I was wanting if anyone out there knows the name and location of the folder where all the preloaded default apps that are installed on the A101IT are when the device is booted for the first time out-of-the-box because I don't like them being on my app list at all and want to completely get rid of them?? I thought I saw the folder once before but I tried going back into the system via my root access but I can't remember where the folder that contains them is? Please help me!
(I.E. - The respectively named default apps: Yellow-colored Music app (Version 2.2.1) for playing music files, black-colored Video app (Version 2.2.1) for playing video files, the white and blue-colored globe internet Browser (Version 2.2.1), the yellow-colored File app (Version 1.0.0) for file browsing, and finally the Home Screen Tips app.
Thanks to anyone who can find it and help me delete these!
You need to root and then you can remove the files from the system/app folder. You will not be able to do this with out root and if your not careful you can really mess stuff up.
Also, do some reading around here as this is already covered in this forum.
Thanks wolf, that worked like a charm & I don't see those any more!

Hi,
I've successfully rooted my branded Optimus 1, and removed some pre-installed apps. However, I cannot remove or delete any pre-loaded bookmarks in browser. Anyone knows how this can be done? Thanks.
I had the same problem and solved it using these things:
- a rooted Optimus One
- Root Explorer
- SQLite Editor
1. Using Root Explorer browse to /data/data/com.android.browser/databases/
2. Open browser.db and then the database table "bookmarks"
3. Change the values in the column "readonly" from "1" to "0" as you please
4. Now you'll be able to delete the bookmarks the normal way
Good luck
The solution works, though it seems to be a long way and a bit of effort I can now delete all the preloaded bookmarks. Thank you.
Procedure isn't that bad. SQLite Editor gives access without Root Explorer (assuming device is rooted). I ran the Editor, chose "Browser" as the application, then "browser.db", then "bookmarks", selected the cell under "readonly" (waayy to the right), pressed menu key for "Edit Field".
...one less trait of branding, without flashing a new ROM.
Thanks for this thread.
hi,
I don't want to start a new thread with the same topic.
After I modify the /data/data/com.android.browser/databases/ browser.db file the browser won't start, I get an error "the application browser has stopped unexpectedly"
If I delete the browser.db file the browser makes a new one with the preinstalled bookmarks, so I think there is a second place where the bookmarks and settings are.
So please, can someone help me get rid of the preinstalled bookamarks, because there are a lot of them and set as favorite .
EDIT: I tried to uninstall the browser and reinstall using this LINK but still same thing. there is something that verifies the browsers bookmarks or something like that...
Hey guys,
I am looking for the following files:
DownloadProviderUi.apk
DownloadProviderUi.odex
DocumentsUi.apk
If you want to make things dumbproof and give me a script I can flash via TWRP (which will hopefully work right), which will put these files back in System/App with the proper permissions, awesome.
Earlier, after opening an MP3 with Google Play Music, Google Play Music went crazy, the tablet froze, and upon reboot my download manager did not work, needed to be reinstalled somehow (but couldn't be reinstalled when I opened the .apk file in system/app), rendering the Play store, and Chrome, useless for downloading apps. I tried unsuccessfully to copy the apk/odex to my external SD card, before unexpectedly managing to delete the files. I deleted DocumentsUi.apk, which I probably do not need, by mistake. I tried installing a separate download manager (meant for an older device), but it wouldn't install.
I have a system.sin file for a SGP621 - but cannot extract the individual files without an older version of Flash Tool. And I don't want to flash the full file.
Thanks in advance!
UPDATE - I don't know what I did the 'Download Manager' still doesn't appear in my app drawer and I did not think the APK was still on the tab - but suddenly I can download from Google Play once again. No help needed.
Hi there,
I made a quick search about this, but I wasn't able to find a complete answer.
Just wanted to share how to view/share/save Facebook videos to other apps (i.e. whatsapp).
The reason why I prefer doing this over using an app, is because some "video downloading" apps require you to login inside their app, and for me that doesn't seem safe.
Requirements
Facebook App
Root Explorer (or similar)
Rooted phone
Procedure
Open your Facebook App, and watch completely the video (or wait till it finishes loading).
Use Root Explorer to go to (Bookmarking this makes it much easier):
Code:
data/data/com.facebook.katana/files/video-cache
Arrange the folders according to Date (so the latest date/time is the video you just saw).
Copy the file inside the folder (i.e. 00000000), to a safe folder back in your SD or extSD
Rename the "0000000" file, to whatever name you like and using the extension .mp4 (i.e. video.mp4)
Watch or share the video from root explorer (long-press and share)
Notes
I believe is safe to delete the whole cache folder to work better
I have only used the .mp4 format and it has been effective so far
You can't watch the video inside the Cache folder (at least w/my phone)
Enjoy:fingers-crossed:
Not sure when it started, but if I download any image from any browser (chrome, FF, Opera, etc) whether on WiFi or not, it doesn't end up in my gallery/download folder. It is if I browse my files with any file browser (the one pre installed, or any at the play store). I download images at work because we don't have internet access and I was able to connect my phone and get them to the computer via windows explorer. Now, nothing. I know they exist because of the above mentioned file browsing within the phone.
I can get them to show up if I reboot the phone. --Annoying.
or run media.Re.Scan (from the play store). --Shouldn't need another app to do what it should do by itself and what it used to do.
I've looked for the .NOMEDIA files on internal/external memory and removed where necessary.
Cleared the cache/data/force stop/disable/re-enable for the gallery and media storage
Removed all photos/songs/videos from the phone in case there might have been a corrupt file and deleted the folders.
Nothing works but the two listed above. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't recall installing any new apps of late so I don't know what caused it.
edit: not rooted. bone stock.
I am encountering issues with Wolf Launcher. 1. I had to uninstall and reinstall a movie app, but the launcher displayed multiple copies of the app. I could not remove the copies, even after verifying that there was only one copy on my firestick and then restarting the firestick. My only recourse was to move the copies to hidden apps. 2. The delete folder option does not work. After deleting a folder that I created it still remains in my home section. Is there a new release of the launcher that has addressed my issues, or is there a step that I have missed?
What is the name of this movie app? I'm using version 0.1.9.

I could not reproduce both of these points on my Fire TV Stick 4K and version 0.1.9 of Wolf Launcher. See Video in file attachment.
PS: However, a folder can actually no longer be deleted after a long period of time. Unfortunately, the only thing that helps is to delete the data of the app in the app info so that the created folder disappears again.

I will make the necessary changes based on your advice. Thank you for your assistance!
Easy install for newest version of wolf launcher on my fire tv cube. Loving widget space and the grid guide button on the newest remote gets me back to linear tv. I would pay Amazon $40 a year to replace the ads with a space for widgets!!!
I can confirm the folder deletion bug in the 0.1.9-wolf launcher, but the fix is easy:
1. Unhide all apps.
2. Open the folder.
3. Move all items in the folder to the built-in Applications Section.
4. Delete the folder.
5. Rehide duplicate apps while they are in the Applications Section.
