Q - Good Rom for a beginner - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello good people,
I posted a few months ago about rooting my gf's fascinate using a mac and finally got it done. It was very easy, but now I'm a bit lost on what rom to flash, being that I'm a G2 guy and things tend to be simpler there.
Keep in mind: I would prefer to put it on the sdcard and flash via CWM. She is on EA28 and I'm not 100% positive as to whther DL09 or DJ05 will work with hers.
Lastly, I would prefer two roms to try at this time. A stock based de-binged rom, and a slick looking, froyo hybrid that is stable enough to have sms working. She is a texting monster, so sms has to work.
This forum has a lot of nice and knowledgeable members, so I look forward to the responses.

Well adrynalines supercleans are very stable. I have had no problem with any of them yet.
There is also DroidXcons all in one packages.

Either "ec01" or the debloated variant in the themes section would be worthy of a.shot as well. These are basically stock froyo

What ROM is everybody using

Hey everybody, I just order a Fascinate today and was interested in what ROM you guys/girls prefer to use. Im switching from a droid 2, and previously a droid 1, which had a great ROM community. I think its fantastic that there are so many Galaxy S phones but I think it is unfortunate that Roms are not applicable across models.
In addition to selecting what rom you are using it would be great to say what works great and what is still buggy. Please let me know if I forgot anything.

Welcome to the community!
Personally, I've been using jt1134's Super Clean with AOSP. Bubby323's Magic with AOSP is looking very promising. I tested version 0.2 for a couple days. and I think 0.3 will be a winner.
We're just getting started here in month 2 of the Fascinate's release, and there has already been some spectacular progress, mainly in the kernel department. There are some familiar names from the D1 community at work over here, and once FroYo drops for this phone, things should REALLY take off! (Seriously, who wants to work on a version of the OS that is already out of date, and will be replaced any minute now?)
I am loving that Blue Breeze!
Actually thought there would be more out there by now. Or at least some themes. I am sure, in time!

Well, I just finished an Android app that would have taken most devs about a half an hour. It took me a week, and I now have bald spots.
So I guess time is relative!
stock rom and just remove what you want
Add option for stock lol.
None of the above? I ran the update on my phone, reapplied root and continued on from there.

I'm using the stock rom with some slight modifications. Haven't felt compelled to use a custom rom yet.

AOSP Magic. I like the black mods.
I've been using jt1134's super clean with voodoo lagfix and the 1250 Mhz kernel and i have almost 0 fc's. I am in absoloute love with this phone. Best free phone friday ever.

Me too! I know Best Buy can be shady, but God bless 'em for giving me this awesome phone for free. Well, almost, had to add a line to get it, haha.
Super Clean ROM with the puzzle lock screen running Dirk's D02_SV1200 kernel with lagfix turned on. So fast, and so much faster than my Eris.

so how are you liking it compared to your droid 2?
using Zinc V1.0 right now. So far i'm liking it, but there's not a whole lot of difference in anything right now. I've tried jt's clean, blue breeze, aosp magic and Zinc, and they're pretty much all variations on a theme. not that there's anything wrong with that, i'm simply saying whatever you pick you can't go wrong, and it's easy to change anything you don't like about any one of them.

Froyo with Flash??

Hello XDA im a eris-aholic and im looking for a froyo rom with flash. So far ive only found 2. 1 roms that have flash but no 2.2's or am i missing something? Pls help!!
Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
The only one that I know of is the KaosLegendary v.19 ROM. It's a Wildfire Port, but is very visual rough and still in the alpha phase but flash does really work (probably thing that works really well as of right now). Hope this helps :3
Edit:
The reason for this is that to have Flash 10.1 of the Eris you either need to port it on the back of another 2.2 sense ROM or build it on top of out default 2.1 sense ROM with flash lite. Most (maybe all) other 2.2 ROMs for Dorid Eris are ASOP (cyanogen) which doesn't work well when mixed with the Eris and Flash.

Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
Ok so I'm. Going to assume that install through pc to kaos 37 also wouldn't work well then. Is like to have the best of both worlds but legendary is still alpha and kinda funky atm IMHO. any other input would be great
Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
I've had flash running on every 2. 1 sense Rom that I've flashed, but so far no luck with the 2.2 because they are all cyanogen. As of last night or the night before, the htc gratia was ported to the Eris. It's the first "working" 2.2 SENSE Rom for us. Only problem is that its still very very rough.. setup is in Chinese, no WiFi, camera issues, and to turn it off you have to do a battery pull. So, maybe in a few weeks some of our great devs will have that Rom running smoother and reliably, and maybe then, flash will work on it. Even then, there may still be issues =/ we'll see tho! Hope this helps!

Give it a month. It'll have smoothed out by then.

Or a couple of days lol. There's a few versions out now like tenzos and tazz's. Both are already looking very good.
Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
IMO Tenzo is on the forefront of making a useable functional 2.2 Sense ROM for our Erii.
+1 for Tenzos 2.2 Sense rom.
So far I've demo'd them both and tenzo is definitely closer to completion even though it still has bugs.... ill probably go with tenzo unless kaos pulls this through quick
And clean

Noob question here

I am new to android and I have rooted my TB with perfect storm rom and I love it. I keep hearing about this CM7 rom that everyone is waiting for. I am just wondering what is so special about CM7? What makes it so much different then other roms that are already out?
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
CM7 is a AOSP. No sense what-so-ever. They are great devs. Everything is customized. The support from the devs and the community is overwhelming. It is fast. M-once it gets out of beta, the release candidate , rc, are stable. CM7 was introduce to several devices as cm6, then to cm7.
I would suggest searching, and reading about cm6/cm7.

Motorola ATRIX 4g roms

I was just trying to get some good suggestions on which rims are good to use with my Motorola ATRIX
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
They are all great and stable. Read through the DEV section and do some research. Find one that suits your needs, then flash away. Just make sure you are unlocked and using the correct recovery. Good luck!
ROMs are like pokemons - you need to try them all yourself.

This is no diss to the developers because I very much appreciate their work!
And I haven't tried all the ROMs
Still, for my suite of apps, for the smoothest and most reliable op of the phone and for the longest battery life..I am back to stock. I have frozen apps, I am running the .97 radio (which has made a huge difference to me in reliability and throughput) but I am stock. Mainly, I had issue with the various incarnations of the Faux kernel and always wound up with lost widgets (I like my widgets I tried all the suggestions and still, at some point I would lose widgets with the kernel. Since this is the basis of most ROMs that did it for me (and it has to be the kernel since I had the problem on the stock ROM with the kernel).
Good luck...it is easy to go back to stock if you don't like the various ROMs.
I intend to try CM7 later on when the Faux kernel and the integration with Setcpu (both cores) is resolved and CM7 has webtop integration (I use the lapdock every day).
I've used a few of the ROM's out there and right now I am on HomeBase version 2 with Faux's latest kernel. I will say that the version of HomeBase is pretty close to stock but it has a bunch of enhancements (zipalign, memory tweaks, etc). My suggestion is to get to flashing and see what suits you. What I like you may hate. CM7 is worth a try as well and I may switch over when it become official (or I may wait for MIUI).
As for the widget issue...fix permissions fixed it for me, hundreds of restarts and I still have my widgets.
You should check out the dev section...good ROM's and good reading!!!

I recommend 22 inch chrome rims depending on what you like.
If you are looking form suggestions for ROMs I'd suggest CM7.

Most stable rom?

I just ordered an Amaze for $250 and I am pretty stocked, coming from the mytouch 4g. I noticed that a lot of the roms appear to not have data working. Is there a complete ics rom you would recommend to flash for the first rom? Also how is stock ics rom?
Sent from my Dark Unicorn Resurrected v.2.5 using xda premium
Stock rooted most stable and is the best rom for this phone imo. ARHD was my favorite deodexed.
If you want mods and a different aosp look.. you can do all that yourself on one of the two above with flashable mods and nova launcher.
Its probably best to read up on all of the ROMs and try them yourself to make your own judgement. This thread will just lead to a few devs shouting out their own roms and their fans following close behind. I know this because this isnt the first time a thread like this has appeared. Im sure u searched before posting though so no worries

I agree with GG
go stock rooted, or ARHD. The phone on ics is pretty darn fast

I've never really had any issues with ARHD and would suggest it.
I cant wait to get this phone. It is miles ahead of the Mytouch 4G yes I will read up and research and ask questions if A) can't find something or more likely don't understand what is being explained. Any gingerbread roms worthy enough to look at?

For ICS, I'd suggest ARHD (as previously posted). However, for Gingerbread, I'd suggest BulletProof. BulletProof is what I was running prior to migrating to ICS.
Thanks everyone I would definitely flash ARHD first that is after I get a feel for stock rom. I also found the the Amazing guide stickied on the dev section to really nice. I hope to see it explode pretty soon
Sent from my Dark Unicorn Resurrected v.2.5 using xda premium
I tried most if not all ROMs. If you want ICS I say go with NRGs stock Rom with faux new kernel. Been my daily driver for a few months now except the kernel that just dropped. If your gonna be on GB then I also 2nd Bulletproof.
Patiently waiting for some CM9 or 10. Which looks like we'll probably have by August, September.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
Whether you use energy with or without stock look, it is the rom I keep going to.. I never have issues with it. I debloat the hell out of it mind you, I don't leave rosie or any other sense feature, but as far as stability, battery, etc is concerned, it is my default rom of choice, and I have tried them all pretty extensively.
If you get the latest build you have to make sure to increase the minimum clock speed to 384 which just requires two little edits in the init.post_boot.sh file in the system/etc directory.
And despite what GG said, even tho I love him(no homo), I am not a fanboy by any means..
I use hd revolution on sensation and amaze. On amaze, it will give you out of box ui but in back processes, lot of optimization were made.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
Used ARHD when I had my amaze 4g and never used anything else, that was when it only had GB though, now that I got a GNex, I'm still using ARHD, one of the best Roms out there, no problems whatsoever, stable, and Mike is an all around great guy who puts much care into his Roms. (Not to say that others don't, I've used so many Roms its unbelievable, just like everyone else, and all devs are AWESOME!!!)
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
My word isn't really needed at this point, but **** it - Android Revolution HD (ARHD), just like the others have said.
Trewyy
Engery Rom is thee best choice
Energy Rom is the best in my opinion. I tried both clean rom and ADRHD or whatever it is call. I like Energy because it is Stable. Battery life to me is awesome, especially when I use my hotspot, Bluetooth and playing Poweramp plus I do play games and etc... Anyways that what I would recommend. Personally choose whatever fits your needs and do not go based off what we say. Remember the most popular rom for the Amaze may not be the best or work for your phone. Not all phones are created the same.
