fruit ninja slice delay - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i just noticed that the fruit ninja in xperia has a delay in slicing or sliding your fingers is there a way to make it normal? i used to have an iphone and the response there is really quick.

I tried it with custom kernel, it's so much better than the stock kernel.

Or just add ONE of the lines to your build.prop:
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=260
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=26
Both remove the lag and everything follows your finger much better

im kinda not familiar with the new kernel and i heard that there are still some issues. and for the build.prop: i guess ill try that. tnx for the info!

tried the build.prop thingy. it helped a little but still not as responsive as the one i use to have in my iphone. i hope there are still somr other ways. but i guess ill just wait for the custom kernel to be stable with the rom i use.

I know it is still pretty early in the development of this device, but I thought it might be interesting to track the popularity of various developers work.
So currently which rom/kernel are you running?

HC 3.1 + TouchWiz by Seo
I was using Bonsai's ROM but i had some issues to unlock my tablet after a few mins idle. I'm now trying Deodexed ROM.
Running Pershoot's latest (7.12). Probably going back to stock again though. Anytime Setpcu is "OnDemand" it seems laggy. Easiest way to notice is just swiping through the home screens. Its very choppy unless its set to performance, but I don't want it runnin at 1.4 constantly (for obvious reasons). Stock kernel on "interactive" seems to run best for me. Anyone have any ideas why its choppy 'ondemand'?
Also, for those running TouchWiz.... Did it change the icons (back, home, etc.) and clock font on the bottom of the screen? I've seen some older pictures of touchwiz, and a video on youtube and it looked different. I know its a small price to pay, but I really like the look of the buttons/clock now and don't want to lose it!

this is not a kernel issue.
this is a launcher issue.
it goes half framerate at various times, on HC. possibly due to GC (which causes a penalty).
the particular ondemand in the kernel set works good (it is not stock (what shipped)) and is responsive when dealing with app switching, scrolling, etc., ramping up when needed, etc. with minimal slowdown. there is still more work to do though.
i cannot fix HC's bloat. i can make the overall experience better though.
the kernel for sure is a marked improvement over stock. 'most' everyone that has been using this, has relayed this to me. i myself can def. see a difference. anyone else that hasn't, should produce logs of such slowdowns (that they feel is related to the kernel), for improvement moving forward.

Pershoot, I'd like to first say thank you and I appreciate all your efforts. I hope I didn't come across as complaining about your kernel; I know everyone has different results. Personally, I can't stand the choppiness of swiping pages on the homescreen and in the apps folder. However, in everything else, it seems to be great. For me, I had a lot of freezes with your first couple releases. So far with 7.12, I have none. Its easy to notice the difference especially because you have gotten the keyboard delay out of "browser"
I wanted to let you know of my issues (choppiness on homescreen), but I couldn't post to the developer forum yet as I was under 10 posts, which is why I posted here. I will let you if I experience any other issues (i keep going back and forth between kernels because i can't decide which tradeoff is more important)

as the releases move forward, so will the resolution of bugs and uniformity across many differing type of devices in the same class.
as for the launcher,
i wouldnt call it choppy, more so it going in slo mo and getting a lil stuck at times. you can tell its a problem with the launcher itself, because it really isnt prevalent anywhere else. also in 3.0.1, it seems to have been a bit better, in my opinion.
it def. has gotten better tho (as now its more responsive), but i cant really do much about it. its worst on stock, in my experience with it thus far. slamming the freq. speed way up to compensate, isn't really a cure for it, as it would still happen (just give the illusion of things being faster).
you can even test this for yourself, and replace the launcher with say launcher pro (for example), and then observe the results.
stock 3.1 with pershoot overclock @ 1.4 GHz. Working great and stable. Found it to be quicker than the bonsai ROM. TouchWiz ROM is def slow.

Yes, Touchwiz changes to the other icons. I found them kind of dull, and prefer the stock HC ones. Though the screen capture and mini apps were cool.

[ROM] Streakin' 354v1.1 **Update 9/16**

I am constantly playing with and 'tweakin' my Streak and have put together what I think is a good, lite, fast, and stable rom. I made this for my own use and decided to share it with the rest of you.
I started with 354 then removed all apps that could be downloaded from the market. I also removed alot of stuff that I didn't think was necessary (such as all the verification*.apk's, don't even know what they are). There are only 17 apps in the drawer on a fresh install! I added DJ Steve's kernel and some memory tweaks from using the HTC Kitchen. VTL Launcher ADW is the included launcher as well as Swype for the keyboard. There are also some customization provided by UOT Kitchen as well as a modified Settings.apk that I got from somewhere on here. I'd love to thank whoever made it, but I have lost track so if it's your's---thank you!
I'm getting Quadrant scores in the 1400's and battery life seems pretty decent. I gave up on Quadrant scores. My best guess would be low 800's for this version. I have found through trial and error that higher Quadrant scores mean less stability, and honestly I can't tell the difference in real world performance between an 800 QS and a 1400 QS. I can't tell you exact battery life because I haven't hardly put this thing down since I installed this.
I am not an expert by no means and have only gotten these results from tinkering and trial and error. I think this is good, but am open to suggestions for improving it.
I started off by installing stock 354 using stock recovery, then installed this using Streakmod recovery and did a Factory Reset (Dell's, not Streakmod's). I have had no issues so far.
I have seen this posted before and liked it so I'm going to use it here: If you find a bug, you get to keep it. If this breaks your Streak, you get to keep the pieces. Obviously installing a custom rom breaks your warranty, and I am not responsible for whatever happens if you install mine.
Thanks to everyone whose ideas I stole/used/borrowed/whatever. Without the true experts on this board, I wouldn't have had anything to tinker with.
What works: Everything I can think of
What doesn't work: Waiting for you to tell me. The time in the status bar is black and the status bar is blackish...makes it hard to see. I don't know why and haven't yet figured out how to fix this. If someone has a link to a good tutorial and I can make it work, I'll be happy to resolve it!
So without further ado, I present Streakin' 354v1 354 v1.1:
http://www.multiupload.com/1MVM3O34AN v1.1 *newest*
http://www.multiupload.com/BHI4Y4XD69 I'm leaving this link for those that prefer v1.
I do intend on maintaining this rom and tweakin' it more based on recommendation, more stuff that I learn, etc. I do have a full time job, so even though I want to answer questions immediately, it's not always practical. If it takes me a while to respond, I apologize in advance.
Edit 09/24/11 - If you prefer landscape mode, simply flash the attached file below in recovery. Be sure to wipe cache and dalvik-flash after flashing. After doing this it took 5-6 minutes for my phone to boot, but it did....eventually. You may want to backup first! I also added a portrait mode file in case you decide you don't like landscape after all. Enjoy.
Edit 09/25/11 - It was pointed out to me that this ROM does not have a init.d folder. I forgot to add it, although the support to run scripts in init.d is there. Until the next version comes out, using Root Explorer, or similar, create a folder named init.d in /system/etc/ and set the permissions to rwx,r_x,r_x. That should be all you need. Thanks.

I didn't like VTL Launcher either, until I went into the settings and turned the left and right dockbars off. Now it's not much different than ADW and rightfully so, since it's based off of it.
7h 15 min running the rom
The rom running well
I have changed the launcher to go launcher after loading the rom running fine
battery life--15% in 7h 15 min
few voice call few minutes of data usuage two skype video call about 15 minutes of usuage and 7h standby

Try "orientation control" by "coin soft" to lock your streak in whatever orientation you want. I've got it on my streakdroid and it works fine
Just an observation here. You might want to contemplate recreating this ROM using 360 as a base instead of 354 due to the more complete language support in the former compared to the latter.

I had contemplated using that rom as my base, but noticed everyone had better battery life with 354. 360 was listed as being an "update" 351, which gave me horrible battery life. If someone can tell me different as far as battery, I don't think it would be difficult to redo this based on one of the others (360 or maybe 364?)
Grateful your work!
Grateful your work! I am pleased that contains the settings for Japanese.
Parts of the screen is also very beautiful!

OK, I removed DJ Steve's kernel and replaced some files that were changed to accomodate it. My quadrant scores are now in the 800's and I'll report back with the 'feel' of the device and stability over the next day or so. I love seeing high scores, however must admit I've never really noticed a difference in day to day use with the higher scores. I will take stability over high benchmark scores, but will take noticeable speed increase over a little stability if that makes sense.
Quadrant is too overrated as a benchmark. Stick to a reliable & stable build

2.2 or 2.3?

Well, that's my question...right now, im using MIUI, but i have been some time in it already, but im kind of tired of the lag..i was kind of used to it, but today i tried my friend's phone, and i suddenly remembered how it feelt to use a phone with no lag at all...i want that feeling back when i use my Vibrant.
I don't mind the battery problem because i have chargers everywhere, plus i always have my USB cable around and my laptop. My main concern is PERFORMANCE, i want my vibrant to be as smooth as posible. Plus, i don't like to be changing ROMs daily...im whiling to make this change for the better, but only once or twice. I HATE when a rom seems pretty nice when its clean, but as soon as you start adding your daily apps and stuff, setting your accounts, background apps (twitter, FB, Email) it starts lagging a lot. So im asking, which version is better performance-wise for a daily driver? I have been reading about this ROM, Ultimate, which supposedly is the best custom rom available for the i9000, and since someone kindly ported it to the Vibrant, i might like to try it.
CM7 has always be the smoothest and best performing for me. The only reason I've gone back to 2.2 is that I need at least a whole 24hrs without charging, and I never got that with CM7.

You did something wrong during flash stage, or you flashed miui about 5+ months ago when it was buggy.
right now its bug free. It's normal like a 2.2 rom, the battery life is a bit low, but a mod b neobuddy fixes that.
lag? did you take apart your phone and like take some parts out or something?

Of course not dude. I flashed the latest MIUI, and it was pretty good at first, but as the days passed, it became slower and slower, till the point i had to restart my phone 2 or 3 times a day because of the lag. And apps like Whatsapp where crashing and acting funny all the time.
I was using MIUI + neobuddy's Enhancer MOD. I don't remember the kernel.
I decided to give a try to CM7, and so far its being working pretty nice...i had forgotten how AOSP looked like lol
Might give a try to MIUI AOSP again later, but for now, im going to test CM7 for a week or something, and see how it does.

yeah definitely, there might've been something wrong that happened, maybe a bug that was there before? I had the same things as you and i'm here and haven't rebooted in 2 weeks. Give it another try, see if it works better, if not, i can't really suggest anything... if you did all the mounting, wiping etc right...

[Q] can someone please help me out ?

hello there well im new to this android thing
i got x10 for a cheap price
and i have to say its a good phone
but well the in call volume is too low
while browsing and searching the x10 forums i found out
that there are some roms that can fix that issue
so whats the best rom for x10
btw its rooted
MODEL number : x10i
Android version : 2.3.3
Baseband version: 2.1.7.1
Kernel version: 2.6.29-00054-g5f01537 [email protected]#1
Build number: 3.0.1.G.0.75
Depending on your taste, it boils down to stock based, cyanogenmod, or miui. I prefer miui for many reasons, I use it for my business and its been very usefull. You can get roms that are for gaming, or ones with all the stock bells and whistles like facebook and timescape but to say which is best is tough.
Im using Oodies miui 1.11.4 and I love it, but if I still had a locked bootloader I would use cobratos because his froyo miui was the best and so I trust hes very good. I think you should try miui, but Im biased. Just make sure you read the original post start to finish and follow it carefully, avoid yourself some trouble and unnecessary posts for help. The x10 when properly modded is awesome and saves you from buying the new expensive phones for now, this phone can do alot when rooted have fun.
thank you that was really helpful
i found that thread about
Best performance and best look for your x10!
it got a rom by someone called Oodie
i like that rom the looks and they say it will fix the in call volume
but i wonder if its gonna work on my phone i dunno how to apply it
I have to agree with Bugly. You will get a headache if you were to attempt to figure out which ROM is best. A difficult task indeed. I strongly believe that it all boils down to personal preference my friend. Assuming you are locked BL, if you desire customization then go with MIUI based ROM. If you want the very basic, very dependent, user friendly, and contains all the bells and whistle then go with Wolf's take on the GB firmware.. Again, it all boils down to personal preference bud. You will have fun with this phone. Rooting opens many doors bro. Get at it.
Oh hey some tips to look out for.
-Look for ROMS that come prerooted (In most cases, most ROMs do)
-Review the features of the kernel being used in the ROM.
-Remove your FPScaps immediately and enjoy super speeds bro (Most ROMS support the FPS uncap hack, but you can flash the actual FPS hack yourself via xrecovery. If anything, I will attach the zip. to this comment.)
- With constant experimenting come constant trials and errors. You will run into walls and get stuck from time to time. Always make a backup of your current ROM and DATA.
@venix10
Root your phone and take the time to learn how to unlock Bootloader with Flashtool! Then it's easy to shift between different 'flavors'.
I have always been a great fan of WolfBreak, but like MIUI as well. WolfBreak has better battery, while MIUI has a lot of themes...
Bugsy
I used wolfbreaks roms back in the froyo days, they are top quality but in all honesty Id say ewjet is probably better overall, and would be my next choice after MIUI. The main thing about MIUI I like isnt just the themes, its the nicely done contacts and sms UI, along with the unbeatable pull down curtain that has all your toggles, so many to list I cant see anyone not liking it.
ok and since you guys had the x10 for a longtime i guess
is there a solution for the low in call volume ? is there some sort of a fix
There is a ´addon´ called xLoud, it really up your volume. But, i suggest to stay away .. cause can damage your louder/phone sound.
yeah i heard of it but are there any other ways
and another thing
i heard about the bravia engine what it do what are the pros and the cons of it

A Performance Tip.

I am not sure as to whether this should go to the general, or the development thread. But I think developers as well as other users gotta know if there's something that can improve rom performance.
So, I've noticed apart from 16 bit transparency, there's another tweak in the later cm7.2 roms of
debug.sf.hw=1
debug.composition.type=gpu
These lines forces GPU to render graphics. In the early gingerbread leak roms debug.sf.hw=1 is the source of a pain for all users, slowing ALL popup animations and lagging them badly, and also rendering the screenoff animation inexistent. The solution was to comment out the line itself.
Later these lines became a standard in Cm7.2 roms. I commented them out anyways, bringing a very slight improvement to performance.
But now, I believe there is a better tweak. Debug.composition.type has 2 settings of gpu or cpu. Out of curiosity I wrote 2 lines into build.prop, in an attempt to make BOTH CPU and GPU to work the graphics.
After rebooting I found that there WAS indeed an improvement in touch response time, and graphics seems to be smoother.
A long time spent in xda made me think about the placebo effect. But I tested this on many occasions with many roms and found, to my pleasure that there is indeed a difference. Believe me, I spent time STARING at some touch events and I do feel a difference.
So here I recommend you all to do the same.
Flash the updated adreno libraries, which adds the above 2 lines into build.prop. Following this, add a next line of debug.composition.type=cpu following the gpu line. Fairly easy to do with a root browser; I use root explorer.
I hope this thread doesn't get moved until this becomes a standard! I post in no attempt to hoard thanks, or donations, I just want everyone else following xda with a **** phone like the Ace to make their lives a little better. Well, you all are here, undeniably, because you are OCD about your phone speed.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day!
Cool
I hope this help developers to boost performance on their ROMs.
If this works, I'd prob start using CM7.2
Thanks for the tip bro!

I used it on Myth2. If that monster could go smoother, it did.
It made the scrolling too smooth. But anyways :good:
I think this is interesting, but I didn't understand well the procedure. Do I just have to write these lines in build.prop? I suppose they are meant to be placed in a specific position am I right?
Could you please write down the precise lines to copy and the position in which doing that?

Yup, in build.prop.
Begin on a new line. Doesn't matter where you place it, you could write the below debug.composition.type=gpu if you like, or you could just add it to the bottom.
Scrolling increase after add this !
Open root explorer
Go in system
Press and hold build.prop and "Open in Text Editor"
Add this lines if you don't have :
debug.composition.type=gpu
debug.composition.type=cpu
Hit menu, then Save changes!
Restart
If i get it wrong correct me
Nice tip bro
Done. Will give feedback in 24 hrs!

I didn't think it would work as well. But it did. Well it never hurts to try.
Opera mini runs regardless of what I did with build.prop. Nope, no such problems.
Can someone explain to me why two different values for the debug.composition.type?
debug.composition.type=gpu
debug.composition.type=cpu
Shouldn't it be debug.composition.type=gpu only? Kindly explain.
In stock ddkq8 there is also a line debug.composition.type=mdp
What about this ? Do we have to comment it ?

video.accelerate.hw=1 - Increases touch responsiveness.
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=120 - Increases scrolling responsiveness.
