MMS work for anyone? (Froyo) - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone have working mms on any froyo roms? If so, which rom and kernel?

If this does happen to NOT be a troll post, I have no issues with MMS on superclean 2.9.2 and JT's voodoo ec10 kernels

NOT a troll post at all, so we'll end that there.
Have a couple friends on DarkREVENGE 2 and their MMS doesn't work. So I'm trying to help fix it. And I'll run that setup for them and hope for success. Thanks.

Mine works and I'm running sc2.9.1 with comavolt kernel.

No offense but making multiple threads posting questions about a old rom sounds very trollish. Version 2.0 has reported mms issues that was fixed in version 3.0 and now its on 4.0. Your friends want a fix then update the rom.

This is the best advice before going through a lot of troubleshooting and trying out different ROMs, have them update to v4.0 of DR since like bwhxeon said, the mms issue was fixed in v 3.0

No offense taken. I made two threads in two different sections, made the general one first without thinking about the Q&A section, and I was mobile at the time, no way to delete the other. Trust me I wouldn't troll. Thanks, I'll send them the newest or SC.

Is there a half decent rom for this phone?

ive read some of the threads and not been encouraged. basically looking for a 2.2 based rom, no less capability than stock. I mean whats the point in flashing a phone if I cant even use stereo bluetooth? Looking for better processing speed, no bloatware, faster internet speeds, but not losing stock abilitys
gingerbread themes would be a plus

As far as most of us in this forum are concerned its Adrynalyne's Super Clean ROM's here are links to his ROMS and his new kernal.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=983395 ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=995015 Kernal
I have tried just about everything out there and this works much better IMO than anything else, especially stock.
EDIT: You will need to look around in this section for themes that work with the version of rom you use, but there are alot of GB ones in there. http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=722

ROMs (and kernels for that matter) cannot give you faster internet speeds. The only thing that will give you a faster connection will be a better signal, and the only thing on your phone that can give you a better signal that you can change is the modem. What ROMs and kernels can do is make the connection more consistent, so the connection speed doesn't fluctuate as much, but that is the best you could hope for.

there is no throttling enabled in the kernel or rom. Any throttling Verizon is going to do is on the network side, and no kernel or rom you flash is going to do anything to fix it. The issue with the stock kernel, at least the Eclair one, was that during periods of high data usage, the kernel drivers weren't coded well and they would easily bog down under load due to the issues and cause heavy fluctuation in your connection speeds. SirGatez fixed the issue in his Eclair kernel, and I'm sure that when the Froyo source is released, or if he gets the i9000 source working, he'll do the same thing again with that. But, there is no throttling or other bandwidth control setup.

A rom is, as good as the operator and what that operator may have installed on his or her device. Sod, mms, and clock lag and other issues are not the fault of the rom.

good day.
Another +1 for super clean.
As a further example of how complications are usually the fault of the user..... I was rooted running S.C. 2.9.1 voodoo EB16 Kernal and I starting having restart problems and even a bootloop at one point.... This was not the ROM but a theme I had decided to flash over it. Anything outside of what is provided for you in the Super Clean threads is a gamble.
Currently after returning to stock I am running the same set-up minus the theme and am having no issues. Running smoother and faster than ever.

People really need to read the rules before posting like you're supposed to. This has nothing to do with development, and doesn't belong here. Keep these questions in Q&A or General. THIS is why the devs don't like XDA.

FWIW, it seems to happen to everyone at some point.
Now, back to the original Q, I'm currently using Adryn's EC01 (Rom + Radio) and it seems to be working well. I HAD been using the DL09 modem for the last few weeks b/c of reception quality, but I decided to go for it and upgrade to EC01
I'm getting pretty good battery life and even better reception than before, but I liked the dark black theme of SC 2.9.2.
I'd say you should give ec01 a shot.
Be ye forewarned though: First boot, mine asked if I wanted to do a VZW over-the-air update. probably not a great idea. lol.
We should enforce some sort of temporary ban on these idiots. Follow the damn rules.

After nitsuj17 informed him that this is in the wrong section, is it really necessary for ten other people to point it out?
I'm running SC 2.9.2 with the EC01 radio and jt's EB01 kernel (non-voodoo) and my phone is working like a champ. Excellent reception, instant GPS lock, nice theme, and great battery life. I'm waiting to see what this "community project" is before I switch roms again.

As for the actual question, why not try jt's CM7? It's very stable and I've been using it without issue. Though it does have the same bugs as the MIUI ROM.

Okay, I guess I wasn't clear in my last response to you so let me rephrase what I said in that other thread:
There is no good reason whatsoever to use DJ05. Even if you want to run Eclair, it's still outdated.
Why you'd choose Eclair over Froyo (or Gingerbread, if you don't mind some problems) is a mystery to me, but again, even if you want to run 2.1 instead of 2.2 or 2.3 DJ05 is the wrong choice.
EDIT: Also, as the above poster hinted at, please do read the stickied posts, particularly this one about posting in the wrong section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038478

Nothing wrong with "plain CM7", but Birgertime's version is hardly a knockoff. If it weren't for him, we'd still be using mute/unmute on calls in CM7 and GPS would still not work. Many of his fixes have been rolled back into the official CM7 for Vibrant.

No intention of knocking any of the other Dev's here at all. In most cases that "I've" seen, ROMS built off of CM7 which already has issues of its own, tend to have more issues than not. I haven't tried any other GB ROM other than CM7 so I don't have any experience with them. I do know CM7 has worked perfectly for me so far, and I do know most of the problems encountered are from the end users.
Cheers
EDIT: Is phiremod even Birgertime's ROM? It's also built off of CM7 #74.

[Q] What is the best Froyo Rom For Vibrant?

Looking for a good stable froyo rom that flys. I am currently using Fisherman's Moded version of Bionix 1.3 melted butter. I used to use trigger v3.2 and I really liked how everything was simple but didn't like how slow it was. Any suggestions?
Bionix was always my favorite, but to each their own. There are many 2.2 roms here. Only way to find out which works best for you is to, unfortunately, try them.

Yeah I took that piece of Sh*t back to bestbuy and got a new one. Prime out of the box DL's the ICS update automatically and if you choose it install, that's where the problem starts.
I told myself that I wasn't going to do the update but I accidentally pressed the update button lol! It's running good now I guess I just had a bad one thanks
I'm also using Bionix-V 1.3.1 Fishman mod (FINAL). I have yet to apply the FINAL 2 update, but everything seems to work great and the speed is awesome. I like the smoothness of the TW4 launcher that was included in the ROM, but it lacks some abilities that other launchers provide. Just wish the pesky wifi calling echo issue would be resolved without having to lower the in-call volume.

Hmm. Perhaps it's the version of the .apk that I am using (had to download/install it separately since it wasn't originally included w/ the rom)? I've had the echo for a while (although I can't remember now if I had it on the original bionix 1.3.1). I know it's been an issue for other people on other roms as well.
Anyway, don't mean to digress or to move this topic in a different direction than the OP.
EDIT: Just for clarification, the echo doesn't happen on my end, only the other person's side... no matter if I made the call or they did. But again... I digress.
