions you need start with "INSTALL CWM RECOVERY:"
installing CWM needs root?!
step 3:
3) Use *Root Explorer* or some other file explorer app to navigate to: /system/etc. Look and see if there is a file there named "install_recovery.sh" If it is there, then delete it. If it is not, then you are ok to proceed to the next step
i want CWM to rooting my phone!

For now, you can just navigate to that folder and check if "install_recovery.sh" is there. If it's not there, then you don't need to do this step.

The Root explorer app bypasses non rooted phones. Don't worry I thought the same thing you did. Just buy the app. Its worth it anyways.

First of all you need to unlock bootloader and for that you need to have access to a computer.
After that, you need to flash a custom recovery using adb, and I guess you still need a computer for that.
Once, the above 2 steps are done, you can flash supersu using mobile.
