I am encountering issues with Wolf Launcher. 1. I had to uninstall and reinstall a movie app, but the launcher displayed multiple copies of the app. I could not remove the copies, even after verifying that there was only one copy on my firestick and then restarting the firestick. My only recourse was to move the copies to hidden apps. 2. The delete folder option does not work. After deleting a folder that I created it still remains in my home section. Is there a new release of the launcher that has addressed my issues, or is there a step that I have missed?
What is the name of this movie app? I'm using version 0.1.9.

I could not reproduce both of these points on my Fire TV Stick 4K and version 0.1.9 of Wolf Launcher. See Video in file attachment.
PS: However, a folder can actually no longer be deleted after a long period of time. Unfortunately, the only thing that helps is to delete the data of the app in the app info so that the created folder disappears again.

I will make the necessary changes based on your advice. Thank you for your assistance!
Easy install for newest version of wolf launcher on my fire tv cube. Loving widget space and the grid guide button on the newest remote gets me back to linear tv. I would pay Amazon $40 a year to replace the ads with a space for widgets!!!
I can confirm the folder deletion bug in the 0.1.9-wolf launcher, but the fix is easy:
1. Unhide all apps.
2. Open the folder.
3. Move all items in the folder to the built-in Applications Section.
4. Delete the folder.
5. Rehide duplicate apps while they are in the Applications Section.

On my other Android devices I can simply put a . in front of folders that I don't want the gallery to display (such as avatar pics and shortcut icons and what not) and it wouldn't. Then I could use eStrongs file manager or similar to browse to them when I needed them. I popped a 2GB MicroSD card I had laying around that already had some files on it from another Android device and ALL of the folders with images are showing up in the gallery... even those with a . in front of them.
Is there any way on an Archos 101 to set the Gallery to NOT display items inside of a '.' folder? Seems this is default with other Android devices so I'm hoping it's at least an option on these.
Ideas?
Thanks for the help.
Moved to general as not android development.

Create a 0kb file called .nomedia. Place it in the folder of items you don't want shown. That should work.

Doesn't appear to work. I searched before posting this and found a few things about .nomedia and thought maybe you had to rename the actual folders w/the images within to .nomedia to hide them? Seems like this would be a PITA way to go about it.
Am I doing something wrong? Any other ideas?

It should work just fine. Did you name the file specifically .nomedia? No ext name. Did you reboot to see if that helps? Did you put the file in the folder of the items you don't want showing?
Here is some more specific instructions (I didn't write them):
1. On your computer, open Notepad or any other text editor
2. Save the blank file with the filename “.nomedia”, make sure that the Save as type is set as “All Files” instead of “Text documents”
3. Copy that file to the folder on your SD card containing picture files you don’t want to show up in the gallery. (Example: If you want to block aDyno image files from coming up, place the .nomedia file in the sdcard/aDyno folder)
4. Reboot your phone and hopefully the unwanted files should no longer be viewable.

Alright, w/more information I tried it again. I created a file just using a file browser on the device. This time around I created a file in Notepad on my PC called .nomedia and made sure the filetype was set to 'all files' before saving and that there was no extension (deleted the .txt) and then copied that file to my Archos 101. I first tried in the folder on the SD card that contained all the folders in question. I rebooted and it didn't seem to help. I then copied the file into each folder and rebooted. Still no dice. Whenever I open Gallery all the folders and images are still there. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to clear a cache or something or delete any tumbnails or ?? I'm sure I'm just doing something wrong but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I keep searching and am coming up with nothing. This was SO easier on my other Android devices as I just put a period in front of the name of the folders I didn't want to display and it was done. Simple as that. This is a royal PITA and I feel I'm not making any progress.

Do either of these allow you to simply hide w/o signing in or encryption? I found two other programs & both required this which I don't want to deal with. Just seems odd that others are saying this is working for them & I'm not having any luck. I don't mind installing an app as long as it works but I'm not sure why my Archos 101 would be different than the rest.

Yes! This is EXACTLY what I needed. Thanks!
I was wanting if anyone out there knows the name and location of the folder where all the preloaded default apps that are installed on the A101IT are when the device is booted for the first time out-of-the-box because I don't like them being on my app list at all and want to completely get rid of them?? I thought I saw the folder once before but I tried going back into the system via my root access but I can't remember where the folder that contains them is? Please help me!
(I.E. - The respectively named default apps: Yellow-colored Music app (Version 2.2.1) for playing music files, black-colored Video app (Version 2.2.1) for playing video files, the white and blue-colored globe internet Browser (Version 2.2.1), the yellow-colored File app (Version 1.0.0) for file browsing, and finally the Home Screen Tips app.
Thanks to anyone who can find it and help me delete these!
You need to root and then you can remove the files from the system/app folder. You will not be able to do this with out root and if your not careful you can really mess stuff up.
Also, do some reading around here as this is already covered in this forum.
Thanks wolf, that worked like a charm & I don't see those any more!
Two questions:
Is there a directory of preloaded programs on the Dell Streak (from AT&T) so that you can find them in the root directory, and delete them?
Second, which is the best app for deleting them (and file management)?
I am used to WM6.5, and Resco Explorer on that OS was just like Windows Explorer, very easy to use, drag and drop, nested folders, etc.
Thanks
kww
I used App Delete from the market. Hit the menu key to show system apps. Give it a try.
P.S. Be sure to install BysyBox first.
Have busybox, thanks!
Is this the program you are talking about?

I did uninstall a number of items to free resources as described here: http://forum.pocketables.net/showthread.php?t=8457 or by using Root Uninstaller
amazonmp3.apk
com.twitter.android.apk
copilot.apk
HomeStageWidget-release.apk
NeroDellSync.apk
oovoo.apk
PicturesStageWidget-release.apk
RoxioNow.apk
SocialStageWidget-release.apk
StageLauncher-release.apk
VideoStageWidget-release.apk
ZinioReader.apk
Removing those APKs recovered about 60mb of space as well as eliminating some startup time.

Thanks, I downloaded app delete in the link above.
The only thing it couldn't delete is the youtube app. It deletes it, then it reappears....
Last night I went to use the mirror app and noticed it wasn't in the app drawer. I looked through my files using root explorer and couldn't find any mention of mirror. I thought my son may have inadvertently deleted it so I looked through Titanium Backup and couldn't find it there either. However, if I use search, the app shows up in the list. I can click on it and it works just fine but this is the only way to access it. Any one know how I can get the shortcut back in the app drawer? This is the only program that is missing.
Bump
Can someone at least point me in the direction to look? I have root explorer and looked in some folders, but don't know if there's a folder that contains the programs of the app drawer or if the drawer just contains shortcuts to the apps.

Every application .apk file contains an AndroidManifest.xml file in the root of the .apk file. Inside the AndroidManifest.xml file it provides directions for the package manager/launcher on whether or not to load the application into the Launcher 'draw/tray' and which icon to use.
The android package manager constantly monitors /data/app (3rd party apps) and /system/apps (stock and system apps) directories and picks up any added/removed .apk files. It will either add their icon to the launcher draw/tray or remove from the launcher draw/tray.
If you're having issues with the application not appearing in the Launcher draw/tray, I'd double check the application's respective .apk file is located in either /data/app or /system/app.
Hope that helps!
Thanks. Didn't find the apk in those folders or anyplace else. Guess I'm going to have to use rootexplorer and go through each folder 1 by 1.

Thanks for posting this. I tried to flash it via TWRP2 Recovery, but it didn't fix it. It's still hidden, only visiting when Google Searching for it, just like it was before. Is there something I'm missing or an alternative way to install it? Thanks.
Hi guys, I would like to ask something regarding the application folders.
If I uninstall an app, what I do is I clear cache first then clear data then force close the app and then uninstall. Would that delete all the folder created by the app during its previous installation process?
I checked my internal phone storage today and i saw "Summer Player" folder and it has PNG files inside it. I could not find any apps that uses those PNG files.
I'm wondering if that's a folder that was previously created by one of the apps I installed and was not removed during uinstallation process?
I would like to have an organize folder in my system and removed any unused folder. Could i checked which application is using a specific folder?
Thanks and sorry for the long post.
i saw a summer player folder in my mobile too. maybe we can compare what games do we have in common and figure out where it came from? i tried googling and the results seems to point towards poweramp
