I manually updated my Gtab to 3588 ( I have clockwork and 3899 and it would not let me update with clockwork) .
I now have 3588 installed BUT when I hold the Volume+ and Power it does not go into stock recovery. It shows the green box with the arrow for 2 seconds like itsa insalling something and then just boots up. Am I missing the recovery option now and how will this affect me going forard. Will I not be able to have updates or do a factory reset ????
Can someone please advise.
confused to what you are trying to accomplish here. Are you trying to install CWM? Never heard of 3899 update? If you can, give a little more of a description what you have done so far.

That is stock recovery for 3588. There is no menu.
K J RAD . Thank you. I could swear I had a menu when i did that before I installed Clockwork. there were options to install and wipe the system I think. but Maybe I am not remembering it correctly . Again thank you
Sorry that was a typo I meant 3399 . I thought when I previously held down Volume and Power I got a menu in Standard recovery. Post belows states that there is no menu so I guess I was incorrect and thanks for the response. Much appreciated.

With the newer updates by Viewsonic, which have been pulled btw, they had a basic recovery menu
Ahhh , ok . I wasnt craxy. I originally had the new update and used the newer recovery to load CWM and knew I saw a menu. again thank you all.

Thanks for this, I will be doing dual boot soon and this seems like the better option that I was not aware of before this video.

tried flashing using cwm and also through command prompt and adb, i give up

I make these videos because I know how frustrating it is when there is a list of steps to take, but you are so uncertain if you are doing it right. I think people are much more comfortable SEEING someone actually perform the steps. Guides are good, but demonstrations are much better.

Reverend, I just wanted to thank you for all your excellent video How-To's.
I have a question and maybe others can chime in here.
When I originally installed CM9 I never did get a CWM Recovery. I recently updated to latest CM9 Nightly and I installed TWRP.
My question is, can I install CWM Recovery as well and how do I go about it?
the last thing i did was open this app called ROM manager, and tried to backup my ROM i believe. It took me to the "android system recovery" menu, and i didnt really know what i was doing, so i selected "reinstall packages", and then "reboot system now", and then it reset my phone and now all it does it show the samsung vibrant screen, then I get a small vibration, followed by a pause, then a triple vibration. I am able to go back to the system recovery menu, and nothing different happens when i go to "reboot system now" I even deleted all user data! im kind of a noob, so i would appreciate if someone would help me out here. Thanks.

This AIO tool have everything in it JFD,Pit and Update
http://crescent-pc.com/androidpub/In...lbox 2.5.msi
On AIO click back to stock and read the instruction. That way u can go back in stock. Once your phone return in stock. Then next step click root your phone. Then next step flash custom rom. I recommend you to follow every step from AIO
Not to sound like a **** or anything; but next time you might wanna do a little research and reading before you actually do things to your phone since you "didn't really know what you were doing".
what do i put in Odin, for BOOTLOADER, PHONE, and CSC?
in the PIT i have the PIT.pit selected and in the PDA i have the PDA.tar selected but dont know what to select in them up there
Nvm! i got it, Thanks for the help! and im guessing i have to root it again? huh? xD
Hello,
I have a rooted Iocean G7.
I wanted to install the framework module with the Xposed installer app. This was no success, I got a bootloop. After this I contacted Iocean, and I have flashed my phone with the computer. It works fine now, as it should.
Now my question is, how can I install the framework module without getting a bootloop or other problems?
Thank you,
Robert

That could be possible, I am going to ask to rovo98, if he can make framework compactible with my phone.
I hope he wants to do
On Tweakers they think that the Rom is not compactible, but I do not think so... You?

You guys know that Xposed puts a framework disabler zip on your internal storage? All you have to do is boot into a custom recovery and install it.

What root method did you do that didn't require USB Debugging to be enabled?? But yea, I dunno about that. You're going to have to find out though. You'll need the SP Flash Tool to work, whether it's to install the custom recovery, or to install the entire stock firmware.

There is a 'Super User' setting in Settings which I enabled.
I tried installing PdaNet but that does require USB debugging to complete the installation.
Isn't there a standard recovery mode on these phones that I can use (combination key press) to install a rom copied onto the SD card?

That's pretty handy. But no, the stock recovery does not support that. You might be able to get out of it just from doing a factory reset in the stock recovery, but it's hard to say since Xposed makes changes to /system as well and the factory data reset does not affect the /system partition, just /data

hi good day how to root iocean g7
Hello,
maybe someone would be able to help or explain. Running on 9.1.0.215 (but tried with 9.1.0.210 as well), after I try to root with Magisk (=flash patched recovery_ramdisk), my SMS stop working. I've tried more applications (default 'Messaging', Google 'Messages', also Facebook 'Messenger') but no chance, phone is not able to receive or create any SMS messages. However, everything else is working fine.
I'm pretty sure that it's caused by this activity, because when I flash back original RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img, SMS are back again.
Any ideas what could be wrong? I really like to use Magisk, but unfortunately, it's no go without SMS.
Thanks!
1. Flash stock recovery_ramdisk. (If you already flash magisk patched ramdisk). Stock recovery is needed to factory reset.
2. back up your data.
3. reboot to recovery. Perform factory reset
4. Power off device. Hold volume down, plug usb to boot to bootloader.
5. flash magisk patched recovery ramdisk
6. Reboot by holding power + volume up button.
7. Done

Thanks for hint!
Doing factory reset isn't exactly one's wish, but if there is no other choice I will definitely give it a try. Speaking of backup/restore of apps - can you please give me a hint, what could be the most comfortable way of doing that? I do not care about data - that is easy to backup/restore - but is there any simple way how to avoid manual re-installation of all apps after restore?
Thanks again!

Hi, just to confirm that I had exactly the same problem. To solve it, I had to reinstall the original recovery ramdisk.

When you go through the setup it should suggest it if you've backed up to drive. Otherwise use titanium backup. It saves the apks and works with root

But reinstall original recovery ramdisk means no root, right?
Did you succeed with rooting afterwards, e. g. with factory reset like suggested above?

I ran into this problem on my honor 9 and in addition to a not working sms-app,the dialer app was broken aswell.
I did find this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/how-to/fix-messages-dialer-9-1-root-required-t3955964 and this fixed both issues.
adb shell
su

rm /data/user/0/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/*
Go back to phone and wipe data of Phone and Messages
Go back to command prompt and:

I unlocked my bootloader last year, when you could get the unlock code from their website. Unlocking your bootloader on Pie with one of those codes should still work.
I don't know, if other unlocking method like dc-unlocker or funkyhuawei will work. Sry
