got a streak as a gift a month ago - tried to update from stock 1.6 to 2.2 using guide on streaksmart.com - didnt work. now streak is bricked. no lights, nothing. looked all over online for days now and the furthest ive got is to try to access the quallcomm chip from the laptop but i cant, and i cant run the driver on it either, as told in the bricked streak pdf by ryrules. called dell and they cant help w/o acct name that purchased device - which i cant get (but thats a whole other story). cant even get a charge from what i can tell, qdl tool cant detect usb streak. im able to admit im out of my depth on this one - can anyone out there help?
If it helps, the dell streak service tag should be on the back of the phone when you remove the battery cover.
I phoned Dell today and they are picking up my streak for repair, no charge. And im not the first owner of the device either. Got mine from ebay. All they did was get me to boot into recovery, and try a factory reset. when it didnt complete, they just said they will fix it, for free thankfully.
I tried that - they won't transfer the device to my name w/o verification of original purchaser account name - and won't be able to issue a new free replacement w/o it. Not only do I not have that info, I might not ever be able to get it. thank you for the idea though.

i went here and dl'ed the pdf and files, but i cant get past maunally installing the fastboot driver on pc, it wont let me update the android driver - because its not recognizing the device as connected. i can get my laptop to recognize the quallcom chip, but thats as far as ive gotten. phone is off, seemingly totally dead, no lights or anything. when i get to the chip, it wont let me install or update driver - every time i try it fails. any ideas? I tried your email in the pdf.
Where are you located? Maybe I can help you out.

Texas, but I think I could maybe fix it if someone had the right step by step instruction I could follow. Is there another program besides the qdl that can help?
What version of windows are you using. I had a very hard time with windows 7 but took me like 20 minutes from start to finish with a windows XP.

qdl gets to
wait for adb device...
error(d2)wait for adb fastboot mode timeout
please check that device is exist and driver is properly installed
download fail
now what?
That happened on my 1st attempt using QDL. Just unplug Streak, remove battery for @ least 1 minute, place battery & cover back on, hold the button closest to the headphone port while @ same time plugging cable back into Streak, then run again. 2nd time did everything for me. My computer did flash something about drivers installed successfully after the 1st fail, so maybe it installed what was missing. If this doesn't work, use a different USB port.

+1 for that advice. In addition, I wouldn't use a USB hub either.

yes, i did but when i try to update the android adb interface under device manager on my laptop by directing the driver update screen manually to C:\dell\drivers\R288920\Win7 i get an error msg that says
windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device
windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it
the device cannot start (code 10)
seems to be a pattern im stuck in, i cant make it past here yet.
Nm - fixed it w help from irc #dellstreak - had to end up using 2 different qdl tools, but in the end - after a week long struggle w a bricked streak it finally came back on, with 2.2
Please help!!!!

Dont know if you still have this problem, but I transferred registration/ownership to myself on the dell site. It just asks for your details and service tag. Which coincidentally is shown under About Phone, status at the bottom.

I ended up getting it all fixed up with a lot of help on irc. Meralias got me through the last parts, correct drivers and qdl. Then I had beta froyo, which I updated to official. Yesterday I finally got brave enough to try flashing one of dj steve s. glad I did.

Has anyone attempted to go from QDLtool 2.2(unrooted) to the O2 2.1 ROM? I am looking into USB hosting and my research shows that the USB hosting has been disable in the 2.2 kernel.
Last night I attempted to flash O2 2.1 over the QDLtool 2.2 the result was my PC being left 'waiting for device'. My streak recognized the usb connection but failed to do anything beyond displaying 'fastboot' on the screen. I don't know if anything was compromised, as far the device not being able to boot properly, as I literally passed out on my keyboard before I could check.
I am using all the appropriate files associated with flashing O2 2.1 so I will look if the problem is with the QDL setup. I am working with 64-bit win7, as a result the QDLtool has you put your pc in 'test mode' to use it. Since then I have disabled the test mode. I will reestablish the test mode and attempt to flash again. I will keep you guys posted.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers.
Hi,
I've just bought an atrix and would like to try GingerBlur... I followed the SBF flashing guide, but after RSD finished the first step (create image) phone showed up the following message: "sec_exception: febe, 35, 35" while RSD stopped "waiting for re-enumeration"... I freaked out and unplugged it. Fortunatelly everything is fine.
Is this message expected? Should I just wait longer or is there something wrong?
Regards,
Thiago Souza

This happened to me. I was using the usb ports on the front of my case. Apparently rsdlite does not like this very much. I plugged into the usb port directly to my motherboard in the back and smooth sailing from there. That could be your problem. You might also want to try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers.
Hi,
Actually i'm using my notebook... but i think my priblem is that my current version (0.50.0) some how is not supported...
I think its has to do with USB on the front of the computer is usb 1.0 on the back its 2.0 on most notebooks there is 1 USB 2.0 and 2 USB 1.0. Most the time the side that only has 1 usb port is the 2.0 port
Hi,
Thanks for you tips, for I definitely can't do it, tried all my 3 notebook's usb port and got the same result ...
Regards
It looks like it was a compatibility problem... I could successfully install 1.4.2
it is a problem with the latin america atrix
hi,
I'm having a major problem updating my LG Prada 3 UK version from gingerbread to the official ICS update. I've not rooted or done any mods. I'm using the official lg update tool with the drivers installed but the update keeps getting stuck at 7%. I pass all the checks the update tool seems to perform before updating but once the update starts always at 7% it gets stuck. It gives me an error message something like this: "There was a communication problem between the cell phone and the PC", with the option to restart. It tells me to unplug USB and take battery out then turn phone on and restart. I do this but nothing works and again stuck at 7%.
I even phoned LG who said it must be a glitch and to keep trying. That's nonsense I've definitely got some kind of issue here. Oh and I've tried the usual: factory reset, reinstalling the USB drivers and LG update tool. Absolutely nothing works.
One more thing, even using the LG PC Suite to update gives me an error message. So I know this isn't to do with the LG Update tool. I have a Win7 installed.
Please can someone help me with this! many thanks
It's possible there's a bad block in the internal memory. You may be able to check for it through a shell.
If it's under warranty, I would try to send it back.
You could also try flashing with the KDZ tool, but if it gets stuck, you might brick the phone.
To work out what the problem is you need to rule out every variable. First try out a different wire/cable. If it doesn't work then try a different computer. If its still not working then there's a good chance it's a problem with your phone.

I tried a different USB cable, and also a different pc but still the same problem. I was thinking of trying to turn off the download mode thing but not sure how that works. I did hold up volume up and power then inserted battery but all that gave me was a SW Update screen.

Re-Install The Device Drivers For Android, If It Didn't Help Then Try Using A PC That Have Freshly Installed Windows. That Will Help You To Recognize Device.
Second Issue Is Low Battery Cannot Program. Try Using The Factory Cable. That Will Bypass That Thing. (Factory Cable Is Cable That Have 5 Wires Inside Cord.)
