You will have to get another phone to run cm7. No dice with our phones.

The only CM7 available so far for the Fascinate is under development by Punk.Kaos, and is currently in alpha stage, here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=910692
I'd advise against trying to flash anything using the latest recovery through ROM Manager (version 3.0.x.x) because the Fascinate is not currently compatible with the latest ClockworkMod (version 3.0.x.x) that ROM Manager uses.
If you still want to flash CM7, you'll need to flash an older ClockworkMod (2.5.x.x) and download the .zip file from the CM7 forum listed above.
The older Clockwork can be found here:

Hope this rambling helps

I put froyo on my vibrant using Odin. have JL5 (from samfirmware.com) and the 2.6.32.9 kernel now.
update.zip did not work to root, nor did that one click lage fix or other things work.
would like to use froyoblack and e.g. axura.
any ideas?
none of the "easy" known root options work due to 2.2 having a newer recovery.
To root 2.2 firmwares, search google for SuperOneClick. This will root your device. The only problem is, with recent firmwares, there is literally not enough space to install root and install busy box, so you'll need to delete a few apps.
but, it doesn't hurt to try though.

If I were u I would just Odin back to stock then root from there. Then install rom manager and flash one of the custom ROMs from Team Whiskey or Eugene373.

This is probably the best idea.
Hi guys,
My sister has a vibrant which I have rooted for her. Currently shes on stock 2.2. She's been complaining that her phone freezes up on her often so I thought I'd look into installing a custom rom.
I have a fascinate and there are issues with clockwork recovery and rom manager on it..so I'm wondering if the same is true on the vibrant or if its ok to flash clockwork from rom manager.

Not exactly. Stock 2.2 introduced 3e recovery, which can be a *****. Odin back to a stock 2.1 and then install clock work mod. Or search for "3e recovery working like 2e recovery" and follow the steps in that thread.
If you can't get it to work from there, use Super One Click and "shell" root then try again (even if you're already rooted).

+1 this is correct it is just easier to go to stock 2.1 then a custom rom You aviod all the new roadblocks from 3E recovery.... and yes..... it can be a *****

ugh...thanks for the info guys
Is the CM7 version of ROM Manager available as the market version or is the version included in CM7 the one we need? Is it too soon to be thinking about using ROM Manager again? When I open ROM Manger it says I must have the ClockworkMod Recovery installed to flash, and asks to confirm phone model as i9000, will this install the correct version or should we just stick with manual flashing?
Fascinate + Rom mananger = Epic fail.
do not use.

Yes thank you that has been the case for quite some time, however, I'm asking about CM7. I've read some stuff on here talking about official support from cyanogen and a possible working ROM Manager from them.
Working on it, but not yet.
is there a new version besides 2.5.1.2.
every time i install a theme it gets stuck at vibrant start up screen. i have tried different themes and it has the same result. I'm thinking it's the CWM. any ideas?
The CWR version has zero to do with it. More than likely you are trying to flash themes that are not compatible with your rom.

This is true you need to check as now with GB, and Advanced Froyo as well as standard froyo,,,, different varieties of bootloaders etc. alot of the themes are rom specific. Also,
Try booting into recovery manually by using the vol=/- method this is the best way to get into recovery anyway, if it doesn't work using that method then it never will. BUT 1st thing make sure what you flash is compatible with your Rom
i have the stock rom should i flash a different one?

I don't think any themes work for the stock Eclair or Froyo ROMs.
when i'm starting rom manager it says me that i havent installed a ROM MANAGER RECOVERY and let me choose between:
Samsung EPIC 4g
or Samsung GalaxyS i9000
no word of i9100......
actually i have a cwm 5.5 from siyakernel.
i'm on CM9 rooted and superusers semms ok.
Does not work on SGSi9100 .

For what u want to use ROM Manager???I don't think, that Rom Manager supports Siyah!!!
When u flashed Siyah, u must have got an app named "cwm".
Use that, it has all functions of Rom Manager.

And CM9 doesn't support Siyah. Not sure it would even boot.
His recovery is from CM9's included kernel, and it's recovery 5.5.
I have just downloaded the recoveru from rom managet. It asked if i had galaxy s2

Rom Manager is well known for causing problems with SGS2. Use it @ your peril. Much "safer" to boot into CW Recovery & do all one's flashing/backup/recovery/etc.
Then if someone uploads the downloded one somewhere so everybody takes it and put it in cwm folder in internal sd

Download chainfires cwm manager it gives you similar options depending on your kernel.
