I have flashed Eyelinux 1.8 and for anyone wondering it is really great and i would strongly reccomend it.
I have the youtube app but it doesn't play video in HQ. It plays it fine when HQ is unchecked but when HQ is checked it just plays the sound.
What is the fix for this?
I heard some people saying that they got it to work in another thread by installing an older version but i'm not sure which version to install!!
Please help.
Thanks
I've got exactly the same problem on my Hero with Floyo 1.2.0. But I don't know how to fix the problem...
Salu2
maybe this has something to do with the infamous "black screen"/out of memory bug in android 2.3? Just a wild guess.
I still have sound playing.
The annoying thing is they solved it in the other thread but i can't post there because it's a development thread.
I'll try a PM
It is not a bug with Ele's rom but an incompatibility between our Hero and the HQ decoding. It does not work any GingerBread Rom, as far I know. I just turn off the HQ to continue enjoying my videos...

I have been jumping all around trying various ROMs. So far, I like VeganTab GB the best. However, there is 1 bug I cant seem to get past and it only affects me in VeganTab GB and CM7 which its based off of.
Playing back m4v files that I created in Handbrake, I get very laggy\Choppy playback. This doesn't happen in any of the other roms I have tried (VeganTab 5.1.1, TNT Lite 4.4.0).
I would post this in the VeganTab GB thread but I do not yet have enough posts to reply in that forum.
Any suggestions on anything I could try to fix this?
Thanks
What video player are you using? I was having similiar issues until I started using rockplayer and enabled hardware acceleration. My tab now plays everything I throw at it without issue.

Thanks. I checked it out and it does resolve my issue. Interestingly enough, if i use it in hardware accellerated mode, i get the ssme crappy performance.
Makes me wonder if i actually have a driver issue for the underlying issue.
Now if i could just get swype on here for easier 1 finger typing...
hardware acceleration is broken in Gingerbread
That explains that. Rockplayer is a fine workaround until its fixed. Now to hack swype onto this thing...
I have install the lastest version tonight and I loaded a few videos and none are playing anyone having this issue??? I tried the standard Videos Program and also doubletwist and mVideoplayer? Any suggestions???
All Gingerbread based ROMs are going to have some issues with video playback because there are no hardware drivers for the Tegra 2 chipset that the GTablet is based off (Harmony dev board).
So you will get software decoding only, hardware accelerations isn't going to be there.
All my videos work but when im in the web browser using flash 10.2 fixed it plays the video in slight fast forward no sound on hulu
If you haven't already done so you need to post your issue in the ROM's thread so GoJimi will be aware of the issue if he doesn't already know about it.

i would but i can't post in the developers section
Aside from the hardware acceleration issue, have you tried Rock Player, or Vplayer, I've had much success with those two.
I have actually had a random audio issue since day one so I'm RMA's mine and I flashed it back to stock now got super irritated last night with the Audio issue and then not being able to play any videos that were playing in Vegan 5.1.1! Wanted to love the tablet but I seem to be at my wits end with it! We'll see what happens!
The only videos I can get working are MP4 videos that were converterd for my Iphone.
I tried xvid, wmv, mkv, and avi. None of these will play on any of my video players(Act 1,mVideo,RockPlayer,VitalPlayer). This is the first android tablet I ever modded(VegAn-Ginger edition). Maybe I'm missing something.
Until full hardware acceleration exists, your best best is a Froyo mod like VEGAN-Tab or Brilliant Corners.
However, even those mods may disappoint you. Remember, it's not container support thats the problem (AVI / MKV / MP4 are containers), it's audio / video codec support. People confuse the two, but it's why some MKV's play and other don't, or why some have audio and some don't.
Honeycomb is even worse - my Xoom couldn't even play back WMV's that my GTAB could. But in Android's defense, it's not like the iPad is a heck of a lot better - it's OOTB support is pitiful. Granted, there are a lot of third party players, but some of them aren't free.
Running latest CM7 and have tried about all the netflix apk out there.
None worked so I gave up.
Closest I came was audio working, black screen (no video)
Today I was browsing the internet and the same problem occured when trying to play an embeded youtube video. (audio but no video)
So now Im assuming its a problem with flash?
If anyone could help me out I'd greatly appreciate it!
Thanks

Netflix doesn't use flash on android, they stream stuff natively using stagefright and the OMX media framework. Though those 2 problems could be related, it's not due to flash. It's probably a problem with the system media libraries, but plenty have gotten media to work just fine on cm7.
So how do I go about making it work?
No idea, I would read through the CM7 development thread for related issues to yours. I don't use CM7 right now since it's too unstable so I can't debug and tell you directly. I just know what it isn't from my own messing with netflix and debugging it from trying to port the needed libraries to froyo. Some else might be able to chime in and give you a solution
Are you running the latest version of CM7?
yes running latest version
I got CM7 and NetFlix works perfect for me.......
CM7 06152011
Kernel - 2.6.35.13 Nerozehl Dream 2.0.3 Beta_AOSP+
Baseband 1.16.00.0223r
Netflix - Ver 1.2.1 build 843839-1.2.0-30
Hope that helps!

If you watch videos encoded in high quality resolutions above 854x480, H.264 or MPEG4 and a pretty high bitrate, you might notice that video playback is laggy and not fluid with custom ROMs. This flashable zip package is supposed to fix that.
Tested
Stable - Any ROM based on stock 2.3.3 (Wolfs TW Gingerbread, Blue Sparks, Ultima GB etc.)
Stable - Most xRecovery-based CM7 ROMs (ZMOD, SpaarcMOD, FreeXperia Sony UI Achotjan etc.)
Stuck on boot - MIUI ROMs
Untested
FXP CM7 (won't work anyways since it uses CWM)

EDIT: I've uploaded a test video to check whether video decoder lag is present or not.
http://puu.sh/5j8h/SmoothnessTest.mp4 (854x480, H.264, 5 mbit/s)
If it stutters during playback, that's an indication that the video is lagging.
This fix will not eliminate the problem but will reduce the lag by a huge margin.
I noticed this while watching videos with camera panning, they looked very juddery.
Anyone tried this? Just wondering what the original problem was.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
So, this should enable me (us) to play 720p Youtube vids?
never notist a problem and if there whas a problem, Z would have notist and came with the solution.
I think i would not flash this before making a back up.

Guys, please play the video in the OP on your phone and see whether it lags or not.

Why do you feel like discouraging people who try to offer something to the community?
On the one hand, there are tons of threads in General section
whining about people moving on from the X10 and development stalling,
and then there are post like yours... It's just not right.
Anyway, @OP, I played the test video and noticed no lags.
Could you explain what is it that you changed in the .so libraries please?
And why some people have the issue and others don't?
Thank you very much!
Okay. Downloaded the files. Tested the video. It does stutter a little.
Tested with scary gov. Running video twice... 22sec at 128mhz. And none over 500mhz! So its not decoding over cpu
P.s. Yes, also did with performance. Same problem.
Now gonna make backup. And then flash file.
Noticed the lag myself. So maybe it's missing a video codec, so it's not using hardware rendering.
I'll flash the fix and see if it works.

It depends.
On modded stock ROMs, if the dev included z's audio lag fix, this problem will surface.
On custom ROMs (CM7 for example), the issue is already there.
This zip simply replaces the libs with those from stock ROM.
PS: It was one of the reasons why I didn't use Froyo custom ROMs.

So, it will give us back the audio lag while listening to music then?

You could have also said this in first Post, right?
flashed it and saw no big difference. I'm on WB4.0.4
Maybe he already included it.
P.s. Your test video is not realy high res ^^ does 1080p work on our phone? Depens on bitrate i guess.

Technically, yes. Personally, I rarely get any audio lags while listening to music except when there's CPU heavy stuff going on like installing a large app from the Market.

I see...
But I got terrible audiolag before Z's fix when listening to music, even when this was the only thing I did (no other tasks running, screen off).

It may be because I'm running a custom kernel. Barely any audio lag.
Is it possible to play the pps.tv with h.264?

Not really. We play HQ YT vids aka 480p
Try DL-ing a 720p or even a 1080p vid and play it... see what happens. Not to mention HD divx/xvid content
P.S. regarding audio lag. I still experience it while underclocking to 128MHz. It's doesn't happen while the sleep FQ is at 245, though
Started having HD video problems with all miui based ROMS, Galnet, standard miui and wiui, videos either start playing and crash, dont play at all or just get a black screen. My recorded video from cam is also choppy. To check it wasnt my phone I loaded the latest chkrom, video played ok.
Want to stay with miui as anything I put on after miui just seems so clunky, anyone else finding this.
Mine does a similar thing although im not on a custom rom, ages ago my phone stopped playing .mkv's and now just recently it wont play certain .avi files or any .flac files at all however it still plays .mp4 fine
Im waiting for the proper ICS release to do a complete wipe and hope they work again.

Ask on the Miui forums ?
Been using Galnet Miui for several months, have never had a problem playing videos of any format with either the native video player or MX. Same with test videos I've taken myself.

cant post on either forum, havent bothered to find out why to be honest as there isnt really much in there in the way of help like on there.
Can you tell me exactly what version you are on now, mine was ok on earlier versions. Everything played smoothly on stock video, mx player and dice, now nothing plays well and sometimes not at all.
Right now I'm using the newest MIUI weekly 2.2.17. The only player that seems to work with all kind of movie files is DicePlayer. All other are causing crashing and other strange issues (specially with HW mode). It should work ok for you as well tbh.
And you know this without even asking there ? Stunning piece of logic there champ
I've used 1.11.9, 2.11.26, 2.1.20 & 2.2.1 with different builds of Siyah and have never had a problem playing any video in any of the common formats on either MX or Galnet Video, nor have I had problems playing back test videos (short. I'm not about to make a 2 hr test video purely to see if it crashes a video player) I've recorded.

will give it a try, on a side note have you even been able to install the reboot options on a standard miui rom that you get with galnet?, tried a couple of times with no joy
i am using ndt miui, so far i didnt see any problem. maybe you can try to update the new one or another miui roms from others developer.
much better with DICE, mx still no longer works though and it was great before, smoother than DICE, not sure whats happend.
