for some reason my phone is reading my text i receive while im on a voice call. it just started doing it recently and i can not figure out how to stop it. please help
What kind of messaging apps do you have installed? Some will have the option to read them out loud to you.
Have you installed any text-to-voice apps? That could also be a culprit.

hi everbdy..
Is there anyone who knows an application which can be used as a call recorder.

There are some in the market just search for call recorder

I think I read somewhere that due to security limitations or something, you can only record calls while the loudspeaker is on, which makes call recording apps pretty much useless.
There are some out there though, all the lines I looked at had this limitation.
I have 'AirVoice' but I have yet to get it to work!

I read something about this limitation, too.
but I wonder, is this limitation is applied only for android softwares.
because my friends are using call recorder for their Nokia phones.

This is rom dependable. For miui roms it is already integrated and you don't need additional app.
For other roms on HTC desire there is thread with custom kernel and app. Then there is no loudspeaker limitation.

I just performed an install of cm7 a3.5 on a brand new touchpad and have run into a problem with gtalk. Gtalk shows everyone as offline after a short period of time and logging out and back in doesnt always solve the issue.
I wasnt able to find much searching on this topic. Does anyone else have similar problems or ideas for a fix?
Thanks!

I have the time set correctly. If this isnt a cm7 problem in general should I wipe and reload it? If so, what steps would be necessary to do so?
i hate using gtalk on the touchpad. the gtalk apps are just really buggy, imo. even on other phones i've had they've always had issues. if you really want the chatting ability just download any other messenger that supports gtalk.

I like the app and I dont like the extra junk in other messengers. I may just have to live with that though since noone else seems to have this problem.
i have that issue. also there's an issue when i log out where it doesn't really log me out or close the app.
i keep holding out hope that the ICS version will fix my complaints.
I have the same issue, logging out then in has always fixed it for me though.

I haven't run across this issue yet and I use gtalk on a regular basis. possible that it's because I'm using the gapps package with new gtalk? I suppose it wouldn't hurt to give it a try.

Argh, no luck. I still get the random all offline.
Latest aFirewall (call blocking software) update has 2 new permissions, one of them I can understand since its related to app purpose:
INTERCEPT OUTGOING CALLS
Allows the app to process outgoing calls and change the number to be dialed. Malicious apps may monitor, redirect, or prevent outgoing calls.
But there's a second permission that I dont see its purpose:
RETRIEVE RUNNING APPS
Allows the app to retrieve information about currently and recently running tasks. Malicious apps may discover private information about other apps.
What's in this version:
3.6.0:
1. Update application icon;
2. Add running info display and shortcut;
3. Fix two FCs;

Anyone knows if this permission is really necessary?
Thank you

-.-
I can see that, but what does this do? Why does a call blocking app needs this?
To identify malicious apps running in the background, I assume?
It used to identify if BackupToEmail is installed in your phone. Thanks.

Shouldn't need any special permission to determine if a specific package is installed.

Hey guys,
I just rooted and installed my first custom ROM for my GN2! (Jelly Bean build 7)
I gotta say rooting def. made my phone more efficient.
So far I am enjoying JB7 but I have a problem I really want to solve.
In my stock, before rooting, I was able to speak words to control my music player / alarm....
personally I really dont care about the music player but the alarm....
saying the word "STOP" in the morning to shut off my alarm is far better than fumbling through my desk looking for the phone while half asleep...
JB7 doesn't have this voice recognition for the alarm. Do you guys know a way to fix this?

You need S Voice. The app is in the Aroma Installer to flash with the rom. S Voice is what gives you voice commands for those functions.

Did you install s voice when selecting your aroma options. It's needed for the voice commands

While we're on the subject of jb7! I have a question about the Sd swap option. Does this option carry on to other roms? And if not( if I can figure out the mod) will everything stay intact and work like it does on jb7? Also when time comes to update to jb8 will I have to reactivate Sd swap in aroma?

I'm not sure how beans does it, but I believe it is a script so it would not survive gong from ROMs. There is a guide in the development section on how to do it on any ROM

Hi,
I have an issue with my mic.
When I try to make a call, the person I call do not hear me.
If I use a "free call app", something like "Viber", or even on a Facebook Call. People do not hear anything.
So i thought that my mic not work anymore.
But, If I do a Google voice search. It does work fine.
If I send a voice message on FB, it works.
So, Is something about with the calls.
Any ideas on how to fix it?
Are you running a custom rom? There is a known issue with the M7 and the recent Gplay services update that makes the mic muted on most phone apps. This could have bled to the DNA as it does have similar hardware.
This is something on google's end. I disabled "check-in" service via root and "disable services" app to get sound back. Be sure to clear caches afterwards.

As far as I know.. its not a custom rom..
But the curious thing here is that about a week ago, it was working pretty good.
But I would give it a try on what you said.
Lets see what happens..
btw, Thanks for your quick reply. :good:

Actually, YES!
Thanks bro...
At first, I had no idea on what you were saying, to be honest.
But in the end, I understood your idea.
Also, At first I was doing wrong.
I was working on another service that wasn't the right one.
Here is what I did:
I Downloaded the app:
Disable Service
Then I go to the "Google Play Services"
Code:
i.imgur.com/ceThPB6.png
And then Disable the "CheckInService"...
Code:
i.imgur.com/rLJYSiC.png
But my question here is... Doing this, does not affect anything on my phone?
And if it does, what? D;
But, anyways, thanks, doing that, made my mic functional again.

I don't know to be honest. I use play store, Google search, maps, G+, YT and have had no adverse effects from disabling that service.
