My first Atrix had numerous problems after the 4.1.57 update (weaker cell signal, poor battery life and random reboot). I got a new Atrix without that update and it has been working great. The problem is that I got notification that the update will download once the phone has a WiFi connection. I have disabled WiFi to stop the update; is their anyway to disable this auto update? Both AT&T and Moto say there is no way to stop the update.
I would say just update it. The problem was with the phone not with the update... most people seem to be ok with the update.
I agree the update has been good to me, only a random reboot once every few days at most

random reboots still isnt acceptable really, i guess i got lucky, mine is mostly flawless... *knowck on wood*
No problems here
I have the 4.1.57 update and have had no problems.
If you want to disable it, get titanium backup and freeze the updater process.

thanks krad54, thats helpful!
Where do I find the updater to freeze? Is it updater 2.2.1?
Sent from my ATRIX using XDA App
yes updater 2.2.1 is what you need to freeze, tested and working!
Awesome! Thanks!

My Atrix 4g is on 4.5.91 and it is rooted. I did the [MOD] 1% Battery - No Carrier -- 4.5.91 theme. A lot of people's market seemed to auto update to the newest one which mine has not yet. How can I make it update?

question, why dont you wanna update?
I have another theory, UNINSTALL OR FREEZE BLUR UPDATER, IT MAY WORK OR IT MAY KILL YOUR PHONE, GOOD LUCK
the reason why i don't want to update it's because i don't have time right now to mess with a broken phone... my phone is my life and any downtime is pretty much not needed right now due to a raw update.

Is your phone still the stock version? Or have you rooted it and what not? I have to be honest, I was a bit worried when I saw everyone posting about problems they had with P3's pre-rooted and flashing the zip file. Honestly, I left my phone alone, other than uninstalling NFS, let's golf and other trial software VZW had pre-loaded on my phone. I didn't wanna mess with it, so I figured since I'm still stock, I'll just wait. The update pushed this morning, installed with zero problems, and works absolutely fantastically. I haven't had any problems people have mentioned in any of these threads.
I hope that helps.
Back up all your apps and settings. Factory reset and dont acceptances motorolas terms. Someone mentioned that on another thread. Can't remember who.
That may not be a solution for you tho.

You have to delete/rename otacerts.zip (which requires root access).
from adb:
Code:
adb shell
$ su
# cd /system/etc/security
# mv otacerts.zip otacerts.zip.bak
# exit
$ exit
and of course it's a good idea to have a backup of otacerts.zip just in case.
Please note, that my phone is currently not in a "working" state and that the directory may not be correct. but i'm pretty sure it is.
i've heard freeze fota.apk, then i heard freeze blurupdater_vzw.apk. i forgot about otacerts.zip.
at this point, i'm pretty sure no one knows which of the above, if any, stops updates. me, i'm freezing all three and loading boostrap and cwm recovery.
I froze Updater 2.2.2 ... worked fine

I can't download any apps from Market. I'm assuming that freezing "updater 2.2.2" causes this issue.

I'm just correcting my assumption for other noobs as myself, I had Data Saver enabled for the past week. Which is why I couldn't download anything unless in Wi-Fi.

I'm holding off on the 2.3.5 update however, almost every time I unlock my phone it's asking me to update. Is there a way to turn off the nag screen?
Thanks!
I've heard that the 197_8 SBF will not get OTA updates, but it's only a rumor. Can someone confirm it so that Magnus579 will have a solution?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1777184
if you are rooted you can use titanium backup, or any other app that can manage all of the applications like rom toolbox, and go into the applications and freeze the one that says updater 2.3.4
Root App Delete from the market solved the issue. It allowed me to "Disable" Updater 2.3.4 which is listed under "Sys Apps" in the application.

So for the first time ever I just received a system update notification. I am rooted s-off on stock with goodies 2.06. Yea I know it's old and unsupported but it runs so good I don't want or need to change.
So why did I get this update notification now? How do I get rid of it with out switching roms?

HTC/Sprint pushed an update a couple days ago 3.16.651.3
setting/system updates/htc software updates and uncheck the schedule check and it will not look for updates anymore
Thanks. I did that but the notification is still there. Is there a way to get rid of it?

So this morning the Easter bunny left me a present... My AT&T LGOG says software update available. Does anyone know if the bunny dropped off Jellybeans or just another egg?
I was trying to get a screenshot of the useless message, but the update tried to install and the phone rebooted. Then the firmware update screen reported a failure. After reboot my phone still works on ICS. I'm going to take a backup now and be safe as long as the update doesn't update recovery/bootloader...
Turns out my screenshot worked after all.

It's just the E97011c update people got back in December ...
What are the changes?
Got the same update notification but when I tried to install it, gave me a error message because I'm rooted. Was hoping it will be jellybean.

It isn't I woke up and installed it hoping it would be JB, turns out it is a minor update to 11c that was handed out to a lot of people in December.

Was just wondering that. My E970 is rooted on the stock ROM. Doesn't seem like the update does anything useful.

were you rooted? If so, did you lose root or anything else for that matter?
Darn
Darn, I was thinking it would have been quite funny if AT&T released a candy named update on a holiday associated with said candy...
Yep, I am still on 10o so this is just the step to 11c.

Yes. Can you re-root it?
I'm on stock & rooted. Not unlocked.
Update notification went off this morning; read some of this thread; told it to let me know again in 8hrs.
Just went off again, I said ok, whatever, told it to update. It rebooted, & now it's just sitting there at the white, "rethink possible" screen.
Key combo reboot actually got it into the "software update" screen, but that then error'd at 1% complete. Error was something like, "01X03fed." It disappeared too quickly while I was typing this. Rebooted again, fully this time, and a, "Installation interrupted" warning is showing.
Hopefully the update notification will be gone, too...
