Backup SMS - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have over 10,000 texts on my HTC hero and my phone is ridiculously sluggish. I'd like to somehow backup all of my SMS to somewhere, so I can still read them, while starting fresh on my phone, and every new texts gets automatically updated to this said location.
I tried SMS backup +, but they get backed up in gruoped 100's and it's pretty strange.
Thanks.

See if there are any good apps for you here: https://market.android.com/search?q=sms+backup&so=1&c=apps
SMS Backup does a backup to your gmail account, sms backup & restore lets you backup in xml and other formats, and I think TxtArchive SMS Backup does what you describe, although I don't know for sure,, you should give it a try

Best Backup For Apps / SMS / ETC

I use nandroid to do full system backups, but usually only do those when I'm about to flash something. I'd like to do be able to back up apps, sms messages, etc,. Sometimes I'll flash something, use it for a while, and then go back to the nandroid restore, but that takes me back to where I lose messages, etc...
Seen MyBackupPro, but not sure if there are better options?
Thanks, JP
Titanium backup can do all of that but... for some reason on the SGS it does not backup txt messages but does for app, app data, system data, etc.
Titanium Backup.
It even has a new function to remove bloatwares now.
I'll be the random voice of dissent.. I wasn't too impressed with Titanium Backup. I use SMS Backup to sync all my messages to GMail (threaded, labeled, marked as read and archived - can't think of a better place to get them stored, searchable and safe). And I'm a longtime believer in reinstalling apps fresh on new installs. It takes a few minutes to reload with AppBrain and Web Install.
Titanium Backup
SMS Backup+ (the one by Jen somebody I think is the name... a chick name). She tool SMS Backup and made it better.

Titanium backup - messages and People not working..

Hi Folks
I used Titanium backup to backup my apps and stuff but it can never restore my contacts or any text messages. Even though it says that it has restored the data.
I cna restore games and other stuff no probs but the 2 most important things in a phone cannot be restored.
Anyone got any tips on how to get it to work?
Cheers
Kenny
I dont think Titanium backs up contacts or texts. Use sms backup and restore from the market to backup your texts. As for contacts, sync them to your gmail account and they will automatically be downloaded if the google servers see they are missing, like when you install a new rom for example
That, or use the Contacts Import / Export option from within the Contacts/People App. Works flawlessly everytime.
Thanks for the info folks!

SMS backup what to use

Hi, i was used to using MyBackupPro and later TitaniumBackup for SMS backup on my previous android phone.
Now i have tried MybackupPro, TitaniumBackup, SMS Backup+ and all 3 does not work on Optimus!!!
When i open message app after restore it simply stays black with SMS backup and MyBackuPro, it owers my force close or w8, i have w8ed a long time it stays black..
With Titanium backup it opens normaly and even shows the number of messages per thread, but when i open it is empy, but i gues this is not working couse of restoring SMSes from 2.2.1 app to 2.2app on Optimus.
Could it be an issue with 3000SMSes at once backed up? But it worked for me on Milestone...
What else can i try OMG.
I hate google doesnt provide claud backup for SMS, same as it does for contacs/calendar/..
Edit:
Lol it worked a minute after i posted this thread. Lol it took almost an hour of black screen for app to start, now works perfectly! SMS Backup+ works perfect, does what google should do himself, i can read SMS in Gmail now

[Q] Not backed up SMS database still intact after flashing new rom

I just performed a full wipe of my HTC One M7 and flashed a new rom. Once it was done I downloaded Titanium backup from the Play Store and restored all my backed up data. Note that I didn't back up my SMS messages with Titanium, just my SMS app, Textra.
Once it was done I opened up Textra and all my messages were sitting there just as they were before the wipe.
I'm pretty sure that Google doesn't backup things like SMS messages, so where did they come from?

Click to collapse
Text messages will be stored as data for the Textra app so when restoring Textra it will likely restore messages too.

Can't restore all SMS, only a few with any app I try.

I've tried so many apps I'm losing track... basically everything in google store that has "sms" and "backup" in the title. I have a non-rooted S7 edge that I'm trying to move everything off to an LG v30. When I do a backup of SMS, either to SD card or to Google drive, if I look at the XML file, all the messages are there, but after the restore, I only get a few threads from 2017?? I'm completely stumped.
I believe you can use your Samsung account to backup all of your text messages....................that way you can restore at a later time. I do a backup of mine about every other week just in case something happens to my phone.
