You will have to get another phone to run cm7. No dice with our phones.

The only CM7 available so far for the Fascinate is under development by Punk.Kaos, and is currently in alpha stage, here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=910692
I'd advise against trying to flash anything using the latest recovery through ROM Manager (version 3.0.x.x) because the Fascinate is not currently compatible with the latest ClockworkMod (version 3.0.x.x) that ROM Manager uses.
If you still want to flash CM7, you'll need to flash an older ClockworkMod (2.5.x.x) and download the .zip file from the CM7 forum listed above.
The older Clockwork can be found here:

Hope this rambling helps

I had the same issue. First uninstall the currently installed flash player, then go to the market and get the new one. Worked for me.

You need a P rom to flash as far as we know so far .If you flash a wrong firmware you can brick your phone .
Checkrom is a custom rom if you go to the Checkrom post in the developers thread it wil giver you a descriptions . Same goes for all custom roms page one this rom is and has the following or not .

does this mean i cant flash miui ?
You can only flash a P rom unless you find evidence to the contrary . Most roms are for i9100 version .
Or be a guinea pig and try .

thanks for the info, i think i'll leave it for now i dont want to brick my phone :L
You can flash 9100 ROM on your 9100P
But 9100 ROMs don't support NFC module (it will be supported natively with ICS).
I have the same device (orange FR) and you can look my signature for working Radio + ROM...

I dont remember
But if your device is already rooted you can install Rom manager or CWM from the market and make a backup of your config. Then reboot in CWM and install what you want (read the how to install section of the wanted rom).
Don't care about your "P" version!
What you read here for standard device (i9100) is working for your P version.

okay, i'll give that a go later
Don't use Rom Manager, use Clockwork. Rom Manager seems to not work well with the SGS2, this forum is littered with posts from people who used Rom Manager to flash and it broke CW Recovery, put the phone into a bootloop or soft brick, etc, etc.
Best to play it safe IMHO.

Oh I didn't know that rom manager was not working fine on our device. I am using clockwork manager and it is working fine.
I've seen a heap of posts in the couple of months I've been visiting this forum from people who ended up with broken CW Recovery & bootloops after using the Manager app.
I used it once to try and flash a kernel & it broke recovery completely.
Obviously any/everyone's mileage may vary, but for me, I'd rather play safe & boot into Recovery whenever I flash or backup.

so if i shouldn't use rom manager, what should i use ?
Didn't say you shouldn't use it Just said that plenty of people have had problems using the app, and rather than risk it, since I had that problem with it, every time I've done a backup or flashed a rom/kernel I've rebooted into recovery & used CW Recovery itself to do the business
As I said in my previous post, your mileage may vary & you may not have any problems with it at all.

Read this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
so is rom manager the only way to install cwm without flashing a different kernel ?

Hello guys! I have a GT-I9100P also with the latest BVKL2 2.3.6 firmware. I had it rooted when I was at BVKI3 2.3.4 firmware and now I am looking for a good CF-ROOT kernel for my phone. What would you recommend me? (what if I tell Chainfire to make a CF-ROOT more appropriate to my kernel)?

Why don't you post in Chainfire's thread to ask him about making an insecure KL2 kernel?
But I think you can use the insecure KL1 kernel from Chainfire's thread to use for root. Or you could flash SpeedMod or Siyah, and the rooting will happen for you. You have lots of options.
were to put the rom zip file
I got the exact same phone as the OP im trying to flash a rom in a zip format but clockwork mod recovery cant find the file ive looked in install from sd card and install update.zip. ive also tried installing it through rom manager, no joy there, inside rom manager i chose to boot into recovery to flash it manually and now i got a black screen with a white triangle n a lil green android dude so i see what people are saying about the s2 and rom manager, anyways my question is were do i place the zipped rom? on the internal or external and should i rename the rom file?
Ive had 2yrs experience with a HTC HD2 so im not exactly a noob to flashing roms, but the galaxy s2 is very new to me.
when i'm starting rom manager it says me that i havent installed a ROM MANAGER RECOVERY and let me choose between:
Samsung EPIC 4g
or Samsung GalaxyS i9000
no word of i9100......
actually i have a cwm 5.5 from siyakernel.
i'm on CM9 rooted and superusers semms ok.
Does not work on SGSi9100 .

For what u want to use ROM Manager???I don't think, that Rom Manager supports Siyah!!!
When u flashed Siyah, u must have got an app named "cwm".
Use that, it has all functions of Rom Manager.

And CM9 doesn't support Siyah. Not sure it would even boot.
His recovery is from CM9's included kernel, and it's recovery 5.5.
I have just downloaded the recoveru from rom managet. It asked if i had galaxy s2

please post here if u get answers!
Rom Manager is well known for causing problems with SGS2. Use it @ your peril. Much "safer" to boot into CW Recovery & do all one's flashing/backup/recovery/etc.
Then if someone uploads the downloded one somewhere so everybody takes it and put it in cwm folder in internal sd

Download chainfires cwm manager it gives you similar options depending on your kernel.

Hey guys I am new to android, and I need some questions answered before I go and start modding/flashing roms. Thanks in advance!! So here they are:
My questions.
1: okay cool, so I've successfully rooted my gio. Awesome, but now I would like to flash cyanogen mod 7.2 or the beta cyanogen 9, but I need clockwork recovery mod. In order to do this i need to place it on the root of my sd card. But how do I properly partition it?
2. I also need to install clockwork recovery mod before I flash a new Rom for my gio. In the thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421650). It mentions something about the ext4 partition and rfs roms. I think it said if I don't have it I have to apply the patch. I am not sure what those mean nor which apply to me. (I am using stock gingerbread 2.3.4)
3. I am interested in overclocking and changing cpu settings for speed and good battery. But I have heard that it may not be supported by stock kernels. So if I do flash cm7 or cm9, does it automatically flash its own kernel that allows that to be done? And if it does, will it be built in so I can do it from settings, or do I have to download the application from Google play?
Sent from my GT-S5660M using XDA
1. take the app rom manager, the free version from the play store, grant su when asked and install the CWM recovery..
2. never heard of??
3. i think there is already a customer kernel installed, if not, just download one from youre devices xda side and for overclocking you can use the Rom Toolbox or the normal cyanogenmod settings
have fun and dont forget to thank
Thanks alot! So I do not need a special Version of clockwork recovery? Like the one from this thread? (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421650). Sorry for the dumb questions, I just dont want to brick it! And i also looked at the rom manager desciption and it says i need a clockwork compatible kernel first?
http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
link for the official clockwockmod recovery.. just go down the list until you find samsung galaxy gio and yes i think if you install the recovery via rom manager their shouldnt be any problem
.. the link you wrote is another recovery.. which one is better, id dont know got a nexus no gio
