For those not wanting to shell out the money on the keyboard dock, this is a nice solution to stand the transformer up at your desk, and rather inexpensive (typically under $15)

I have one of these. It works really well.
Ron
+1 I also have one & it works great.
Was planning on making one myself but this isn't a bad price.
Would be nice to have it sitting in the kitchen for a quick stand to play videos/music etc while cooking.
Mine got delivered today, really nice stand for the price.
It sits nicely and it’s easy to use with it in the stand on my desk as the feet have rubber under them to stop it sliding backwards when you use it

Used it with my ipad (which is now sold to some ebayer).
Can't wait for my Transformer to arrive, i'm sure it will work just as well with it.
I have one and use it with an IPad and a NC. Very nice. It folds up very small.

Ok so I could not wait for a stand and did not want to go put $$ down on something that was not perfect fitting for the Gtab.
I have lots of tools and wood, so here is my 15min $0 Gtab stand.
I used a piece of scrap PERGO flooring from when I did my kitchen that matches the wood on my desk and it has a foam underside built on to it for no scratches.
I have felt pads in the corners where the tablet touches.
Tab sits at a 45 degree angle. I already have ideas for a adjustable version as well that may swivel.
it has my my enjoyment of the gtab better.

You are correct and I stand corrected. it is more of a stand at this point. It could turn into a dock down the road if the one viewsonic makes is not up to my standards I guess.
Thanks for pointing out my mistake, it has been updated.
Very nice, I was thinking about something like this, but much smaller. Something like a kickstand on the device with rubber feet, not sure why they didn't build something in for using with keyboard, but I guess that is what their dock will be for.
Here is my Lego stand. I actually made it for my EVO but the Gtab fits as well.

Ahh the Joy of Legos... I gave my 5 yr. old son, who reminds me he is 12 yrs. old in Lego years, my ZT-180 tablet with a Lexar 32GB USB disk loaded with 19 hours of 'Star Wars the Clone Wars' episodes... and sure enough I found him watching it on the floor while playing Lego with Star Wars characters and he had incorporated the tablet into his 'Command Ship' that he was building...
He used a LOT more pieces to hold his tablet up
I don't know if my son would let me have the lego pieces to build that, I would have to fight him for them!
I saw a video on youtube of a guy using a wooden plate stand, like a tripod. He got it for $10 at some store, probably WM or Target. Submitter was ehunyadi

This is really the best cheap stand... I used to use one when I had my GenTouch.
Mine was black and actually looked really slick... I'm sure you could find a variety at any thrift store. Found mine layin around the house somewhere.
i bought a stand and it just came in. it works nicely and it was only 7 bucks
You can also use a business card holder from an office supply store. The metal mesh ones work good because they do need a slight bend in the top to add stability.

You can also adjust the angle of the tablet by drilling a few more holes in the base closer to the slot. If you dont have the tools for the slot, just glue a strip of wood where the slot is. Simple!
what's point of tablet if you are going to use it like laptop?

Love the LEGO Stand!

Good job!!! I may have to try this out myself. For now I bought a picture frame holder from amazon that works quite well.

I had gotten one of these...It works, but not great. It is made for a netbook, so when it sits in there it is very low. On mine the only way it was useable was to balance it on the swivel point.
I ended up getting the BookGem (Also available from amazon) and I love it. I actually have two of them!

Just in Michael's I think. It's nothing special to behold. Just a typical picture frame holder. It looks something like this: http://www.salinepictureframe.com/showroom/products/8in-ebony-wooden-stand/
They have those at Walmart for $3.50 or so I believe. Do a quick search on this forum on my username for a picture of the one I got at Michaels for $3.99 (actually $2.00 with the 50% off coupon!) the other day. I like it because it is completely adjustable, which is important in light of the comments regarding viewing angle in portrait.

I bought a BookGem from amazon.com. I love it. It clamps (spring loaded) onto my gtab so that it is securely attached and moves when I move the gtab around. It can be clamped on the top as well but that doesn't work as well because the gtab border is narrower there and so it is actually clamping onto the screen a little bit which interferes with tapping, i.e., the gtab only supports two finger presses at a time and it thinks the clamps are finger presses.
It has rubber pads on its feet and on its clamps.
I also like that it folds up flat so it fits in my carry-all for convenient transport.
Anyway I like it so much I bought a second one for my other gtab.

Oh I am glad to know about this. I am using mine as desktop replacement too, and I went ahead and got a USB keyboard since I will mainly be using the keyboard when I have the tablet on my desk and plugged in. I figure I will get one of those things that lets you plug a bunch of stuff into one USB and then I can use my old mouse which is still good.
I am also using a "cheap" rubberized wire book holder that I found 2 for $5 or something like that at amazon. I think the postage cost more than the holder but it works GREAT and I can still fold it up if I needed to put it in the tablet's carrying case or something.
My Microsoft wireless does not work, I am thinking about the HP BT keyboard.
Here is my g-tab on a $3 stand.

Received mine today from Amazon. Wow, what a great little piece! A lot more solid than you would think. I can type and tap pretty hard and it doesn't budge at all. Very adjustable and works horiz and vert.
Highly recommend this!
Nice.. I just ordered this from ebay.
This custom mount is what I'm currently using .
I got one as well. I like it, but it was a little bulkier than I was expecting. Still a great product.
I agree it's a good product. Tried the plate stands

So I went to Walmart after hearing I might find a stand for cheap and I was surprised at the results. I got a decent stand that fits the g tablet in landscape and portrait mode for $1! I did test fit the other ones but settled one the $1 and the $3 ones. I have to say the cheaper one is my favorite. I just put a bit of tape on the bottom so it wouldn't slide, even though it holds it firm. I would suggest this stand to anyone that needs a temporary stand. I have uploaded all the ones I seen at Walmart. Here you go, have a look.

Thanks man I splurged and got the 3$ stand. I liked it because I can fold it up. Definitely works like you said it does have a tendency to want to slide but other wise perfect. Thanks for posting.
I have been using a business card holder as a stand. Works great in landscape, but not portrait. $2 at staples.
Little glue does the trick
i picked one up aswell. But after doing a quick browse thru walmart's clearance aisle, i found a get-a-grip pad for $4.
So i cut the pad (4 strips) and super glued them to the stand. Now i have a no scratch/no slip stand. I love being crafty
I got one of those transparent stands shown in the first set of pics. Works fine, actually, and looks like it belongs with the pad.
The folding and lightweight nature of it is great too.
I might try this, thanx for the idea!
I bought a book gem from amazon. It works really well and it folds nice and flat so it fits in my case perfectly. I use my GTab at work so having it sitting up is a must. The position makes typing really easy and quick.
Another nice thing is that I'm able to use it in portrate mode and hang it from my steering wheel so I can read my book (Kindel app) while I'm sitting at Sonic having lunch.
Sorry, can't post a link, but here is what it's called.

I use the same exact stand and I love it. My fiancée was the one who suggested it would fit and I have been using it every day since. Love that it folds up and and travels in my back pack perfectly. Great idea with the get a grip, I'm doing that asap!
While the gtab is nice to hold in your while relaxing in the lazy boy, sometimes you need to work at a desk. As we all know, laying the gtab flat isn't the best way to use it. Enter our old friend Staples. For ten bucks you can get a desktop document holder. Stock it works fine but for the ambitious you can shorten it with a hacksaw and some sandpaper and it becomes very portable and quite stable. Cheap and effective.
can you throw up a picture/link, Mr. Hacksaw?
This is what I use.
Even though the description says it's for an iPad or Galaxy Tab, it works great for my gTab and it's highly adjustable.
Arkon Portable Fold-Up Stand
Got my Arkon stand a week ago and luvin it! Fits in the bag perfectly and supports the gtab either vert or horz.
I'm still curious about the hacksawed document holder referred to by the OP....

I can say from experience that the Arkon stand does fit nicely in the Viewsonic/Case Logic $5 bag I picked up at Sears when I bought my gTab. It also fits nicely in my shirt pocket as well when I'm about to board a flight.
So now that everyone's GTabs are on the way, lets focus on the goodies!
Im curious, whats everyones favorite cover/case?
I know I want the dock, but what else is a MUST HAVE? I've even read about a screen protector that improves viewing angle?!?
If you have any good suggestions, please let me know, post the URL for people to purchase etc!
Just received my Skinomi carbon fiber skin. Was very impressed with the material, looks to be the same 3M stuff that "dash kits" use in cars. 24 shipped on amazon. I've heard it sucks to install - but my tab won't be here until Thursday to find out
Right now I have just purchased the "Skinomi TechSkin - Black Carbon Fiber FILM Shield & Screen Protector" from Amazon (Skinomi.com has a larger selection and coupon codes can be found online), based on the reviews there and in a thread over here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=904814) I believe is the best we can buy right now to protect the screen, I went for the full body kit as I have not yet decided on which case I will end with but will most likely be one with a keyboard so I can use it while in class.
I may pick some cheap capacitive pens down the road too just because you can get them pretty cheap and shipped straight to South America where I live
....I am a nOOb so can't post outside links yet....
I'm pretty happy with these...
Arkon Portable Fold-up Stand
Carbon Fiber ThinSkin in Black
CLIP - Folio Case
I bought a dock but didn't really find myself using it after I got it so I sold it off on eBay for a tidy profit.
I also had one of those cases with the built-in usb keyboard but found it looked way too cheap and didn't keep the gTab snug so I got rid of that on eBay for a tidy profit as well.
If you want a case with a built-in bluetooth keyboard I highly recommend checking out it2steve's web store for a case he calls the BlutO.
See link here.
As for a small bag to carry all of your gTab accessories, I recommend the Targus CityGear bag for 10.2 inch Netbooks. It fits everything nicely. The only negative about this bag for me is that the shoulder strap is not removable.
I almost forgot about the Skinomi Screen Protector. It is fantastic as long as you follow the directions and let the damn thing sit until it's completely dry after you've applied it (like 24 hours if you can handle it) and you will be rewarded with a screen protector that you can barely tell is there.
I would dearly love to get the BlutO but it's my understanding that it stays sold out.
So far I've ordered the dock from merimobiles, $42.75 with coupon code bienvenu
Needed the lan port for work since we can't turn on wireless due to sensitive client files.
Messenger bag from Bensoutlet dot com $7.98 shipped. Got one that looks exactly like this for my netbook from 1saleaday last year for $10 shipped and hope it's the same one, great little sturdy bag.
Lenovo usb keyboard remote w/ trackball, don't know if it'll work w/gtab or not but for $27 I can use it with something else if it doesn't.
Have a neoprene sleeve to put it in until I decide on which screen protector and cover.
Dern, why did I type all of this out? Now I know how much I've spent LOL

Bought a tshirt for the bf a couple of weeks ago that had a pic of a pig amongst the clouds with the caption "With enough thrust, pigs fly just fine" Hilarious
To make this post legal (and to satisfy my curiosity) how hard are these skins to put on? I bought screen protectors for my nook that I ended up wadding up and throwing in the garbage, couldn't ever get them to go on without steeeenkin' bubbles that irritated the crap outta me.

But. Gotcha. I'll give it a shot. Thanks again.
I picked this up and it looks great:
http://www.amazon.com/Acer-AOD250-1...?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1299249594&sr=1-22
Very professional looking and holds the accessories fairly well. There is only the one outside pocket, so things just get thrown in. For under $20 (with amazon prime), who can complain?
I have a Wenger Swiss Army 12" laptop bag that I used for my netbook. Got it at Walmart for under $15. it too has removable strap and a side pocket too.

Belkin is usually a good product. But here's what I use (in neoprene), just bought another two pack in fact:
http://www.meritline.com/flap-laptop-sleeve-neoprene-black---p-36331.aspx
Velcro flap closure, perfectly servicable and I've always been happy with them. Free shipping too, but you have to be sure to select that option. It does take a some time to deliver due to the fact that it ships from China. Also, these are a bit roomier than the usual stretch-to-fit neoprene sleeve. My netbook won't fit in that kind due to the extended battery.
What can I say, we wimmins love a sale ;->
I plan to wait to get my hands on the tablet (fedex will get it here on Thurs) ... play with it long enough to be certain I want to keep it ... and THEN ... shop for stuff. Else, getting rid of the tablet and all those accessories will be an humbling experience.
BTW, my CC. has a program where they will take back a product if the store does not accept it back. I hope I don't resort to it in this case.
